Fun fact is that China started trading oil for Yuan some weeks ago.

And there is no way US will attack China

so basically shit just hit the fan?
2522  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are the chances Bfl. Basic. Avalon. Etc use the same gear? on: October 07, 2012, 02:34:27 PM
I agree with the OP, and i was thinking about this for some time. Suddenly tons of different ASIC producers appeared, they all estimate their product to be delivered for november/december and they all estimate their product to be similar in Gh/s. Hell, BFL even changed the hashing of the single from 40 to 60gh/s, wich is exactly the same of the Avalon ASIC.

Since making an ASIC involve designing the chip, investing a lot of money and then actually producing the masks and then the chips, wich take a lot of time, it's very weird that everything is so similar and comes at november/december  Smiley

Riveted mail:

Butted mail:

And even if it's riveted please do not expect it to make you invincible.

This said, real riveted mail armor with real padding worked very well at stopping things. Tests show that penetrating it with arrows or swords it's almost impossible.

Oh and yes the padding is important
2524  Economy / Goods / Re: Hand made chainmail Vests *Jewelry coming soon* on: October 07, 2012, 02:17:04 PM
1)Galvanized steel or stainless steel

2)Only if it's a RIVETED mail made with rings of the right size and diameter and only if used with a proper padding. Otherwise, NO! Mail used today is almost always butted mail, wich mean that rings are closed by just putting the extremeties together. It's much much quicker and cheaper than riveting it and is perfectly fine for normal needs/reenactment/almost whatelse. But if you want protection you need a proper mail with riveted rings AND you must also wear proper padding.

3)Since it's butted mail, no, it's not made for protection

5)5-6kg

My rings looks similar to the one of the pics, and it still takes me 1-2 months to complete a vest.

my neighbor makes chain mail and goes to penfest....i think thats what its called and i know hes been working on his chainmail garb for years...cant believe it only takes you a week.

I completed my chainmail vest and i know there is no way i can't make it in a week. One or two months. But well, mine is bigger than this one, it's a bit longer and it's much more covered on the chest and on the back. But still, i too can't believe it takes a week

They are very old cards and they are AGP. Since they are so old, and since probably buying them today is not easy, probably you can sell them for a nice profit, maybe someone has a old computer and need it  Smiley

I am glad that I am uninvolved with 99.99% of bitcoin businesses at this point, including the GLBSE. I now have the hindsight that they are ways to lose bitcoin rather than gain bitcoin.

the app store Cheesy

By the way app stores are sending the Internet back to the dark ages with extreme censorship when they become the only "official" means of obtaining software and other content on a platform. Apple's app store is among the worst in this respect.

Jailbreaking. Wink
Buy android devices  Wink

Anyway, what ArticMine said is right, these "stores" aren't a good thing. appstore, microsoft store, steam, they decide what can and cannot be sold on their store. Ah the good old time where you would just type an URL and download a software  Cheesy

2533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why pay fees when mining?? on: October 05, 2012, 04:11:27 PM
I'm sorry but pool fees are only a way for pool owners to profit from the pool. Why should a miner mine for them?  Cheesy

Keep in mind that, in the long run, "normal" people will not have the infrastructure necessary to run a full node. AFAIK, P2Pool requires you to run a full node. Centralized pools do not have such requirement.

Nothing stops a centralized pool to be part of P2Pool, though. That could be used as a way of saying "look, I follow P2Pool rules, so I can never cheat, not even if I happen to have >50%". But even in such context, the centralized pool would definitely need to make money somehow to pay for the infrastructure demanded by a full node, plus its profits.
Today running a node is not a problem. And doing it actually help the network. And i doubt in the long run it will be a problem, if running a node will require servers and infrastructures then bitcoin will become super-centralized
2534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners operate the majority of Bitcoin nodes. on: October 05, 2012, 04:08:11 PM
Why is this a problem? Why should every user be influenced into installing software and operating a node?
Because the more node there are, the better. Bitcoin is a p2p network. When a serious attack will happen, we will need as many nodes as possible.
2535  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why pay fees when mining?? on: October 04, 2012, 02:28:53 PM
Making a living just with pool fees? Shocked Lol, miners are truly fail these days, allowing him to live at their expenses

oh and orphan blocks doesn't justify so high fees, especially when the pool doesn't even pay the transaction fees. As for variance, p2pool doesn't have so high variance and anyway any miner mine 24/24 for weeks, so variance disappear.

I'm sorry but pool fees are only a way for pool owners to profit from the pool. Why should a miner mine for them?  Cheesy
2536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why pay fees when mining?? on: October 04, 2012, 12:16:33 PM
Paying fees is idiot, you just give money to the pool owner and make him rich. Just join a 0% pool. And before someone start with "hurr durr but pool owner must pay for server and blablabla", then i suggest everyone using p2pool. You are the server  Wink

Please note 2 things
1)Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme
2)Soon ASIC will be released and they will be dozen of times faster than your computer. Even todays FPGA are better....

If you have a wallet.dat from the original client.  How easy is it to transfer this wallet to other clients?
To another bitcoin qt client (the one you download from the bitcoin page) just copy paste it

For other clients, i don't know
2539  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: network terahash goes up, but not the price of btc on: October 04, 2012, 12:10:18 PM
why is this? shouldn't the increase in terahash bandwidth cause an increase in price of btc?

i mean it means that more people are fighting over blocks and its rewards
And how does that increase the price?  Cheesy Do people pay to see these guys fight for blocks?

Yes, there are more people fighting for the block. But why should i pay a block more? If a block is worth x$ then i'll pay x$, no matter how many people fight for it.

1)Girls who know bitcoin and do that, already done that
2)Not a lot of people give money to them, so far stripping and getting naked on a normal cam website is much more profitable for the girls  Cheesy
