Quark algo:

Testing release_53. This version is running faster by ~25kh & so far very stable. Your 7z unzipped to be 18369kb in size while my Win Visual compile sized at 18381kb. Not sure why the difference. What I have found is that the older releases took up to 50 solved shares before reaching 'full speed', while this release ramped up after ~10 shares. All of this, of course, is variable due to network speeds, algo, etc. Using -i 22.9 -r 5 -R 10 --cpu-priority 2 switches. vRam usage is low and my intensity could be increased, but I like it as is. I am basing this info while mining 'quark' on WestHash (usa.nicehash.com). Getting ready to try on donation link.

ASUS i7 z77 intelchip, Win8.1, 16GB ram, ASUS 750Ti-Series_54 2G, GPUTweak OCed.

LOOKIN' GOOD sp_, djm, & gang.

edit: I keep getting 'failure to connect' on this; donate-sp.granitecoin.com:7919 for quark algo. Is there another?

Thx

I have compiled with the 31/5/2015 driver. Different drivers give different code sizes. And old drivers can crash the miner

Yup...I know about tuning...I was just letting you know. I have the latest nVidia drivers, but would like to know if this code was written with Cuda6.5 or 7? I am still using 6.5. I can see I'll have to make some switch changes. Going to default, for now.

edit: never mind...I see it's 6.5.

Yup...."It's in the works".

edit: You actually get 'renters' for your S3+s?
2423  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: June 17, 2015, 04:53:48 PM
Forgive me if this has already been addressed... and if you've been asked like 1000 times already, I apologize for making this the 1001st query Smiley.

The latest S3 binary I see is from last year and is version 4.6.1.  I know that the NH/WH guys have some version they coded based on 4.7 for the extranonce subscription.  Am I missing a newer version for the S3, or is the 4.6.1 the latest?

OK... back on topic... gee, there's a surprise about needing to push empty blocks because it's faster /sarcasm.

I know this doesn't quite answer your question, but I have the NH/WH cgminer on some of my S3+'s and it seems to mine fine.  Only problem with it is that the miner status page no longer shows any data from the bottom section.  So I cant monitor temp, asic status, fan speed, freq, etc.
I've got 8 S3s mining.  6 of them I have listed on MRR, and each of those 6 uses the NH/WH patched version of cgminer to provide renters with the option of pointing them to pools that require it.  The other 2 I have pointed at OgNasty's pool, and they are using the cgminer binary from -ck's site (4.6.1 dated from 20 Oct 2014).

All of the S3s use Bitmain's latest firmware update (antMiner_S320150109.bin).

If you flashed with the Jan 2015...that's the latest, so far. I didn't care for the NH/WH version for the reasons already explained. BitMain is no longer supporting our S3s(+), but there is a newer update coming ... and I think I quote this correctly..."It's in the works", or something to that effect. You are good until then. Don't sweat the small stuff.       Grin

Testing Release_53

x13 algo: error; " Cuda error in func 'quark_blake512_cpu_setBlock_80' at line 714 : an illegal instruction was encountered. "

I made no changes to previous setup being used with switches; -i 18.9 -r 5 -R 10 --cpu-priority 2 -a x13
required a graphics driver reinstall or reboot.

x11 algo: error " Cuda error in func 'quark_blake512_cpu_setBlock_80_multi' at line 706 : an illegal instruction was encountered. "

Again, no changes from previous switches; -g 2 -i 18.3 -r 5 -R 10 --cpu-priority 2 -a x11
required graphics driver reinstall or reboot.

OK...that's all the testing I can do today. Am going back to 51.

Just an FYI: Not sure if anyone is aware of this...we MAY be picking up some more hashpower. BTCGuild is closing up shop.

Edit: not sure if I like that idea or not. Our luck has been pretty good and I like the bigger payout. Anybody else think that too?

submitted a small speedup in quark. Merged 2 kernals.

@sp_ Does this only apply to quark?

edit: TESTED. Compiled from latest git D/L. Noted that the speed difference, if any, is very small & unable to be determined due to quark mining, yaamp pool network speeds. However, the vRam was measurable /w latest code being 4k less than previous. Ran on ASUS GTX750Ti_Df_series 2G /w 6pin connect. My meter is busted so I can't give you any power usage read-outs. Compile size difference; Old: 17985kb New: 17926kb

Let me know when further testing is needed. Please give me link to your quark_yaamp pool address for testing/donation purposes.

Thank You

If we can somehow manage, without the side-line interference, to get back on thread topic...that would be wonderful. Otherwise, there must be another thread to take the conversation concerning open/closed source too. Thanx

Now....sp_...dude, where ya at? Need anything? I'm gettin ready for bed...it's only 2:30am here..so sleep might be in the works. Let me know in the morning.

ah man, going closed source.....

I donated a beer!!!!!!!!!...... lol. I did though.

So, how does one get in on this closed source action.

To clear it up...it started with one dev not saying anything, another saying something about not enough, another saying he wasn't playing, plus a member stirring the pot.

In other words...nothing has changed, as of now. Did that help? lol

Happy Mining!

EDIT; Go Fuck yourself BENSAM....you are nothing but trouble. It is you who should be ashamed!!!!!

lol I love the ignore button. Spread the love, dont hate Grin

I'm lookin' for that botton now...thanks, didn't know it existed.

Edit; found it...Wanted to smash his face in. Such a troublemaker...Thank You for letting me know about the button.

Gentlemen...Gentlemen...DOWN!!

Allow me to explain something. Bensam1231..BACK THE FUCK OFF! I have been in this thread for quite some time and have happily donated what I could, when I could to the devs. I am getting sick & tired of your constant bitching because you don't think something is going your way. It is very obvious to me, and most others, that you want to play God. News flash.....you are not God and these ppl are not for sale. GET OFF THIS BUS!

Now...I for one, am a small-time private miner. I got into this as a hobby and what it says in the area below is true. I am a stuck at home indivdual that mines for pleasure. I don't have a lot of BTC or any other crypto for that matter but gladly devote my time, electricity, & effort to test. It's fun to see how this stuff runs. Why should I take time to do this & let someone come in and say...OK Dude, thanks for helping now pay me for this code I just wrote. I don't code...I leave that to these ppl, that understand it.

I'm really pissed off at the ppl that do nothing to help, but have a bunch of whining to do because they want it their way. This ain't Mickey D's. I am sorry that some of the users in here are just that...users. Most of us know the time put into coding and try to give back.

To the devs...I'm apologizing for the leeches. No controlling that, but if you start selling what you think is your best work to only those that can afford it, I won't be buying. And...so much for 'open source'. Ppl will lose interest, find another hobby, the world of crypto will suffer, your work will have been for nothing due to that, and there will be no 'beers' for anyone. If the 'beers' you receive are not enough, it's time to look at another line of work.

Look, I have a ton more to say, but this isn't supposed to be a bitch session. I'm not like Bensam. I like having fun, even if I'm not the Captain of the team. So....can we all just get along? AMD ppl....GET OUT. You have your own thread. Don't want to hear about it. See ya later..bye.

I look forward to further efforts devs. I'm not always here, in this thread, but I'm most usually around. I have a single, as in one, GTX750Ti, that I saved up for out of my SSD monthly allowance. I'll still test, but not if I pay for the finish code. And YES...I EXPECT the best. Why should the big guns be the only ones?

Thank You

@crysx
Here, here! I hope the devs take heed to your words.

@sp, djm, wolf, & friends (mostly)
Please take notice and know that your work is to be commended. I think I speak for most of us little guys when I say we would be left at the station were it not for you guys. I say "Here here" to the donation/anon link system.

@ the whiners, leeches, AMD users, non-donating aholes, etc
Get a life, read the header for this Nvidia forum, & if you use the work being done here, in ANY form, do the right thing. You know who you are. Your donation to these devs may be mining time, actual BTC (I'm not keen on this for my own reasons), or even volunteer development of the current code...you get my drift. If you are receiving use from it, get off your duff & give back. It's simple.

Enough...I'm done

And, another thing about losing power...it messed up my BTC chain. Anybody got a recent bootstrap.dat file? The ones online are old.

not avisable anymore. should be as fast or faster to just let bitcoind or the qt wallet do its magic.
Assuming he's on the 0.10.x core.  Prior to that, it's still better to use the bootstrap.  Explain how you chain got messed up, Capn?  Maybe you could try fixing with a rescan?
That is an assumption I made.
Figured you did, but just wanted to ensure I covered the case where he hasn't yet upgraded to the latest core.

Yup...on the latest core. When I lost power, of course the wallet didn't shut down correctly so the .dat file ended up being scrambled. It's OK tho...I only have 38 weeks left for the update. Not taking as long as I thought. Thanks anyways Guys.

It's Light Show time in FL USA. Lots of 'Boomers'...just knocked out my power for a bit. Hmmmm...could it be why my router left the scene just a while ago? Very possible.

No matter what I do to protect, even with UPS, it can't be helped. My backup batt only lasts for about 5 min., so if the juice is out longer than that, I have to wait for things to come back online.

This is the 'Lightning Capital'.

Dang is right...& then some. It's a B* setting up a new router (not as bad as a server, but that don't work /wo the router so..). Dang..lol..thing just kicked me out...the S3+ I have, kicked out the hard wire & went to WiFi...sheesh..ain't seen nothing like it. Not too sure I'm keeping this router tho. It was the only one my local BestBuy had on the shelf, & I could get one by Fri, if I order today. Gotta see how this goes. Might be calling the store.
