Bitcoin is a long term project. Therefore it makes sense to save small parts over a long horizon. Do you save Bitcoins for your (grand) child or children?
For those who do not have (grand) children (yet), would you save Bitcoin for them if you would have (grand) children?
I think everyone is thinking for their children first and if they have grand children then they should think for the future of their gran children and save money for them, and for me the answer is yes i want to save bitcoins for my grand son/ daughter to give them a good future and also to meet their study and other expenses. I am already a father - actually a new father because my wife just delivered our first baby. I see that it will take many years from now since I will see my grandchildren but I am already saving a portion of my bitcoin for that purpose. Aside from that, I also save a portion of my fiat money for the future of my descendants.

I see Bitcoin as a long-term financial project and as such it hasn't reached its full potential yet. I have a long-term bank savings account I haven't touched in years and I treat my Bitcoin wallet the same way. I will make sure that my children or grandchildren will have something left from me when the time comes. Spending Bitcoin now or saving it for the future is up to everyone to decide for themselves. I think both directions are right because Bitcoin might not be worth much in the future, but it could always go the other way around of course

I would love to give something more then "money" to my children or grandchildren, if I ever have them. For now I'm earning and spending, saving just a little bit here and there. I think I will have fun couple more years before I decide to have children, and to save for them. I see good plan in this, if someone earn a lot of coins and have opportunity to put something on a side that will worth a lot one day. I will think more about this!

This is actually the best thought I have ever seen on this forum... One of the best gifts to be given by you to your child or grand children will be bitcoins, as bitcoins have future and if it will still exist, then I think it will prove to be the best investment of you for your upcoming ones...
Yeah but would you take the risk of saving trough so much effort only for it to be worth nothing when they reach age of adulthood? I wouldn't do it cause I would be afraid of the value in those years, I'd rather save for them in gold.

I think it's to early to do that, saving bitcoin for my children. Because i'm still 20 and i'm not even have a girlfriend, lol. But i will do it for sure, if i already married and have a child.
But, with the respect to saving money or bitcoin, starting earlier must be the right option. I like to suggest as you got very good opportunity to make your married life as well as your children's lives more prosperous if you plan up right away. Starting saving bitcoin earlier in the age of 20 itself, must be life's very big gift. You may get chances of becoming millionaire by your 30th birthday itself and your son may born as millionaire too. Yes, to save bitcoin for your children, you need not to be even married. Yes, you can start saving even you are being a child. Saving as a child for your child is possible with bitcoin and it is mostly recommended in my view too. Because, saving bitcoin must be possible and profitable only for our generation. There is no guarantee that same opportunity will be available to our son or grandson. That must be right point. Saving bitcoin would be possible when bitcoin having comparatively lower price levels and mining is possible. In future mining will become so hard so bitcoin prices will be very high. At the time you can not save bitcoin for yourself then how we could save for our next generations?

There will not be any meaning on saving bitcoin when bitcoin gets stable value always. Once bitcoin gets more stable value people will start using bitcoin as currency, hopefully. When more people are using bitcoin as currency, bitcoin will not fetch huge returns like what it is doing right now.

Bitcoin will not get stable value within next hundred years too. Because, when bitcoin mining reward goes decreased, the demand for bitcoins will keep on rising so bitcoin prices will go volatile and higher always. So, saving bitcoin definitely will be profitable for your grandson. Do not miss this opportunity, save for them.

I must say that I'm pretty young and due to that I do not think that this will be an option honestly. Of course it can be done if you are older and its maybe nice but I'm not gonna do it right now.

I am still unmarried so I don't think I will be able to save for them as may be in next few years bitcoin will be replaced by some other currency and in that case it will waste my coins, so I will prefer to spend them on myself.
If you are not married then it do not mean that you will not marry for the whole life one day you will get married and then you will have your family and they will have their demands and if you did not start to think about that expenditures from now then you will not be able to fulfill them and will be a burden on you.

I don't have any descendants and have zero plans to squirt any out. However I do like the idea of holding some back to leave to my one thousand cats or pet extreme right wing organisation.
By the time I'm properly old we should be into the true deflationary phase and I'll regret everything I ever bought with it back in the day.
HAHA totally agree. everytime i buy something now or send a transaction i dont really need to do i think some day i will prob think back to this and think that cost me a fortune back in the day.......

Human populations need to reproduce has fallen off in most places that are not a third world Country. So you combine that with the issue of the majority of bitcoin adopters being male, under 35 and you will have very few people giving this a honest shake. Its hard for many to see what tomorrow brings financially and now you want us to think about the long term! Bitcoin will have evolved by that point as the current set up is already showing wear and tear issues that point to it missing a few steps to be functional in day to day. Hazard to guess bitcoin will be like my cassette tapes or vhs in the basement, next to the binders of hockey cards.

Even after mining reward goes to zero, there is no guarantee that demand for bitcoin will get stabilised so that bitcoin will get stable prices. The demand for bitcoin will keep on rising exponentially with the respect to new people adoption rate. So, saving bitcoin for our grandchildren and their grandchildren will be profitable in my predictions too.

Well for me i am not sure that bitcoin will be more valuable in the future because there is still possibility that bitcoin will crash and alternative are altcoin to use in the future.. just lets hope that it can be happen since many investors and many users of bitcoin are hoping for more price increase for bitcoin..

Well said, because one day we will surely regret why did we use our Bitcoins when we had the chance to save it but we didn't... Just like you, I am still single currently but going to get married soon and I think it's better for me to save these coins for my (unborn) children at least so that these might help me to give them a better life in future...

I think saving some for future generations is a good idea especially since the value could continue to increase over time due to the deflationary character of bitcoin. It could be worth much more for them than it is for us.
