2421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do your friends and family react when you tell them about altcoins? on: April 07, 2014, 01:03:59 AM
How do your friends and family react when you tell them about altcoins? Do they think you are nuts? Have they excommunicated you already? Do they genuinely want to hear more?

When my son earns money at home he asks to be paid in Goldcoin.

My mom is an altcoin investor. And the rest of my family is pretty much oblivious in general. Cheesy

I want to use your site but can't find Goldcoin (GLD)?  Huh
2424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Would you support a Litecoin [LTC] to X11 algorithm hardfork? on: April 01, 2014, 12:42:50 PM
We feel the 65% in the poll is a pretty convincing number for us to continue on our project.

You do understand how polls work on this forum, correct?

There are users here with literally hundreds of accounts. That's about as unscientific as it gets in regards to polling.
2425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question about alt's price relative to Bitcoin on: April 01, 2014, 02:39:48 AM
I don't understand the logic behind alt's price movement. When Bitcoin falls, they fall with it.

As has been explained, the price of altcoins is directly tied to BTC.

If you look at coinmarketcap.com, the USD prices shown are being calculated from the last ALT/BTC paring along with BTC/USD. Even if there was no trading volume on the alt, its USD price would move along with the BTC price. It takes time for investor capital to flow into the various coins after a large BTC price movement (lag).

The long-term trend seems to be that some of the capital originally earmarked for bitcoin is now making its way into the altcoins. This can be measured by subtracting the bitcoin market cap from the total market cap shown for all coins.

That number is growing and currently approaching two billion USD. At some point, the altcoin marketcap will exceed the bitcoin marketcap.

I just saw where the USD markets are listed on Cryptsy. That should help some more cash flow into the alts!  Smiley

GLD is maybe the best instamine in the crypto history.

anyway it's 5am here i'm tired. U can find more info i'm sure.

there's a lot more miners all around the world now than there were at the gld time so if gld was launching tomorrow i may have another opinion, but i'll say until i die that it's a scam as well as nxt is a scam (i was initial stakeholder and throw those away if you want to know.)

cheers guys.

The first blocks were superblocks used to incentivize early mining.

The launch was advertised and open to the public. All BCT members had access to those blocks. There was no instamining/premining.

gld is not a scam, it's a joke  Roll Eyes

I can't understand why you would say that. I have read your whitepaper and thought this was all about working together.

You mean the poll results could be fake and contain multiple votes by the same person?  Angry

then you haven't bought much  Roll Eyes and if you have then what u r really saying (as dev) is it should be worth even less  Shocked

No. I continue to buy Goldcoin because I believe it will become a highly successful cryptocurrency.

I'm just sticking with my original plan to continue averaging into the currency over time.

2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could WalMart go for a cryptocurrency. on: March 30, 2014, 02:08:28 AM
It's all about demand. Walmart will give customers what they demand.

That's how business works. They have been successful by filling customer demand. It's only a matter of time before walmart accepts bitcoin.

Another shill/scam post. Think it's the duo that keeps shilling for the scamcoin "Goldcoin".

How exactly is Goldcoin a scamcoin?

2435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Moore's Law and Cryptocurrencies on: March 30, 2014, 12:33:17 AM
I've seen some coins here talk about using Moore's Law in difficulty calculation. The thing is, Moore's Law will no longer be applicable in a decade or two. The phenomenon of quantum tunneling prevents transistors from getting small enough to meet the predictions made using Moore's Law.

Are coins developed with this in mind? If not, their difficulties might rise beyond intended levels. Perhaps the magnitude of the rise would be negligible?

I think as computers evolve, cryptocurrencies will evolve. Difficulty algos can always be tweaked.
2436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just so you guys know, altcoins isn't the reason for bitcoins price dropping on: March 30, 2014, 12:23:17 AM
Been hearing this a lot, its called the news and all the negative reportings surrounding btc thats dropping this

Stop putting the blame/excuses on altcoins or shitcoins (not defending shitcoins but it will sort itself out)

I think there are several factors in play. Altcoins are not responsible alone for BTC price drop, but they are taking market share.

Ultimately the price of BTC will rise along with overall altcoin market capitalization.
2437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alts are so cheap, are you buying or selling? on: March 30, 2014, 12:19:13 AM
Many older "respected" alts are extremely low now.
Are you following the crowd and selling/waiting or are you buying while prices are low?

I spent more money buying Goldcoin (GLD) during the past 3 months than at any other time.
2438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GoldCoin (GLD) Revive??? on: March 29, 2014, 03:01:14 PM
What community? The community where MicroGuy censors & deletes your posts if you disagree with him even slightly? The main GoldCoin thread would probably be over 100 pages now if he didn't delete every other post.

I very rarely delete posts and thought I had already apologized for deleting your post.

There was a time when the network was having issues and the trolls had come out in mass. During that period I got a little heavy handed in the moderation department. You were one of the babies that got thrown out with the bathwater. I was wrong, and apologize.

What is the current difficulty of the Goldcoin?

The current difficulty is 3.495.

I'm new here.  Been reading the forum for some time, but just joined today.  I've been trying for an hour now to log in to CR and cannot. The email and pw work, but they seem to have turned off two-factor auth.  I've synced and resynced by 2F and cannot get any authentication from their website. No answer on support tickets and twitter. Didn't even get the auto-response on the ticket I opened this morn.

Here's some more information. Just read these pages: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=431099.msg5908873#msg5908873
