2421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Brave' browser starts paying bitcoins on: October 06, 2016, 06:04:38 AM
I don't find it interesting and I am afraid that this project will fail hard, who will pay only to be able to browse without ads when he can use a better browser + Adblock for free?Only a few people will do it just to show their support the rest will install it and try to earn a few satoshi using it.

maybe you should check out the project first and then give your opinion against it.

this browser is not for paying to visit sites or even getting paid to visit sites. it is one of the smallest features it is offering.

the main focus is on blocking all the ads and unwanted scripts that may be running in the background automatically.

brave's main focus is to block sites while still paying webmasters.. BUT
USERS wont focus on paying to block ads.. theres other tools that do that for free.
USERS will focus on getting paid by clicking as many adverts or viewing as many adverts available.

this is why brave needs to really work on making it sustainable otherwise it will get abused by USERS

I gave the browser a try yesterday night and apparently only the option of depositing money to give away to websites is available at the moment. There isn't a hint of users getting back some revenue from watching 'safe' ads or at least I couldn't find any. I don't think anyone would prefer the Brave browser over a 'normal' browser like Firefox or Chrome etc. Clicking all day on ads in a sub-par browsing experience just to earn a few Satoshis doesn't look attractive to me. Also if users don't want to pay money to the websites the rewards for viewing the sponsored ads will be even lower, right?
2422  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people interested in arbitrage betting | Make risk free money! on: October 05, 2016, 09:38:21 PM
I think you need to keep loaded with money accounts on the most popular Bitcoin sportsbooks because opportunities for arbitrage betting don't last long and you need to act momentarily in order to jump on the good odds before they change and the opportunity to make a good % of profit is gone.
By the way at what time do you usually play your arbitrage bets like in the afternoon or in the evening because people might be outside during that time and I don't think that we could place such bets while on the move with a cellphone.
This method of cashing out deposit bonuses on fiat sportsbooks was very popular in the past. People would deposit money to new sportsbooks then cycle through the deposit bonus playing winning bets on one book and losing the corresponding opposite bets on the other then withdraw the bonus money and go to the next one. Rinse and repeat for easy cash without any risks involved.
2423  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Exodus multi-asset Bitcoin wallet on: October 05, 2016, 06:20:32 PM
Hey guys,

so I was checking my emails today and stumbled upon this marketing email from ShapeShift about some new Bitcoin wallet which has the functionality of an exchange site built-in so people don't need to leave the wallet to convert between coins. I was very impressed by this statement and went on to check the Exodus wallet official website. I liked the simple but beautiful UI and decided to download it and give it a try. However I am kinda worried about putting too many coins on this new software because I am not sure if it has been audited yet and it seems it contains closed-source code. Has anyone else used this Exodus wallet or are you familiar with its advantages or disadvantages compared to other more established wallets? And most importantly - is it safe to use it?

Thank you for your insight.
2424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Brave' browser starts paying bitcoins on: October 05, 2016, 05:44:25 PM
The concept of including Bitcoin transactions within the Brave browser itself is very interesting. I don't get one thing though. Why the heck would users prefer to pay money to websites to not see their ads? I mean supporting people is a noble thing but come on. I don't think this 'groundbreaking' idea will take off when we have more or less free alternatives like Ad-Block and many others. Browsing the Internet should be free of ads by default and paying money to strip the ads from the webpages is just a travesty.
2425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: All Things Hockey - Ice Hockey Tips & Value Bets @ Very High Odds on: October 05, 2016, 06:12:38 AM
Hello guys! This is my 3rd bet for this week!

The 3rd single bet will be the Finland: Liiga game between Assat Pori v Vaasan Sport
Starting date and time: 05.10.2016 18:30 (sportsbet.io time)

This event can be found here:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/live/icehockey/finland/liiga/assat-pori-v-vaasan-sport/event/9766053?ref=tipster10

Game: Assat Pori v Vaasan Sport
Betting option: Draw no bet - Assat Pori
Odds: 1.65
Stake: 0.015 (15mbtc)
Return: 0.02475 (24.75mbtc)

Proof:

Why I chose this game?

Assat Pori are on 13th place and Vaasan Sport are on 7th place. Vaasan Sport have won 3 of their away matches so far this season. Assat Pori have won 3 of their home games with the last on being on 29.09.16 when they defeated the Pelicans 3-1. Assat Pori have also had 2 more days to get rest for today's match, and I expect them to be highly motivated to win it considering their position on the leaderboard at the moment. It will probably be a very tight match with Assat Pori winning in the end, however in order to minimize the risk I opted for Draw no bet if the match ends in a tie in regulation time. Good luck & have fun everyone  Cheesy
2426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the primary lessons you earn after you gamble? on: October 04, 2016, 05:42:57 PM
Lesson number 1 for me is to listen to your heart. More often than not my bets would have won if I followed my intuition. However I have been swayed back in the last minute following the most popular tips for the day which ended up losing in the end. I will say it again: if you are sure about something and feel like it's the right decision, then go for it!
Statistics can be wrong and favorites can lose. Also sometimes it's more lucrative to bet against the public as scary as this might sound  Wink
2427  Other / Off-topic / Re: Save you Bitcoin for your (grand) child / children? on: October 04, 2016, 02:12:39 PM
I see Bitcoin as a long-term financial project and as such it hasn't reached its full potential yet. I have a long-term bank savings account I haven't touched in years and I treat my Bitcoin wallet the same way. I will make sure that my children or grandchildren will have something left from me when the time comes. Spending Bitcoin now or saving it for the future is up to everyone to decide for themselves. I think both directions are right because Bitcoin might not be worth much in the future, but it could always go the other way around of course  Wink
2428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who here bets more than $1000 a game? on: October 04, 2016, 01:21:32 PM
I have done this on a couple of occasions when I was very certain about particular outcomes of sports games. I am not proud of it and I do not recommend betting obscene amounts of money on sports games. However I have to admit the feeling of euphoria and the rush of adrenaline when you have won your huge bets are second to none. But playing with such amounts of money is dangerous and in general not recommended. Only do it if you have a lot of disposable income and possible losses won't affect your lifestyle much  Wink
2429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: All Things Hockey - Ice Hockey Tips & Value Bets @ Very High Odds on: October 04, 2016, 06:27:30 AM
Hello guys! This is my 2nd bet for this week!

The 2nd single bet will be the Russia: KHL game between HC Red Star Kunlun v HC Sochi
Starting date and time: 04.10.2016 14:30 (sportsbet.io time)

This event can be found here:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/live/icehockey/russia/khl/hc-red-star-kunlun-v-hc-sochi/event/9803779?ref=tipster10

Game: HC Red Star Kunlun v HC Sochi
Betting option: Totals - Over 4.5
Odds: 1.82
Stake: 0.015 (15mbtc)
Return: 0.02730 (27.30mbtc)

Proof:

Why I chose this game?

HC Red Star Kunlun are a Chinese-based hockey club that joined the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) prior to the 2016–17 season. They play very aggressively at home against big favorites and tend to score goals. The previous game between HC Red Star Kunlun and HC Sochi ended 3-1 for HC Sochi at home. Today I expect HC Red Star Kunlun to make up for that loss with motivated & aggressive play against the same opponent. HC Sochi usually score at least a couple of goals in their away games so over 4.5 goals in this match is my value bet of the day. Good luck everyone betting today and most importantly don't forget to have fun  Grin
2430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: From 5 mBTC to 526 mBTC in couple hours! on: October 03, 2016, 06:56:29 PM
Nice winnings mate and congratulations on your amazing luck I should say. Getting to 500mbtc from just 5 is no small feat whatsoever. However some casinos usually put a maximum threshold of profit one could make from a free bet and I am not sure if this pertains to your case but it would be a good idea to contact the manager before withdrawing so as to avoid any frozen funds or stalling of your withdrawal. Once again good job and enjoy your money  Cheesy
2431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 92 gigs? Wowwzers. on: October 03, 2016, 05:17:00 PM
I haven't run Bitcoin Core ever because I am not interested in operating a node or using it for daily transactions so I have never installed it on my laptop. But I am curious if there is any difference in performance between running Core on a normal HDD or on a SSD. Because I would assume that a SSD would make the update process speedier. Anyways a 240GB SSD costs as much as a 1TB HDD so I guess I would go with the SSD if 240GB will last me till 2020 plus I could always repurpose the SSD later on.
2432  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin core software on smartphone on: October 03, 2016, 04:39:18 PM
Even if a pruned version of the Blockchain is stored somehow on smartphones this won't alleviate the issue of downloading new chunks of data every single day because there are constant updates to the Blockchain. And every time a phone tries to connect it would be out of sync and would need to download the new data before it could move funds I guess so in the end it's a lot of hassle to even bother with something like this when dedicated lightweight mobile Bitcoin wallets already exist.

Hello guys! This is my 1st bet for this week!

The 1st single bet will be the Russia: KHL game between Dinamo Riga v HC Dynamo Moscow
Starting date and time: 03.10.2016 19:30 (sportsbet.io time)

This event can be found here:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/live/icehockey/russia/khl/dinamo-riga-v-hc-dynamo-moscow/event/9803773?ref=tipster10

Game: Dinamo Riga v HC Dynamo Moscow
Betting option: Totals home team - Over 1.5
Odds: 1.69
Stake: 0.015 (15mbtc)
Return: 0.02535 (25.35mbtc)

Proof:

Why I chose this game?

Dinamo Riga are at the rock bottom of their division and have won only 2 games this season. Today they are playing at home against the visitors of HC Dynamo Moscow. Dinamo Riga perform considerably better on home ground and I believe they will pursue a much needed victory and score at least 2 goals tonight. Dinamo Riga are very inconsistent in their performances but I would like to take my chances with them today. Good luck and have fun everyone  Wink

Red Devils boss admits he will continue to rest men in Europe but is adamant he will respect the competition

He says he is determined to win it but the truth is that he doesn't care about it and will continue to rest more players for the Premier League games where he is letting go of the top 5 position. Now after that draw with Stoke I am 100% sure Europa League is put on the back burner.

All in all UEFA is not important for English clubs.
2435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: October 03, 2016, 05:15:57 AM
But Manchester United have problems in the Premier League and not performing as expected despite spending all this money for new expensive players. Also Mourinho himself has said that English teams don't care much about UEFA championships because Premier League is their main target every year. And I think the United board won't be happy if United are out of the Champions League again next year due to lower ranking in the local championship.
2436  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would u still use Bitcoin if u were a USD multi millionaire? on: October 02, 2016, 02:43:17 PM
If I were the spoiled offspring of some rich family I would probably not because I would have been too busy partying my life away with other spoiled little brats in some fancy night clubs and restaurants.
If I were a self-made millionaire I would have already invested in Bitcoin before it hit the news because as a highly successful entrepreneur I would have seen the potential.

Sadly I am neither of these 2 things  Grin

Hello guys! This is my 7th bet for this week!

The 7th single bet will be the Russia: KHL game between JOKERIT HELSINKI v LOKOMOTIV YAROSLAVL

Starting date and time: 02.10.2016 16:00 (sportsbet.io time)

This event can be found here:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/live/icehockey/russia/khl/jokerit-helsinki-v-lokomotiv-yaroslavl/event/9803761?ref=tipster10

Game: JOKERIT HELSINKI v LOKOMOTIV YAROSLAVL
Betting option: Totals - Over 4.5
Odds: 2.24
Stake: 0.010 (10mbtc)
Return: 0.02240 (22.40mbtc)

Proof:

Why I chose this game?

LOKOMOTIV YAROSLAVL are in form and last 4 games they have scored 3 goals on average per match. JOKERIT HELSINKI haven't won 3 games in a row and H2H stats show that last 2 games between these 2 opponents ended 3-1 so 4 goals on average per match. I do believe that the teams will surpass this statistics and score at least 5 goals today and given the great odds of 2.24 for over 4.5 this is my value bet of the day. Good luck to everyone betting today and have fun  Cheesy

2438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is see the new pump is building up, $660 in 2 weeks on: October 01, 2016, 11:08:00 PM
I doubt it that we will see any substantial pump before Christmas. I think we will be very lucky if the price gets around $750 in December. The real pump & dump should be starting next year. As the halving didn't do much of a change I suppose it's up to the whales now to get the ball moving again. But we are due a big pump so be ready to act quickly when it comes  Wink
2439  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you like to receive your salary in BTC? on: October 01, 2016, 01:08:17 PM
Another downside of receiving your monthly salary in Bitcoin is the fees you will be paying at Bitcoin exchanges upon converting the coins back to cash. This is something that puts me off when thinking about going fully into Bitcoin. All these fees and surcharges are unnecessary and honestly I would prefer to use fiat for my salary directly and exchange to Bitcoin from there when needed.
2440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The danger of the cyptocurrencies on: October 01, 2016, 11:33:43 AM
Guys people have been living 'cashless' long before Bitcoin was first created. In Iceland for example people don't carry paper money with them at all and payments in cafe shops etc. are done with credit and debit cards. Also Bitcoin debit cards are tied to the banks and exchanges issuing them so going cashless doesn't simply mean embracing Bitcoin. Bitcoin is not a 'cashless' alternative to conventional bank cards but an additional option on top of it. You can buy a Starbucks gift card and become 'cashless' or get your phone out and pay with your Apple wallet. Again - 'cashless'.
I see no danger whatsoever of going cashless.
