2501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help, Bitcoin Core 0.10.0 crashes on start-up, no error pop-up on: February 27, 2015, 05:49:46 PM
If you have your wallet.dat backed up, I'd completely uninstall Bitcoin Core, delete any associated folders and registry keys, then do a clean install of Bitcoin Core once again and let it index the blocks from block 1 all the way to today.

Do this closer to before you go to bed, so you can let it reindex the blockchain overnight.
2502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ninja launch of Bitcoin on: February 27, 2015, 05:10:09 PM
I gotta say the Ninja launch of Bitcoin was in 2013 with the Mt.Gox run up to $1200.

That year really put Bitcoin on the map, and piqued a ton of curiosity from the sidelines.
2503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you buy Bitcoin within the next three months? on: February 27, 2015, 05:05:51 PM
Finished!  I will most definitely buy Bitcoin in the next three months.

In fact, I already buy every month, at least once a month, to add to my stash.
2504  Economy / Speculation / Re: Damn, just bought 0.25 btc and now it's tanking! on: February 27, 2015, 04:43:46 PM
Well now that buy you thought was low, looks hella good right now!   Cool

Just don't day trade man, leave that to the whales.  HODL steady!
2505  Economy / Speculation / Re: what just happened .. and why now ? on: February 27, 2015, 04:40:50 PM
Mega switches from PayPal to Bitcoin.

I'd like to think that, but looks like his tweet came after the pump:

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/kim-dotcoms-mega-could-use-bitcoin-after-paypal-ceases-processing-payments-1489711

He tweeted after midnight and the price spike was shortly after 10PM EST, so don't there was cause and effect action.

If he was the one actually buying BTC, it would make sense to mention it after buying.

Can't argue with that logic, but that all depends if he has access to his assets, which seems dubious at the moment:

http://torrentfreak.com/destitute-kim-dotcom-begs-high-court-for-millions-150226/

He just split with his wife last year, who I think was in control of Mega's funds.  So don't think it was actually him.

2506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming and bitcoin will bring mass adoption on: February 27, 2015, 02:34:26 PM
Does anyone remember or still go to Newgrounds.com?
It is a flash game/entertainment site where it was free for users to upload their creative flash games/movies for all to enjoy.

Many online free to play flash gaming companies upload their work to Newgrounds everyday.
It is even possible you have played some of their games (to pass the time for some) and not even know it, on other sites.
I think these companies and websites like Newgrounds.com, could be helpful toward bringing Bitcoin/bitcoin mass adoption through Gaming.

We should be using these free sites to upload great bitcoin related content in flash, to reach their user base. (if you are a Flash Artist/Animator)
These proposed Animated movies/games would be valuable advertisement toward Bitcoin/bitcoin and is currently untapped.
Here is an example animation from Newgrounds: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/646835

We should contact and associate with those companies to see if they will put in their games, bitcoin donation and or information buttons.
Free to play online games, usually in browsers, are likely a large user base.

Wow Newgrounds....I haven't been to that site since the 90s!  Reminds me of all those sites I used to go to back in the day like Romp.com and Heavy.com.

When flash was still in it's infancy...brings back memories!

But yes, NG should take Bitcoin!  I'd donate.   Cool

Sorta related to this thread is the following bit of news that "Tails" OS now has a Bitcoin wallet option:

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113562/the-worlds-most-secure-operating-system-adds-a-bitcoin-wallet

Never used Tails, but from what I gather, it's the most secure operating system out there, even over Linux.  Them embracing Bitcoin readily, bodes as a great sign of things.
2508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm fucking out. bitcoin will be over soon..confirmed. on: February 27, 2015, 02:10:22 PM
You will soon change your mind.Bitcoin will last forever... Smiley

Dude, the OP is clearly being satirical, he's not saying Bitcoin is dead.  He's poking fun at all the non stop threads that say Bitcoin is over.   Roll Eyes

Love how the Bitcoin Obituaries link shows a price pattern and we're in the beginning of the trend reversal to the upside in 2015.
2509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone else who care less about bitcoin now than before? on: February 27, 2015, 01:53:36 PM
It's the opposite for me.  I care less about the price and charts, and more about the onslaught of positive news that's hit in just the first 2 months of the year!
*random stuff*

If that doesn't give you an e-Boner, then I don't know what to tell you.

Fuck the price.  Let the day traders worry about that.  Buy and HODL is the only strategy you should even think of.

How's that short position looking for you now... Wink

It's much more fun to be at the top of a pyramid scheme rather than the bottom. /thread

Haha so funny because Bitcoin is a Ponzi Pyramid Snake Oil Sales Brooklyn Bridge Nigerian Prince Tulipmania scheme!

You sure got us.

2512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is a solution without a problem? on: February 26, 2015, 10:59:17 PM
Yes, you're starting to see it remittances in places like Africa and Asia, where the cost of services like a Western Union makes sending money expensive and prohibitive.

Things like Igot:

http://insidebitcoins.com/news/bitcoin-exchange-igot-launches-in-kenya-via-m-pesa-integration/30194

BitPesa:

https://www.bitpesa.co/

Rebit:

https://rebit.ph/

All of these provide a way for a person to use and send money to family overseas in these unbanked countries easily, quickly, and with less fees attached.

BitPesa aims to allow the existing infrastructure to use Bitcoin from their standard M-Pesa network.   Exciting times!
2513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why aliexpress don't use bitcoin ? on: February 26, 2015, 10:51:31 PM
they don't work with shits Smiley

they want real cash not "bitcoin". same for others. do you really think that a big company needs BTC? hahah

even they accept bitcoin(because it's trendy) they don't own it. they get cash from an exchange like Bitpay.
They could be their own exchange, it's well known the Chinese love Precious Metals and non inflationary wealth. Once they can set up an exchange 100% and have zero issue they will be exchanging the BTC themselves.

they don't need complications and why would they need BTC? BTC market is TOO small. up to 1.5 mil users and only up 100.000 regular users.

a medium online referral program has more members Smiley

let's not forget that worldpress doesn't accept BTC anymore. they only got up to 1-2 BTC payments per week... YES, 1-2 payments/weekly. Smiley

BTC market is a joke. it's only propaganda and nothing more.

Worldpress, what the fuck is that?

2514  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will BTC again reach 400$+ on: February 26, 2015, 10:49:02 PM
never again, so wake up guys dont hope to much with bitcoin.. so sad every week i see the price drop

Zoom out.
Exactly. My impression for the gazillion of the topics we have now in the speculation section, is that the authors of threads have the perspective of 1-2 days maximum, when propheting the end of Bitcoin or begin of new bull era (choose whichever camp you want). Rome wasn't built in a day guys/gals.

Hi, is this zoomed out enough?  Am I doing it right?

I like this chart better

No, there will be 44k left after this one.

I believe the Australian govt stole some as well, and plan to auction them.  The lower they sell for, the better.

Oh, you mean that MDMA idiot who got popped in Transylvania Tasmania?
Bitcoiners are the most inept criminals.  Not for the lack of tryin' tho Cheesy

Believe these should be trusted and free:

http://www.gpg4win.org/

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ppgp/

http://www.goanywheremft.com/products/openpgp-studio/download

https://www.gnupg.org/download/

Can't go wrong with any of these.
2519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tipping May Be Bitcoin's Next Killer Application on: February 26, 2015, 09:59:14 PM
I like how ChangeTip works, it's ease of use, and the way it pretty much works across all social media platforms.

Great for Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter, and really is a great way to get someone that's new to this to actually to be interested in Bitcoin.
2520  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is OS really important on: February 26, 2015, 08:06:54 PM
Makes lots of sense. What if my offline device gets broken, or burnt, or w/e? Is there a super safe way to store bitcoins? I'm getting to the idea there is no 100% safe way to do it. My online wallet could get hacked and my offline USB/HD could crack...

Believe that's where the beauty of Trezor and Ledger come into play.  If you somehow break or lose these devices or it gets stolen, I think you just need to provide the seed password or pin code to retrieve your full balance onto the replacement device.
