2501  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Should Sub-Threads be created or we should freestyle the whole thing? on: December 25, 2022, 06:24:27 AM
Based on popular demand which I find meaningful, the previous hangout thread has been closed and after we get this board active maybe I go reason open am for other discussion (fit no be this year again maybe 2nd quarter next year) as by then many people go dun sabi say we get Local board and not local thread again or I lock am forever.

We still dey on the celebration and I go like encourage the creating of threads by everyone, the faster we get everything running the sooner we get other wish granted like subboard and merit source for the board etc. Wetin i wan make we discussed for here na only the Sub-Threads mata other mata should lead to their own thread creation.

I no dey discouraged thread creation but we suppose get some sub threads wey go help moderate the spams for the boards. The Sub-Threads supposed be like Introduction threads) to avoid that madness wey dey beginners and help, as new users they introduced themselves with deadliike threads regularly).

I think this Sub-Threads dey important but no be for discussion like politics, Bitcoin or altcoins discussion. Those na popular discussion wey for help the thread creation process on the board dey active, but e get other discussion wey fit dey annoying but if we put them for a Sub-Threads that wey, we go help minimize spam, wetin others think and then u fit give examples of this Sub-Threads wey go make sense. My own na; Introduction & Orientation Camp (here newbies for introduced themselves and ask questions wey others go help them navigate the forum if e dey hard them). Wetin una think

Also, e go sweet if we open a permanent topic make politics discussion de sup there eg (nigeria politics)
abi wetin my ogas reason
I no sure say it go make beta sense to to com d create permanent topic for politics discussion , it for beta say  we hold on and with time push for subboard specifically for tins like d politics nd domestic Mata, economic  Mata, and any other mata's wey supposed dey too. Make we leave politics issues to still dry run inside the main board itself.

As for wetin cryptoprenuerbrainboss talk about sub_thread ,it no bad as long as na to control spamming and monotonous threads Dem especially from dis our prospective newbie dem wey go always like to dey introduce themselves, mk we no cum dey get plenty different threads talking d same tin all in the name of introduction mk outsiders no com d see our board like child's play.
2502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good plan at all? on: December 24, 2022, 06:32:15 PM
Crypto gambling keeps growing faster than Fiat gambling, it's good to see that the masses now favours crypto for gambling than using Fiat but the only issue I have with crypto is the security, data breach and co so I want to know if hiding my IP on a crypto gambling website is secure? I am going with a premium sub of express VPN. If you think otherwise please tell me.
Don't know how you came about with such postulation about masses numbers increasingly favouring crypto against fiat, from a standing point of my part of the world a good number of gamblers are still ignorant about cryptocurrency not to talk of using it for online gambling as almost 95% of the gamblers are fiat users.

More so, certain sites, gambling sites inclusive are against the usage of VPN in their T/C's and that alone can endanger your funds as they could legitimately freeze your account at a glance of discovering you're using VPN , believing that you pose a threat to their own security. So mate think twice about your decision.
2503  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Investing in solar power and miners on: December 24, 2022, 11:06:54 AM
Hi,

I am thinking of investing about value equivalent to 1BTC at today's price 16.K in a dedicated solar power panels at my roof and use the energy produced for mining bitcoins.
If I buy second hand miners with 200TH hash power included in the package, how I would calculate time of investment return?

Your idea is fascinating and recommendable as its cost effective  using solar, but still this plan is going to demand lots of bucks from you ranging from the purchasing of solar panels (depending on how many) to it's installation cost, then it's maintenance as time goes on. Not that I pray for it but do you have a back up plan to this your investment should it not yeild returns much as you expect it to.
Don't fuse  your mind on calculating time of investment returns also calculate the opposite too, in that way you will be sturdy and ready for any outcome as it surface. Good luck with your investment!!
2504  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Notes on: December 24, 2022, 07:30:54 AM

Is it possible to have bitcoin notes in that case, with the denomination (e.g 50 sats), the private and the public key, printed on the note, and each note have it's own wallet ID?

One barrier I can immediately think of, is that there would be nothing to stop 2, or even 100 identical notes with identical private keys floating in circulation, which means we fail the double spend problem. However, is there a way in which we could have bitcoin notes? How could we facilitate the creation of such notes and guard against forgery.

The fewer barriers for users, the better.

Thoughts?

I don't think the idea is close to being a feature that can possibly bridge the gap in the barriers faced by cryptocurrency users it rather adds to more processes in queue already, and this am sure wasn't part of the ideas of the founding father of bitcoin either.
Creation of bitcoin notes would conspicuously defeat the whole idea of bitcoin being a digital currency and the uniqueness of bitcoin would be an obsolete thing as it would reduce it to par with the conventional fiat currency.  And this could give an edge to the government in their futile strive to regulate the currency as it would be in note.
2505  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naija Reps & Cryptocurrency Palava on: December 24, 2022, 06:57:39 AM
As of 20th of December 2022, Naija lawmakers dey expect sae, a bill dat will regulate cryptocurrency in di kwantri go come 2 pass. Dem come diminished CBN influence on cryptocurrency in di kwantri.

It's funny how the CBN, which is supposed to regulate only financial markets according to the constitution and at least what SEC boss Babangida  Ibrahim stated, went ahead and regulated and banned bitcoin/crypto without the consent of the SEC, which is supposed to be in charge of capital markets. NO BE JUJU BE DAT ONE?What really puzzles me is that the SEC has designated crypto assets as securities assets in 2020 but were forced to abandon those regulations they put in place to support and the regulations by the CBN in 2021, so my question is why didn't they try to stop or oppose the CBN when those regulations were placed behind their back in 2021?

this our apex bank ( CBN) just dey trow regulations anyhow, funny enough dem think say they have all the right but the real palava na SEC wey no sabi their right. even the memo they published in 2020 they did not specify if crypto is legally or not, they were just beating around the bush and when CBN placed the ban on banks from dealing with crypto transactions NA SEC even carry the whole tin for head  Grin. confused set of people.
The whole issue of this ban on cryptocurrency was even secretly spare headed by the commercial banks by feeding the CBN and the government lies about cryptocurrency which eroded FUD on the part of the government who quickly raised a ban on it without taking time to do their own investigations to those alleged facades of lies as giving by the commercial banks who were afraid of the daily  influx moves by their customers into their banks to withdraw their cash to invest it into cryptocurrency, and the commercial banks felt they might lose out of money for loans and investments that they usually use customers money to run for their own profit.
But I believe today the government has seen otherwise and have come to an understanding of what naija government is losing from excluding themselve from involving in cryptocurrency as a digital currency with so much opportunities accrued.
I just hope say both the SEC, CBN and other Arms of govt dem go quick joint body togeda see how Dem go allow cryptocurrency start to operate for we country legally as we dey enter the 2023 cos time no dey like dis.
2506  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance lots of FUD on: December 23, 2022, 04:42:07 PM
When a neighbor's house is robbed within the neighborhood there's some possible fear that you might be next in line as a victim. Binance is a centralized exchange just like FTX and as such people using binance have every reasons to build up FUD , it's left to binance executive to clear the air about that through the right channels, cause as a centralized exchange trust is hard to come by from investors as the exchange company is also into business to making profit and losses could be shifted to investors funds.
2507  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: December 23, 2022, 04:16:37 PM
A Bitcointalk forum mobile application should be created, what do you think?
The creation of bitcointalk forum as application may not be a wrong idea but just maybe it's not yet necessary if not the appropriate persons in charge here would have taken that into consideration without much repetition of this same kind of thread about making the forum as a mobile app.
If you ask me, I'll say it's convenient the way it is and I see no glory or advantage an application would bring about.  Mobile applications on app playstores are always requiring for updates of mobile apps even after download and for me it's always boring for me doing that most times.
2508  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn from cryptocurrency as a starter? on: December 23, 2022, 03:42:20 PM
Hello Mates, I wish to venture into trading but I'm just being mindful of the current market situation. Looking at the market, I see instability.

I wish to get the needed guide on how and when to start trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies inorder to make some profits to settle some of my needs. I appreciate you all for your kind response in advance.
If you keep been mindful of the current market price you will wait endlessly. As there's no situation conventionally said to be appropriate for any one to venture into trading in bitcoin , and what you call instability is rather referred to as volatility which is part of the market. If you want to trade or invest it's most advisable to do so when the market price is low just like now and all you need do is to hodl for long as possible when the market price pumps up but don't place your mind totally into bitcoin to be a source of settling all of your needs as the market is not promised to anyone.
Invest wisely!
2509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: December 23, 2022, 06:57:07 AM
Didn't watch the match so can't judge whether Liverpool played badly judging from the score I don't think Liverpool played badly but yes quite disappointed to see the results of this match but hopefully it won't affect their next appearance in the League or in the Champions League because those two tournaments should be Liverpool's focus at this time
The score lines doesn't look disappointing to me for a club that had a come back from 2:0 scoreline to 2:2 within two minutes interval even though it later ended 3:2 in favour of City. Three days from now the EPL will resume and every big side is mostly concerned on moving up the table or holding still their position on the table as a priority. For a team like Liverpool losing a EFL cup match doesn't really count as it would have if it were in the EPL, going by previous game between City and Liverpool in the EPL this season before the world cup break Liverpool has been outstanding against City and I feel lossing out of this game will give Liverpool more time to focus on the EPL and UCL for a better performance.

Do you think countries worldwide will ban Bitcoin mining due to environmental concerns? If not, why? If mining is banned, do you think Bitcoin will switch to PoS? Will it still survive being a PoW cryptocurrency? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
[/quote]
There's nothing or any concept that have attained a worldwide complete acceptance in human history, for instance, despite how much democracy is prescribed as the Best form of governmental system for both the rulers and ruled, yet there are countries that still jettison the concept. So what am I say; bitcoin shouldn't be expected to receive a worldwide acceptance in as much as a few country's accepts it and allows it operations to persist then there's no cause for alarm but to work with the btc pro country's , let's just bear in mind that those countries that are against bitcoin will always look for ways to see to it's end.  For isn't it ironical and laughable that countries that secretly permits certain  biochemical activities that are inimical to the environment are also pushing for a ban on bitcoin mining.
Bitcoin mining switching from POW to PoS cryptocurrency will greatly threaten it's survival which may gradually lead to extinction of the value of the BTC and that's what these government's wants.
2511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 22, 2022, 06:06:38 PM
Hasn't Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Al Nassr, that some media have said that to the Public, I also hope that Ronaldo can find his last club to spend his career at the club, sooner or later there will likely be news about the fate of Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr  ..
Cristiano ronaldo has not arrived at al nassr. What i can see that if ronaldo was ready didn't mean if he will be going to the al nassr instantly. That needs the time for him to prepare everything. As far as i know that if ronaldo ready to sign contract with al nassr but it has not yet scheduled when ronaldo will be going to the al nassr. https://www.marca.com/en/football/transfer-market/2022/12/20/63a1a86cca4741e47a8b45a8.html
If ronaldo will be officially signed by al nassr and the club will be giving an official announcement. What we can do just wait until the official announcement to be published.
As a Ronaldo fan, I think it's a good choice of place for retirement and he should not waste time any further in accepting Al Nasser offer to him. He has given all his best to European football in his peak and the Arab side wouldn't be a bad idea to cement his superb career as a legend. He will be giving much opportunity to play there despite his age as against  any European clubs which the likes of UTD has proven that, and am sure cr7 understands better and wouldn't hesitate come January window.
2512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the perfect time to invest in Bitcoin on: December 22, 2022, 05:53:40 PM
The price of Bitcoin increased drastically in late 2020 and early 2021. The price of Bitcoin touched about 72k dollars. But from there the price has come down to its lowest level.

Bitcoin price is currently 19302 dollars but the possibility of Bitcoin price increase from here is very high. And I think Bitcoin price in 2023 Chances of reaching $100,000 per year are very high so if one wants to invest then now is the best time to invest in Bitcoin.

If you invest at this time then you will definitely be able to reap huge benefits as I believe that Bitcoin price will increase greatly by 2023.
The price right now is at a better advantage of 16,600+ compared to the price as at when OP made the thread. It's very much of a great idea to buy right now at this prices because bitcoin will  definitely increase greatly like you said, but we shouldn't put our mind on a certain duration as to when it will increase, if you're buying for a long term then just hodl for that long till the boom starts, and not to think it's going to hit up from 2023 and it didn't then you now pull out your investment based on your expectations of 2023 that didn't surface only for the increase in bitcoin price to come in 2024 or 2025 as the case may be.
So if you're buying long , then just buy long and keep timeframe aside.

This rules them really makes sense and for every well meaning naija person for inside the forum go understand say keeping to the rules no supposed be big issue but him own best interest it is needful and necessary so that everyone go get space for himself here especially when it comes to spamming.

Another tin I just want suggest, na say, it for good we also add an for the rules say make every new brother or sister wey just join the forum and wan make comment for the naija board for the first time make sure to introduce himself so we go fit know am. How una see am nah?
2514  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: December 22, 2022, 07:33:19 AM
Information' that's one big challenge or obstacle to financial freedom, in this case not just to me but to everyone. Financial information available to you at your finger tip is what makes you privilege to financial freedom when you utilise it to your advantage.
For example, i bet there were many persons like me that never got the information about bitcoin when it first emerged but those that got to know about it earlier, keyed into it and were financially empowered when the bitcoin price skyrocketed in 2017/18. lack of information has really been an obstacle for me even in other areas of life activities.
2515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino bonus is it worth it? on: December 22, 2022, 06:59:16 AM
Lots of casino giving bonus in different form such as free spin, free bet and bonus deposit but some of applies wagering requirements which is very hard to complete without losing money greater than bonus that you acquired. I know that wagering requirements is calculated by the casino so that can't go bankrupt by abusing this bonus.

I follow Duelbits Christmas giveaway since day one and I still can't find the challenge that I know that I can win.

Does completing bonus is still possible and profitable or it's just like chasing the wind?

The bonuses put up are not in your best interest else every participant would have to benefit or profit out of it but if it be so it's just going to plunge the casinos out of business, and what's the essence of going into business when you ain't making profit as a company. Every casino bonus comes with some terms and conditions attached and it's left for you as a gambler to digest and understand their terms before engaging, it's not a compulsory stuff.
Just because it's a bonus doesn't guarantee that all participants must win, if you didn't win or confused about it, doesn't mean others are not utilising the bonuses and making some bucks.
2516  Economy / Economics / Re: Only one way to save people now on: December 21, 2022, 05:17:29 PM
The solution is Simple leave fiat banks and go crypto.
Until there is no Fiat eur or GBP Stable coins we can use as central reserve Stable currency USDT.

Goverment and Banks failed so leave them and let them sink in their own mess what they created.

Crypto is only way not CBDC but btc and USDT nobody actualyy don't want anything from bankers anymore.
People Will use btc and USDT
Am very much not a fan of the ideology behind CBDC, the government hasn't been up and doing as citizens expects but that doesn't necessitate yet that we should leave the government to sink, in otherwords, it's like saying let's abandon the government, should we abandon government then there will be anarchy in the society which is something we shouldn't pray for. I'll rather suggest that let the government exist while crypto exist too.

Crypto is not yet in it's matured stage still, cause not every business man on the street have an idea of crypto existence not to talk about how it operates and for that reason the fiat money is still of necessity as it playing a significant role for newcomers as it is the only means that can use to purchase and own crypto currency in their local environment still lack certain crypto services.
2517  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Risk of jail for developers. Should you be anonymous? on: December 21, 2022, 04:28:15 PM
I would like to stray a little in bringing up an analogy that could explain responsibility as per producer and user.

Let's Let's guns for an example. It is used for peace as much as war and spreading terror. Its not up to the producer to decide what purpose its user would be using it for. User defines purpose and is held responsible for that.

Anonymity in cryptocurrency has been some means to ensure there isn't any centralisation to it on the part of the developer and that's part of the reasons why Satoshi stayed completely clear of the network and not staying clear of issues with the government.

The development of all these CBDCs only points to one fact, the importance of a digital currency but for CBDCs, the are centralized and tide to a government still.
To buttress on what you have just said mate, I think the CBDCs as a centralized entity are just scared of loosing total control in the coming years as digital currency is gradually taking a centre stage all over the globe and this threaten their whims and caprices as it were before the coming of decentralized digital currency. And the anonymity of developers like Satoshi is one astute technique I must say that has outsmart the centralized systems (government) for sure and there has been no loophole to trace bringing an end to it.
2518  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: December 21, 2022, 07:56:50 AM
This is an interesting idea, but very few people have the equipment or expertise needed to do this.
there's a movie where they microprinted some information into the eyeball of some person on a postage stamp. there was like 4 or 5 stamps on the envelope but only one of the eyeballs had the microprinting in it.  Grin

Quote
And of course you should never even considering asking a professional or other third party service to do it for you.
yeah, that would be very dumb indeed.

Quote
There are plenty of ways to hide a seed phrase in your house which would make it near impossible to be found.
Me crossing off all of those ways since they are now public knowledge... Angry The first place someone is going to be looking now that you've mentioned it not only here but probably elsewhere.

Quote
A favorite of mine that I've talked about before is ...

Well and here's the thing. Those are all fine and dandy ways of hiding somethhing IF

#1) you don't end up forgetting about what things you have hidden and where. if you end up forgetting where you hid it, then you are pretty much never going to want to move out of your house! so what you'll have to do is record where you hid it. and then keep that record safe as you would your own private key which kind of defeats the entire purpose of the entire thing in the first place since just record your private key instead of its location.
#2) say you move out of the house and forget to bring it with you and maybe someone is doing some home maintenance then they find what you hid. your private key has now been revealed. there's a much greater chance of that than someone brute forcing it using a computer.

Like the saying goes, " where a man's treasure is, that's where his heart lies", so for someone to forget to move out with his private key then he must be moving out with something 3times bigger than what his private keys hold access to else why will you forget except maybe such a person is suffering from a memory loss issues.
Another thing which I find risky in hiding a seed phrase in the house could end up becoming a bad idea in the event of a natural disaster like earthquakes or man-made disaster like fire engulfing the whole building maybe out of carelessness while cooking.
2519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I don't have enough for bitcoin miner fees. on: December 21, 2022, 06:54:03 AM
I don't have enough for bitcoin miner fees. What should I do?

Should I wait for Bitcoin miner fee levels to adjust downward?

or use a lower than recommended Bitcoin miner fee?

I mostly get my bounty rewards in BSC coins but this time I got in BTC and the fees are pretty high.
I did some research and found out that I can move my btc private key to another wallet, But I don't know if it's safe or not, I can use this and wait for my other btc payments and then move.
Please share your recommendation, thank you
Can you really wait for BTC miner fee levels to adjust downwards! And how long do you think you can wait, as you're not sure at a particular period when fees would lower down as that might not be happening anytime soon. You're stuck probably because you're using a wallet with a fixed transaction fees and it's best you change your wallet type to one that allows you set your preferred lower transaction fees but be reminded that these fees are time bond, in that the lower the fees the higher the duration it will take for transaction to be processed.
2520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very thankful for what bitcoin has done for me. on: December 20, 2022, 06:06:49 PM
Bitcoin has since it's inception opened different windows of opportunities for so many persons. I still remember at around 2017/18 mostly, how the early boom of the coin which turned many people to millionaires in their local currency for those that bought bitcoin at that early stage, which was a life changing condition that they never expected so fast. And currently with the price of bitcoin on a low am seeing same thing happening in a year or two to come from now.
There are so many things to be thankful about bitcoin based on how it affects you individually. For even being a member of the bitcointalk is something to be thankful too.
