2521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to choose a coin to mine? on: May 21, 2015, 08:52:11 PM
@ hdmediaservices

Pretty much agree. I see virtually no market for alts except to trade for btc and maybe ltc. There are a couple alts that do have a use though, depending on your location. POT, for one, comes to mind. The rest..well...even the ones that have stuck around aren't worth much. DASH, if you have a large enough rig to mine it. UNO pays good right now...but for how long? Hell....it's all iffy.

edit; and for the IPOs...just check supranova.....full of them. Some don't have a website yet, I think. DONE EDITING
2522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 21, 2015, 08:37:21 PM
Hey Folks....I know this isn't the right place, but quick question......how do I launch ccminer to solo mine a coin. I know it's a .bat but .... what?

Yeah...I know...newbs question, except, I've never actually tried to solo. I know the p2p & rcp ports. Brand new coin I wanna try mining before it hits 5000 blocks, at 1700 right now, so low diff. Just curious.
2523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to choose a coin to mine? on: May 21, 2015, 08:29:58 PM
Maybe a good strategy would be to mine a coin _before_ it is on any exchange, and the difficulty is low, and then dump it during the initial spike. That doesn't help the coin one bit, but it might be a good way to make a buck.
This is in general the best strategy as the difficulty is lower, however not all coins become successful either...

OK, you piqued my curiosity. As an exercise, I pointed my rig at the latest quark coin (SED). I caught it at block 92, pretty much right at launch.
The POW phase should last 3 days. Which would have made around 0.04BTC on Nicehash.
Let's see how it fares :-)

You win djm34, I made 30% more than I usually do on NiceHash today, by only exchanging a third of my SED. Keeping the rest for staking and having fun later.
So, to Joblo, that's a 300% difference. Not really minimal in my book  Tongue
Granted, if you factor the time in, I spent a few hours for about 4€. But that's because my rig is ridiculously small. If I had a chrysx-sized farm, that would definitely be worth it.

Look at me, diverging from my own post's subject, while asking everyone to stay on it. I need help.
But you guys gave me a good view of the landscape: I should mine a coin I believe in. And there are no coins worth believing in. I guess when I finally find a coin I believe in, I'll be able to just buy it with my mine&dump dirty profits...
Shit, I'm in a trolly mood today  Grin

Hard to believe you could exchange coins so quickly to introduction. How'd you manage that?
2524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 21, 2015, 03:34:43 PM
did some optimization on quark: +75% (roughly)  Grin Grin
yeah... well  Grin

10 Mh/s on 750Ti?? That's really great!!
will you merge the mods, make a new repo or sell it?

WHAT? 10Mh /w a 750Ti mining quark? Best I get is just under 6.5. No way...unbelievable. Almost speechless.
2525  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: May 21, 2015, 02:00:01 PM
@kano,

Curiosity will kill me someday (let's hope it's not today) but I'm just wondering, once the pool grew to above, say 800T, what's the longest time we went without a block?    Huh
I don't pay much attention to 'time' since that is a factor based on pool hash rate.
If the pool hash rate is ~half then you'd expect to be rewarded ~twice as much each block if you mine 24/7

Luck is (of course) the factor that determines how much reward you get and luck is of course calculated from the Diff% of each block.
Time isn't directly a factor in that.

The biggest diff block was almost 600%:
Code:
115	340609	25.34386957	2015-01-26 23:39:24+00	Matured	261,188,857,971	593.99%	0.997
114 340240 25.01100043 2015-01-24 02:00:23+00 Matured 10,794,121,301 24.55% 0.218

There have only been 3 blocks above 400% so far
Code:
27	332679	25.07887994	2014-12-03 08:42:26+00	Matured	210,195,362,931	525.39%	0.995
26 331660 25.02974871 2014-11-26 06:30:14+00 Matured 21,660,722,086 53.75% 0.416
25 331574 25.08583029 2014-11-25 14:29:15+00 Matured 162,541,112,576 403.33% 0.982
24 330642 25.08259284 2014-11-19 00:16:20+00 Matured 90,569,839,601 224.74% 0.894

Roll Eyes   Wow.....didn't mean for you to get hightech on me....a simple 6 days or whatever would have worked.    Grin   But your answer is much better.

I questioned bitmain concerning voltage settings and by what increments it could be set at. Here is the reply;

Hi,
The voltage can only be increased or decreased by 0.005V.

I just need to work out how to control luck Cheesy Cheesy

It's there in the code somewhere, keep digging!  Cool

Well...What the hell....try a restart @48hr...can't hurt? Oh, heck, it's all luck! No 'Magic Mike'. Bawaaaha.

edit; so serious here. Nobody has a sense of humor anymore. I laughed. No magic,.. mike,.. get it mikestang? Oh well.....trizzle, trazzle, truffle..

The people who work for the pools create fake acounts on the bitcointalk forum and other forums. They work in teams of 2-3 people, and sometimes they can control all the users.

Well said.....there are sheeple to be led.

where'd everyone go?  982Th? Sad

Good question. Rental hashes have dried up recently. Odd.
Yeah seems everyone who left, did just before we found the 4 blocks Smiley

A sweeter pot for those that stuck around.
 Kiss

Whippee...my part just showed up.   Shocked     Grin   That was a day earlier than I thought. I might have this baby back up before the end of the day. I know 500GH ain't much, but every bit helps.....fingers crossed!    Cheesy
2533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [POOL] YAAMP.COM multipool multialgo profit switch with exchange on: May 19, 2015, 01:05:51 PM
I did not hold any obscure shitcoins on yaamp. everything was traded to btc and I have not been paid for the last 48 hours prior to YAAMP being up for the last time. I am owed 0.6 BTC. I mined neoscrypt with 70mh. I have PM'd YAAMP representative on this forum and have not received a reply.

Here is my post regarding this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508786.msg11386798#msg11386798

I held a couple 'shit coins' but have been paid for most except UNO. I'm guessing those are lost in the wind.
2534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 18, 2015, 02:23:45 PM
Should I try using the nvidia-smi tool if I'm OCing my 750Ti with GPUTweak? Been on westhash now for 32hrs. and getting 6325+ kh /w quark.

wouldnt think you would need to use anything but that for windows would you? ...

#crysx

Nope...just wondered if nvidia-smi had any advantages if I'm getting that with Tweak. Thank you

I just bought a funked up S1 from fleabay. I'm gonna steal the control card from that and reflash to s3+ to put in this brick. I should have that back up by Thurs. (or sooner) I've tried everything else.

Oh well, sorry AJRGale doesn't have any hardware at the moment Sad

We just found our 4th block in 18 hours Smiley

that be about right, i get off, blocks, blocks everywhere!

What's wrong /w your r-Box110's? I have a little experience with those and now some experience with s3's. MAYBE I can help. Not sure but willing to try. Up to you.

weeeeee......I see we've been very lucky lately. Oh boy.

Hey, anybody had any luck will Bitmain tech support? I still haven't heard from them.
2537  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: May 16, 2015, 04:16:01 PM
Well...damn...thought I had it fixed! NOT...sorry, still only up using 2 r-Boxes. A measily little 220GH combined. At least they are giving me no problems (fingers-crossed) and running at rated. I saw somewhere in here that somebody was getting crap performance outa theirs. Hint: they don't like USB3, put 'em on USB 2 & they run fine.

Thanks to all for the info on doing a new setup. Think I'm gonna try a hard wire. Gotta plan this out, only want to do it once.

CK, Kano....I'll get this up ASAP. Now, signing off (just the forum) for this moment. Gonna try AGAIN to get this dang thing working. Think I'll pull the board out and try to hook up an rPi. What the hell. Otherwise it's gonna be buy a new controller from bitmain. Or find one on fleabay.

Later-

Ok...have quibit intensity set to 19.3. Close enough for the 750Ti?
2539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 15, 2015, 12:40:16 PM
I don't think the release done for nVidia cards has such bug...it's working for me. Vid ram is within ranges. Just switched me to Quibit....plain jane settings get 5200+. Now I need a setting for 750Ti mining quibit. Help?

right now it is .....-r 3 -R 10 -a qubit

gimme a i
gimme a g
gimme a........

What's that spell....hell, who knows    Grin

serious..750Ti switches for quibit plz? ..Now it switched me back to quark. Those setting I already have entered.

edit; Just read the rest of your comment. Why would you want to run more than one instance? I don't understand? Wouldn't that saturate any cards mem?

edit2; Tried it! Duh...of course the mem gets saturated. So, I ask again...why would you want to do that?
2540  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: May 15, 2015, 12:34:46 PM
I always replace a surge protector after it's been hit...even if it doesn't have the unforgiving order of burnt wiring. Cheaper than replacing the equipment. Thing is, I buy the good ones and go thru ~5 per year. It gets expensive. Keep all the ideas coming for moving these out to the garage. Also, remember it's FL and my garage ain't ACed. Suggestions to keep these somewhat cool? No windows, all cinderblock, not knocking a hole in the wall. lol ( I just know someone was gonna suggest that). Don't know about that problem either. So...got a network to figure out and cooling.

BTW: Thanks group...

hmm.. knock a hole in the wall? ;P

cinder should hold out most of the heat, what's the roof like? tin over beams or got a floating roof? can you pop a vent fan in it (one of them passive domed spiny things) that should remove the stale air out, other then that if the miners don't pass 70 degrees celcius (or 158.0 °F, i think) in there you should be right.  plant natives around the building? put some shade up around the side of it? make a 2nd face on the roof with a 6" airgap?

maybe even bury the whole building under 6' of dirt? pipe some air vents 6' underground and some though the roof? heat pipe the roof to ground? umm..

nah, just get a jack hammer and pop a few holes into the cinder Cheesy

There's always one in the crowd, ain't there.    Huh

Thanks...needed some humor this morning. Got the tracking number.....I gotsta get'r done. Don't want it sitting there doing nothing. Hmmm
