ultimately its about building - compiling - rolling out - streamlining ... all clones of one worker ... all with linux - all with exact same hardware - all with ccminer-spmod
Hey Guys...for some of us...this stuff is all greek. I made no sense of any of it and would really like to keep up with the Jones here. It would be nice to see some Win-install files, just like you had release #s before. So much love would come your way! Thanks A little quotation error corrected. If you mean precompiled Windows binaries, they are still produced and available on the release page as posted by SP. If you want to compile your own Windows binaries it not too difficult but very long and I might be able to help. I've gone through it a couple of times and it can be done with all freeware, except for the OS of course. In short you need Visual Studio Community and Cuda Tools, cminer source and lots of disk space. ccminer.sln is the configuration file and you double click on it to open the "Solution" in VS. You can edit the properties to add compute versions (similar to what Linux folks do with makefiles). Then Build Solution. Eventually if everything works you should find a release directory with a freshly minted ccminer.exe file in it. I can write up a better tutorial if you like but it will take some time. that actually would be good ... and highly beneficial jo ... i for one would like to learn how to build under windows ... hell - ill build a windows machine JUST for it ... tutor me / us please ... #crysx @joblo Yes! How much disk space do I need and will I be able to use the system while it compiles? I only have 1 and it's my mining machine, but I'd really like to learn to Windows compile. ASUS x77pro, Intel i7 3770, 16GB, 256 SSD, 1TB SSHD, 1TB HD, 2 TB NAS, Win8.1 pro, CUDA6.5 (have 7 too but not running). None of the HDs are completely empty tho, but I have combined space of ~.75 TB available on computer and ~1 TB on NAS. Running mine equipment is one S3+, three r-Box110s, two 1.3Mh Fury/Zeus, five RedFury USB sticks, three Gridseed duals, and I vid card mine (naturally) as well. I think that's it. What else do I need to D/L, and install for Windows compiling? Thanks much joblo I can post a very rough draft outline which might get you going if you're resourcefull, but be patient. I don't have specific numbers for disk space but vs_comunity seems to insist on it being on the system partition although it states "accross all drives" in its requirements. It is probably better to put cuda on that drive as well. Probably 10 GB combined but that might not take into account temporary bloat during installation. The ccminer files can be on another drive. How much space you require depends on how many compute versions are coded and how many old compiles you leave lying around. Your PC will be usable while compiling unless you are running other CPU intensive stuff. You can easily be mining while compiling. Disclaimer: Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for any loss or damage to your computer or your sanity. 1. need at least 20 GB disk space 2. download vs_community, cudatools 3. install vs_community 4. install cuda 5. download and unpack ccminer 6. open ccminer.sln 7. verify release, 32 8. change config to customize compute version project->properties->configuration properties->cuda c/c++->device select code generation, edit 9 build solution 10 find ccminer.exe in release dir Yeah...sounds easy, huh? Thanks...I'll give it a go. Should be interesting. Now...let's see...time to D/L a few things. Thank you for the help !!!

Nope...not quite. I mean I don't know how to compile. Period. I've tried to do it in the past...never works. I miss a step or something. What I'm asking is when a Windows install file will be available? Just went to the Synergy site to D/L the new 'fixed' wallet but it's not there yet. Oh..and I went to git also...didn't see one. I'm not dumb...just too old to learn new tricks.
Thanks-
Go here to the first post of this thread and scroll down the heading "Downloads" and pick the one that's right for you. I'd link it, but it's becoming practice to delete posts with links in them because of malware, so you have to hunt it down for yourself. Thanks...all I needed was a point in the right direction.....got it.

Howdy.....ahhh...I have never been able to compile and get it to run. And, I know I'm not the only one, so when will a WindowsQt be available?
Thanks

Just did a ckpool restart - should have been few if any failovers. the bitcoin daemons running on the server have been playing havoc over the last 24 hours so I felt the urge to restart ckpool also.
Yeah....good thinking. A couple of the exchanges were having some trouble today for the same reason. Damn daemons

I have a couple of questions; Are 'scryptN' and 'scryptNf' the same algo just under a different name? The same question for 'blake' and 'blake2b'? Are they mined the same way and /w same settings or completely different animals? Please explain!! Thanks

Will someone tell me if the references 'scryptn' & 'scryptNf' are the same? I'm confused about these 2 algo terms. Thanks

My 'staking' doesn't appear to work. Granted, I only have 25 coins, but...when do they mature and kick in?
The diff is a little high for only 25 coins in a wallet, turbostake or not. It should come down. Right at the beginning of PoS, all the wallets were "in sync" in that they all had coins ready to mint. A lot of blocks got minted right away and drove the diff up. As it falls away and the wallets "de-syncryonize", the diff will drop and your 25 coins may find a block. It's still a very small amount, but it should hit in time. Well....when you get in 2 days late and only have 3.3Mh, you have to use a pool & the only one with any others in it is the 'hard and heavy' hit suprnova, just not much a guy can hope for.

DID HE SAY $100 per MONTH!!! I'm paying flat rate for 2 corners that are shared power on 4 different breakers. Total amount of power, I really don't know. Lucky that there are 2 closets near. Anyway $100 a month. Currently running 7 S3s 1 SP20 @1.5 and 1 S2 that I am looking to get rid of because I can get more out of that area, then again what people are asking for hardware at a 10% increase per diff and 0 power cost it really isn't worth buying anything at the moment. Draw back is it isn't the cleanest environment and I have to clean units regularly.
Wow...you better run right out and buy some equipment. BUILD A POLE BARN. I haven't seen a bill that low in .... can't remember. Been in FL, constant AC weather for so long now...my bill has never been under $170. Lately, over $230, and that's before I started running this little S3. I just know I'm gonna get some serious sticker shock. FPL rates suck...and after you use X amount...well, get out the gun, and shoot yourself. Probably on par /w CA or worse!!!! Good luck and Happy Mining

Block party! Now why couldn't today be Friday? Wow, nice 29% block. My last payment was double what I'd been receiving, so I guess this is a good way to go out for the summer. Mike..gonna miss ya (even if for a bit), I'm waitin' for my latest FPL (electric) bill. Might be'shuttering' the windows myself. Take care, see ya in season!

I don't know this one...what is 'fresh' algo? Is it GPU, CPU....?
Thanks

@Zels; Thank you kindly Sir!! I'll mine some for ya. Question on nVidia example; This statement "sparam2": "stratum+tcp://xxx", "usewindow": "false", the sparam2 doesn't have a command line to match and I'm not familiar with the usewindow either. I'm just starting to learn this stuff. Can you explain what those do? Thank you

Cool the forum's back. Took a while. LOL.
On another note. OMFG, still no block!?!
Would it be to creepy to say i missed it??? You and me both. Also since I'm putting up a lot of my Miners for sale and don't want to deal with Ebay BS. Kano, please!!! restart the darn pool a few times to kick it in the ass.. Thank You. Your frustration is noted. As a quiet participant of this fine pool for the past eleven weeks, one must relay that on my last trip to Vegas I was sure that the number 28 was due because it hadn't hit in the past 480 spins of the roulette wheel. $450 bucks later I received the message from the universe that has been stated here many times which is that luck is luck and talismans are talismans. If it makes one feel better please exit your respective structure, point your right hand NNW, and recite the genesis block (1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa ) 109 times. If it works, then one is completely wrong and we all are grateful for your efforts. For my part, after 180 hours, I rented 50TH for 29 hours. Talisman = yes,; Help with this block = maybe. Kano, you run a good shop and I'm in it for the long haul. Thanks, DYG Well done...well done! I think most of us are still here. Where the heck else have we got this much effort spent? Thanks kano and ck!

Oh...I'm sure glad I didn't just pm you. Thought it meant something else, an acronym for a young person, missing brain parts that you were cussing out. M. Ibad edit; all this time I've been on here and cracking up when that was used...sorry....gotta laugh

Hey Folks....I know this isn't the right place, but quick question......how do I launch ccminer to solo mine a coin. I know it's a .bat but .... what?
Yeah...I know...newbs question, except, I've never actually tried to solo. I know the p2p & rcp ports.
AFAIK, you can't actually solomine with ccminer. The work-around is that you would have to create your own pool, then point your workers at it. It would reside in your local network, or even at the loopback address (127.0.0.1) Not nice man....if 61 is a kid. No need to be rude. I said I've never solo mined. Tough crowd. Just trying to learn.

Sorry...I gotta leave. Wife to be home from work soon and I need a shower. Don't know who started this thread but I, for one, am enjoying/getting a kick out of it. There is actually some intelligence in here.
So...the question remains....How to choose a coin to mine? Interesting viewpoints.
