2441  Economy / Services / Re: Blackjack.fun review campaign. Member rank+ (30 slots open) on: April 29, 2020, 03:40:42 PM
I'd also like to give this website an honest review if I qualify for it. I just signed up. Smiley

Username: 20kevin20

Edit: I'm getting the review ready, editing the pics to upload. Will have the complete review soon.

Edit 2: Review can be seen below.

The design is fine although pretty simplistic, but the UI has some elements I do not really get and some I do not like. For example, in the picture below, I circled with red some options because I have no idea what they represent.

I also have a feeling there are too many colors on the website. With pink, I have placed two signs to show the fact that the chat should have a background image or color because otherwise, the chat overlays the text behind it and leads to a non-appealing look.

Even after creating an account, I still do not see my username anywhere unless I go to the Settings and scroll down. I think it should be easier to notice which account you are playing on.

I have redeemed a gift of LTC and DASH. It feels easier for me to play with satoshis instead of micro units, so I changed both LTC and DASH to LTC so I could play with satoshis instead. Upon changing the setting, I met this following error (underlined with orange in the middle of the screenshot):

You can also notice in the top-left corner that I have circled with red a bug/glitch that makes "LTC" be repeated twice. Right under the red cicrle, I made a green sign that shows the fact that some elements repeat themselves and make me confused. I first thought that the first 4 choices were rooms (FUN, Bitcoin, Dash and Litecoin) when in fact they're deposit buttons. In my opinion, they should be separated.

In the chat, you can see that words are being cut when the length exceeds a row which I also believe needs to be fixed.

The website's admin has posted a few links to gifts. I wanted to be quick enough to redeem them twice to see what happens and, apparently, the list of coins on the left side of the website is now even more confusing:

As you can see, the options in the top-left corner have now changed as a new room (or whatever that is) appeared. The first one is now "LTC", but I still have no idea what they mean..

If I click the "Hit" button more than once in a row, all the clicks get registered. I think there should be a time limit in case one clicks the Hit button by mistake multiple times.

Now I wanted to try my luck by going all-in with the giveaways and I apparently have to click the "500" chip 100 times to go all-in which creates a pretty funny tower:

My last all-in bet was a win. However, I almost clicked "Re-bet 100000uDASH"! I think both "re-bet" options should be followed by an "Are you sure?" just in case one happens to mistakenly click it.

Overall, it was a fine experience. I almost got addicted to gambling once again! I unfortunately lost my $5 in about a minute by a stupid mistake. Good luck with your website. Cheesy
2442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 350 dollars, Eth or Bitcoin? on: April 29, 2020, 03:36:32 PM
Don't rely necessarily on my suggestion - it's just a personal belief, but I would go for Bitcoin for now. Bitcoin has halving and limited supply. ETH has unlimited supply and no halving, making a positive impact on the price less likely. It's probably an attempt to stabilize its price, while BTC sits on the contrary.

Moreover, BTC still sits as the king even +10 years after its birth. It has a lot of backing, most experience and most development. Any new, revolutionary platform will most likely start with BTC on it.. and out of my years of experience, no investment went better so far than the ones in Bitcoin.
2443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The halving Gusto on: April 29, 2020, 02:56:44 PM
I write in my previous post - the key word is FOMO (fear of missing out), but it's also about getting in at the right time. By this I mean that the majority still calculating it is better to keep fiat then crypto, and it follows that most are investing when a possible bull run is on the horizon. From the perspective of the average poorly-versed investor who wants to make a quick profit, it makes more sense (with less risk) to invest now than to invest a month ago when BTC drop as rock more than 50%.

However, this is the perfect time for bull trap and I would be pretty careful, because there are too many people hinting that another big crash could happen. This of course may not be true, but if it happens, many will remain empty pockets, which today may have even greater implications than in previous years.
Some friends of mine wanted to put all their cash in BTC and I warned them it might be the worst choice in their life. This time of uncertainty comes with impressive risks. We just don't know what's to come anymore..

A few years ago, pre-bull/bear runs, we had a somewhat good situation (at least a better one than today's) overall and even if an investment had gone wrong, we had the freedom to make different moves and recover from losses. But right now, it looks like cash is king and will still be the king for a while - probably until we start running out of it.

So unless one has a large bag of money sitting in the corner & waiting to be placed into a risky investment, I would sincerely advise not to take the risk. Especially if your living lays solely on that remaining amount of money.

2445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think sport betting and gambling casinos are the first business to get up on: April 29, 2020, 02:21:59 PM
You should first wonder whether people will have the money to play at casinos after this pandemic Wink It looks more like we're going to barely have money for our essential needs, casino gambling may temporarily become a luxurious activity..

If our financial situation's going to be okay, sure! The casinos will be the first to recover. Otherwise, they won't earn much from us if we won't even have money to begin with.. Cheesy

Before someone writes "ehhw, you are scamming" or something like that, you can decide if you want to manage my WH or BH ads, but BH are very good hidden and better paid.
~

So you've just admitted that you are looking to promote some black hat stuff? If someone needs "personal gmail account linked with a real bank or cc" like you say, then doesn't that put their gmai account & the bank account or credit card at risk PLUS the possible liability for promoting black-hat services? Huh I'm just saying man, you're not paying someone else to promote your stuff for no reason..

~
The reason I cannot pay for the ads is that I manage many clients and my bank accounts got suspend, so I cannot use them anymore for Google.

I wonder why... Smiley
2447  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Dev Cost on: April 29, 2020, 01:48:55 PM
I'd say it depends on many factors. Development costs may be higher or smaller based on the country you're developing the platform in. For example, I suppose that the development of a Coinbase-like platform in my country (Romania) or India would require much less money than it would in Sweden or the USA.

You could probably work with Romanians or Indians from any country on such a platform too in order to minimize your costs, but I would not trust working over-the-air with some company on a serious business. Face-to-face will always be better when it comes to negotiations and business.

The best thing you can do imo is create a well-made list of features you'd like implemented and start calling or emailing different reputable companies and asking them for an approximate price (I guess it'd be +/-$10-15k) of a platform. They will probably also give you a deadline.

Then we have these super-cheap "exchanges" and platforms you can find on the internet where you'd probably get a copycat of some exchange with lots of flaws and you just won't know where to start from without a good team behind your project. IIRC, I've seen some $50-200 exchanges for sale even here on BTCTalk. If you want something serious, that's a very bad idea. Security is the top priority for any crypto exchange imo.

On the other hand, a few months ago I was willing to create an online shop and upon calling some of my local web developers, I have received a price tag of approximately $2k for the shop. Meanwhile, I could've bought a website from a company outside my country for under $100 with even better functions and would've been much easier to manage.. (or I could've bought a $20 design license from some of the best out there and change the template based on my preferences).

Tl;dr: it depends on too many factors so a precise answer imo cannot be given that easily.

Try me, mofos! Cheesy

I'm going to sit on the opposite side of everyone's opinion and say "let the doors open up".

We're willingly only looking at MSM's words and ignoring the facts - the virus isn't as bad as they make it sound and the truth is slowly revealing.

So you're telling me that social distancing is a must and we can't even walk around anymore (which is bad for our general health) but we can visit the supermarkets on a daily basis, spend hours in them and it's perfectly fine if thousands of Romanians are going for seasonal work in Germany with no social distancing measures, no masks and so on.. and the gov even tried hiding that from us.. yeah, sure.

I can go to Germany with 1000 more people but I can't go for a walk or go to a casino. Amazing, a way of thinking that has so much logic in it.. Roll Eyes

2451  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies/Jr.Members and the Investigation board. on: April 29, 2020, 01:09:09 PM
Well, this is a pretty sensible debate.

I believe that personal information of a supposed scammer should not be posted anywhere on the forum. If I was to ever be falsely accused of scamming someone, I would not be happy at all with someone revealing my personal data on a forum I've been using for years.

On the other hand, it makes me wonder if it'd be helpful considering there may be members out here willing to take legal action against the respective entity.

If someone is interested to do a background search of a company/individual they believe is a scammer, there are probably better ways such as lawsuits where they could show their findings and proofs of being scammed. Not on this forum. I remember theymos has been doxxed by a member on here and that is not okay (not sure if it's even legal to doxx someone).

I personally think that bans, ignore buttons, the Scam Accusations board, our members and moderators are more than enough to stop an entity from scamming on this forum and preventing as much as possible our members and visitors from being scammed even outside the forum.

But doxxing is not okay at all, especially when it's all about a supposed scammer.

~
But why does anyone think someone will just give them merits for sending out a pm to higher ranked members?

Are they trying to play the victim role and want the higher ranking members to feel bad?
~
It's something you probably end up doing when you try too hard and are just desperate to do anything for that sig campaign minimum required rank. I don't know where TMAN has gone, but he/she has given a ton of Merits away to deserving members (I've seen 50 Merits given for a single post more than 5 times). Newbies are drooling for these kind of giveaways but always forget the fact that members receiving such large amounts of Merits per post deserve it.
2453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be anonymous when using Bitcoin – 6 Steps on: April 29, 2020, 12:25:00 PM
~
2. Maintain different wallets, passphrases, and accounts. --> keep multiple, theyre free. Don't let a simple transaction reveal your Identity and link to all other addresses!
Remove the links between your bitcoin addresses.  If you receive bitcoin from many sources, and spend them in the same transaction, your bitcoin addresses will be linked together in that transaction.
Instead, keep a separate accounts for saving and spending.
~
Unless you have a HW, having different wallets is going to be a pain in the ass. Even with a HW, a reset of the Live app for Ledger means a longer initial wallet loading time. Electrum with coin control is a much better choice if someone wants their addresses not to be linked (although I don't use it as I am used to somehow always making stupid mistakes with big consequences such as revealing my identity).

I don't think buying from a stranger is safe! Instead of buying from a stranger or at a P2P trading platform (which is not safe), we can trade at decentralized exchanges that support trading anonymously. You can trade at exchanges that do not require KYC and hold the coins in your wallet, which would be safe.
Peer-to-peer exchanges are decentralized exchanges and you are going to buy from a stranger when using them. So they are the safest imo (there's no 100% safe way, but it is much safer than trading on a centralized exchange), especially if you're willing to preserve your identity through Tor and your trading history.
2454  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The halving Gusto on: April 29, 2020, 12:15:06 PM
People tend to look at ATHs and believe that if they were achieved before, a higher price point is imminent. BTC was ~$20k and it's been years since we had that ATH. Yet, we haven't gotten close to it again since then and not touching it ever again is a possibility many ignore.

All my friends who've borrowed money to get into BTC somehow made their investment go wrong and one of them sits on a +$4k debt as of now. Most of them bought when the wave was going uphill and sold on dumps and finally, when BTC stopped dumping and went straight uphill for days, they bought close to the highest points. Investments with no knowledge (not even basic) about economics and crypto's past is a miss or a hit every time you make a move.
2455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: this is why the world needs bitcoin on: April 29, 2020, 12:02:26 PM
CC payments should be near-immediate, and SEPA transfers take 1-2 business days max most of the time. Maybe the seller wasn't allowed to immediately withdraw the money to his bank account from whatever payment solution to accept CCs he's using, perhaps fearing you may have used a stolen CC, so he only sent the product once he was sure the buyer can't chargeback?
Perhaps. But even with a 1-2 business days timeframe for a wire transfer to complete, if you execute them on Fridays AFAIK they'll only arrive in the destination account the next Monday which is 3 full days (possibly 4). Now even if Bitcoin txs could take just as long depending on the fees, there are solutions to this issue (tx accelerators, rebroadcasting with higher fee and so on).

My usual main problem with wire transfers is that the destination account wouldn't see the initiated tx instantly to make sure that I did indeed send the money, unless it was the same bank as mine. In some situations, it was vital for the money to arrive exactly the next day which creates an unnecessary stress.. like OP says, "Do they still write all transactions for foreign banks on a floppydisk and drive them around by horse and carriage?"

2457  Local / Offtopic / Re: Ce faci cand primesti -rep? on: April 29, 2020, 10:56:52 AM

in vedere ca e ceva util si merge.
2458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A perspective of the future of Bitcoin.. on: April 29, 2020, 10:33:58 AM
Unfortunately far too many people are in Bitcoin for the sole purpose of getting rich.

Only a small fraction of people actually transact daily in cryptocurrency, rather than using it for speculative purposes.

However, it doesn't really matter. Over time, the network will continue to develop and get stronger, and when the time comes when the traditional economy collapses, Bitcoin will be built-up and ready for the task of taking over.

So long as we can build Bitcoin to this point, no matter how, then it should still achieve its purpose when shit really hits the fan in the fiat world.

"The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks" <- this was inscribed by Satoshi in the Coinbase of the Genesis block. Sounds a lot like the world today... So we've got some work to do because I don't believe Bitcoin is ready to handle the load of mass adoption yet.
It does matter imo as most of these people will be the ones to dump BTC and never come back again once they find out it does not get you rich in no time. I do understand, however, the important point you make -  these people, although in BTC/crypto temporarily, may bring in true believers and investors in Satoshi's vision (damn it, I have to remind myself of CSW's coin every time I mention "Satoshi's vision" now Roll Eyes)

This paragraph in particular put a chill down my spine.  I've often had a feeling that the newer generations will wonder what this concept of "privacy" was, and why some people thought it was so important--and by that point, privacy will be simply an abstract idea and not something that exists anymore.

I never thought of bitcoin as being an enemy of the state, any state.  I never figured it would overthrow the banking system or any of that, so I haven't exactly become disillusioned with it as time has passed.

Anyway you laid out your thoughts pretty well, OP.
~
Thanks for the kind words. Smiley I was probably too excited about the idea of Bitcoin giving us financial freedom back when I started and I went for this vision initially that it may turn everything upside down. I did not, however, take into account the fact that centralized cryptocurrencies exist so banks would use this to their own advantage, to create their own digital currency that'd obviously be much faster than Bitcoin - centralization is much more comfortable, but comes with a big cost.

~
Well, my question is the following: will people still use Bitcoin if they never get rich out of it or just dump it and move on? I honestly thought that even banks working on digital currencies might push for a larger Bitcoin adoption, but a national digital currency will be easy to use compared to BTC. Besides this, there is a degree of so-called "safety" these currencies will provide, I mean you'd probably be able to recover it much easier than BTC..

Anyways, maybe I'm missing something out of the frame. I honestly wish BTC will someday become the majority's interest. I guess its mission is now divided in two paths: one going towards anti-crypto regulation and one starting from an increase in people's interest towards privacy.

~
Couldn't agree more, unfortunately. Tor, Monero and other privacy-focused software and new tech will not only become more important as time goes but will also probably become a large target to our surveillance state.

I've only recently started going out of radar, although I am sure I cannot do it completely. I can not remove all the previous fingerprints, accounts I am now locked out of, pictures of me I (or anyone else) have uploaded anywhere on the Internet or on any chat and so on. They exist and they are going to probably be enough for them to recognize my behavior on the Internet - they surely are more advanced than we believe. I consider that even the way we write is a very easy way for them to recognize the link between few accounts.

What's sad is that we're looking at "sci-fi" movies and playing games such as Watch Dogs without even realizing that we're actually already entered that kind of world where some will prefer to continue living a good life under surveillance while others will want to get out of their cage and chase freedom, implicitly becoming a suspicious target.

~
Agreed! On the other hand, the only thing that could probably happen to destroy the core of Bitcoin's purpose is the governments stating "Well, we have done some research and found out that a very large percentage out of crypto's volume is used in illicit activity. Hence, we have decided to officially ban the use of cryptocurrencies starting from <date>". It's probably the only way to really finish off Bitcoin right now that I can think of, besides extreme regulation and the majority of people losing their interest in it.

Oh man, I really hope we do get to the point where enough people abandon fiat and move on from it.

A lot of people underestimate the positive aspects of speculation. It attracts lots and lots of adopters. Some of them will lose their shirt in the market and go on to write Bitcoin off as a scam, but some -- or even most -- will stick around. It's an amazing technology.

I don't make a big distinction between speculators and "people who actually use Bitcoin as a currency." A lot of people take issue with the former group. I don't see them as a problem as long as the network retains a healthy degree of spending and usage -- as opposed to 100% of people hoarding.
This links with my point from a few paragraphs above in this reply. I probably did not express the last two paragraphs in the OP the right way - I meant to say that we're chasing fortune completely ignoring the fact that we are throwing our privacy away, which should've been the no. 1 thing we're looking for.. like people using centralized exchanges and willingly giving out all their personal information and documents chasing wealth - we're willingly giving information away for free to some entities without realizing how much this information actually costs.

The situation where you aren't allowed to withdraw from an exchange without KYC is literally paying an entity to give you back your money after you've earned them fees through your transactions. Sabotage, in other words.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, I really appreciate it and it is a very interesting conversation indeed. Smiley I have merited you guys but I unfortunately ran out of merit for @squatter, if anyone could spare 1 merit and give it to him for me I'd really appreciate it! (later edit: I have now sent him the merit too, thanks to avikz!) Cheesy
2459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A perspective of the future of Bitcoin.. on: April 28, 2020, 06:27:33 PM
This thread was created by me on the Romanian board and translated into English now for the international one.

I've been wondering for a while how the Romanian community of BitcoinTalk could be revived. I'm more than sure that we have a pretty significant number of Romanians on the forum. However, as far as I can see, most of them are silent.

Therefore, I have decided to create a topic about a vision on Bitcoin's future. I only have two simple questions I'd like to be answered: How long have you been in the crypto sphere and how do you envision Bitcoin in the short/long term future?

I am going to begin by expressing my own ideas.

The so-called 'journey' in the middle of which I am right now began in late 2013. I won't get much into detail - long story short, I found out about Bitcoin's existence through news.

My perspective about Bitcoin has changed, unfortunately, negatively among these 7 years of experience. From the idea that Bitcoin could turn the economical and governmental systems of the world upside down, today I see it as nothing else but an obstacle the governments overcame long ago and for which they surely have a plan of attack so that it would never be a threat for them be it in the present or short and long term future.

If until 2016-2017 there were no laws regarding cryptocurrencies and the law could be easily interpreted so that nobody knew for sure what they should or should not do properly about owning, using and transactioning them, today we have laws that appear as if they are opposing more and more the fundamental ideas of cryptocurrencies - almost as if the intention behind these regulations was to destroy them while using this entire time the "cryptocurrencies are used in criminal activities" excuse.

This has changed, in my opinion, Bitcoin's destiny. If in 2015 I could peacefully conduct transactions anywhere with cryptocurrencies and ATMs did not have anonymity limits, today I feel taken over by the world governments' regulations that ruthlessly entered my personal, private life.

The so-called "support" of cryptocurrencies by the states has proven, in my opinion, to be exactly the opposite. To be more precise, "sustaining" them has led to the resistance in front of genius Satoshi Nakamoto's essential ideas he began with. Through some kind of sabotage, the state could argue that being against the regulations means implicitly sustaining illegal activities. A kind of "Let us seize your personal life and control even this attempt of freeing yourself from the chain of wage slavery and criminal banks or we consider you a terrorist".

Today we have all these surveillance measures. Some of them are partial surveillance, others are surveillance from start to end. While we are fighting the pandemic and the incredible influx of uncertain information, surveillance is taking over our privacy "step by step" as our president Klaus Iohannis says, privacy becoming therefore an idea, a definition from the past.

Taking all the above into account, putting all the information in a nucleus, I can only get to one conclusion: Bitcoin's future will either have an abrupt and sad ending or will represent our revolution against the system of modern enslavery and against the flux of authoritarian and imposing laws we are witnessing right now.

The existence of privacy-focused cryptocurrencies like Monero surely did provoke fear inside all the world's governments, but the volume of transactions does not appear to be a threat to them so far.. which calms them down. But if Bitcoin ever fails because of these governments and we'd all move to the privacy-focused Monero immediately, would Satoshi Nakamoto's vision still be achieved? Would we still be able to finish what he started more than a decade ago, trying to turn upside down the attempt of "those above us" to transform our privacy into a definition of the past?

To me, the future is now uncertain. I will never give up, but I am afraid a significant number of apparent supporters of Satoshi's vision would, leaving us with no more soldiers in our war. I am afraid that too many of the ones currently supporting cryptocurrencies are only doing it because they have the hope of getting rich one day and are capable of accepting any sacrifice as long as their hope would become reality.

But nobody realizes that the privacy we knew and our freedom are the wealth we've been taught to ignore for a lifetime.
2460  Local / Română (Romanian) / O perspectiva a viitorului monedei Bitcoin .. on: April 28, 2020, 06:02:08 PM
