For secret chat the other person must be online or else you don't see the chat box and it will say "waiting for other person to get online", then you will see the chatterbox if the other person is online, with invite friends there is no keyboard you just select the names you want to invite. You send messages by just tapping on a username and you can message there. I tried to search for your id but can't find it, is that the username you signed up with? yep, Daniel was able to find me, what's your username? I will try to find you. Search for Cyb3rpunk. |

I can LTC already dead since a big dump long time ago From about $50 become $1.3 only  Even BTC price from $12xx become $210 Bitcoin still used as currency unlike LTC LTC's pump was insane. I wouldn't count out LTC just yet tho... when BTC goes 1k+ again.. do you really think that LTC isn't going to follow with a pump as well? It might never happen again. That's why i agree with coblee, first priority is the success of Bitcoin. Without that no other Crypto will make it, but if Bitcoin goes mainstream than that's good for alts aswell. That's why i like developers of alts that also focus on getting people into Bitcoin, like Litecoin and GetGems devs. This is GetGems dev words, we need more devs like these. Bringing Bitcoin to the masses. This is the most important challenge the crypto-currency community is facing today. We've designed GetGems from the ground up with this goal in mind. |

Hi,
Over the last few days, I've been testing on already hard-core Bitcoin people as well as never-had bitcoin newbies here in Tokyo. I've thought of following:- (iOS market share is the highest in the world here in Japan at around 60% of smart phone.)
1. I realized it is incredibly hard to get hard-core Bitcoin people to install this app.
--Reaction:- oh I have no more memory, I have enough IM apps, etc. I think GetGems is not techie enough and too pinkish for geeks?
2. I realized if I want to sprinkle some first bitcoins on a cute newbie girl, I will get her message ID automatically. And she can ask me questions via GetGems Message.
3. Can GEMS project team reward the users if they report bugs by sending some GEMZ? Eg. Create crash report button? And, if this model works, would GetGems be useful for Bitcoin exchanges to for bug reporting, customer support and perhaps, sending announcements? (even before advertising platform is completed.)
What do you guys think?
Messenger apps take time and also some decent media coverage to build up a support base. Even the big messenger apps seem to of taken a year or so before they blew up in numbers...it takes time. I'm surprised Bitcoin enthusiasts dismiss the app but maybe so. I noticed recently that NXTTY messenger which I honestly don't think is any good and has none of the motivations that Gems has to join has pushed over 5,000 downloads. My point is the first stage might seem like a slog to get to the first stage of having maybe 10,000-50,000 downloads but things can pick up pace after you get to that stage I think. Forget Bitcoiners who tend to be dismissive of 'alt coins' and once the airdrop is operational focus on newbies with the simple idea that this messenger app pays you to use it and you can make quite a bit of money, i.e. a couple of hundred dollars (which isn't an exaggeration at this stage I believe). Tell them like its an insider secret from a buddy that released the app to get coins now while there isn't too many users to share the airdrop.  I don't actually use messenger apps but I wish someone who does would make one of the those top 10 Messenger app videos or top 10 apps period on Youtube. One thing I wonder about is if newbie users have an easy way to check how the price of Gems/Bitcoin is developing chart wise over time. Maybe it would clutter the app but for most of us I'm sure we spend a lot of time looking at alt coin charts, just knowing the price of something isn't enough, we want to see the chart. maybe this could be linked off the app, even in settings maybe. This should definitely be done, or most innovative messenger(s) of 2015, preferably by a popular youtube channel, but first it needs to be be clean from some bugs which will only screw up app ratings and download counts if people install it while the app has bugs upon installing, referrals and making transactions. This app is setting a new benchmark in the whole industry of such apps and the first to do this in such way, so it's normal that bugs will be on the shoulder of who is doing this the first time. When the app is clean from important bugs than downloads can rise faster aswell. |

Hi,
I have recently purchased some GEMZ via BITtrex and would like to send them to my mobile (Android) wallet so that they are secure.
I have downloaded the app and set it up. (along with making multiple copies of my passphrase) However, the only way I can see to receive coins on the wallet is via a QR code. Is there a way to convert that QR code to a standard wallet address that I can C&P to BITtrex so I can sent those coins to my mobile wallet.
I have iOS but i can remember that it does have a standard wallet address aswell, i think you can copy your address by going to wallet, qr code, receive, then tap to copy. It copies the address. |

For each invite 25 Gems which works pretty well, i don't think rewards for sending messages, making transactions, contribution score has been implemented yet, would like to know the status of this. |

how can i use the gifs on ios? i can't see any options?
In chat tap the paperclip on the left side, find images, second tab shows gifs which you can search for. |

Here are a couple of ideas. I have only been testing with the iPhone version.
How does the iPhone wallet recover from failed transactions? Orphans. Most qt wallets have a debug console where a standard set of operations like check wallet or repairwallet exist. These functions are essential if the wallet can have orphaned sends.
Does the iPhone wallet list transactions? It should, but it doesn't appear to. I do not see my deposit transaction. Or spend attempts although the balance reflects the spends.
Like a crazy man I bought a couple 4000 GEMZ and sent to iPhone wallet and they arrived with no problem, but I tried to send 69 twice to test and in both cases the recipient wallets never received the GEMZ. Now my total in wallet is not accurate when I look up my addres on explorer. It does not show withdraw(spends). How can I correct wallet without debug functions? How would I export private key so that I can get my 4000 gems off my phone?
Not sure the wallet portion is ready at all for prime time. I would caution anybody from moving any volume of coin onto the iPhone. It would appear my investment is stuck on phone for time being. Anybody else have similar issues?
Also would be great if I could tap through to the block explorer.
Referral process does not work.
True some others experienced the same where withdrawing from the app caused some issues, but i know the team fixed it for them so i would guess your funds are safe, just pm op. I also would suggest to wait with making on-chain transactions until this bug is fixed. Referral has some bugs aswell, although i received my Gems reward but the referral and gems earned count shows 0 on iOS (iphone6), also the referral link which i sent to an android user directed her to the app store instead of google play. |

I got a girlfriend of mine on board, noticed a couple issues: - I have an iPhone and she has an Android, when i sent her my unique url she gets directed to the app store and not google play. - Then i told her to manually type my username and i got immediately rewarded with Gems which is great, but referrals and Gems earned count shows 0 while it should be referrals 1 and Gems earned 25. - Everytime she sent me an emoji underneath i see this message.  - For now she loved the gif feature, but she said that it would be better if the gif option was the same as the iOS version where you have more choice and can search for it. Also when posting a gif on android for example 'hi' it first shows the word 'hi' and then the gif, would be better if it removes posting the word part and just shows the gif. |

Females represent approximately 50% of the global population. Sure would increase the chances of mainstream adoption if a good chunk of them were "into it". That pretty much is the reason right there. Remember GEMZ? The mobile messenger that rewards users for using it with "Gemz". http://getgems.org/It was really marketed toward female instant message users on iphones and etc, since they tend to use messaging apps more then men. Currently Gemz going rate is around 6000 sat, which I don't know if is good or bad. (Not following it). It was an interesting idea, to introduce women into the crypto world, but my understanding is it didn't really work. GetGems for iOS just got released today, the feature where the whole app is about (advertisement model) is not implemented yet. I'm waiting for some iOS bug fixes and i will definitly introduce some girls to the app. |

Very cool picture, these attention to details are nice to see. I mean you could just put the link but instead made a custom Gems image for r/bitcoin. On a side note, when trying to invite, the list that shows up with their avatar means that they have or had Telegram. The issue is that those who i want to invite from this list are not active on telegram anymore but on WhatsApp, so i can't invite them. Any way how to invite people through Whatsapp? Also it would be useful to put a users referral link in settings so they can always copy it and share it elsewhere. |

It is true that it is not working properly yet.
- iOS users are redirected to the Google Playstore after clicking the link.
- The download goes troublesome, stating a few times that there is no internet connection while there is
- I did not manage to send Bitcoin to my iOS friends (Gems worked) as it gave them the following message: 'please download getgems to collect the xbtc'. This is weird since getgems was already installed
I am very happy that the iOS release is out, but for the moment I will not invite anyone as well. This gives currently so many problems, that people become demotivated and lose interest. Once it is working like a charm, I will start inviting like if there is no tomorrow.
Agreed, i'm no dev but it shouldn't be that hard to test the features before bringing it out to the public? Some bugs you can't do much about it but some important features like referral links etc should have been tested before putting up for download, now a friend of mine failed to install the app because of that, not sure if people keep trying after they couldn't download it from referral link. |

The app is free, nowhere does it says you have to pay to download it. Ask him how he got to that conclusion, does it say anywhere? Okay.. When inviting friends with an iPhone through WhatsApp at least, the prefab referrer link in the auto message redirected my friend to the Google Play Store instead of the Apple Appstore. Not aware this was a bad redirectshe continued and eventually ended up having to buy something for whatever page she was on to work. Would be nice if people who are invited through the app get a link to a download for their actual OS. Whats the referrer link to the apple version.. https://api.getgems.org/r/?r=daruhshie doesn't work. How do you invite friends with the iPhone through whatsapp? My friend had the same issue, i sent him an invite and the referral link didn't work properly, he uses Telegram. So that must be a bug. |

Great news!
I haven't tried it yet but going on past bugs and early reports of bugs I got to ask the question why do so many bugs turn up between competeing an app and sending it to the store. I don't want to be a dick but why are there so many? Why are they not seen before a version is released. I know bugs are part of any development but many of the bugs are seen after a minute or two, it's not like they are really hard to see. Like I said I'm not trying to be a dick I just want to understand the process where this occurs when you got so many smart programmers I assume staring at this app 24/7.
I haven't really experienced bugs, but some things missing which should be added which i mentioned. Maybe others find the bugs and will mention them. |

The GetGems iOS version is on the App Store!
It's looking really good, although I've noticed a lot of bugs, especially compared with the Android version.
Finally iOS is out fck yea, so thats the good news. Some points. - I can only invite friends from my contact list and not through other social media which Android does offer, i want to invite through whatsapp but can't, although 1 cool thing is when i select users from contact list it shows me how many $ i make after selecting users. - My username doesn't show up on my brothers Android in contacts list, but only shows my phone number, but my username does show in notification window when he receives a message. - "Last seen 6 minutes ago" under the username in chat is too dark, should be lighter. - In wallet i can't see how much each Gems/BTC is worth and it's not clear that there is also a Bitcoin wallet, users don't know they need to tap to change to Bitcoin, in Android it shows Gems and BTC next to each other so users know they should swipe to right to access the Bitcoin wallet. Good thing is there is unlimited amount of choice for gifs and Gems transactions within the app work flawlessly. What should be added is that i want to see my unique referral link in settings, so that i can share it. Also the amount of fees should be made clear for Gems and BTC. Overall the first iOS release is great, well done guys. |

Personally speaking I found the ability to take a photo of the password phrase essential.
Obviously, that's all very well but you have to see it. If all that is presented is a username and pin, then some users will interpret that as I did, to suggest that the wallet is on the phone and accessible with pin. I had in mind to backup the wallet; I did not have in mind that I would not be able to access it again. Is this the best place for posting bugs? Op looks regularly here, but best way is through e-mail or recently added through GetGems app itself, haven't tried the latter. BUG: Passphrase not declared at wallet creation!
Having created a wallet on a tablet; associated a phone number; put a photo to it; etc, I come back and it's asking for a passphrase made during initial signup!
I'm no noob and saw no passphrase and now appear to be locked out!.. All I did see was a choice of username and pin number, which did surprise me but it went into the wallet, so that I could use it in a basic way. So, I've just created another test username and see that the passphrase is hidden in the settings!.. and unusually we cannot logout and secure the wallet, without typing that passphrase in, at which point you discover it behind the pin number.
What happens to a user that does not logout and then know their passphrase and needs to log back in again???
I wonder that new wallets NEED to make the passphrase known to the user.. fiddly as that maybe on a phone. There's something wrong that a user can plough through and not have that passphrase made safe. Fortunately, I didn't put any money to that wallet although some referrals might fall that way.
I'll ask what I expect will become a FAQ: Is there an option still to recover that wallet with my name, given that I only know the pin?.. or is there an option for the server to forget that username (davidpbrown) exists and I recreate it?.. Perhaps not important but I can see this annoying a lot of people who might do the same and also put their bought GEMZ to it. Also, I notice that new usernames I create seem to adopt the phone number and photo, phonenumber I understand, profile photo I wouldn't expect.
I'd suggest, if users have not see their passphrase, that they look for it in settings and make a note of it!!! Sad
The previous version gave you the ability to save the passphrase to your phones gallery during sign up, i think they removed this step to make the sign up with less steps, instead it now warns you to make a note of it before you log out i think, i think they should add the possibility to save the passphrase to gallery when this warning window pops up when you want to log out. I'm wondering aswell if a users logs out without their passphrase noted how he will be able to enter his account. |
