241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining! How and What? on: December 12, 2017, 09:11:34 AM
Read till you are too tired to read, and then read some more. Then watch videos in your time off from reading. There are several articles/videos detailing a ground-up approach, start there.
Then ask informed questions here on the forums when you have some background info and enough knowledge to form a specific question about a specific problem, and we will help.
Then get into building mining rigs and when in the process you actually stuck (just like everyone does) ask for help here, and the good people of this forum will help.
But if you want someone to collate all information and serve it to you on a platter, sorry, the internet's changed in the years since you've been gone Tongue

laughing at all u idiots now hahaha

since p106 is required for b250 now.

Tch tch ... I find it sad that people have to call others Idiots to validate their poor purchasing decisions Roll Eyes
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia Titan V - does 70mh/s on ETH STOCK on: December 12, 2017, 09:01:41 AM
Volta's memory bus is 3072 vs 2048 bit width of Vega. It is 1.5x more bandwidth if using same freq. moreover I think NVIDIA is doing better with timings tuning

Im sure the timings differ and that could boost performance, but considering the Vega 64 can do 43mh/s maxed out, just tighter timings cant be pushing a 90% increase in peak performance, can they? (bear in mind these are stock timings, so they wouldn't be as aggressive as the STILT's straps).
Memory bus can be an additive factor, but then the GTX 1060 run a 192bit memory bus and outperform the 256bit RX 470/480/570/580 cards at same clocks (without bios mods ofcource).

Something tells me the Vega 56/64's are crapping out due to some other reason ...
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nvidia Titan V - does 70mh/s on ETH STOCK on: December 12, 2017, 07:52:52 AM
Here is BBT's video doing a full roundup :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW8LOQ2yvO4

This card ofcource does not make economic sense, but it does show that HBM2 even at 850mhz stock clocks can push 70+ mh/s on Ethash, and upto 83mh/s when overclocked even in the preliminary tests done by BBT Carter in the above video.
What I'm curious about now is, what the hell is keeping the HBM2 on the Vega's back? Isn't all HBM2 made by Samsung? That would rule out different manufacturers and different timings as the cause.
Anyone have any insights into this?
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer vs GPU!!! on: December 11, 2017, 02:20:02 PM
Antiminer Pro's :
1) Significantly cheaper than a full 6 GPU build generating equivalent revenue
2) No skill required to setup, plug and play so very noob friendly
3) Little to no maintenance required
Cons :
1) Can ONLY mine one algorithm, if that drops in profitability you can not switch or sell, you are stuck with an ASIC that cant do anything else.
2) Prices seem cheap, but when you add in import customs and shipping duties, cost of power supplies etc it isnt so cheap anymore.
3) A measely 6 month warranty, compared to 3 years on GPUs, and you have to handle shipping it back to them yourself.
4) LOUD as HELL, so you can not have these inside your house, even in the Garage is too loud for most people.
5) Little to no resale value, so ROI calculation for an ASIC is against its total value. For a GPU based rig, you only need to cover only ~30% of the Rig value depreciation only they still have a use, and resale value. This makes ASICs take longer to ROI.
6) Every new ASIC upgrade demolishes previous ones, making them almost unprofitable to run, and a couple new upgrades are expected in the next year.
7) You need to place the order and pay the total amount 2-3months in advance atleast, and there more delays even then, while a GPU rig you can build tomorrow.

what is your kHW?

How are you monitoring it? via  killawatt or separate eb meter ?

You measure the wattage each machine is running at when you build it, with a wattmeter. From there on you can calculate KWH - a machine that was consuming 800W would end up using 0.8 x 24 x 30 = 576 Units of electricity a month.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A BIG help is needed in installing the rig on: December 10, 2017, 07:52:56 PM
Hi is there any issue in this setup?

Not the setup, the issue is your absolute lack of knowledge. GPU based mining is not for people who aren't already familiar with PC hardware. It's best done by people who have built PC's in the past.
No one can help you with the questions that you have because they are VERY basic.
This also means you will not be able to handle the massively more complicated stuff about mining that you will have to tackle in the future once you have the system assembled.
So, I advice you to sell your hardware and buy an Antminer or buy coins and trade. Its more profitable anyways.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 10, 2017, 07:49:13 PM
Interesting idea,

Phill or Citronick,

Know if those CPU blade cards can be ran in multiples on a motherboard?

I ask because with the profits on Monero, its been temping to get into more CPU mining...My 1950x has been running around $4-5/day all week......

Lets say you could, what would be the point? A Ryzen 7 is making $4 a day, how much do you think a lowly ULV Dual core cpu would make? And EVEN IF you can get multiple Ryzen 7 level "CPU Blade cards" with the CPU's on proper cooling and the right kind of power delivery in there, I cant imagine them costing anything less than the cost of Ryzen 7 + 100$ so about $400, so, again, why?
Why not a Vega 56? Or two RX 570?
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A BIG help is needed in installing the rig on: December 10, 2017, 04:16:36 PM
Hi,

Can someone please verify the following setup:

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan

Sell your hardware while its new, please do not get into mining, this is clearly not for you.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Prebuilt Eth/Zec Mining Rigs in Bangalore, India on: December 10, 2017, 04:15:42 PM
awsome to see the love for minging.

I have been in the IT world for while. I have an extra room/bathroom where i want to take advantage.

Was wondering a rig with 4-6 cards .. do you think its possible to make 20-30$ thru any of the altcoins?

It all depends on the cards you choose, with 4 Vega 56 GPU's you can easily more ~$30 per day. Check out the website whattomine, itll take you a little while to figure out how to use it, but its the best single view snapshot of all your mining needs (GPU type, hash rate, power consumption, earnings, what coins are profitable etc).

I have some of ASUS ROG STRIX RX580 8GB OC with Hynix H5GQ8H24MJ, but hashrate is terrible low 28-29
and unstable. Any ideas for good mode?
This Hynix can do 32MH/s maybe more.

But not with ASUS Sad

Can you help me ?

Only if you cool it with liquid nytrogen

Dude ... dont give noobs ideas ... next hell ask you how to cool with Liquid Nitrogen  Cheesy
252  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Prebuilt Eth/Zec Mining Rigs in Bangalore on: December 10, 2017, 08:10:30 AM
What is the maximum Hashrate you have with your rigs?

~194mh/s with the 7 RX 570 cards.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.2 (Windows/Linux) on: December 10, 2017, 08:09:59 AM
I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but how do I run two instances of claymore 10.2? One for AMD and one for NVIDIA.  I tried the -platform and -mport but its still not working.

You do know that claymore runs amd and nvidia in a single instance perfectly fine?
254  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Ethereum / ZCash Miners in Bangalore - Here is how you get started with Mining on: December 10, 2017, 08:09:22 AM
hi
im setting up a mining rig in chennai, would like to know where i can get the nvdia graphics cards at better price in chennai/blore.
any recommendations..

is it possible to check if the graphics cards have samsung memory in it?.

Ritchie Street or SP Road. No, unfortunately you cant check type of memory on cards before buying so its just luck.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 09, 2017, 09:54:30 PM

I'm so discouraged....and looking for an alternate solution. I was even considering going back to using risers on  a known board. Then, I found the Onda B250 BTC-D8P is available in the US :

https://www.waikey.com/item/onda-b250-btc-d8p-8-pci-e-slots-motherboard-8-gpu-mining/

Not sure if I should trust this site.

That is an interesting looking board ...
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A BIG help is needed in installing the rig on: December 09, 2017, 08:22:25 PM
Hi,

Couple of confirmations and questions regarding connecting the hardware. My infra is:

> H81 PRO BTC R2.0
> HX1200i
> SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 580 8 GB
> Riser version 007
> SSD

Note: Currently I have two GPUs so will install two GPUs to the rig and will increase the GPUs after some time.

1) Do I need to install the 4-pin PCIE_PWR1 PCIe Power Connectors to the motherboard? (I have two 4-pin PCIe power connectors on the motherboard). Note: I will be be using powered risers.
No.

Quote
2) On GPU there is 8-pin + 6-pin power connector. I don't know which cable would be used from the set of cables provided with the PSU.. Can you please identify the cables from the set.
That PSU has 4 PCIe cables that have 2 x 6+2 ends, for a total of 8 connectors. Plug in any the 6+2 connectors into the 8 pin slot on the GPU, leave the 6pin slot empty, Rx580's can work without it. So you can connect two GPUs on one cable effectively.

Quote
3) I have 6-pin power connector on the riser. I read in many places that SATA cable that has been provided with the riser should not be used and instead the power to the riser should be provided from PSU. Please let me know if riser is powered from the 6-pin of the PSU? Can you please identify the cables from the set.
Do not use the adapters that come with the risers, you need to connect directly to the PCIe 6+2 cables for the risers as well, since you bought PCIe powered risers. You can connect two risers on one cable effectively.

Quote
4) Where should I connect the LCD? (a) Directly from the port on the motherboard. or (b) Would be connected to the DVI port provided on the GPU. In case of (b) GPU1, GPU2, or any?
You can connect the Monitor to either the motherboard or the GPU, either of them works. But for the H81 chipset motherboards, its recommended to disable the onboard display, or you it will not allow you underclock the GPU's

Quote
5) The SSD power would be from the PSU SATA cable and the SSD data would be from the motherboard to the SSD through the SATA data cable. Please conform this.
You probably should not be mining if something as basic as connecting an SSD confuses you.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: VEGA 64 mining FREE WISDOM on: December 09, 2017, 08:13:40 PM
yea soz, should of explained that better, at current ETH price and with my current rig setup im averaging $850/mnth, thats the number i was thinking about to come up with 24day ROI on 1 card
i could just switch over to XMR and pay the 3 card cost with my current rig in 1.5mnths approx excluding the gains from 3 more gpus but then again as i have mentioned before im looking years down the line and much much much grander scale of which i made positive steps today

Cool and all, but switch to XMR/Electroneum ... running Ethash on Vega's is almost criminal, seeing as you are effectively halving your potential revenue.

This program will work on my computer with features 5gb ram, 2gb graphics card?  Huh

No.

yun, i've read through this thread twice already, any chance you can give a summary of things you learned from this experience? i'm planning mine out right now (instead of having miners scattered all around my house)

How about he comes over to your place and does it all for you, how does that sound?
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 06, 2017, 05:04:36 AM
Little update on the D1800 BTC progress, i got it finally to recognize and allocate resources to all 6 x 1080ti's finally, but i think i hit a roadblock on my PSU, i have a 450watt EVGA PSU i picked up cheap around black friday for $9.95 shipped after rebate and apparently it doesnt have enough juice to run more than 4 GPU's, as soon as i start mining with all 6 the PSU shuts off, i tried 5 same thing happened, i even tried running 6 @ 50% tdp as soon as i start mining the computer shuts off instantly as soon as it loads up, but as soon as i disable 2, i can mine with 4 even at 110% tdp without any power issues.... since the real load at that point is on the server PSU

The PSU im using, i am using 2 connectors from each string on the mobo, im guessing im overloading the peripheral power bar possibly...

How in the world did u find enough connectors on a 450W PSU to connect 6 cards???
