2401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: May 05, 2014, 03:33:30 AM
I'm not sure about 2014, but I feel Goldcoin (GLD) will rise to compete toe-to-toe with Bitcoin over the long term.
2402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Poll - 2014/05 on: May 04, 2014, 06:02:40 PM
Thanks for adding Goldcoin (GLD) to the poll! Cheesy

Nice website!

I just wanted to make one correction that Goldcoin (GLD) launched in May 2013 not July 2013.

Please pick 3 of the most promising alternate coins

Please Explain your choice.

The fact that you have MaidSafeCoin on your list and not Goldcoin (GLD) has me somewhat concerned for your sanity........

With half the coins listed being instamine scams yes goldcoin would fit right in.

Anyone who honestly believes that Goldcoin is a scam is either a.) uneducated in the recent history of the currency , or b.)  has a full-blown conspiracy theory complex.

Or keeps uptodate with independent analysis;

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins#goldcoin

I've seen that and it's an incomplete analysis to say the least. Read the comments in the relevant thread to understand why.

2407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: May 01, 2014, 09:52:43 PM
FYI:

The testing phase of CCE3 is complete and CCE3 is now in production on www.cryptocoinexplorer.com.

This means the testing address gold.cryptocoinexplorer.com is no longer valid and the main address gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com is the active address.

I started a new CCE thread when the conversion took place and locked all the old threads. The current CCE thread is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=584847

CCE3 has a very efficient and easy to use API. Instructions can be found here: http://www.cryptocoinexplorer.com/api.html

The Goldcoin development team has a key to use the new developers message box feature not seen on any other explorer site.

If you have not been on CCE lately, give it a look, many things have changed over the last few weeks.  Smiley

Thank you for your work in maintaining the block explorer. It's an invaluable resource for the entire community.

Is there an ETA on the java client?

Akumaburn took a break from his code long enough yesterday to tell me - he's almost there!

2409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi Nakamoto True Identity to be Revealed on: April 27, 2014, 12:50:08 AM
Former Gawker writer Adrian Chen has announced on Twitter that he’ll Doxx Satoshi Nakamoto this Wednesday. Doxxing is a process of exposing someone’s true identity.

The American freelance journalist, currently working as an editor for The New Inquiry, promised that there would be a live doxxing of Satoshi Nakamoto at IRL Club on Wednesday, April 30th, at 7:30PM.

Hello!  Grin

I noticed since dreamwatcher updated the explorers to CCE3 there have been a few broken links on coinmarketcap.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576209.msg6308092#msg6308092

For example if you click the coin totals for GLD and WDC a 404 error page is returned.

The link should change from http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chain/goldcoin to simply http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

Thanks for the great service you are providing to the cryptocurrency community.

Great job with the book! I can't wait to buy the first edition.  Smiley

One thing I would correct is that I am not the founder of Goldcoin (I'm the founder of the current Goldcoin forum). The founder of Goldcoin is "Unknown". He used several aliases, so I think "Unknown" would be best to describe him.

I didn't become involved with the currency until June 2013. This was the point at which we began the rebuilding process and assembling the current team. There is also a long list of useful URLs in the first post of this thread.

Thanks for making this awesome thread!

Just for the record, Goldcoin (GLD) was updated on April 9th (not the 10th).  Cheesy

Yes! that's the article I was talking about.

really impressive, this coin might be a very big surprise in the future with such a dev.

A pitty that it's quite silent here on Bitcointalk about this coin ( or maybe an opportunity to mine it easy for the moment :p )

Thanks. I wrote that article!  Smiley

This coin has quite an interesting past with lots of colorful characters that have come and gone. At one point, before the current team was in place, Goldcoin was probably one of the most drama-filled coins on bitcointalk.

Someone even once wrote an article suggesting that Satoshi was the original developer. lol

Locked away behind a sophisticated firewall, a series of routers and switches, and a maze of multi-colored network cables, is a soft-spoken software developer on a mission. The goal, to take his growing cryptocurrency securely to the industry’s cutting edge – once again.

What if a wallet could be written in Java that would run on any platform? What if this wallet was open-source, modular, and supported plugins for other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin? Well, according to Goldcoin (GLD) lead developer, Amir Eslampanah, who invented the coin’s 51% defense system, his latest creation to be released soon, will do exactly that:

Quote
In terms of wallet functionality, modularity, security, and sheer performance, the Goldcoin wallet will be unrivaled. Block download times will also be increased considerably thanks to on-the-fly compression and multi-threaded download capability.

This should be viewed as more welcome news by Goldcoin investors, and comes on the heels of the recent IRS ruling that saw the GLD price rise more than 50% during the past week.

2418  Economy / Speculation / Re: why the sudden drop in price? came outa nowhere? on: April 08, 2014, 12:28:57 AM
why the sudden drop in price? came outa nowhere?

I think Overstock and other retailers could be divesting some of their BTC inventory.

It's important to note that many investors are still bullish on cryptocurrencies, just not Bitcoin at the moment.

2419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What three altcoins do you have the majority of your money in? on: April 07, 2014, 01:18:11 AM
I only own two coins.  Smiley

1.) Goldcoin (GLD)
2.) Bitcoin (BTC)
2420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much longer do you think Bitcoin will last? on: April 07, 2014, 01:14:35 AM
Or will it be replaced and deemed useless by another upcoming Cryptocurrency in the next month? Voice your opinion here!

I think Bitcoin will maintain a top 5 status for many years to come. But watch out for the altcoins, a few are rising and fast.  Smiley
