2421  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-16]Document Trigger False Alarm: Bitcoin Mining Is Illegal in China on: November 16, 2017, 01:35:02 AM
Quote
It’s said the cost for generating one bitcoin is around 20,000 yuan at the moment, of which 15,000 is for power.

This is really interest, but anyone knows if this number is true?

20,000 yuan - 3019,92 US Dollar
15,000 yuan - 2264,94 US DOllar

1 BTC = 47702,67 yuan

So, it cost 0,42 BTC to produce one BTC in China?

2422  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-15]Square's Cash App: A New Place To Buy And Sell Bitcoin on: November 15, 2017, 03:24:41 AM
https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2017/11/14/squares-cash-app-a-new-place-to-buy-and-sell-bitcoin/#30e3a6934ce3

Some customers of Square's Cash app have gotten a surprise in the past week.

The app, which is used for payments between friends and is a competitor to Venmo, has also given them the option to buy or sell Bitcoin.

A few rejoiced on Twitter -- probably much to the delight of Square CEO Jack Dorsey, who is also CEO of the social media site.

"since when can you buy bitcoin through @SquareCash?!" wrote one.

"OMG! Just noticed I can now invest in Bitcoin using my Cash app! I seriously think this is my most useful app....ever," tweeted another.

A Square spokesperson said in a statement: “We’re always listening to our customers and we’ve found that they are interested in using the Cash App to buy Bitcoin. We're exploring how Square can make this experience faster and easier, and have rolled out this feature to a small number of Cash App customers. We believe cryptocurrency can greatly impact the ability of individuals to participate in the global financial system and we're excited to learn more here.”

For now, the app only allows users to buy, sell and hold Bitcoins, but not to make payments to friends with the cryptocurrency, which is the app's primary function with dollars.
2423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kyber ICO on: November 15, 2017, 02:51:37 AM
Kyber team is very active latter with partnerships. But I think people are expecting more product developer, more code. Because the price is pretty low. BTC forks have really mess with the great projects like Kyber.
2424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: November 15, 2017, 02:41:34 AM
Ripple is stable for many days now. But the volume is still big. I believe there is a lot of big whales buying to accumulate waiting for some big news. There is a lot of insiders information on Crypto.
2425  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-14]Bitcoin moving in on Monero Confidential Transactions (CT) on: November 14, 2017, 06:39:42 PM
Bitcoin and Litecoin moving in on Monero Confidential Transactions (CT)

http://oracletimes.com/bitcoin-and-litecoin-moving-in-on-monero-confidential-transactions-ct/

Confidential Transactions (CT) It is no secret that the success of Monero since January 1, 2017 is directly linked to the overall cryptomarket bull run but also in its unique quality of confidential transactions.

Today Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin, announced via Twitter that both Bitcoin and Litecoin are working to achieve CT and will be able to implement via a “soft” fork.

Confidential Transactions (CT) are important for several reasons and most of them are perhaps illegal. For the tin foil community CT means the government cannot track movements of currency or payments made between parties. This facilitates shielding from the ever present big brother but also allows transfer of currency across borders of nations without scrutiny.

The benefit of this should be obvious. Currently national currencies are tied in value to the backing of the printing nation with the US Dollar as the benchmark. Problems occur when a currency crisis such as the Asian Financial crisis in 1997 causes widespread devaluation of currency backed by a nation in reference to the US Dollar. This forced the IMF to step in to provide money to stabilize South Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia. The widespread inflation wiped out the savings of regular people in these nations and bankrupted many companies.

If a currency could be created that was not backed by nations, could flow across borders without scrutiny, and was not subject to taxation then it would be insulated again the currency fluctuation of any nation and traded on one standard worldwide.

As Cryptocurrency has value now many nations such as the United States are stepping in with policies for taxation and tracking for illegal activities. The Silk Road was brought down (along with some federal agents) through the tracking of Bitcoin Wallets and transactions on a public searchable blockchain.

2426  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-14]Chinese officicals ban using state energy for mining on: November 14, 2017, 06:21:24 PM
Right now this is sad news. We do not have many farms outside China to sustain Bitcoin. It will be even more worst to Litecoin and Dash, they could be almost destroyed.

But in the long term, this could be great for the decentralization. More countries, especially the poor with cheap energy, could make Bitcoin farm a great commodity.
2427  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-14]Donors Use Bitcoin for Tax Benefits and to Keep Tabs on Spending[NYT on: November 14, 2017, 05:42:22 PM
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/06/business/bitcoin-charity-donations.html?_r=0

Like many Americans, Brad Hines spent much of September watching hours of hurricane coverage on television.

For Mr. Hines, a digital marketing strategist in Boston, the storms hit close to home: Several family members in Florida were affected by Hurricane Irma. As the devastation unfolded, he opened his computer and donated money to the Red Cross, but it was not in cash.

He gave in Bitcoin, which the Red Cross has been accepting since late 2014. He could have donated dollars, but, he said, the more he can use the cryptocurrency for buying goods and giving to charity, the more it will be used by others.

“I want to pitch in and help get the currency adopted,” he said. “And it’s also fun to use.”

It was his first donation with Bitcoin, the virtual currency that was created in 2008, but it will not be his last. As more charities accept digital currency, the more likely he will open his virtual wallet instead of his physical one, he said.
2428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most UNDERRATED ICO's? :o on: November 14, 2017, 05:38:10 PM
people are talking about projects that have already passed the ICO phase. ICO is just a process like IPO and lasts less than 2 months.

I would say Oracles Network is underrated. I do not see anyone talking about, but it is a great idea with a strong team that could be a major success.
2429  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-13]Institutional investors close to adopting bitcoin on: November 13, 2017, 11:43:56 PM

Institutional investors close to adopting bitcoin, says ex-Fortress executive Novogratz

Mike Novogratz, the former macro hedge fund manager at Fortress Investment Group who has joined the mad dash for crypto-currencies, said mainstream institutional investors are about six to eight months away from adopting bitcoin.

Novogratz said he expects major financial firms will soon start to offer bitcoin or similar products as an investment option, one that could be easily purchased over the phone.

"When it's that easy, the price of bitcoin or ethereum is going to go much higher. And that is a lot closer than people think," said Novogratz, who spoke at the Reuters Global 2018 Investment Outlook Summit in New York.

Novogratz is now chief executive of Galaxy Investment Partners, a firm that bets on cryptocurrencies and related businesses.

2431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: November 13, 2017, 08:57:23 PM
current job openings at ripple:

given china's super strict laws on crypto, WOW #playTheLongGame

This is great. Some projects do not have anyone working full time, and Ripple has a great team and is hiring more people. This will make the difference in the long term.
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about upcoming fork on: November 13, 2017, 08:53:39 PM
You should start using the search option. This question was already answered much time in different places. And the most important is that there will not be another fork for now. Only Bitcoin Gold was created, so you will only receive that.
2433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best Cryptocurrency lending platform? on: November 13, 2017, 08:50:30 PM
Bitconnect is a scam. I hope people stop associate this scam with Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. They will soon crash and a lot of people will lose money.
2434  Economy / Economics / Re: WTF? $20.000.000.000 seem to have been poured into BCH in a couple of days on: November 13, 2017, 04:21:04 AM
And now 8 bi disappears from BCH Cheesy. It is funny how easy is to manipulate the market
2435  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I buy bitcoin cash on: November 13, 2017, 04:15:00 AM
I think you should wait for the correction because nobody knows exactly what is happing to BCH. I think is really difficult to predict how much will value next month
2436  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-12] Xapo: Biggest Bitcoin Companies Could Move to Bitcoin Cash or Eth on: November 13, 2017, 04:07:26 AM
The thing is, Bitcoin NEED other projects around. ETH has different goals than BTC. It is great that companies and industries start to adopt more of this revolutionary invention. Bitcoin will always be relevant even if they lose the first place in the marketcap ranking.
2437  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-12] Analyst: “In 4 years BTC mining won’t be profitable anymore” on: November 13, 2017, 03:57:02 AM
In four years a lot of things could change and new code could make mining still profitable. Nobody could say something so essential to Bitcoin will just stop working. But if you think well, in the beginning mining wasn't profitable.
2438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Emercoin vs Ethereum - Interview with Oleg Khovayko - Co-Founder of Emercoin on: November 11, 2017, 09:32:46 PM
One year later and nobody talks about emercoin. And ETH becomes one of the most important coin. And I see that they didn't update the git for more than 3 months. I do not see any motive to buy this coin right now.
2439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What coins or Tokens do you always check the price but never boutgh? on: November 11, 2017, 08:17:04 PM
There is some project that I like and see a lot of potentials, but I have never bought because sometimes I think the price is too high or too low. Or because I do not fully understand the project. But I always check the price. Do you have any like that?
2440  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: LTC Litecoin November Technical Analysis and Price Forecast, 100% Potential on: November 11, 2017, 07:45:03 PM
But what about the miners? Are they still supporting LTC? BCH has become the 2 choices and could be the 1 choice of some big farms. I know what I am asking is more fundamentalist than technical, but I do not have any idea about what I should expect from LTC until see some big miners supporting no matter what happens in the war between BTC and BCH.
