2501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why most of btc users are russians? on: February 29, 2016, 03:42:22 PM
I don't know how true the OP's claim is. If it is true though then it's probably because Putin & their government closely monitor where they spend their money & with bitcoin it's a lot more difficult to be monitored.

It's not true because it's impossible to draw a real demographics on who is using Bitcoin since it's pseudoanonymous (and it can be "fully anonymous" if you take enough effort into it). The only data that can be researched is who is buying in a certain country, and only from LocalBitcoin's since the data on exchanges is private.
2502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: for which purpose satoshi nakamoto developed bitcoin? on: February 28, 2016, 06:22:17 PM
Judging by the newspaper that he put on the genesis block (google the history if you don't know what im talking about) he is most likely a libertarian or something like that, pissed off about the scam that the fiat system is, and wanted to shock the world with an alternative.
2503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin search volume on Google on: February 28, 2016, 05:55:07 PM
Most people are clueless and the only thing they know about Bitcoin is it can go really high or crash, so they just cares about the price and search abotu it when they hear some news about it hitting a high price.
When we crush the all time high soon, probably this summer, there will be another surge of google searches about Bitcoin.
2504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DDoS'er admits to being paid to attack classic nodes... on: February 28, 2016, 05:52:41 PM
In b4 it's a false flag being run by classic supporters.

that's one likely explaination

That's actually the most probable explanation. Anyone can pay anyone to say X, they do this all the time. That's what basically propaganda is. Not to mention that anyone can create an account in Reddit and say whatever the fuck you want to say.
All those guys that criticized r/bitcoin have made the alternative subreddits an absolute waste of time.
2505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The classic roadmap on: February 28, 2016, 05:32:55 PM
Well considering that most of their roadmap consist on copy-pasting Core's dev team code and then changing a couple of things up that are always a big tradeoff against decentralization and privacy, I understand that anyone paying attention and putting things in context is going to be disappointed with Classic.
2506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC was first bottom up experiment. Is ETH first top down planned by banks? on: February 28, 2016, 04:57:56 PM
I still don't understand what actual use cases can ETH bring to the table. Why would anyone use Ethereum if sidechains bring stuff like Rootstock and prove it to work? Why would anyone use ETH blockchain then which is smaller, has less nodes, has existed for less time... I don't see any benefits.
2507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support Bitcoin. Let the network become distributed again on: February 28, 2016, 04:39:33 PM
only 5,000 full nodes really? that's minuscule

Imagine if the blocksize gets raised, you can divide that number by 2 overnight because a lot of people will not be able to run said nodes on their bedroom computers anymore, thats why the blocksize increase is a disaster unless we know for sure it's the right moment in time to raise it, but some people seem to not understand this fact.
2508  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price is bitcoin a good buy? on: February 28, 2016, 04:25:21 PM
If you are here for the long term as you should be, you should be buying monthly until you have a good number of Bitcoin worth holding long term.
This is like gold, you need to have a decent stack to hold pretty much forever to have an edge against governmental chaos and manipulation of assets (oil being the #1 most manipulated asset). Even gold is manipulated nowadays so the only sane thing to do is to hold Bitcoin long term, so buy some monthly.
2509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How does the new easy to use Tor support work? on: February 27, 2016, 05:44:12 PM
So from what I read there it just means that you have to have Tor opened first, then open Core right?
I still say that there should be some sort of visual input on the wallet.
When "Tor mode" is enabled, there should be something that says it on the wallet. Maybe its not a good idea to do any transactions once you have enough people connected or something like that. Im not sure how it works cause I haven't used this much, but I used Tails once and it had a drawing of an onion and at first it was orange, (still not perfect connection) and you had to wait for it to become green, when onion icon was green then it was a perfect connection and it told you something like "you can open browser now". Maybe something like this applies to Bitcoin too? I dont know I havent used any of that in a long time, and I think with Bitcoin we should get some visual information about this.
2510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This study explains gambling addiction on: February 27, 2016, 05:21:38 PM
what ever study or books , no one can change the mentality of the gamblers , everyone knows that on long term will be in loss then also on a small hope they just do gambling, telling advice is very good but following it is hard.

I used to gamble a lot in the past, even tho I have always been a casual, for fun gambler, but the study nonetheless explains how it works, I know that a true addict is very hard to recover, but not impossible tho, with professional treatment it can be done.
2511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BLOCKSTREAM Appreciation Thread on: February 27, 2016, 04:29:25 PM
Lightning Network is the most exciting on Bitcoin right now, I can't wait to see it in action so we can forget the "oh no, not enough blocks! oh no my transaction is taking 10 minutes longer than expected!.." you know all that bullshit. Im going to be using LN cause it's going to be as safe as it needs to be, and it's going to be as fast as we need it to be. We will be competing against the titans of payment platforms in the next 1-3 years and I think this will change a lot of things in the game. Let's see how they deal with it.
2512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Convicts on: February 27, 2016, 04:25:42 PM
Well I think you should definitely add Mark Karpeles, how did you forget to add the biggest scammer of all time on the Bitcoin history?
Im not sure if he is already on jail but he should eventually get there, even tho he will probably leave sooner than later and still be really rich when he leaves.
2513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the bible say about Bitcoin? on: February 27, 2016, 03:49:46 PM
There's nothing about the Bible that could relate to Bitcoin in any shape or form without stretching whatever is said on the Bible into a ridiculous amount to try to reach some conclusion. I think that's exactly how the Bible was written, ambiguous so it could be used in a variety of context, but Bitcoin is way too advanced to be predicted on that old book, whoever wrote it didn't took enough drugs to imagine a decentralized internet currency.
2514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin ever goes mainstream on: February 27, 2016, 03:20:35 PM
The more the merrier.

For me bitcoin doesn't have to succeed, it already did. The people made bitcoin and the banks got scared big time.

Now it is for them introducing a new scheme Wink

I do not think banks should be scared of bitcoin. This is new business opportunity for them. They can continue banking with bitccoin besides fiat.
nah quite agree,as far as i know bitcoiners need bank account when they'd exchanging their bitcoin to dollars and saving it in their bank account so there's no way bitcoin could make bank scared

This is not the case if you make money and get paid directly in Bitcoin. You can get a business started and accept Bitcoin directly, accept the Bitcoin in your address and not through a layer like Bitpay.. this way no bank will ever know you are working and making money in Bitcoin form. If everyone did this there would be no banks anymore.
2515  Economy / Gambling discussion / This study explains gambling addiction on: February 26, 2016, 05:38:48 PM
http://www.livescience.com/8784-bird-brains-pigeons-gamble-humans.html

I think this study is a great way to see gambling addiction for what it really is: Just the hope of a different outcome that will be positive next time.
So just like pigeons press the buttons hoping for food all day, you press the buttons hoping for that jackpot.
The people that cannot control this and know when to stop are the people that are addicted to forever wanting one more spin, therefore going broke and not enjoying gambling for what it should be: just a game.
2516  Economy / Gambling / Re: Battlecoin.org - Multiplayer bomberman clone on: February 26, 2016, 05:32:56 PM
It's been a while since I have checked in on this game.  It still seems like there aren't very many players (especially in Japan).  I hope this gets more popular.  Have you considered running a signature campaign?

yah the sad thing is that it is not getting a lot of opponents to play in the server. it is really a great concept and good gameplay but should try to reach out to more people.

I think what he should of done is made it Pacman or Mario Bros or something else similar. Don't think too many people like the Bomberman game.

Actually I think Bomberman is one of the most loved games within the arcade community. Now, at a mainstream level, you are probably right and Pacman is the number 1 than most casual people would love to play, but I think a 4 player Pacman would be a bit of a mess, or maybe its actually fun im not sure.

But to get the approval of the arcade community the devs still need to get rid of all the lag.
2517  Economy / Economics / If you hold 1 BTC you are a pioneer on: February 26, 2016, 05:18:35 PM
If you hold 10 or more you are part of an elite.

This is my conclusion after the years I have been involved here. Absolutely no one in real life knows what the hell Bitcoin is, and even your most geeky friends may probably never heard about Bitcoin. Now if you take into account the people that has heard about it... what percentage own 1 BTC? Exactly.. you know almost no one.
And what percentage own 10 BTC? I personally know no one (people from this forum don't count obviously).

This simple observation shows you only need 1 BTC to be a pioneer on Bitcoin in 2016.
2518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people around you think about Bitcoin ? on: February 26, 2016, 05:16:24 PM
There is a huge number of people around me, who have listened about it just recently, they don't have enough knowledge about that currency , they are in the initial stage with bitcoin. They came here because of bitcoin provide better earning ways .
But currently they do not have considered it as currency, they have adopted it as the credits to be convertable to their money. I hope they will be sooner with bitcoin as normal people.

I don't know anyone ever in real life that has heard about Bitcoin. We are still very early adopters. Of course, there could be the case of someone that has heard about it and doesn't go around talking about (for example I never talk about it) but that is very, very minority.
Even off my internet friends only one of them has even mentioned Bitcoin to me, and it had something to do with some ramsomware news or something, nothing relevant. So as you see, we are still pioneers.
2519  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: THE BITCOIN HALVING MOONSHIP on: February 26, 2016, 05:12:36 PM
This could be a thread where people holding long term gather and we can share our strategies towards the halving.

Will you sell and try to short by buying back again since I assume you expect a correction after a massive pump, or you will not risk it in fears of being left behind and lossing massive upward gains that you could have made by simply sitting your ass down and watch the show go up?
I personally don't know what to do. I think I had enough risk shorting some alts lately.. I dont want to risk my position in Bitcoin in hopes of nailing a good prediction to buy back again with some more.
2520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What strategy you use to trade bitcoin? on: February 26, 2016, 05:06:09 PM
I do trade bitcoin passive way with paypal, because trading via paypal is more easy for me like cashing out. Usually I hold bitcoins for longer period to get some profits, other than these no big strategies I use while trading bitcoins.
How exactly this passive PayPal trading works exactly? Are you trading p2p or via some platform?
Isn't PayPal for bitcoin transaction frowned upon in the community because of the amount of scams, reverted transactions and general insecurity of these deals?

I don't understand what he means with  "passive Paypal trading" too. I think as you know, anything that involves Bitcoin and Paypal is a terribly bad idea because of the fact Bitcoin cannot be returned in the case something goes wrong. This has been exploit by many on ebay, a lot of people got scammed on there and they couldn't do nothing about it since ebay/Paypal doesn't care about what you do with your Bitcoin, so all you can do is leave negative trust on the seller, but he will just create new accounts so..
