If you're talking about solo.ckpool.org, that's a solo pool so the entire premise is that each miner mines individually for themselves, the pool just facilitates the logistics.

Run a miner without running a node? I find that odd, but ok I guess.

Playing Black jack sounds much better than the odds being described above - hence likely the reason that hardly anyone mines solo unless they have enough hashpower to hit on a weekly or maybe monthly basis or so.. which probably would cost quite a bit of money.  I suppose if you cannot generate enough hashpower to attempt to hit close to 10--12 times per year, then likely you would have to join a pool.  This post likely demonstrates part of the reason that I am not a miner.

My favorite pool back in the day was p2pool because it was decentralized. Do those sort of pools still exist?

First rule of WO club is not to talk of covid. There is no second rule.

Centralised BS. The complete opposite of Bitcoin!

I see great diversity in bitcoin supporters. And that's a great thing!

Since you didn't bother to mention what country you were referring to I will do the same.
(see how easy it is to manipulate with graphs and numbers).

Changed my mind, my graph is for Sweden, I assume yours is for the UK since that's where LFC lives.

Kudos for keeping the deaths low. Unfortunately, 1500 Americans are dying from it every day.

Congrats for ending 2021 with the highest number of cases of covid-19. Your anti-vax anti-mask is working well!

Listicle? I am *not* gonna Google that.

Not really, of course, right now, but in 1981, the interest rate was 15.8%, imagine that.

Savings accounts died in 1971. Numerous investment opportunities exist for those who do their own research.

They're not touching so that doesn't really count as a gay Christmas card.

Maybe the third is Mrs. Claus. Remember the Golden Rule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi7gwX7rjOw

Basically, in US, if the family has $1mil in ret funds

With that much you can get 10-20% interest and never run out. That's $100-200k/yr.

You honestly install an app for a dildo  Huh
People seem to get more stupid than i thought, but in the end i think Einstein was correct with his assumption that the only thing bigger then the universe is the stupidity of mankind  Grin

Are these actual "hacks"? Or is this just a user clicking "Confirm Transaction" without paying attention to what it's asking?

Sadly, I also feel the same. It would have been so much better for him to be a man about it and admit defeat. But instead of facing the facts, he seems to be moving the goalposts on every failure. OK, he may now be selling fewer PlanB hats, but that's his own problem. Bitcoin is fully alive and kicking last time I checked.

For me, the best "model" is the White Paper itself. Halving = supply reduction by half / 4-year period. That's enough for me to know for a fact that "it's going up forever, Laura!" That's a qualitative assessment that's good enough for me. As for quantitative, short-term, Crystal BallTM predictive models, I'll leave those to the resident magicians, purely for amusement purposes, with the occasional collateral damage (read: mindrust events caused by masterluc).

No plan is flawless. We haven't developed psychohistory yet. When the model breaks, adjust it.

One thing that I've always wondered though: with the 18650 cell being cylindrical, won't there be wasted space between them in the pack? Wouldn't it be better to design rectangular-shaped cells, so that they are stacked more efficiently in the pack?

Packing circles is approximately 91% space-efficient. I figure the weight and cost are far more important than a tiny amount of space.

Wow amazing love you bro…10/10!!!

But I think I need my laptop to wear it because I tried from my phone (iPhone) and it’s coming with white background.

(Btw why iPhone doesn’t support pngs or transparent backgrounds overall?).

GIMP says transparent background.

It seems that at some point there will be an adequate phone wallet with both advanced (to get your private keys) and basic functionality (for noobs).
I looked into wallets and some are gaining more and more functions lately and seem on the way to a more polished product.
Maybe a good phone wallet is going to be a solution.

I like how Muun does it. https://blog.muun.com/why-not-just-a-mnemonic/

Note to not-self. Don't EVER use SMS 2FA. NEVER. It is worthless.

Moreover, considering that in those 11 years that you have been here, you have not deigned to put an avatar, then such a trifle should not worry you much.

As Jefferson said ... “On matters of style, swim with the current, on matters of principle, stand like a rock.”  Wink

I do like the current software, although a dark mode would be nice. It's more of a joke related to this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=50617.0

30,000 pages and still no new forum software.

BTW, is it just me, or is reddit really so messed up and poorly designed for browsing posts? I just hate it every time I visit. I find it hard to navigate...

I don't get reddit. Threaded posts are randomly hidden so you need to click forward/back to read them. Just awful.

Thanks. Do you have any experience with any of them?

I've used all 3 of them for several months. I'd rank them generally Nexo > Celsius > BlockFi. Those rankings could change depending on your situation or use case.
