241  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Sapphire 7950 boost BIOS question on: June 25, 2013, 08:10:44 PM
Ok.
Do you have Catalyst Control Center installed?
Is "AMD External Events" service enabled?
What will happen if you delay cgminer auto-start for 30 seconds?
Any other programs running?

I think that something besides cgminer sets clocks on ur system.
242  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who else is fed up with the core development team? on: June 25, 2013, 08:06:39 PM
They are hurting the community. So apparently a DDOS cause by old Satoshi written code, that could be used to do a DDOS attack. So yeah when do they do testing? I am guessing never, it sounds like this should have been tested and fixed a longgggggggg time ago. And they all think they deserved to get paid? I have yet to see a worthy thing of them getting paid. I guess taking interviews, and slamming companies just takes up that testing time.

We need a new development team, one that has the morals of not getting paid and being greedy.

I know this is going to get me a lot more ignores, but someone has to say it, and if it is me, the so be it. I think they are disgrace to the community. I hope the foundation gets shutdown, and sued for every single penny they have.

And before people tell me that I should switch clients and vote with my downloads, that is easier said then done, but I am in the process and most my servers run my own "client" plus two other clients, (Supernode (Java) and btcd (Go))

Who are  those "we", or is it a royal 'we'?
Software works and is popular -> software is 'good' ; )
Found a bug? Report it. Or fix it. Can't fix it - hire a developer to fix it. Or hire developers and create your own client(if you are right you will even make some money) which will suit your/that community u are talking about needs.

Can't fix the bug or hire s1 to fix the bug or make something usefull? Yeah.. go whine about "developers hurting community" on the forum..
243  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Sapphire 7950 boost BIOS question on: June 25, 2013, 07:47:03 PM
I use AfterBurner to control GPUs clocks and voltages.
244  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Powered PCIE risers with capacitors on: June 25, 2013, 03:58:50 PM
If riser is done 'good' there is no reason it will cause fire.
And capacitor might be a good idea - it will smoothen voltage fluctuations, assuming it is on the 12v line.
245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cold storage on: June 25, 2013, 03:45:22 PM
I personally find it all useless.

There are two types of attacks targeted and non-targeted.
To be safe from non-targeted attack you need to use up-to-date Windows or some 'unpopular' OS, like MacOS ; ) .. basically just using common sense and using any modern updated OS will keep you safe from non-targeted attacks.

But almost nothing will keep you 100% safe from targeted attack with a hot soldering iron ; )

247  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [1 BTC BOUNTY CLAIMED!] Get 6 radeon 7970 installing and mining in Windows on: June 23, 2013, 11:39:31 PM
Dunno why people are still going back and forth about this. I posted the solution for this already. It works for 7970, 7950, 7870 (non-xt, non-myst), 7850, 7770, 7750.

You do understand that so called 'your solution' is a bit weird.. I mean.. install win8, install 13.1, replace it with 12.6.. that's crap)
I've been runnning 6gpu rig without any issues with just clean w2k8 install+12.6 that's all, no win8 no drivers updating..
But now we have 13.1 working for 6GPU rigs, and I hope soon we will have any Catalyst version working for 6GPU rigs.
248  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [1 BTC BOUNTY CLAIMED!] Get 6 radeon 7970 installing and mining in Windows on: June 23, 2013, 11:34:58 PM
So.. DiamondHunter, are you willing to screw up your rig? ; )
And to pinpoint which registry setting is it.

Will take a look and let you know guys.

I've installed those 13.1 drivers from techpowerup on my 6gpu rig and it works ; )

Windows 2008 R2, Catalyst 13.1 from techpowerup(driver only), 2x6950, 4x7950 - works
Windows 2008 R2, Catalyst 13.1 from AMD(driver only), 2x6950, 4x7950 - does not work
Windows 2008 R2, Catalyst 12.6 from AMD(driver only), 2x6950, 4x7950 - works

I'm pretty sure Windows 7 will work too.
249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay on: June 22, 2013, 04:59:32 PM
1st - ok, I got it.. yeah that sux, but there is 'second offer' option and you can always contact ebay, sooner or later such buyers will be banned. I thought of simple botting.. ah, my friend's bot screwed up somehow and made a bid of 17500 EUR on the item with ~40EUR value ; ) luckily no one lifted price above 75EUR ; )
Anyway it is impossible to prevent any kind of bots, since there is no way to determine if that's a bot or a human, granted if bot is implemeted 'correctly'.

Actually 2 and 3 do make sense, though I personally find it a bit more complicated in comparison how ebay works now.
250  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [1 BTC BOUNTY CLAIMED!] Get 6 radeon 7970 installing and mining in Windows on: June 22, 2013, 12:14:54 AM
Does anyone else's GPU in the shorted presence pin slot run hotter than the rest?  Mine in the one slot runs 8-10C hotter than all the other cards, including the cards in the very middle.  The cards are exact same and are all equally spaced apart.  It even runs 5C hotter than the card that is directly above the CPU heatsink.

Not a big deal as I undervolt a bit, just curious

cmon, swap them and check..
also 'equally spaced apart' does not matter unless you thermally isolate them from each other.
and the one above the cpu heatsink theoretically should be cooler a bit, cause cpu heatsink will suck hot air from that card, assuming you have stock heatsink.
251  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay on: June 21, 2013, 04:08:20 PM
While at it I also must say that eBay auction system could see some improvements.

1st - no automated bidding or reserve prices and maximum bidding.
2nd - no last minute bidding. If someone bids at the end of the auction - auction is prolonged by the amount of time, chosen by owner of the item, ie 10 minutes.
3nd - could set price increments.

1st - not possible
2nd - that will defeat the whole purpose of ebay.. you better create your own service ; )
also I don't understand ebay bidders who bid NOT last seconds of the auction.. that makes no sense to the buyers.
3d - why?

As a buyer and a seller I'm very satisified how ebay works right now.
As a buyer I do use some legal tricks to buy cheap and as a seller I also use some tricks to make the price go up ; )))

p.s. "Reserve price" ; )

wow.

Indeed, TechPowerUp 13.1 is different from 13.1 from AMD, looks like techpowerup's version is older.
CH 151 592.inf vs CH 154 961.inf
ofc if those numbers actually mean anything ; )

Differences both in the driver and opencl packages.
edit: though OpenCL msi's are different, but contents is the same.

+edit: differences are only in the .inf files(for driver), so it may be configuration(registry) related
254  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Catalyst 13.4 screwed 7970, how to sort out? on: June 18, 2013, 08:31:29 PM
give me 2 hours max, some reward and remote access(vnc/teamviewer) to ur pc and u will be hashing again at ur original rate or higher.

Well I have about 50 PPcoins but not in a position to mine anything new now! I can't offer access to the PC as it has work stuff on it & I'd get dragged over hot coals if something got trashed. If you have suggestions I'm happy to try them & if you provide the solution that works for me, give me a PPC address & they're yours.

something won't get trashed cause u'll be sitting and starring at the monitor watching what I'm doing ; )
though video of s1 getting dragged over hot coals sounds like fun > : )

Why do you even install CCC?

Install the drivers via inf files? Or locate individual install files for display drivers after extracting the main driver zipped file?

0) Download and run amd_cleanup_util_1.2.1.0.exe, use google to find it
1) Download Catalyst from amd.com
2) Run it
3) When it asks 'where you want.. blah-blah.. to extract?' specify "C:\temp\bzzz"
4) After unpacking finished and it asks you to press "next", press "cancel" instead
5) Press "Windows button"+PAUSE, open Hardware(win xp)->"Device Manager" or Control Panel->System->Device Manager
6) Find your GPU under 'Display adapters'
7) right click->update->browse my computer->let me pick from a list->have disk->C:\temp\bzzz\AMD\Support\12-6_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF -> OK
8_) After installation go to Control Panel->Administrative tools->Services and disable 'AMD External Events service'
9*) If after all this cgminer/GPUZ reports that there is no OpenCL, go to C:\temp\bzzz\AMD\Support\12-6_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql\Packages\Apps\OpenCL64 and run OpenCL.msi

path in step 7 could be different.

If you need the latest ASICs to work on a Mac you can use the bfgminer 3.1 binary in MacMiner

also afaik bfgminer does not use libusb.

ppl say that w8 allows to use one GPU more than w7.
Though I'm running w7(w2k8 r2 +Catalyst 12.6 to be exact) with 6GPUs with no issues.
260  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU working at half speed... Opencl and ADL mismatch? on: June 17, 2013, 03:25:52 PM
setx DISPLAY ":0"
- no need for dummy on w2k8 r2

Was getting ADL mismatch and GPU-Z "OpenCL bug detected" messages because Windows installed drivers from auto update, then even after ATI driver installation it used those 'old' libraries -> disable installing drivers from online and delete amdocl*, opencl* from System32/SysWOW64; I've also deleted all *amd*.* from sys32/wow64.
