Good idea! I hope this will be a success story Smiley.
2462  Economy / Gambling / Re: Curious about the motivation on: November 19, 2014, 09:45:11 AM
I'm not gambling very often but when I do, I'm doing it only for fun.
2463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can A Coins Name Alone Help It Succeed? on: November 19, 2014, 09:41:46 AM
Absolutely not...it will require unique features and developments plus a strong community behind it.

Not necessary true. Without good branding and proper marketing your coin could be the technologically most advanced or the one with the most benefits for the society, but apart from a few geeks nobody will be interested. PPC, Primecoin, Gridcoin, Curecoin are the best examples for this. Then take a look at DOGE. An average coin without any groundbreaking features but with an excellent branding and very good marketing. The results? Well, everybody knows or heard something about DOGE but outside BTT nobody has a clue what the heck is Primecoin.
2464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin.Center is looking for [C++ | Node.JS | kernel] developers & sysadmins! on: November 19, 2014, 09:31:46 AM
Call me paranoid if you want, but checking the VAT number (if available) and Googling the company are the most basic things what anybody wanna do in any kind of possible business relationship.
2465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does size really matter? on: November 19, 2014, 09:22:25 AM
Coingecko and social media crap means nothing. Are there any real world services for it?
2466  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Is there any such thing as a legitimate HYIP? on: November 19, 2014, 09:14:54 AM
The problem with HYIP is the word "guaranteed". I think making 1% per day on average from cryptos isn't impossible but no one can "guarantee" that. Maybe you can make 200% profit in few hours on something but maybe you have to wait a month for such a good opportunity. So that "guaranteed" instantly makes it fake.
2467  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Legit HYIP \ Ponzi - 120% in 24Hours every 4Hrs > (TESTING) on: November 18, 2014, 04:57:53 PM
The words legit and ponzi should never be in the same sentence.

Why? PonziDOGE for example is a perfectly honest and legit ponzi Smiley.
2468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can A Coins Name Alone Help It Succeed? on: November 18, 2014, 04:52:11 PM
If crypto's really take off I believe there will be more than 1 or 2 that will survive. I believe instead of asking Visa, Master Card, Discover, or American Express, we will have the option to pay in multiply cryptocoins.

So would the name of a coin alone help it succeed? Even though they don't get much attention I think Globalcoin has a good name. Also, Netcoin.

Or does the name not matter and it's all up to the dev and community? I guess I'm trying to compare early websites like business.com that sold for millions based on its name.

Microguy and Vlad2vlad would agree with you. Probably you and them are right, for Average Joe GoldCoin would be more appealing than let's say Quark.
2469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin.Center is looking for Node.JS developers & system administrators! on: November 18, 2014, 04:45:39 PM
Sorry mate, but according to the VIES database http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/ that VAT number (EE-12368076) on your site isn't valid, in addition the Google search for Metacon Consultants turned up with a company in Mumbai as the nearest hit...

You might agree if I think this is a bit confusing and not the most reassuring starting of a business relationship Smiley.

2470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt-coin game plan on: November 18, 2014, 04:02:02 PM
1) buy a domain / name your coin
2) promote
3) find developers and hope you can pay them somehow

As step 0 you might wanna get some funds to pay your developers Smiley. If you don't want an IPO/ICO then I'd say go for 3 after 1. When you have at least a mere or less working beta then you can start promoting.

...plan B

1) buy a domain / name your coin
2) promote
3. Start an IPO (ICO isn't good because of you would need to show something.)
4. promote
5. promote again
6. keep promoting
7. assess the situation to see if it worth to make the coin at all (I mean if you see an opportunity for making more from a pre and instamine.) If the answer is YES then goto 8 else goto 12
8. find developers, promise them a share from the instamine and hope that they can put a working coin together
9. keep promoting
10. When you have a more or less working coin release and instamine it pay your devs and bribe one or more exchanges (from the instamine if possible and keep promoting of course)
11. When the coin hit some bigger exchanges dump your stash.
12 run with the bag
13 register a new account here and goto 1

No one will trust you and you should simply forget about your ponzi project forever.

You guys just do not have enough sense of humor Smiley.
2472  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Is there any such thing as a legitimate HYIP? on: November 18, 2014, 11:32:31 AM
Agreed, but there's still risk.

I dont really get the question, what does 'legitimate' mean? Legal or ethical?
I think if the investors are well informed of the risk beforehand, it is ethical. Legal is of course.. as long as it is legal in law.

The problem with HYIP is usually the owner focus more on the HY rather than the risk.

Of course alts are a highly risky business. Sometimes I think the altcoin boards should be moved here into the Gambling Smiley.

I think legitimate in this case means something like "real" or "proved to be working" Smiley.

2473  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Is there any such thing as a legitimate HYIP? on: November 18, 2014, 11:09:40 AM
rhetorical question?

For rhetorical question it's good enough, and he's right, a successful trader most likely will not start a hyip.
2474  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How can the U.S. fix Detroit? on: November 18, 2014, 09:38:21 AM
Nationalization of all secured & unsecured debt, city infrastructure is only a first step on this way.

Turning it to Detroit Test Site would be more cost effective. Nevada seems to be too remote place Smiley.

(I do apologize for the malicious ideas, but when I was 13 yo back in the happy(?) commie days in the school I've got the task to read the Wheels from Arthur Hailey and write an essay about the exploitation of the working class in the modern capitalist industry, and since then I hate that city and dislike AH as well Smiley. )
2475  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How can the U.S. fix Detroit? on: November 17, 2014, 04:55:34 PM
Hand it over to the Five Families Smiley. They have the reputation of being able to turn rundown shitholes to profitable businesses Smiley.
2476  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Is there any such thing as a legitimate HYIP? on: November 17, 2014, 04:48:14 PM
Nah. The business model to gain profit is unsustainable itself. How come those *experienced* traders ask for others' money to start their own business? I mean, if they're experienced in their craft, how come they don't have the $$ to start the business in the first place?

Seems legit.

Is this a question for me?
2477  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Is there any such thing as a legitimate HYIP? on: November 17, 2014, 01:48:02 PM
Theoretically possible. Some day-traders in the altcoin scene can repeatedly make yields far higher than 50%/annum. However they not used to start HYIPs.

2479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are upset about ripple? on: November 17, 2014, 01:21:24 PM
http://ripplescam.org/

Found this site interesting

Forget about ripplescam.org. As far as I know that's site belongs to a well known scammer here, who seen ripple for some reason as a threat for his business.
2480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XMG pump on bittrex get in quick :) on: November 14, 2014, 09:45:47 PM
looks a bit too artificial...

Well, I guess a pump and dump rarely happening naturally Smiley.
