its a different product category.

I completely agree! Antminer is for people who care about profitability. CT is for people who like wasting money on fancy boxes.

Leawood-based BF Labs Inc., better known as Butterfly Labs, has spent the past year defending itself to angry customers who preordered equipment that took months longer to ship than the company promised.

Couldn't happen to a better company.
2484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra Update: Engineering and Production status on: January 30, 2014, 10:50:22 PM
That's at least 3 months away, difficulty will go up 10x in that time. So 200 GH/s now is equal to 2 TH/s in May. You can get 200 GH/s now for just over $1000. Why would you throw away $5000???

difficulty probably won't go up 10x in 3 months.  thats quite a pessimistic view.

we're at end of jan and the network is 17.5 PH today.  So you think think it could be seriously be 175 PH by end of April ?

Way to miss the point. CT is highly overpriced. CT = $3/GH, Bitmain = $6/GH. The difficulty is going up way more than 2x in 3 months. I guarantee it. Dare to bet on it?
2485  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: January 30, 2014, 05:36:11 PM
Are you sure you didn't receive a KNC order? Cause:

eh, you are no KNC.....
Cool  That's true...

Funny how HashFast_CL is actively reading the forums, but not posting.

So I can pick one up (TerraMiner™ IV – 2TH/s, Networked ASIC Miner) for $6,391.97 U.S. to be delivered in May.

For the price, this seems to be the best bang for your buck that I have come across so far.

The only big variable i see is mining difficulty. Am I missing something?

I notice they only take Bitcoin and bank transfer, that's a big red flag to me, or is this normal with companies like this?

Do any take credit cards?

Absolutely. In a  few months we'll be back up where we were. We WILL be successful in this launch.

Doubtful. In the rare chance BA eventually produces a product, it will be not be competitive with all the other options in the market.  Not to mention all the lies about the schedule. It's game over for BA. There's no point in continuing the project.

What I would like to know is, who is the competition ?

I know there is BFL with their "Monarch", and frankly, that is the least of my concerns...

But what other company has next gen ASIC machines and what are their release dates ?

Delivered in a about a week: https://bitmaintech.com/product.htm

Who cares about "next gen". That's a worthless buzzword. All that matters is profitability.

When does the 25% rental hashrate start?

Do people who ordered from resellers get the same offer?

There's something seriously wrong when blackarrow is online and checking the forums, but hasn't provided any updates in nearly two months.

I'll remind everyone of this post on Feb 25 (or sooner if they announce their delays) when BA is officially late.

Wow, I didn't think I'd be so right, so soon.
2491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: January 30, 2014, 01:26:26 AM
I think the key difference versus your car analogy above is that people bought the product on a price/GH basis... A more accurate analogy would therefore be if someone running a fleet of buses was sold a 80 seater bus with a promised fuel economy but the bus delivered in the end only seats 60 and is a lot less fuel efficient. So the changes in spec are clearly going to affect the bus operator's profitability and it isnt what he paid for.

Good one. Here's another.

CT was hired to build a Formula One race car that is promised to reach over 200 mph. Instead, they deliver a car that can only reach 160 mph. Sure, it's a fast car compared to a Yugo, but the lost profits from not being able to win races is staggering.

Because it was the pressure that Augusto mainly posted, and you (Avenger) followed up via pm... I think you still deserve a scooby snack or three.
I've sent rewards to both Augusto, and our anon friend at NASA/JPL.
Both recipients Augusto and "Nasa man" will be partying tonight for sure. "Small gift" was a pun at best.
No, it's not 80%.

Why not 80%? That was your offer:

I'll up the offer....   80%   of anything recovered    I've got nothing to lose at this point.
2493  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs Nimbus Cloud Mining Service $40 a GH on: January 29, 2014, 06:04:17 PM
Why do you people keep wasting your money with BFL? Are you so rich you have so much money you don't know what to do with it all?

a 15% discount coupon for -20% hashing power and +20 electricity consumption?

With difficulty +100% due to delayed shipment.

here is his donation link ...what the heck suck it up and give a little BTC

(could be me/you/us in same boat someday)

here is the address

Phoenix1969 donate:     bitcoinadress: 1HPgsQTVCHuZSRi2Ed29CZZK7VutgkTPvz

ie he does not know i'm doing this and probably is too proud to ask...so i will suck it up and ask for him

Searing

It sucks to get ripped-off, but what he did was place a great big gamble, and lost. That most assuredly does not deserve donations!

I'm going to go play SatoshiDice. Will you set up some donations for me too? I might lose a ton of bitcoins.
2497  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: January 28, 2014, 09:50:53 PM
30 days late for whom?   all december orders were moved into january (with comps so they are now officially january orders)... and we're still in january, and the first customer has their box.

Difficulty is up 2x since mid-December. Is everyone getting delivered double the hashrate immediately? No. While it's better than nothing, it's not even close to fair compensation for the delays.
2498  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitFury Europe + North America - Pre-Order Lists on: January 28, 2014, 06:32:55 PM
As much I like the bitfury chips, the price is way to high at the moment.

A full kit will cost €4819 including vat and shipping. That is almost 8 BTC. That is pretty high price compared to the antminers.

It's quite a shame. Good chips, in stock. At the right price these would fly off the shelves. I can't imagine sales doing well at these prices.
2499  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 28, 2014, 06:24:01 PM
I hope new 1+ Th/s machines come soon from Bitmain as they continue to school other ASIC vendors with buy-now-ship-now.

Stack 5 ants together you have 1 TH/s. Some fancy form factor is not what makes a profit. A new PCB or chip that reduces power draw or improves price and performance is what is most important.

You're probably right RE: Virginia law. Technically, DBAs and trade names are supposed to be registered (at least in my state). But, people don't register DBAs or trade names, especially small businesses, b/c they don't think about it, know about it, or lack the time and resources to do it. There's no DBA police roaming the streets looking to shut down deficient filers - talk about stifling free enterprise. In many situations, failure to register or file business org documents is harmless and can be remedied by simply filing the proper paperwork.

How much does it cost to file an attested copy of a fictitious name certificate with the Commission?

The fee for filing a copy of the certificate with the Commission is $10.

Wow, how does free enterprise survive under such onerous requirements!

What is the consequence of using a fictitious name without making the required filing(s)?

An individual or business entity that conducts or transacts business under a fictitious name without making the required filing(s) is subject to being convicted of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not exceeding $2,500 or confinement in jail for not more than one year, or both. See § 59.1-75External Link logo of the Code of Virginia.

Jail time doesn't sound harmless to me.
