2441  Other / Meta / Re: Why don't you moderators let me be? Why keep deleting my posts? on: March 05, 2016, 10:24:17 AM
I just want to relay a business idea to interested individuals, but you can't let me be. Please stop deleting my posts!

You get one thread, same as everyone else. Stop spamming the board.

"SPV-Client".

The Question was...

Please educate me more...
Isnt taking a fee from scammer to use TOR/VPN to do their deeds here a direct cooperation to the said scam...

Your answer were...
-snip-
Now please can you educate me...

Evil points are not given to scammers[1], as scams are not against the forum rules. Evil points are given to spammers. Your assumption is false.

[1] obviously the points are not give to accounts or persons, but the IP addresses they used at the time as well as their network range.

Please educate me...

Lets say i want to open a thread, lets say a HYIP/Ponzi,then i bought an account here and also created some new accounts...
As i use TOR/VPN(as the IP addresses i used is flagged) so i payed for it to do my deeds here and my intention is to scam people here, now i spam my thread to gain money from unexpected victim...
Can my assumption be false?..

What? Speak clearly, it sounds like you assume the only route to scam people is to spam.

Please educate me...
I didnt say that it was the only route...
I just set an example on how they do it and thats a fact...

An example is not a fact.

Am i wrong about this?..

I dont know, I dont understand what you are trying to say. I told you what I understood and you said "I didnt say that". So please, rephrase your "fact" clearly.
2444  Economy / Reputation / Re: The BCT PGP/GPG Public Key Database: Stake Your PGP Key Here on: March 05, 2016, 09:37:03 AM
Four more submissions:

1) Bitcoindream(provides escrow)
2) Blazr(also an escrow)
3) bitpop
4) devthedev

Thanks again man. Updated the list once again.

If you find time, please add a second link for me. Thanks to Lutpin Im now on keybase as well -> https://keybase.io/shorena/key.asc
You should be able to upload the public key to keybase so that keybase never has access to your private key but your key can still be associated with your keybase account (also as an FYI I have been able to outright reset my password on keybase [but never have had any private key uploaded to keybase] so in theory they have access to any private key uploaded to them)

Kind Regards
Panthers52

Yes, its the same key, they just wanted to verify it (the public key) via curl.
2445  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Btc wallet showed a higher total than it should, then they were lost when moved on: March 05, 2016, 09:35:39 AM
Unfortunately it looks like im using v0.8.2-beta when i look under the drop down menu under about bitcoin. Also, under the drop down menu for about qt it looks like im using qt 4.8.3.

QT is just the part that creates the graphical user interface, its not as important as the version of core/qt you are using.

I would hope that I could still apply the same instructions you suggested for alternate versions, but i'm sure it won't be that easy.

If know a way to do what you what you explained with the version I have, I would love to know and finally solve this problem. I thank you again for taking the time to explain things in a way that I can follow. I appreciate the fact that there are good people out there that are still willing to help, that's one of the reasons I enjoy the time I spend online.

The command did not exist when 0.8.2 was the current version. It was added because of things like these. The only solution back than was to use 3rd party software (like pywallet) to remove TX from the wallet.

Any reason why you dont want to update? There have been a few security patches since 0.8.2 as well.
2446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stupidly slow bitcoin core syncing on: March 05, 2016, 09:26:06 AM
Are you using windows? If so, while you're syncing, can you open resource monitor and post a screenshot of the overview tab?

I just remembered that it might also be interesting to see whether you are still downloading (can be seen via Help -> Debug Window -> Network Traffic).
2447  Other / MultiBit / Re: MULTIBIT HD--How to restore wallet with following information? on: March 05, 2016, 09:18:12 AM
I am a noob to this whole BTC thing, so please bear with me.

I reformatted my computer and lost everything on it. I decided I want to restore my multibit wallet but I only have the following info:

Secret words
Old password
I do not have a backup of the wallet file or whatever it is called.

My question is, how do I reopen this wallet with that information? It has a lot of BTCs it in and I really want to salvage it.

Thanks for reading!

Yes, as long as you have the secret words you can restore your wallet from it.

2449  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Dain 0.0.1: version 70002 on: March 05, 2016, 08:44:04 AM
Haven't checked my node to see if this version appeared there too. That being said there are many, many weird peers on the network... Also curious about those "Snoopy" versions that were out there, "0.9.99", "Marilyn" and many other curious ones I've seen throughout the years Cheesy

I had a few snoopy's as well, but Dain is consistently connected (>24 hours now).

2451  Other / Meta / Re: Why are some of my posts deleted? on: March 05, 2016, 08:08:19 AM
In the last 2 days I have had 2 of my posts deleted by the moderators.  I looked at the posts and they weren't off topic and seemed to make sense to me.  They were maybe 2 sentences long but I see many others that are shorter.  Does anyone else get deleted posts?  What reason could they have to delete them?

How do you expect an answer to your question if you dont show the posts?
2452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool is now up to 25.5 MB with 22,200 transactions waiting. on: March 04, 2016, 10:37:50 PM
That is part of the wallet...

... as long as "wallet" means bitcoin core (classic et al. might have not removed this as well).
OK. Let,s say I am stupid. I allways just click NEXT. But if there were "7 DAYS" instead "normal" and "10 MIN" instead "fast" - you believe me - I would move slider even if I were in a hurry
Couldn't agree more; in fact, I'd go further; the default should start way to the right and both ends should indicate both expected duration worst case and total fee amount in both BTC and fiat (at current exchange rate).  It is always better to set expectations brutally realistically and then outperform rather than the other way around.

I dont really see how a predicted number of blocks waiting time is a problem and how implementing FIAT(Huh) display in core is going to change this. The majority of people that had problems (or at least that I encountered) did not use core, but a wallet that either does no suggestion to the fee at all or uses a fixed 10000 satoshi per started kbyte (which is no good suggestion either).

Old node with outdated sigop counting code (consensus code change).

Longer explanation: they updated sigop counting in segwit v3 that was incompatible with segwit v2. some people didn't update their v2 nodes and forked.

2454  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Block-Size Proposal: "Pruning Blocks" on: March 04, 2016, 10:29:55 PM
So what if the miner produces a pruning block for me nodes that has a higher block height than the actual? Then the miner expands on that block? Currently the best blockchain is chosen by having the greatest sum of difficulty, but this breaks that because it cannot be calculated with a partial blockchain. How would the node be able to know that the blockcthat it knows of is incorrect? If it receives the actual blockchain how will it know that is the correct one versus the incorrect one given by a malicious node/miner?

Very good points.  As a core assumption of Bitcoin, a single miner can not replicate the difficulty of the entire network.  Using that knowledge, here is a first-take at such a procedure to download and verify a pruned blockchain:

1) A new miner downloads all unique pruned blockchains visible to them.  It is assumed that one of them will be correct because the Bitcoin network is the most powerful network in the world.

A sybil attack is still possible, you cant just assume it away.

This is BitcoinTalk.org user SlidingHorn, and the current date is 04 March, 2016.  This address was chosen as it is the oldest one I've used on the forums.  I will likely be staking another from a more frequently used device, as I rarely use this wallet.

Verified using bitcoin core 0.12. There is no need to stake more than one, you should not need this on a regular basis anyway.

Being patient is almost always the best strategy when you pay a low fee.
You should also know that the network was under a lot of stress the last few days.

It greatly depends on the TX -> https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/tx/9a19915cf0c4f9afb41ec191f71684ca10ea0bbae9a27a80768c8a6ecc578c9a (look at time received)

Well my computer hard disk just burned, gone, when i created the wallet i didnt stay with the words to be able to recover the wallet,my question is there is any other way to recover the wallets besides those words we get when we create the wallet? My balance isnt too much its just 0.03btc i just wanna know if i can recover or if its already losted.

File + password or seed. If you have neither (or cant recover e.g. the file) your coins are lost.
