2501  Economy / Economics / Re: My survival strategies in this harsh economic conditions on: March 02, 2023, 10:50:13 PM
The celebration thing is something that I can attest to. I haven't celebrated any occasions apart from New Year's Eve and Christmas and it has seriously reduced my expenses for last year. Also, staying at home and cooking food for yourself will drastically help you in lowering down your expenses, too. I think most people today have this habit of eating out that 'eats' out most of their finances, leading to a lot of problems financially for them. It all boils down to self-discipline and self-control on your finances. If you don't have either of this, you're really going to get a hard time building bank and keeping your pockets filled. ßÍ

They remained the favorite despite having new players because they were able to surprise us after dominating and nearly having a flawless performance in the Chinese qualifiers. Many thought that the other Chinese teams are the ones to dominate after Ame, Faith_bian, and XinQ aren't playing with PSG.LGD anymore. How I wish the team was complete in this Lima Major. Not saying Old Eleven is that bad, but the roster that was able to have great teamwork during the Chinese qualifiers would've fared better. Hopefully, in the next majors, we cannot see teams that are incomplete, especially visa issues which is too weird knowing these players had been playing in many different places for a long.
LGD will never be the same again. Ame has retired from competitive DOTA and so has Faith_bian. They still put up a fairly good fight and made it to game 3 against Team Spirit but LGD doesnt seem to have the same edge like they used to. Maybe the new kids on the block will mature quickly and get to a similar level that they previous LGD had. One can only hope.

I want LGD to still perform but it really is painful to see them lose some games that could have been theirs. The roster is quite good mechanically but not fully in sync. A lot could still happen since the road to the International is still long. They could still improve and turn the tables around. But yeah, one can only hope by now.l that they improve and Xiao8 help them a lot.
2503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people go into gambling? on: March 02, 2023, 06:56:11 PM
They think that gambling is a gateway towards riches, which is, in part, true, but not really. The chances of you losing your money in gambling is way higher than you winning anything, but people still get this negative perception and end up chasing for their losses when they shouldn't. One bad habit breeds another, until it forms a pretty bad 'addiction' that a lot of gamblers cannot escape and won't admit.
2504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casinos lack slot clubs; comps, is it hard to achieve? on: March 02, 2023, 12:33:23 PM
I don't think you will be needing that much perks in online casinos like you do in land-based casinos anyway, and clubs that you speak of are already translated into site-wide bonuses that online casinos are giving (rakeback, cashback, free spins, etc.). There are also tiered structures for these bonuses, so in a way it acts like a 'club' that only certain people can be a part of when they hit a certain threshold for money wagered on their account. Not really the best there is, but online casinos also reward their loyal patrons with something albeit not as lucrative or crazy as the casinos you mentioned (which, most of the time is only reserved for the high rollers anyway).
2505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 02, 2023, 04:56:43 AM
Gambling takes money from the one who plays yet gives out to those who work under it. Its effects are positive or negative depending on who you ask. It gives livelihood and takes away money from other people. So yeah, there really isn't a good or bad in gambling, at least for me. It only becomes bad because people focus on the few people that gambled so much and lost so much that they turn into addicts. Very rarely have I seen an article or some news praising the industry for its help in the society.
2506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: March 01, 2023, 11:48:15 PM
Next game will be PSG.LGD vs Team Spirit. I was expecting these teams to be the favorite but one of them will have to go home after this series. I think Team Spirit is a better team but we cannot deny how dangerous PSG.LGD can still be. Another exciting game coming up.
I also expected PSG.LGD to be one of the initial favorites if only they had the full squad. Team Spirit on the other hand not so much and tbh this series should be closer than what the odds say.

PSG.LGD's +1.5 map handicap will probably hit but i'll go for the over 2.5 @2.12 as this series is likely going to a game three.

Old eleven is still a seasoned player that knows how to play around Xiao8's directions. I guess what they lack right now is communication and adaption to the current meta, which teams like Liquid is currently utilizing. Between Spirit and PSG.LGD, it's basically a coin toss, but Team Spirit is somewhat showing their form and their plays far better than what PSG.LGD is offering right now. That over 2.5 seems really inviting, but there might be a surprise along the way if Collapse steps up and make insane plays like he just did in the previous days.
2507  Economy / Gambling / Re: shame on the stake on: March 01, 2023, 06:55:13 PM
Isn't this an intentional delay? If a lot of people experienced this but haven't raised this concern, then that means that they understand why that delay is there. Live betting feature has this delay in them to take into account any possible change in scores whatnot, so yeah, you're just unfortunate on redeeming and not really scammed by Stake by any means. Not saying this because I have them on my signature, but because that's what it really is since then.

Still about Dota 2 for this news. I'm sure many of you guys are aware of BTS Pro Series' and how many seasons were there from this tournament. Just to inform you guys that the organizer/production company, BTS(BeyondTheSummit) has ceased its operations. This is actually a bad news, with few production companies like them that have been in esports for 11 years, it's sad to see them go. No longer showcasing talents from small teams and aspiring players through their tournaments like the known BTS PRO Series.
News: Beyond The Summit Shuts Operations After 11 Years of Shaping Esports

Valve decided to let them go IIRC. Their viewership isn't that great compared to the past years of them airing and hosting tournaments. From a business standpoint, I somehow agree with this decision. There's a lot of talents in there during tournament proper, and aside from that they are also responsible for the prize pool. They've gone under, and at this point it's best to leave the scene and move on.

Totally aware of this but Entity always seems to have different playing style compared to the rest of the WEU bunch so yeah Im hoping that they'll pull through this. Anyway GG won the 1st map so good chances that they are going to win and pretty sure that Team Liquid is definitelyn not going to ruin your acca by losing to Talon though
Looks like you're on point with Entity as they controlled the pace on both maps from start to finish and EG can't do anything to turn the lead around.

Miscommunication drove EG away from that possible Game 2 victory. Naga pressing ult when DP has her ulti on is an awful mistake. They don't have any counter on that DP unless they got the initiation first, but most of the time they need Naga to be in the front lines pressing Song before Enigma can jump. Unfortunate that it never happened on crucial fights, but Entity played so well on that game 2 regardless.
2509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake Loses $400K Bitcoin Bet on Jake Paul’s Bout on: March 01, 2023, 04:40:01 AM
Nothing can be gained from here honestly. A bettor loses bets, and so what? Nothing new since most of us here have lost our own bets alomg the way. Also, a lot of people (including myself) believed that Jake Paul can easily win this due to the pattern and nature of his wins before, but I guess we were wrong about that. Both of them are pretty defensive during the bout, and it seems that Jake isn't giving out jabs like his usual self. Might be a preparation for a rematch to keep the viewers invested but IDK.

As for Drake, well he's known to lose huge amounts in betting. His net worth easily eclipses what he lost on this bout and he can bounce back pretty easily after this.
2510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: February 27, 2023, 11:45:49 PM
~snip~
You can't be that naive. Of course, it's possible to place that large bets but depends on sports, league, market, etc.
And most definitely it's possible to know 100% the result of the match, fixed games are played more than you think.

I'm not being naive. Even a fixed game can end up with a surprising result.

Even if you have internal classified information, a deal can go wrong, etc.

There's simply no 100% guaranteed result in life.

True. Even in games where the odds are 1.1 or less for the favorites sometimes the outcome still goes on the other way. There really is no telling on these fixed games or even in games that has very low odds, except for the latter wherein the other team has serious issues like injuries or the likes. But if it's a fixed match between two healthy competitors, I wouldn't risk it even if the source claims to be 'credible'.
2511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you accept ? on: February 27, 2023, 11:33:48 PM
Securities need some form of organization/issuing body in order to be recognized by the SEC. They need to have someone to pin down if what they issue turns out to be a fraud, or if the issuing body decides to scam the hell out of the people whom they released their securities to. I guess that's the main problem concerning bitcoin not being recognized as a security - it has no central figure governing its 'issuance' to the receiving parties.
2512  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have any financial regrets ? on: February 27, 2023, 11:14:48 PM
I do not have many regrets when comes to money, mostly because I am just getting to save a little bit of money.
The only thing I can think of right now is the fact I had the chance to learn about Bitcoin back in 2014 and eventually buy some coins, but I did not. I guess it was because I was too young to worry about learning of mining or cryptography, hopefully I won't accumulate more regrets as years continue to pass.

Most of us probably have the same regrets: not knowing bitcoin that early and taking advantage of the cheap price. Though personally I don't think that that in itself pose so much of a regret. At the time, we didn't know much about bitcoin. We just had the time to learn it but we never really had a concrete idea of what it was. To each his own, I guess. If this puts you in a feeling of regret, it's because you choose to because you thought you could have done it even without knowing about it fully at the time.
2513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still hunt for airdrops? on: February 27, 2023, 09:12:46 PM
I only ever tried hunting for airdrops twice, and have received mediocre returns for my efforts and ever since, I haven't hunted for those. The amount of time you spend on research and actual waiting for the airdrop isn't really worth it, and you're better off exploring other options out there to make some quick buck. Bounties offer lower pay too so I guesd this facet of the cryptomarket is no longer profitable for the most part. But of course, if this is the only option you have in the mean time then there's really nothint much to say about it except that rates could be better.
2514  Economy / Economics / Re: Would You Consider Adding Bitcoin to Your Retirement Savings on: February 27, 2023, 06:56:05 PM
I'd add a part of it to my retirement savings. Probably around 20-30%. Anything more is basically being greedy and an oversight. There are a lot of other investment vehicles out there that can also be great when held long term. While we may be heading towards the digitization of everything in the future, traditional investments like real estate and precious metals won't hurt to hold. I'd very much want my portfolio to contain those if it ever is my retirement savings that I'm speaking of.
2515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 27, 2023, 06:39:18 PM
The Lima Majors seem to be very chaotic. There isn't one clear favorite to either groups, plus those teams that you think will do well doesn't seem to be doing anything relevant either. Everything is chaotic and I love it. Makes betting even more exciting because you don't really anticipate anyone winning by a mile, just that most will usually end up in do or die games. I like what Liquid is doing, but to me they aren't that far ahead against other teams in their brackets but we'll see in the playoffs.
2516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: February 27, 2023, 12:39:12 PM
I'd put in some beer money and just enjoy the show. How would I know that this isn't a setup and going the other way around? I don't have any way of knowing so why would I go crazy and suddenly bet a lot on it? I'd rather go in clueless about the 'outcome' and bet purely based on my instincts and my working knowledge of the sport than to believe someone that can potentially be lying to me. I guess I'm just that not trusting of people to come into this conclusion Cheesy
2517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 27, 2023, 04:42:58 AM
If your grandfather built his wealth from the ground up, I think he knows full well that investing everything in one single asset is a no go. It's good that you try and educate him as much as you can while he's still around, and while bitcoin might be a good investment it still isn't enough to put all of what you have into it just because it's trusted well enough by a lot of people.

Oftentimes, the old generation teaches us things that we did not know. This time it's different, but it's okay.
2518  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash is not trash on: February 26, 2023, 11:56:38 PM
Cash is still king on a lot of places, and will be for a long time. Although the government is actively trying to convert everything digitally to make it easier for transactions to happen in this modern world. While keeping cash in bulk brings something negative because it lessens the 'value' of what you own, it's still better to keep them with you especially in places wherein digital transactions aren't possible.

Cash will remain to be useful for a long time. People aren't ready to go against it immediately.
2519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 26, 2023, 11:48:32 PM
Eternal Fire won the first map, Inferno. Eternal fire was very effective in defense, especially Calyx triggered A side defense very well. EF did good attacking and defense in general, they are starting to play quite compactly on this map now. Xantares did quite well in the Overpass map, and if the match went to overtime, I can say it was thanks to him. At the moment, the match ended in an equal draw 15-15 on the Overpass map. I think EF will win in overtime and close the series here. But I want them to lose and play the decider map, the games of these two teams are very balanced.

Fnatic is really close to putting an end to this series. They are 5 rounds ahead of EF and are definitely putting on a lot of strain to Xantares and the gang. Krimz is doing a lot for Fnatic and it seems that there isn't any answer for his agression here on Nuke. Their CT setup seems impenetrable although we might see a repeat of Game 2 if EF pushed extremely hard and fight for the win.
2520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🐞 Dogecoin Will hit $1? on: February 26, 2023, 11:22:42 PM
If Elon Musk is involved, it will be very difficult to reach, of course, not impossible. A full coin flip has a half chance of this guess. Dogecoin has a standing army, just a spark can move a lot of people. A lot of my friends are dogecoin supporters and I know a few who keep it aside for $1. I'm not one of them, let me say that.

Most of your friends will surely not hold doge if not for Elon Musk. Musk is the only one keeping the community and the price of the coin intact, and once he decided to drop it (which I think he wouldn't for comedic purposes) then see every interest and every holder of the coin wanting to get out.

Most people are sheeps following the shepherd. They would blindly follow someone who 'leads' them even though they don't know what the hell is happening.
