2481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 06, 2022, 11:12:39 AM
Although I picked Canelo by KO in the survey, my heart is with GGG as always. I just always follow my head rather than my heart when it comes to betting and predicting.
Same here, I pick Canelo because he have beaten GGG for two times and at the same time I think the trilogy wouldn't be biased if GGG won in the first fight as GGG clearly won for almost people view expect the judges and Canelo's family.

Honestly the odds for Canelo 1.28x isn't bad since most of his fight, his odds is really low as below 1.10x, even for small bettors it's still profitable.

I'd say in boxing, upset is high likely wouldn't happen, it's different with the other sports.

What are the probabilities then? Personally, I'm not betting based on probability, though GGG is an underdog, but since I like him to win I would still bet on him to win, I'm not a taker of a an almost sure win based on the odds, I'd like to gamble more on high odds.
2482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 05, 2022, 08:28:00 AM
I understand your point as in the first place, the trilogy will not be initiated and planned for long if there are no doubts and questions about the first result on which Canelo claimed he won already twice that's why before, he's not interested in the trilogy. In fairness though with Canelo, he really shows explosiveness in that fight but it's just that, the entire match is close that any judges will have difficulty scoring.

And since Canelo is the current "cash cow" there are speculations and rumors that judges might be favored him. But that won't be easy as in the event that GGG shows pure dominance in most rounds, I doubt there will be an unfair judgment on the result.

I raised this topic (jury bias) a few weeks back, because I saw the same during the Bivol vs Canelo fight. Bivol completely dominated the fight between these two, but in the end the scorecard(115-113, 115-113, 115-113) was a lot closer than what I thought it should have been. The writing on the wall is clear. Canelo is the cash cow and he needs to be saved at any cost. A second consecutive defeat will not only sink his career, but will also cause huge losses to firms such as Golden Boy and DAZN.

Really something that GGG should be ready of, he cannot just let the judges to dictate the outcome again, he should win via KO so no more biases. Well, I know GGG understands that already, so for sure he will be training hard to ensure that he would get a convincing win.

He is already in a retirement age, no way the judges will favor him, and although his fans think that he won the last two fights, but if his performance is still the same on the last two fights, then we should not be surprise of the outcome of this fight.

Regardless of his performance, if he will not win in this fight then for sure we will not anymore see another fight. Though GGG might retire but since he didn't mentioned that, then we cannot expect that he will not fight after this fight. The best chance for him to still have a fight is if he will win against Canelo, yes, that's 2 consecutive losses of Canelo but he is not unbeatable so he could lose here.
2483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 05, 2022, 03:16:27 AM

They surely have learned from their loss in game 1, they need to work together, they cannot rely on few players only as that's not what Magnolia was made of. I'm thinking maybe betting on them in the first half, they might start strong in game 2, I'm sure they are still listed as underdog.

Yes, still underdog, they really need to work as a team and try to play good defense too. With how dominating William in their last game the need of someone to step forward is really needed, I used to remember the old day when The Big 3 of Purefoods was still playing, King James and Peter Simon for their offensive attacks while Ping will take care of the boards and tough defense to any top scorer of the opposing side, He even take Jason Castro while the Blurr still on his prime.

Though it's already a new system and the players are moving according to how the coach wants them to rotate, let's see if how they will counter TNT's attack and what will be the adjustment to win the game.

Magnolia is still a decent team though, they were on a winning streak going to the quarter finals, so I'm sure they'll figure out something to win in game 2. Still +2.5 for Magnolia, I think the odds is very attractive knowing they needed to win to even the series if they lose, at least that +2.5 still has a chance.
I can't consider Magnolia as a decent team only IMO but with their current roster, they are a championship team. Mental fatigue affected the Hotshots and also the Bolts that's why they lose by double digits against the top teams who has a longer time to rest. They played 3 hard-fought games against NLEX and Ginebra and only have a 1 or 2 day rest before going to Semis.

Now we are in Game 2 and a must win for the Hotshots to make it even or else, it will be hard for them to win the series knowing it's the TNT that they are facing. Aside from that, they must find a way to at least decrease the efficiency of Mikey Williams offensively. I wonder who will Coach Victolero put to defend Williams.

I'm counting on them to be more effective in game 2, yes it's a must-win for them because if they still could not at least limit Williams, then most likely the game will be the same in game 1 which I don't expect will happen. I like to believe that they are a tough team, they won't easily give up without a fight, so I am also expecting a low scoring game in game 2 where Magnolia is dictating the pace of the game.

2485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: August 04, 2022, 08:05:06 PM
I have no problem banning gambling in Islamic countries that don't want to take advantage of it. Nor am I insisting that it should be legalized just because of multiple interests, but it is more likely for me to accept any reason to ban or legalize it.

Indonesia prohibits gambling, but in fact some online casinos get away with it without a clear ban. Some online slots and applications are left without restrictions even though they are in Indonesian jurisdictions. It just depends on the corrupt government, it's really up to them.

There is a reason why the Islamic countries in the Middle East had chosen to ban gambling activities and that is because gambling is considered a sin in their religion and they believe that gambling is an act of evil or something like that. They surely don't want to take advantage of any revenues that come from the gambling industry because they will be criticized by other Islamic countries. Also, they had other things to offer where most of their economy relies and that is the black gold (oil).
2486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 04, 2022, 07:42:35 PM
Anyway, let's go back to the current big three of GSW. Looks like we won't be seeing Draymond Green wearing the same jersey because the team won't give him a max contract even if Curry is vocal that he needed Green as well as Thompson to get the team a new title next season. Rumors have it that the Clippers are looking forward to having Green if the said player won't be given the contract.

He won't be going to Clippers if the warriors don't give him max contract. It is rampant in social media that he wanted to team up with lebron. I do not know if it is legit but Green is rumored to have went in a vacation with lebron in Toronto. He also said if they don't give him the max he will be winning it with lebron. I have not confirmed this though since i just saw this in social media. But, if he really go to Lakers with Lebron, does he fit? Green cannot play without the ball since he is a facilitator but in Lakers, lebron have the ball most of the time. The lakers need a scorer which Green is not. He will just be liability in offense just like westbrook.

Yes, he said that but he said that as a joke because he knows that he won't get any offer from the Lakers because of the same fact that he won't be an asset for the Lakers. Well, that is still a rumor just like what I've said but as of now, the Los Angeles Clippers are the ones who are planning to get Green if he won't get a max contract from the Warriors. We will see soon if Bob Myers will agree with what Green wanted.
2487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 04, 2022, 07:16:15 PM
I'm still hoping that Kambosos will get his revenge over Haney, although this is really a very difficult battle for him. Haney is a boring fighter who doesn't want to engage his opponent head on. But this is of course a great strategy for some. It's just that I admire Kambosos' way more. But he needs a lot of improvement if he's serious in beating Haney. He can't be the same Kambosos when they first met. He badly needs to find a way to penetrate Haney.

He might after all the fight is in his country, he just needs a strategy. He probably will just get a warning if he throws low blows until he gets a warning. But seeing this isn't making it worth it for Haney to go to Australia because this fight is not selling a stadium. Less money compares to what Kam got in the first fight. I think Haney meant there is the need to go to the US for the third fight in his interview. https://youtu.be/8dFaBj4Q9h8?t=73

Haney negated the home court advantage of Kambosos. He didn't allow him to dictate the tempo of the fight. And just like what he said on the first one, on the press conference, he has the tools to offset what George has to offer and that's what he did and he won convincingly.

I think in the rematch clause, still includes as Australia to be the venue. So Haney has no choice and to travel again, but it doesn't matter to him.

Kambosos will be once again humiliated in front of his fans if he will again do it in the same venue as the previous fight. I think the fight should happen in the US, Kambosos will also have to ensure that he is ready so he will not end up as a punching bag by Haney. Kambosos has to be very aggressive to try to win KO so does not have to worry about the outcome.

There is indeed a high chance that we will likely see a replay where Kambosos will be humiliated again in their upcoming rematch, I think it's still too early to have a rematch. IMO, Kambosos should just fight someone in the same division before reaching for a rematch because we can't really expect that there will be some changes right after.

Their fight is set for October 15 in Melbourne, Australia but this time in a different stadium. Haney has the power to have the rematch in the US because it's not written in their rematch clause that the 2nd fight will still be at Kambosos homeland but Haney is not worried because he knows that Kambosos will lose his face in the 2nd time in his own backyard.
2488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: August 04, 2022, 06:33:30 PM
-snip-
Based on this, it seems Lopez work out is better than Campa. All of Campa training is about how to punch just like common boxing exercise, while Lopez train his body, footwork, improving his agility and also improving his reflect. Lopez will have better experience and skills than just punching, it's very needed in modern boxing where you're not only relying about your punch power alone.

As far as we know now, it really seems that Teofimo Lopez won't have a hard time against Pedro Campa soon when the day of their fight arrives. What we are seeing is just mere pieces of training for the public to see but we all know that there's more than that behind the scenes where the real training happens. Either way, I expect more from Lopez this time and that we can see some changes to fit in this division.

Maybe yes if Campa will not comply with the challenge, I mean if he will stick with how he fought and with the same strategy where Lopez camps already reviewing, it might be much easy for Lopez to take him down, but, we know inside boxing there's always a chance of seeing upset with underdog, and also, it's Campa's division and Lopez is the one who's new to this weight so maybe there's still good opportunities for Campa to overcome Lopez.

And that is exactly what I want to see in their upcoming fight, I want to see a blow by blow punches and Campa welcoming and giving a hard time to the newcomer, Teo Lopez, in his own division because that way we can see Lopez's improvement and changes after his first defeat.

Well, we shall see this fight a week from now and I hope that the bookies will list Lopez as an underdog (so that the odds will be at least tasty) because he is a newcomer in the division of Campa and because the latter has more experience than Lopez.
2489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 03, 2022, 06:52:20 PM
~~~
But, this will be still an exciting match to see aside from the fact that this might be Golovkin's last professional fight.
Do you have any proof for this? Even if he loses, I don't think that Golovkin will retire after this match. He looks to be in really good shape and there is no reason for him to retire at this point. Golovkin has taken good care of his fitness levels, when compared to other athletes of this age. I know that he waited for a long time to get this fight scheduled, because according to him the previous two fights were stolen by Canelo. IMO, he can go on for another two years minimum, and can have around 4 high-profile fights.
I don't think you really understood what I said because based on my quote above, I didn't say anything about certain things to believe that this will be Golovkin's last fight. As you can see above that I highlighted, I used the word might so I guess that means that I just said that it is possible that this will be Golovkin's last fight.
2490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Gambling be Banned? on: August 03, 2022, 06:28:21 PM
You have a point but that doesn't mean that we should still gamble because of the fact of we are still losing money even if we don't participate in these activities as there are other factors aside from that.
We must still have the correct mindset to only participate in the said activity when we are searching for entertainment or means to ease blow up some steam in our lives, it is still best to know if we can afford to lose some funds or not.
As for the OP's concern about whether gambling should be banned or not, I stand to allow these activities to continue because the government could highly the revenue that this industry could produce.
the economy of a country that legalizes gambling, is much better than the banned countries because the income from taxes and other costs from gambling is able to move the wheels of the economy of a region even though the sacrifices are not small
don't say that gambling is cruel, gambling is bad because the average people who say that are those who can't control themselves and lose big when gambling
Well, that is true but what you said also falls in a situational manner because there are also some countries where casinos and other types of gambling are prohibited but their economy is blooming like Japan, Dubai, and Korea. Legalizing gambling activities will truly help to boost the economy but when that specific country has other things to offer aside from gambling then their decision to ban these activities is reasonable enough because gambling can really destroy people's lives.
2491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: August 03, 2022, 05:59:43 PM
As far as the sharing of purses is concerned, the best guess is that Crawford understands that he has no power to demand the greater cut because he ain't have the most food on the table. My opinion about this matter is that Spence is really taking his time to drag the fight more, he wanted this to happen but he thinks that it is yet not the right time.
Yes, of course, he has no power to demand a high cut or even an even cut because Spence is still a better PPV attraction than him and has more achievements in terms of the belts they are currently holding. Crawford should accept the terms of Spence as long as it's reasonable to make this fight happen.
That is right! Although we know somehow that Crawford himself knows that he doesn't have any bargaining power at the table unless his cut will be lower than 40% then I think Crawford and his camp start to reconsider that if that is the case. Apart from that, I don't really know why it takes so long in giving some updates about their fight and Spence is really silent these days.
2492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 03, 2022, 04:18:00 PM
Plus their scouts which really can spot a high quality player coming off from unexpected picks. But for talking about being a coach of the year well its no doubt that Kerr totally deserve this since he won multiple championships on this team.
There talent scout is well deserved a good pay check for finding all the pieces that built the current Warriors roster. Steve Kerr is a good coach if the player has a potential to improve but if the scout brings a bunch of players that doesn’t suit for Coach Kerr then I think it’s still useless to have good coach if the player itself is the problem. The current roster is very strong and has good future the big 3 will retired because there’s already young players that has potential to take over for the main guy role.
Speaking of young players who have potential, I'm excited to see James Wiseman playing in the center in maybe the next 2 seasons from now, the kid has a lot of potential waiting to be unlocked by Steve Kerr. Sadly, he didn't get any exposure last season because he suffered a tear in his knee that needed to undergo surgery.
Anyway, let's go back to the current big three of GSW. Looks like we won't be seeing Draymond Green wearing the same jersey because the team won't give him a max contract even if Curry is vocal that he needed Green as well as Thompson to get the team a new title next season. 2493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 03, 2022, 03:47:06 PM
Kambosos has to be very aggressive to try to win KO so does not have to worry about the outcome.
Actually Kambosos already try to be aggressive on the previous fight, but his aggressiveness make him to open his defense and Haney using that moment to jab Kambosos multiple times. Every time Kambosos want to punch Haney, his reach isn't long enough to hit Haney, but Haney can hit Kambosos.
I think it's better if Kambosos learn fake punch like how Canelo did, it may trick Haney since Kambosos never did that in his past fights.
He did actually, but it was sort of late already, as Haney has a good lead in points in the judges scorecard. And it was just about round 7 or 8 that George really try to be that aggressive, but Devin was too intelligent for that and he fend his aggressiveness with a good defense and a jab and then hug in to stop his momentum. But a intelligent boxer, he was able to break down every attempt of Kambosos to win their fight.
I remember that we expected Kambosos to be aggressive in the early rounds because that way he will manage to get nearer to Haney but we saw the opposite as he chooses to feel Haney first before making a move which was his kind of his mistake because Haney has the reach advantage.
But you know, Devin Haney was criticized for his style because it is really boring to see, which was the opposite from what people paid to see and that is to have entertainment but they didn't know that Haney is actually better than that and that he is unique unlike from other boxers that are aggressive.
2495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 01, 2022, 07:54:06 PM
The fight against GGG is in fact an effort to recover some of the reputation he lost against Bivol, if he happened to lose again then not only this will be a short term hit against his reputation but also a long term one, as this would mean an old GGG could beat him when his better days are behind him.
The trilogy has nothing to do with Canelo's recovering his reputation or what because he loses to Bivol.
That trilogy match was already arranged even prior to the fight of GGG vs Murata and Canelo vs Bivol. In other words, it's already set in stone regardless of the result of their respective match on which GGG won against Murata but Canelo loses to Bivol.
Yes, Canelo Alvarez is a bit out of choice for this trilogy because he cannot have a chance to fight Dmitrii Bivol for a title fight in light-heavy if he won't agree to fight Golovkin afterwards. I'd say that this upcoming fight is the perfect gift for Golovkin because he received this news on the month of his birthday and I imagined that he was certainly happy about this as he asked for a trilogy for years already.
Though this fight might be late already because their trilogy was first proposed last 2019 when GGG is much younger but Canelo declined and made a statement that a trilogy won't be needed because it was evident that he won the first and second fight even if the 1st resulted to a draw. But, this will be still an exciting match to see aside from the fact that this might be Golovkin's last professional fight.
From what I've seen of you, as a cryptocurrency gambler you yourself have managed it well and you as a player on any gambling platform even in your gambling past have lost a lot of money as well. and maybe also because of your experience you saw the pros and cons here and that's why that pushed you to share it here in the forum that's why you made this kind of topic, and it's a good decision you made in this matter in honestly. Thanks a lot.
besides that, for me, gambling in other countries may be illegal and for others it is legal and whatever their reason is, they definitely have a good reason for it, and for me the influence of gambling is bad but I hope not led to the banning of this type of industry.
I think sometime we are not even gambling but we lose money and we are in problem and the trouble comes uninvited.
I believe if there is one thing one should keep oneself away from - that is scam and fraud and bad intention.
Yeah, so far it's very hard to really see where this is going. On the other hand, others are very excited, including myself to hear at least a very encouraging news from the head of showtime boxing.
On the other hand, if the fight is at a standstill and no one is willing to give an inch as far as money is concern, then this might never happen. Not sure what will be the best option for Crawford at this point since PBC has the most number of 147 lbs.
In order for this fight to take place, third-party investments (sponsorship) are needed.
Premier Boxing Champions are ready to organize this fight.  At the same time, they guarantee that everything will be organized at the highest level.
However, they do not have a business model that guarantees profit and return on investment.  This is due to massive copyright infringement and the organization of illegal broadcasts of boxing matches.  So sponsorship is needed.  Otherwise, this fight may not take place.
At the same time, we are all looking forward to it and hope that it will still take place!
Every promoter will try their way to win the promotion as it will guarantee them a profit. It's a big fight, it could sell a millions of dollars in gate entrance and PPV, so I don't think a 3rd party would be a problem. Spence and Crawford needs to agree with the sharing and this will be realize easily.
I get what you are saying but I don't think that sponsorship is their main struggle to make the fight happen nor why it takes too long for them to strike a deal because Crawford is working alongside Mayweather who has his own promotions and Spence has PBC too.
As far as the sharing of purses is concerned, the best guess is that Crawford understands that he has no power to demand the greater cut because he ain't have the most food on the table. My opinion about this matter is that Spence is really taking his time to drag the fight more, he wanted this to happen but he thinks that it is yet not the right time.
90's basketball is very physical, now it has evolved because a team who have great 3-point shooters will likely win the championship.
That is because the game is evolving each year and with each decade that has passed the coaches and players are adapting to it. Also, if the players nowadays play like in the 80s or 90s era, I reckon they won't be that effective anymore because the coaches and players these days already knows how to counter the plays in that era.
2499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 01, 2022, 05:30:12 PM
I'm confused about who to vote for, of course I don't want to give wishful thinking and Haney is really the favorite for the upcoming fight, but it's obvious that Kambosos understands this and his team will make really effective changes during the preparation for the fight.
You still have plenty of time to weigh some things if you decide on whom to bet as this fight was proposed to happen on October 15 in Melbourne, Australia. But as per votes, it's been expected that Haney will be the favorite and as you see in the poll in this discussion, it's been voted by the most that Haney is expected to win by a decision again but the odds are not that pretty though.
Kambosos will surely make some changes prior to this fight but it's already understood that Haney's camp will do the same way too, honestly, I can't see that Kambosos will win this time or will make some difference.
2500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa - Aug 13 on: July 31, 2022, 11:32:58 AM
I have added a poll for you guys to vote on this fight.
I'm the first voter and I voted Lopez to win by TKO/KO he needs to be impressive because he is coming from an embarrassing loss and he is in a much higher weight category, this fight although looks like a cherry-picked is still a dangerous fight for Teofimo
Quote
Although this is not as huge as Lopez's other fight, this is going to be an intriguing match because as you guys have said, this is Lopez's first test in this new weight division. And he could give a impressive showing here, then give it as a signal that he is back and then will go to "Takeover" this division.
He is still the takeover that we all know, its just mismanagement and out of focus, and because of his medical condition, now that he is healthier and he got his old trainer back, he will be back in business after this fight, Lopes will take over this match I just hope its as impressive just like all his other wins.
If he wins this fight, then maybe the old takeover is back, and for sure he is going to declare that after the fight. But his lost on Kambosos was not about mismanagement, he said in the interview that he has pressures on the Kambosos fight.
And hopefully though, he is 100% healthy now, no more of that injuries he suffered because of the negative effects of Covid-19 on his body. I agree, he should win this impressively.
We have to expect that because Lopez is a promising boxing star, it's just that sometimes he loses his focus, but he is back, trying to build his name again and in a new division trying to challenge the champion and beat him. No more excuses from him, he cannot use that old excuse, he has to win this fight, or else his popularity will disappear.
