EXCLUSIVE: DR. ALVEDA KING ON BALTIMORE RIOTS: MLK JR. WOULD ‘BE HEARTBROKEN’

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Dr. Alveda King, niece of the great civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said if he saw these Baltimore riots, “he’d be heartbroken, I am.”

High school students stormed the street in protests and riots Monday afternoon, throwing rocks at police officers.

The protests come on the same day as Freddie Gray’s funeral. He died earlier this month while in police custody.

“As I watched the protest, I’m reminded of several years ago… I was part of the first children’s march in Birmingham, Alabama,” King told Breitbart News. She added that those protests were peaceful and supervised.

“These children are not supervised—they are angry,” she said.

My thoughts are that Dr. King would totally look down on what is going on in Baltimore these days where the bums take over and make shadows out of the peaceful types. Lord knows that Mr. Gray's memory is totally forgotten and not taken into consideration besides hate and malfeasance.

Smashed, looted and burned by the mob: Inside the destruction of Baltimore as shopkeepers tell how they fled burning shops and one says he called police 50 times - and nobody came

The full extent of the damage done by the violence and rioting in Baltimore is graphically revealed today.
Dozens of shops, businesses and gas stations were burned and ransacked across the city as the streets were turned into a 'war zone'.
Shopkeepers told Daily Mail Online that they fled in terror as looters rampaged in as they were still inside - and stole everything.
A family of four had to flee their apartment above the liquor store they owned when it was set ablaze underneath them.
And a gas station owner said that he had lost $53,000 after his store was ransacked. An empty ATM was smashed open during the frenzy.
Rajneesh Nagpal, 39, was furious that he had called the police 50 times but nobody came to help him.

As Baltimore's curfew arrives, some protesters defiant but crowd clearing

Defiant protesters threw bottles and police launched pepper spray on Baltimore's west side as authorities tried to clear the crowd in this riot-racked city after the 10 p.m. curfew passed.

As a large crowd of media watched late Tuesday, angry demonstrators started small fires and knocked over some trash cans before they fled from the street near a burned-down CVS that has become the focus of this week’s protests and violence.

Baltimore police said on Twitter that "a group of criminals" had started a fire outside a library near the CVS.

Some demonstrators had left on their own as the curfew approached.

Overhead, a helicopter hovered, broadcasting an order on its loudspeaker: "You must go home. You will be subject to arrest."

Police moved slowly, trying to push the protesters back without making direct contact.

Tony Sellers, 40, stayed at the CVS, saying he lived two blocks away.  "We can't go out of our own homes? Why? We ain't doing nothing wrong," he said.

Elsewhere, on the city's south side, the police department tweeted about 15 minutes before curfew that at least one officer had been hurt in a rock-throwing incident.

Twitter closes 18% lower on disappointing report

Twitter shares closed 18 percent lower after the social media company's disappointing quarterly report leaked early.

Twitter's first-quarter profit beat Wall Street's expectations but sales fell short of estimates. The social media company posted adjusted first-quarter earnings of 7 cents per share on revenue of $436 million.

Financial intelligence service Selerity posted four tweets after 3 p.m. ET Tuesday with what it said were first-quarter earnings, revenue and user figures. Twitter issued a press release about 25 minutes later confirming Selerity's figures.

The exchange, which made the announcement via the Bitcoin Talk forum and Reddit, says it is seeking to help the global bitcoin market evolve by allowing other companies to integrate its software.

Its three founders had self-funded the platform's year-long production process, spending approximately $100,000 to reach an alpha version.

I guess we should be happy that these guys first put the word out on this outlet yet any leak seems kinda weak. Troubled times over in Russia at this point.

It's about time that Coinbase opens up in the UK to give them the easy experience that Americans have had. Pretty sure this is the easiest option for buying, holding and selling throughout the world. 2 factor authorization option as well which is a must imo.
2550  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust Observer on: April 29, 2015, 02:27:46 AM

There must exist a number of people who want exposure to bitcoin prices, but don't trust themselves to handle the purchase, storage, security, taxes. GBTC doesn't solve the middle two in absolute terms, but it gives someone for the customer to blame (not with direct financial recourse/insurance though of course, lawyerish things).
And that's what is so foreign to me, not being able to handle the product and then paying a major premium to get shares of it. I mean, it's so easy these days and Coinbase is your ticket to buy, hold and sell for way cheaper. I guess it's great that these folks need this kind of treatment and thus seek out said products.

Leader of Baltimore Riots Identified ?

Major news media outlets have failed to report one of the main leaders of the “splinter group” of Baltimore protesters who turned violent is a notorious racist and the former national chairman of the New Black Panther Party, WND has found.

The New York Times, the Associated Press, the New York Daily News, CBS local and other news media outlets all name Malik Shabazz as a leader of the breakaway, chaotic protests. Yet each of these news outlets only identify Shabazz only as “president of Black Lawyers for Justice.”

The AP reported: “One of the protest’s organizers, Malik Shabazz, the president of Black Lawyers for Justice, said the crowd exceeded their expectations, adding that protesters’ anger is not surprising.

“‘This is a problem that has not been solved,’ he said. ‘When there’s no justice, they tend to want to take matters into their own hands.’”

Reported the New York Times on the Baltimore riots: “There, Malik Shabazz, president of Black Lawyers for Justice, a Washington, D.C.-based group that called for the demonstration and advertised it on social media, told the crowd that he would release them in an hour, adding: ‘Shut it down if you want to! Shut it down!’

“Mr. Shabazz said in a later interview that his rhetoric was intended only to encourage civil disobedience – not violence – but added that he was ‘not surprised’ by the scattered angry outbursts because people here ‘haven’t received justice.’”

The New York Daily News informed its readers: “‘Things will change on Saturday, and the struggle will be amplified,’ said Malik Shabazz of Black Lawyers for Justice. ‘It cannot be business as usual with that man’s spine broken, with his back broken, with no justice on the scene.’

CBS Local featured a photo of Shabazz leading protest chants in Baltimore yesterday, with a caption that identified the radical simply as “Attorney Malik Shabazz.”

Ben Swann: The Powerful Baltimore Protest on Monday That Media Ignored

Baltimore, MD- It is the scene that most media is ignoring. While the wall-to-wall focus of national media on Baltimore is on the rioting and violent imagery, most media ignored the growing crowds calling for an end to the violence and demanding that young people stop burning buildings and looting stores. Over 100 clergy marched through the streets of Baltimore last night in an effort to end the violence, and they did it without riot shields and military vehicles.

As over 5,000 law enforcement officials are converging on Baltimore as well as another 5,000 National Guard troops, the nation continues to watch the city that exploded with violent riots on Monday. Images of a CVS looted and burning, buildings set ablaze, juveniles in the streets who have thrown rocks at police. These are the images that most of the nation will associate with Baltimore, and yet most media has all but ignored more than a week of peaceful protests demanding answers into the death of Freddie Gray.

Rand Paul, in Iowa, Courts a College Crowd

In a Republican field so crowded that 10 or more candidates could be on the ballot for the Iowa caucuses, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is counting on the calendar to provide him an edge.

The caucuses, set to be held on Feb. 1, 2016, will be the first time since 2004 that colleges will be in session during the voting, so out-of-state students who have registered will be able to participate.

On three recent Iowa trips, Mr. Paul has visited a college town, traditional liberal bastions that most Republicans honor with a wide berth.

On Saturday, he packed a room just off the Grinnell College campus at the town library, where some parking spaces were reserved for “low-emission vehicles.” The crowd, more curious than foot-stomping, was nonetheless more respectful than during a visit to Grinnell by Michele Bachmann, then a Minnesota representative, in 2011, when student protesters forced her to cancel a public speech.

Mr. Paul’s strategists believe his libertarian-themed conservatism, which polls show to be popular with young Republicans, could be decisive in the 2016 caucuses.

Rand Paul Tells Jewish Audience It Was a ‘Mistake’ to Topple Saddam Hussein

Sen. Rand Paul, a Republican candidate for president, said today in front of an audience of Orthodox Jews that it was a “mistake” to topple Saddam Hussein in Iraq and later wage war in Libya.

“All the way back to the Iraq War, I think it was a mistake to topple [Saddam] Hussein. Hussein was the bulwark against Iran. The Sunnis didn’t like the Shiites, now Iraq is a vassal state for Iran,” Mr. Paul, the libertarian-leaning Kentucky senator, said. “I’m worried [Iran] is twice as strong as it was before the Iraq War.”

Speaking at the Torah Umesorah Hebrew Day School in Midwood, Brooklyn, Mr. Paul said he did not support war with Iran over their nuclear weapons program and took a jab at Hillary Clinton, the top Democratic contender for president and the former secretary of state, for the chaos that resulted in Libya after U.S. forces deposed of Muammar el-Qaddafi.

Hillary Clinton updates her logo to support same-sex marriage

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton changed her avatar on her Twitter and Facebook pages on Tuesday, when the Supreme Court will hear historic arguments in cases that could make same-sex marriage the law of the land.

The justices will indicate where they stand in the dispute over whether states can continue defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman, or whether the Constitution gives gay and lesbian couples the right to marry.

Since she's got nothing, this is her answer to the bribery allegations. Get the small-minded single issue voter types and those that don't want to be called bigots to focus on this and allow Hillary to pull the wool over their eyes on what kind of leader she'd be.

Webb joins Democrats questioning Obama trade plans

A former senator who is likely to challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination is questioning President Obama’s plans on key trade issues.

Former Virginia Senator Jim Webb today said congress has a right to see the details of the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership that would impact U.S. trade with a dozen countries before the House and Senate vote on a separate proposal that gives the president authority to negotiate trade deals that cannot be altered by congress.

“I don’t think it’s right for the administration to be trying to move ‘fast track’ ahead of showing this agreement to the congress for its scrutiny,” Webb said.

Webb made his comments during a news conference in Des Moines after he met with Democrats who serve in tbe Iowa House and Senate. Webb told reporters he’s all for a “pivot to Asia” to strengthen relations with places like Vietnam, South Korea, Japan and Singapore.

“That part of the world is vitally important to the United States, but with respect to the TPP agreement itself, I believe the administration needs to show the agreement to the congress,” Webb said.

President Obama is facing growing opposition from his fellow Democrats to the Asian trade deal and Obama, in turn, has warned China will fill the void in the region if the U.S. doesn’t seal with this deal.

Webb held events in central Iowa on Sunday and Monday. Webb told reporters he doesn’t have “a specific date” set for announcing whether he’ll run for president.
