2441  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 20, 2014, 04:58:30 PM
Good to know I will check that one out too.
Thanks.

I've been quite happy with the Lepa G1200 (and, presumably, the G1600) for powering my cubes.  The G1200 runs 3 with no trouble at all, no issues with startup surge, and I'm quite confident it would run another one or two cubes as well.  They're expensive PSUs, but JonnyGuru approved, and quite efficient (peaking over 90% efficiency at about a half load, which is part of why I have such a large one).
2442  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 20, 2014, 04:57:28 PM
I do already have one.  I will keep this in mind when I try it then.
Thanks for the help.

I have this PSU should be able to run one cube right?

My take is that that power supply is right on the bottom edge of acceptable, if over clocked it will be running at 100% capacity on one 12v rail.

If you already have it, I would try it, if not, I would spend the few extra dollars and get a bigger one.

This is an excellent guide thanks.
I am looking at getting one of the cubes in the next couple days.

I'm going to set it up to use BFGminer on my BTCGuild account first I'm hoping that setup will go smooth.

Congratulations!
Enjoy.

My little bitcoin has arrived. Cara Michelle Biomech came into the world at 13:13 today, 7lbs 8 oz. We are still at the hospital, but mama and baby are doing fine.

And here I would be happy with just 5 BTC you are really shooting for the stars.  Tongue

I'm running an experiment where I'm going to need people to send me as many bitcoins as possible.  Results will be published in the American Sociological Review. Could be but I would expect more weird things to get the tension levels up.

Hmm, maybe the experiment was to see how long till donors get pissed off? Tongue
2451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner & MobileMiner: Your Coins. Your Pools. Your way. Win/Mac/Linux/Mobile on: January 20, 2014, 12:16:36 AM
That is good to know I love using MuM and MobileMiner to monitor them.
I know it's older hardware but I have a very tight budget of about $400-$500 total and anything newer is out of my range and then some unfortunately.
I had created a thread here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=420839.msg4587075#msg4587075) asking advice and have been PM'd many great offers from people.  This one is the fastest and best price so far.  30 Gh/s would be a great addition to my small setup especially with the difficulty increase coming soon.
If you have any suggestions in my price range I would appreciate it greatly as well.  I'm having so much fun with this and it keeps me occupied even when I am bed ridden.
Thanks for your help and info as always it is greatly appreciated.  You have made my learning of all this easy and fun.   Smiley

I do have a question.
How does MuM work with these?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392287.0
I have an opportunity to get one very inexpensive but setup for the stratum to BFG seems likes it's not bad but I wonder how it works using MuM.

It works great with Cubes, Blades, MinePeon, etc. I have a Cube pointed at the Proxy in MultiMiner and it works well with minimal setup.

That said, I would seriously consider before purchasing a Cube. The Cube is based on 1st generation ASICMINER chips that are nowhere near as power efficient as newer chips. They basically go:

Avalon -> ASICMINER -> BFL -> Bitfury -> BITMAIN

That is just a rough idea. So what you are talking about doing is essentially purchasing ASIC equipment that is several generations behind.

That said they do work very well, they are very simple to setup (they do require a PSU). But if you are looking for something like that and can spend more I'd recommend an AntMiner S1. They can run at about 210 Gh/s easily, they ship very quickly, and they have a similar setup to the Cube (with a nicer web UI).

Note that right now the S1 does not work with bfgminer or MultiMiner as a proxy as it has an older version of cgminer built in with a known bug that has since been addressed.

2454  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFGminer VS CGminer on: January 19, 2014, 09:45:21 PM
BFG has Ant support now as well.
Multiminer is an excellent GUI for BFG as well.
I have tried both CG and BFG and they both have their positives and negatives.
I like BFG much better but I can't put my finger on it as they both work well.

I'm also seeing posts about running BFGminer for certain miners and CGminer for others. The reason I started with BFGminer was because I read an article on how to start mining with the Red Fury I just received. Now I started looking into picking up an AntMiner U1 and it looks like they're only supported with CGminer at the moment if you compile the latest source with support for the hardware. Without doing my homework first let me ask, would I be able to run one copy of CGminer with support for both the Red Fury and the AntMiner compiled in?

Thanks!
2455  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [IN-STOCK, SHIPPING, OPEN] Professional quality USB hubs for USB bitcoin miners on: January 19, 2014, 08:45:52 PM
Very true.  With shipping it puts it just out of my range.
But it looks like it has great spacing and lots of power for all devices.
As it is now mine are spread on among two Anker 7 port hubs.  They work great but spacing is an issue with the BiFuries and RedFuries.

I'm looking forward to seeing how well this works for you.
I really want to get one as well when I get the money for it.
I do hope the price comes down a bit though.

yeah these would be nice at 150 usd vs 200 usd

I will use 14 ice fury  sticks and see if I can get a high over clock.

Right now I get a 54 setting on my ice fury sticks.

This means about 2.5 a stick.. If I get a 56 or 58 setting to work the sticks may push the 2.8 level.  I will post photos.

Thanks for all the work.
I can't wait to see what your going to do next.  Grin

Version 2.3.6 of MultiMiner is now available. This is a miner update to 2.3.5 and includes a couple of small bug fixes:

  • Fixed additional KeyNotFoundException errors parsing pool information
  • Reset the Auto-Restart Miners timer when the user starts mining

Additionally version 2.4.0 of MultiMiner is also available. This includes the above bug fixes as well as the following new features:

  • Added official support for AntMiner U1 and LittleFury USB ASICs
  • Added a per-pool miner arguments setting (e.g. for providing --pool-proxy)
  • Improved support for detecting and displaying device names
  • Clicking the Utility column will now toggle the app to display Work Utility
  • Both the Current and Effective (based on Work Utility) hash-rate are now shown for each device (in addition to the previous Average hash-rate)
  • Coin configurations are no longer permanently disabled when all pools are down and Auto-Mining is enabled under Strategies
  • Added the option to disable USB probing
  • Hardware is now re-scanned before mining (optionally) automatically starts on startup

Version 2.4 addresses a lot of requests and feedback from users.

From here I will be working on 2.5 which will include the #1 most requested feature. Hold on to your butts!

2459  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bi•Fury | 5+ GH/s USB Miner [IN STOCK!] {CHRISTMAS SALE !} on: January 19, 2014, 07:59:27 PM
Your quite correct.
I had that happen the first time I tried it as well.
Then I flashed it and it was good but a bit buggy so I flashed again and it worked great ever since.
Hopefully that can be added to the direction page for everyone.

I think there's a small but important point missing in the description of the Firmware flash process :

- you need to keep those contacts closed all the way until the System recognizes it as Storage Device, installs/initializes USB Storage driver and opens appropiate Window on the Desktop/Device Icon appears - basically until the found storage device is clearly ready to use. This will take at least several seconds.

Letting go too early or temporarily losing the short circuit (can be a bit tricky to keep it closed all the time) just for an instant won't make the LED light up again (making it look like everything works as planned) but interrupts the whole process and will cause various errors in terms of device handling.
2460  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bi•Fury | 5+ GH/s USB Miner [IN STOCK!] {CHRISTMAS SALE !} on: January 19, 2014, 07:43:18 AM
You may need a powered USB hub like and Anker 7 port.  Also are you cooling them they get quite hot and when cool they work great.

I'm using firmware 1.3 and BFG Miner 3.10.0. Sometimes when I plug in the miner, I only get hw errors (100%). I'll have to unplug it and plug it in a different port to get working. All ports on 3 computers give this problem sometimes. Anybody know why? Thanks!
