2421  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CRYPTO TRADING EXCHANGE & Trading Platform on: May 01, 2020, 05:48:02 PM
Thanks this is great input and apologies for posting on wrong discussion forum.
Don't worry, it's not such a big deal. There is a "Move Topic" button (I usually click it on the bottom of the page, bottom-left side) you can use to move it to the right board although I am not sure whether your current rank allows moving topics.

I've heard about Kraken years ago when I was intensely following an altcoin project, but haven't heard very much of it. Here is my personal suggestion:

First of all, there are two kinds of exchanges: centralized and decentralized. Centralized ones are more convenient, but pose lots of risks and privacy issues. They are easy to use but most of them collect your personal data and send it to authorities and intelligence for various purposes. Moreover, most of them nowadays have KYC policies which means that, depending on the exchange you're going to use, you may wake up one day having your account locked until you provide the exchange personal details such as ID card, passport, selfie pictures or whatever they request.

There's more to it than that - exit scams are a thing, some exchanges get hacked and lots of users are affected. Decentralized ones are not perfect, don't get me wrong! But I prefer less convenience over privacy and security of my funds. I have been staying away from centralized exchanges specifically for these purposes. Some of them have been abusive in my case and I have lost money because I was not willing to provide them personal documents.

Ever since the last abuse, I have moved definitively to decentralized exchanges. They are only a little bit less convenient, the list of coins is probably much smaller than Kraken's, there aren't a lot of offers and trades may take from a few minutes to hours. But remember one thing: the more users there are on the exchange, the more convenient and closer to the feeling of a currently centralized one it gets! Decentralized = peer-to-peer. It's like us exchanging Bitcoin and Ethereum between us with an escrow, but the escrow is the exchange itself.

Two DEXs (Decentralized Exchanges) I usually recommend are Atomic DEX and Bisq. Atomic DEX is my favorite one as it's very simplistic (as long as you know how to use a mobile wallet, you're basically good to go!) and trades are usually done within 15 mins. Bisq may be a bit harder for you if you are new to the crypto space (and I guess you are), but once you get the hang of it you'll love it!

Centralized exchanges are good for traders. If timing is vital for your trades, then decentralized exchanges are not the best solution (although Waves Exchange allows you to do trades much faster but I believe it is not fully decentralized). For centralized exchanges, Binance is the most popular one. But still, I advise you to give DEXs a try too! Good luck Smiley

2423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does mean "halving" actually? on: May 01, 2020, 04:07:34 PM
I feel like there is enough explanation on the Internet about this but anyways.. I'll give it a go - a different, more creative one.

Story time!

Imagine that upon the creation of Earth, there was one particular creature (Bitcoin) that God has created. It could only produce 50 gold nuggets (coins) every approximately 10 minutes all around the world. This creature was very picky: every 10 minutes, their favorite food combination (the solution for a new block) changed. The first to give it exactly its favorite food combination (to solve the block) would get all 50 nuggets (Bitcoins) as a reward while everyone else would get.. nothing!

Some nugget owners lost a few of them, there were even nugget thieves!

There is a popular story wandering around that one day, for 10 minutes, this creature had a favorite combination of food consisting in chicken strips and french fries. Two strangers (miners) from different parts of the world found this creature. One stranger gave it chicken strips, the other gave it french fries (each had done exactly 50% of the effort to solve the block). Because it was exactly the favorite food combination of the creature, it rewarded 25 nuggets to each stranger. Everyone else in the world received, again, nothing.

But God thought this creature would not receive much attention if it had produced 50 nuggets every 10 minutes forever. Hence, God thought it would be a good idea to set a limit: after every approximately 4 years, the creature would start cutting its nugget production worldwide in only half (halving), leaving a maximum supply of only 21 million nuggets.

Therefore, exactly 4 years after its birth, the same two strangers were lucky to find the creature again. For 10 minutes, the chicken had a favorite combination of two foods: peanut butter and pancakes! One of the strangers opened their backpack only to find a pancake in it. The other stranger loved peanut butter, so he always carried a little with him. The creature received a pancake and a little peanut butter which was the perfect combination, but the strangers were left surprised: this time, the creature gave each only 12 nuggets and a half!

The strangers then told the world that the creature is now producing 25 nuggets every 10 minutes - half of what it used to, as 4 years have already passed! Therefore, as the nuggets became more scarce, the world started valuing the creature and each of its nuggets more every time the production was cut in half, just like God planned.

It is not illogical to ask whether the threat actually originated from the same laboratory from which the solution originated? In any case, a good way to promote your product.
Reminds me of Zoom hiring former Facebook security head to solve the privacy & security flaws after.. they were caught silently sending users' data to Facebook. Cheesy Sounds more like a "hey, you've worked with Facebook for a while.. come teach us how to camouflage the information transfer so people won't notice anymore!" call than one to "fix flaws".

Funny and sad at the same time, especially as probably more than half of the entire world population has used Zoom now at least once for courses and meetings online..

Do you think we are all rich and able to throw money away? We all started from somewhere, if you're looking to invest in BTC then start by yourself - begging here is not the greatest idea as it's not allowed according to the Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ:

7. No begging. [5]

Start by purchasing crypto, doing micro-earning tasks such as faucets or if you have a talent and you can do it over-the-air on this forum, you can do it and get paid in crypto. There are plenty of ways you can earn if you don't want to directly put your money in it, but just remember that begging/scamming is not an option.

Roll Eyes

2428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What type of coin specifications do you have in mind that is unique or wanted? on: May 01, 2020, 12:49:31 PM
There are few use cases in crypto space that still fails no matter how many of them are popping up

1. A real Real Estate coin that can actually be used to invest in real estate properties, most I've come across are scam projects

2. It's same thing for 99% of all Artificial Intelligence projects in crypto space today, I guess some things aren't entirely needed on the blockchain technology after all

My thoughts

-How about a coin whether centralized or decentralized that can be used as means of payment on par with big companies like

i) Wepay
ii) Alipay
iii) PayPal

The fact is no single coin is capable like this today in crypto space, if Bitcoin can be used as like how alipay and Wepay are are been used in asian part of the world today BTC will have been the marginally accepted throughout the world today
I know that we're on the Altcoin board, but why do we need a coin specifically for real estate when we have Bitcoin and so many alts already? Let's make a coin for restaurants, one for toilet entry fees at airports/train stations, one for purchasing newspapers and a separate coin for every purpose..

I see absolutely no sense in the creation of a coin that serves this purpose. We can already buy properties with BTC, XMR, ETH or whatever you wish as soon as the landlord accepts it.

Bitcoin can serve as a currency to use for real estate and we have a few alts (excluding the 99.5% shitcoins right now) that under the ideal circumstances could be on par with PayPal and other payment services .. but adoption and inconvenience will never make them on par. How the hell would you teach a non-techie use crypto as easy as you teach them to use PayPal?

Centralizing such a system through blockchain may make it sound like "ooh! Blockchain is making waves!", but in reality it's going to be the same shit any other existing centralized service "using Blockchain tech" right now is. What's the purpose of using blockchain tech if it's going to be centralized..

And what makes it more scary is that the threat actor are adding features every time they released a new version in the wild. Although it is still in the development stage and not been used for attack campaigns, it doesn't mean that they won't do it. Probably they are "perfecting" it before releasing it to the wild. And with this kind of sophistication, I wouldn't be surprised in this is a state sponsored cyber groups, like North Korea's Lazarus, just my speculation.
What is even scarier is that any app update could turn a widely-used app into an immense malware that, while people use the app trustfully, scraps all the data needed from your other installed apps to steal funds from your wallets or other critical and sensitive information.

Convenience always has to come with a risk, but apparently they're like all linked to data collecting - one does direct damage (EventBot) while others (Facebook) do indirectly ..

FOSS for the win! Cheesy
2430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers are increasing on: May 01, 2020, 12:03:00 PM
Some Bitcoin doubler scams I found months ago are still up and running. Even if they were to be dropped, they would return with yet another try to scam us. A scammer will most likely continue their attempts unless someone takes a good care of them..

Anything digitally that gets adopted on a wider level or has its interest increased will become a target to more scams/hackers/malware. It's common sense that a hacker/scammer will want to push their attempts to a larger audience because this is how their chances to succeed increase as well.
2431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which of the two will you choose as a gambler? on: May 01, 2020, 11:28:00 AM
The second one "turns me off" - how secure is that option really? Because using a clipboard to copy-paste a code can easily be targetted by some malicious software and the code does not expire, which makes 2FA much safer imo.

AFAIK, you can generate 2FA through Ledger too. If privacy is your concern, you can create an isolated email address strictly to use it for a website authentication. If you create one through ProtonMail, you can use it even on Tor (protonirockerxow.onion). I'd rather have a code that expires every X seconds than have a code that never expires which anyone could use at any time to do damage to my accounts.
2432  Economy / Speculation / Re: No Suddenly price Change after Bitcoin Halving on: May 01, 2020, 11:20:16 AM
If we look at the massive dump one year before the 2016 halving, we can relate that to the massive dump we had last year.. an year before the 2020 halving! Smiley

However, it really depends on lots of factors, but I believe the third halving is way too early to predict prices based on the previous two ones. Bitcoin is still a young boy and needs to grow up. Imagine a little kid saying they wish to become a doctor when they grow up - how many times does that really become a reality?

I believe the same thing goes on with BTC right now - it could drop or soar and that depends in its entirety on what we all consider BTC to be. Safe haven asset? Nothing more than an investment? A HYIP? A currency? What does the majority consider it to be?

We decide what it really is and Bitcoin will move accordingly.

The possibility of returning the money by the police is very weak. What happened was painful to me. of course i setup anew clean OS .
I recommend you to move from Windows to Linux and buy a Hardware Wallet (preferably Trezor/Ledger as they've been tested and used for a long time already and had their security proven). Windows is less safe and has crappy privacy. If you want to feel safer, learn to use Linux and move to it.

It's a hard lesson you had to learn but move on. My recoveries always overcame the losses.

i think it arobot make this process , the process take less 1.5 minutes and i really amazed by what happened .
Go to ipleak.net and see what your IP is.

In the authorization e-mail from Blockchain (by the way, I'd personally advise you to remove that image from the OP or to at least censor the IP shown in it), can you confirm that the IP you have just verified with ipleak.net is the same as the one in your e-mail?

If not, you might have authorized someone else's login instead of yours.

EDIT: I just saw the other information in the picture (Windows 7 & Chrome v8), it looks like it's your own fingerprint according to the OS and browser seen in the pic so yeah, that should be some malware ..

please please help me , this coins is all i have and i now haven't any coin in the wallet .

I am very sad about what happened
First of all, blockchain can't "be hacked" like RawDog said, nor can you get the funds back through that "keys.lol" website. I'm not sure what's up with the trolling but anyway..

Blockchain Support can't help you, nor can we... if some automated malware got your funds stolen, they're probably gone for good so you can't really do much about it.

As far as I can understand, it wasn't you who initiated the transaction, right? To me it sounds like some automated script that detects Blockchain Wallet login and sweeps the funds out of it. If it was automated, then it means you most likely had a malware on your PC either through browser plugins or infected downloads..

That's the thing with Bitcoin - nobody controls it so we can't do much especially as it wasn't some kind of mistake we can help you with.

It's hard to take the loss but man yourself up and move on - it could happen to the best of us.

EDIT: oh God, the shitposting is moving on to a new level every day..
2437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A perspective of the future of Bitcoin.. on: April 30, 2020, 09:59:36 AM
the biggest problem is people themselves. it was not government who forced them to like KYC and go to centralized places to acquire bitcoin such as Coinbase, Binance, Bitpay,... it was not the government who forced them to forget that bitcoin is a currency not an investment. ... they did that all by themselves.
my perspective about bitcoin has not changed at all but my perspective about "bitcoiners" has changed or maybe my eyes are open now.
You're right, it's us blindly accepting the states stomping our face with their boot and accepting anything they request. I think the old bitcoiners are still on our direction towards decentralization and supporting what Bitcoin was supposed to be, but the newbies are constantly affected by the false ideas propagated among them and they do affect others too. In the end, it's few of them following the original path Bitcoin had and the rest going for the new, shitty direction.

There are many reasons why people participate in the cryptocurrency market, of which profit is one of the most important reasons. When Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market are profitable we can attract investors, thereby developing blockchian technology. If someday investors invest in the cryptocurrency market disappear from the market, I am sure that the cryptocurrency market will collapse.
I agree that profit is an important factor of entering a market, but the idea is not using Bitcoin purely as an investment. On the other hand, as other members above said, they do bring in lots of newbies out of which at least a handful will become true believers. It's a double-edged sword.

Even people who only want to get rich quick still contribute to the network. If they buy Bitcoin, they increase its price, and higher price means more hashpower for mining, and more hashpower means the network is harder to attack. So, without the "get rich quick" people the network won't be as secure as it is now. Also, traders provide liquidity, which makes the market healthier, and everything that is good for the price is good for the network. Also, the more people use Bitcoin and do transaction, the harder it is to spy on everyone.
Well, if these people who only want to get rich quick help increase BTC's price and most likely make new miners pop up too, then don't you think they'll also help decrease it once they find out it's not as easy as they thought it would be to earn a fortune off BTC?

I don't think your last statement is a fact. The more people use Bitcoin, the better it actually is for those creating their own BTC reverse search & analysis tools. Do you think research on BTC's network is all done manually? It's probably going to be all about AI and automated links between addresses (see WalletExplorer). It's going to make their web expand even more. I guess it's like a survey - the more people you survey, the more accurate it gets.

Well said, there are so many people who are in cryptocurrency having a goal of being rich, well even me has that reason and I think all of you guys think the same way because one of the purpose why we are entering something or joining something is because we want to be benefited from it and that's how bitcoin gives to all of us.

We are also here to have more information about cryptocurrency, some only wants to have some transaction with others. We have been so long in bitcoin and we see how good is bitcoin now from it's very first time until now, many things happen and thing are going well.
I'm more willing to benefit from it as in having more freedom than more wealth. It makes no sense to chase only wealth if they are stripping your freedom away.

IMO, these are huge statements. I love it.
Gave me the chill.

Hmm.
Privacy. Maybe we should create a survey on how they define it.
Looking at how many Facebook users, you will see they just don't care about it anymore.
Could have been better to stay with Twitter but they picked Instagram instead posting their photos for everybody to see.

No, they might not have the spare time to care about it anymore.
Popularity and being seen is the culprit.
They want likes, they want to be accepted by the mass or they just want some attention risking their own privacy without even having the thought.
It's scary and it is becoming the norm of society.
If this keeps up, it will become traditional and nobody will pay attention anymore.
I bet most would reply something not much different than "being alone, with nobody around". But they forget that their web cameras can see them at any time and their Echo are listening to them 24/7.

I think it already became traditional. Almost nobody's paying attention.

The ironic part is many people realize data is valuable, but they either don't aware it's implication towards privacy or their data become worthless when compared with convenience.
I had this chat with someone close to me - they ran out of credit on their prepaid card and praised WhatsApp and Facebook for being free so I asked them, "have you ever wondered why they're free?" which put them to silence for a few moments.

Most people don't even realize these things and how they're willingly selling themselves just so they can have things "for free".

Hospitals are empty, our MSM is barely getting some fear-inducing scenes from the hospitals (they are trying so hard it's getting pathetic already), doctors coming out and saying the truth about vaccines & the virus are silenced, arrested or sent to psychiatric centers.

When the pandemic was officially declared, my local shop had approximately half of their workers allegedly infected with the virus and yet they're still working in a healthy state, I haven't heard of anybody I know to be infected/dead from the virus nor did I hear from them that they have relatives/friends who have been infected/dead from it (and by "infection" I mean infection, not "asymptomatic cases"), now it's pretty official that any death is considered a virus death and the latest figures show more than enough evidence that it's a wanted panic & lockdown, but not for the virus itself.

I was among the first ones to get supplies for months and stay under self-isolation before the virus even reached my country and believed everything MSM said.. until they started using the same scenes from Italy in NYC reports, using mannequin resuscitation recordings to create a fake image of "the hospitals being overwhelmed" and my local news started going extremely tryhard. That's when things started getting stinky for me.

When social media starts censoring any theory with substance and silencing everyone who comes out in public to talk about things they have discovered/researched, something doesn't smell right. It's all starting to look pretty CCP-like and I don't like it at all.

Let me give you one example: 5G. I'm not 100% saying it's the 5G causing the virus, but since this theory appeared all I have seen is the theory getting wiped off the Internet and MSM saying "No, 5G isn't causing or influencing the virus!".. so we're going to rely purely on what we're willing to believe and what we aren't? We have a lot of studies that have been done in the past decades proving the effect of EMF on human cells and bodies, yet we rely on MSM's words..

You'd probably be surprised to find out there are even documentaries out there, dated years ago, talking about WHO faking epidemics. "Conspiracy" is nowadays a word used to categorize anything MSM does not say as if MSM isn't legally allowed in some countries to use propaganda.. the sad news is that people are too blind yet to see facts and only consider what they see on TV to be real.

You can't tell me this is a very serious situation when my local hospital is less overwhelmed than it was before the pandemic and I simply haven't heard anyone to talk about an infected/dead relative from the virus. I have formed this new habit of asking the workers of shops I go to whether they have heard of any, and guess what: the answer has not been "yes" even once since February. Yet, if I open the TV it's all panic and hysteria.. should I believe real life or the news anchors?  Roll Eyes

What if we've been looking to stop the virus from spreading and exactly 5G is its cause, and all these people who study it are silenced when they could come out with the perfect solution to the virus? I'm just saying, it's getting a lil' too stinky and their attempt to overreact to this situation is already getting too pathetic..

I have relatives from at least 4 different countries and they haven't heard of anyone either to be infected/dead from it, I actually hear the ambulance nowadays way less often than I used to before the pandemic.. And regarding the Romanians going to Germany for seasonal work, the gov tried hiding it and the situation of them leaving to work in crowded airports was found by mistake..

If you put away what the authorities & news say, start thinking critically and looking for answers, you'll go down a huuuge rabbit hole - I can ensure you, and within a week you'll start questioning everything too instead of throwing any "conspiracy" to the trash without even giving it a try. Maybe, just maybe, these "theories" have more of a substance than what you've heard so far.

But it's real, right.. let's believe what legal propaganda says and not what I witness with my own eyes.. Roll Eyes

Oh man, it's going to take a long time before we ever get to the "life we used to have". These things don't change as easy. Social life's gonna probably be pretty awkward once we even try to go back to the one we used to have. I don't know if people will get back to gambling though unless they've been playing online. As forming a new habit takes less than a month, gamblers who are abandoning gambling during the lockdown may actually stop their addiction without even noticing it.

~
Are you that sure they have money? I don't have a single friend who goes to the casino and is rich. You may be missing the fact that gambling is usually linked to borrowing and burying yourself in large debt.. and a large win of $5k in one bet may seem huge at first but they almost always ignore the fact that they may have lost $10k before that one win, which makes it overall a loss..

I actually know someone who seems rich at a first glance, but behind-the-scenes they have an incredible amount of debt they're trying to fix through gambling. Like borrowing to recover the lost borrowed money - a cycle that never really ends on a positive note.

It is why my above answer is not just snark:  This is how users wind up losing money.  Nowadays with rampant KYC nonsense, it is also how their dox wind up being traded on underground criminal markets.

Somebody posting on an Internet forum to price out this type of project, with no idea of what work is involved, should ipso facto not even be thinking about starting an exchange—not even dreaming about it.

I'd give you a merit but I keep running out of them, I don't know how some members here get to give 3-5 merits per post because I just run out of them all the time, lol.

I've been asked multiple times by some of my friends about collaborating on an exchange project, the main idea was that I'd get to do the design and the other guy would do the programming. Some people think it's all about 10 days of programming and design and you're ready to make millions. The same people then wonder why they always make the crappiest choices when it comes to buying/selling any cryptocurrency.

My biggest scare would be liability in case security isn't a hit but more of a miss. A little flaw or backdoor and you're f*cked. Moreover, if you've got not much of a history behind you, your career and life are gonna be f*cked too.

I'd rather create a very basic exchange and put 10% of my resources in design and 90% in security. Design & UI is something that can be upgradeable in time but you can't waste time when it comes to security as hackers and exploiters are not going to wait for your updates before they start their job.

Anyways, this is just a very general and simplistic overlook as planning such a project requires much more branches to think about besides security and design/UI.

I don't really have what "insights" to share besides my attempt to work with some companies. It really depends on what features you like and the way each company prices features as they most likely do it differently.

The best thing you can do is really contacting different companies on this matter. They can give you the best ideas of what a project like you need might cost. It's like planning a house: each company will give you a different price tag and quality although you're giving them all the exact same project idea.
