2541  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why speculate when you can be at peace with Bitcoin on: October 13, 2022, 08:29:54 AM
We all have that price target until when we're going to sell. That's how we're going to proceed in the future and in the hopes of holding it until that day comes.
Holding is a patience game and those that can't take it anymore will have to sell at losses if they have to or if they're at profit, they will never know if they've maxed it out.
We've seen the condition into those people who had hold for a very long time specially into those early adopters which they had been rewarded that much considering that the value had risen up that high.

When you are just going for long term with Bitcoin then its true that you should really be at peace on whatever price you might able to buy in but just like on what others been saying that you would really be longing

for the cheapest price for you to utilize the profits you would make but those are just for short term span of time but if you are really that holding for decades
then you wont really be stressing yourself out.
It is a decision that the early holders will never regret because it's been rewarding for them. And on the other hand, those that have bought at the top and held, are only hoping to recover because they're down at these times.
But as they hold on, they should look at the other opportunities that are in front of them instead of thinking to recover. Because no matter what they do, recovery time will come and it's going to be shown if they're patient enough to see it.
2542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A painter received $50 worth of bitcoin on June 2013. on: October 13, 2022, 05:03:35 AM
Lucky painter lol. Curious if she handled Bitcoin properly or has no issue with the Blockchain wallet. We have seen a lot of allegations against Blockchain lately.
Yeah, that web wallet has got a lot of issues and bugs but it seems that she has held it there and had no problems as she has probably kept the credentials or saved it on the web and that PC or laptop of hers is still helpful when she has gained access on it.

However, this story would inspire others who are wondering to enter Bitcoin. Once a time a small bag would lead become rich. But obviously, need enough patience.
It proves that the little investment that one can do right now can be big someday but yeah, it will take a lot of time and patience.

While everyone seems to be focused on the receiving part, I think the hero of the story really is the person who requested a free painting of Bitcoin, gave a $50 worth of tip for it in Bitcoin, and went through all the trouble of educating the painter on how to receive Bitcoin and what it was, etc.

That's a great person.
I agree, little recognition for that guy as one of the early adopters and didn't even want an exposure to her video. I guess that we know why she didn't want to be part of the video for safety purposes and he might be a millionaire now. That guy was patient to her and has spread his wealth to her.

quite an interesting story

how lucky were the people who bought or owned bitcoins at that time,
but now it's never too late
there is still opportunity and hope.

and luckily the painter didn't lose or throw the bitcoins away,
because basically things or things that are not too important sometimes like to forget.
Not too late and newbies that have think that bitcoin is expensive as of this moment, they can look at such story and majority of us when we saw bitcoin's price for the first time, we have probably said the same thing on how expensive it was.

Wow! Great story! Good thing that she is not into cryptocurrency thing or she might withdraw it earlier like most people into investing. I believe blockchain.com offers accounts but under their custody. Many exchanges and email providers are now gone. And she did manage to keep her email and password for nearly a decade. That bitcoin was really meant for her and she deserves it.

I started purchasing bitcoin when it was at 3 digits price but I sold most of them when it reached 4 digits. So now, I am back on the drawing board.
Very likely that she's into it and saw that the $50 worth of bitcoin becomes a hundred or two or more then she have probably sold it and regretting it at the present that she has sold it years ago. But good thing the story for her is different and amazing.

I've seen this news and while many have thought that the two were okay already. Here goes the news that Poole's family is pursuing to file a case against Draymond.
Well, that's a real family there that won't tolerate such violence that has been done to their family member. It's now on Poole's family if they're going to let it pass or if Draymond apologize to them for what he's done even though he's already said it.
It's always been a different approach when it's your family that has to deal with it.

I hope Poole can control his family if he still wants to play with Draymond. Otherwise, it will put stress between their relationship and the team as well. If it won't go well, I think GSW management will be forced to choose between Poole and Green, who will they keep and who will they trade.
Well, it could also not in control anymore as they've got their own ways of dealing things like what happened to Poole. To Jordan, it's already okay and good.
But if it's his family has some defense mechanism and they can't accept that apology, we don't know where it's going and that will really depend on how they'll tackle it just to accept and justify what has happened.
2544  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why speculate when you can be at peace with Bitcoin on: October 12, 2022, 10:22:02 PM
Bitcoin is a speculative asset and if you don't like to speculate, it's okay. But the others can't be stopped by speculating the price of bitcoin because that's normal on it. It's true that we're at peace if we hold bitcoin because out of all the cryptos out there, this is what dictates the entire market for crypto. There's a safer thought of holding bitcoin and having it seated for a long time  without worries because we know at the end of it, there will be an increase value of it due to its nature which includes the halving.
Bitcoin seems to be the safest coin for long term but then again, anything can happen so I suggest to hold wisely and always have a target price to take profit. This is a speculative market, we speculate the risk and future trend and this is very common and normal scenario on any market. We can’t speculate if the coin is very stagnant or if its a stablecoin, Bitcoin is very volatile and speculation is the normal strategy to catch up the trend. Many still believe on someones speculation by analyzing it on their own, that’s a more wise thing to do so you can win in this market.
We all have that price target until when we're going to sell. That's how we're going to proceed in the future and in the hopes of holding it until that day comes.
Holding is a patience game and those that can't take it anymore will have to sell at losses if they have to or if they're at profit, they will never know if they've maxed it out.

2546  Economy / Economics / Re: Have you felt the impact of inflation so far? on: October 12, 2022, 08:36:18 PM
Inflation can never go unnoticed in today's time because all the world is suffering from this inflation. Specially third world countries where inflation has made life of people miserable and really difficult as they cannot even afford to buy basic food items and daily goods as price of everything is increasing. Either it's oil or its basic commodities everything is becoming out of reach for poor peope. You cannot waste your money on luxuries.
True, on my case and for the case of many other. Inflation is totally felt by many and that's why this is a world crisis that we can't avoid. Everyone is simply affected except the rich folks. From the poor to average people, we're all affected and noticed it.
Consuming goods have became expensive, continuous oil price hikes and it seems that it won't stop at all. While we spend a few bucks before, there can be many basic needs that it can be filled, now, you'll have to pay more because of the inflation.
2547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terra Luna Classic - Take profit or hold? on: October 12, 2022, 01:19:41 PM
Just take profit and leave it alone. I'm sure that you know that there's less hope for that project and many will just abandon that for sure when they've made profits already.
Like them, don't be too emotional and attached on it because you don't know how long it will have that value and it's likely that it'll go to a lesser value since we're dealing with the bear market.
2548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 11, 2022, 07:47:45 PM
But Jordan Poole's family is looking at the opposite direction and wanted to sue Draymond Green because of his lack of unprofessionalism. Green's reasons doesn't change anything because it was his own fault as he brought his problems in their practice, now he got to pay the price because Poole's family is taking some legal action.

Very surprised she waited this long, and didn't think about the wallet before now.
Yeah, kind of surprising that she's able to wait for several years until she remembers that she's received bitcoin from a donator. And then from the tiny value it's got before which is two digits and then she's made it into 5 digits.

Moral of the stories is leave your coins on exchanges since it's much easier to retrieve your old account, if you leave your coins on hardware wallet and you forget your seeds, it's done /jk.

When the CEO of the largest crypto exchange mentions this, it should instill a state of confidence among us hodlers Wink

~image~

And yes, that's a joke as well
Well, we can pass that on her as she really looks completely have no idea what she's doing and good thing that when she's remembered that she's got bitcoin, blockchain.info before, just changed its domain into .com and unlike the other wallet providers, they're gone.
Lucky she was.

I would say this was a lucky situation for her , because actually she didn't have much information about Bitcoin and the assest she was paid with, and secondly to have even remembered her keys, however a lesson from this is patient, if she had sold out the Bitcoin the moment she received it she wouldn't have had this opportunity in her life time.

This same thing is applicable to some people that owns Bitcoin today that are not well informed about Bitcoin , if they holdl BTC this same thing could happen to them if Bitcoin price goes above $100k-$1M per Bitcoin in the future. Generally, holding BTC requires patient.
Yeah, like those generous people that owns bitcoin and sends their family, relatives and friends with like $5-$50 or higher amount in bitcoin then just kept it for a long time. Who knows but I'm sure that there can be the same story like hers in the nearest future.
2550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How USDT (stablecoins) work? on: October 11, 2022, 05:00:30 PM
But I believe there are usdt already on other chain too.
Yes, there are too many of them and it's written on their website and OP can check that to understand more about it. But here's what they have for the blockchains that has USDT on it.

[....]

Tether tokens exist as digital tokens built on several leading blockchains, including Algorand, Avalanche, Bitcoin Cash’s Simple Ledger Protocol (SLP), Ethereum, EOS, Liquid Network, Omni, Polygon, Tezos, Tron, Solana and Statemine. These transport protocols consist of open source software that interface with blockchains to allow for the issuance and redemption of Tether tokens.

[....]
Tether on the Ethereum blockchain, as an ERC20 token, is a newer transport layer, which now makes Tether tokens available in Ethereum smart contracts or decentralized applications on Ethereum. As a standard ERC20 token it can also be sent to any Ethereum address.

Even on Bitcoin network? It doesn't have smart contracts as far as I know
To understand it easily, being on bitcoin's network and issued through Omni Layer, which is just another network just like the others (ERC20, TRC20, etc.)

The Omni Layer acts as a bridge between altcoins, smart contracts and smart properties and the Bitcoin blockchain.

So, basically if someone has sold bitcoin or other crypto and holds it for more than a year in a stable coin and later on converts into fiat. That can exempt him in that 28%, right?

In principle, it should be like that, unless the legislator specifies otherwise. In essence, it doesn't matter to them if you sold Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency a year after you bought it. It is crucial to prove when you bought something and when you convert to fiat.
I guess that their basis is if or when any sort of crypto to them will only be sold if it's converted into fiat. I hope they make clarity with that.

So, basically if someone has sold bitcoin or other crypto and holds it for more than a year in a stable coin and later on converts into fiat. That can exempt him in that 28%, right?

Despite these rules not yet completely closed. What can be understood is that if the user keeps the crypto asset (currency or NFT), for more than one year after the purchase, it is not taxed.

The information is still not clear enough, if this is valid in the exchange between currencies or even if it is for a stablecoin. As of this writing, it is valid for all cryptoassets, which includes everything.
In theory, that assumption is right so even if bitcoin or any other crypto has been exchanged into a stable coin. That's still crypto and that makes it exempted into taxation in Portugal if somebody holds that for a year and a couple of days. There's still a need for them to clarify and specific such as things like this. But all in all, this is a very good news for the residents there.
2552  Economy / Economics / Re: Portugal will be "hodling friendly" on: October 11, 2022, 10:57:53 AM
Oh Gosh - 28% tax
I think the gov should give waver to them for they help themselves and the country - I am impressed the way Nigeria and Philippines has worked on the crypto - they have helped the locals and locals have helped bringing the revenus to the country
As per as the other details, you'll be exempted if you've been holding for more than a year. India has got this tax way higher than Portugal @ 30% tax.
This is applicable for the long term holders and you just have to let it sit for a year and one just to pass on that incentive.
So, basically if someone has sold bitcoin or other crypto and holds it for more than a year in a stable coin and later on converts into fiat. That can exempt him in that 28%, right?
2553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Distortion Pattern on: October 10, 2022, 10:59:47 AM
Lets say you are really allocating funds for the sake of leisure or entertainment but the longer you are doing this the more chances or likely you would really be molding yourself as an addicted player.
It's where it's going. You promise to yourself that you're just going to gamble just to have fun and get entertained. But little did you know that as you stay to gamble and you're making such losses, that's changing things that you've told to yourself before you gamble.
And you'll find that in the long run as you do it at most times. It could be a leisure for sometime but when you're unable to control it, you know where you're going and that's into being addicted.
2554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A painter received $50 worth of bitcoin on June 2013. on: October 10, 2022, 08:58:45 AM
As you can see, even $50 can grow significantly and even now it is not too late to invest such a modest amount for years to come.
I agree and that's why people shouldn't underestimate little amounts that they'll use to buy bitcoin at these times. Maybe some the same story will be built upon in the future the same as what this woman has experienced.

The donation was done way back in 2013, that's like almost 10 years ago. Well, the video was uploaded in 2021 so that's actually 8 years later. But just the same, didn't she change computers or laptops since then?

Assuming that my broad assumption is right — the fact that she might've just saved her Blockchain.com login credentials on her browser, well, Chrome — the most used browser ever, syncs saved login credentials to your Google account by default. Everything should be backed up assuming she's using the same Google account.
Yeah, if by chance she didn't upgraded the laptop/desktop that she used. It was just saved on the browser together with her gmail accout but that's too long for that usage since she's into art. Well, the most likely is that she probably has just kept the credentials.

I respect these people who are hodling their bitcoin since 2013. The longest I was able to hodl was 2 and half years that too during the COVID situation and now I keep selling now and then whenever I need my money for my daily usage.
Though I have set up ledger now to keep saving some bitcoins. I am also putting sharing of money from the part time job and trying to hodl is as much as I could in the future.

These are the stories I need to keep learning and keep myself motivating so that I can hodl longer than usual. Lolz.

Good for the painter, afterall her artwork and hard work paid her off!
There are plenty of motivation that you can look at your own situation. Think of your dreams and what might happen in the future if bitcoin goes on a bull run and price goes up. Just don't stop saving and holding.

The only thing I would do if I were her, and therefore what I would recommend, is not to sell everything. If she's tempted to trade it for fiat, she can sell half a Bitcoin and wait another 10 years. I'm sure it will be worth it.
She's endured a lot of years not remembering that she's holding a bitcoin. But, whether she sells or not, she's in total profit no matter what the price is now but I'd say the same that it's better to hold and it will be more worth it.

She is lucky to still have access to the wallet and her luck is multiplied by accessing the wallet when the BTC price is quite high although not the highest.
There are many stories out there of how they became surprised that their crypto asset in BTC, had multiplied in value in USD due to the increase in the price of BTC, sometimes not knowing how valuable btc could make a profit.
This is just one of the many and I'm sure that there are even greater stories out there that they've found massive wealth by just forgetting/holding that they own it years ago up to present.

This is another way of showing how early investors or believers received their part of cake from their investments , though this sounds like not really a trust but an opportunity and experimental? yet that said painter is a double digit richer now .

and maybe as she continues to see the future? then keeping the said bitcoin will bring Her more confident as the price will continue to progress if she will look deeper to what is bitcoin all about and how this works for betterment of the system and the market.
What I think with a person like her that don't much worry at all whether the price goes up or down, when they see the price of bitcoin goes down it's likely that she's just going to sell before it goes to zero. Just like the typical mindset of a person that haven't understand bitcoin wholly but I hope she kept it or sold around $40k or higher.

2555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A painter received $50 worth of bitcoin on June 2013. on: October 10, 2022, 12:46:45 AM

Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/alispagnola

This video was uploaded in early 2021. It was an exciting story and I want to share it here.

I was just browsing for some videos and have seen this painter received $50 worth of bitcoin in 2013 (1 bitcoin). This video is all about a painter that has been doing free paintings for her audience. And someone has emailed her to make a bitcoin painting and the requestor has convinced her to receive his donation in the form of bitcoin. While this woman has no idea of what bitcoin is and is convinced, she just held it until last year and since we knew what was up with last year, she has checked that bitcoin wallet of hers which seems on a blockchain.com account. And she was blown at first because that became around $11k in total she stated the video was made 3 months ago so basically that's on October 2020 and uploaded it on $39k ATH on January 2021.

And that made her look up to that donator and meet him in person. She's able to contact him through their mutual friend and met him in Vegas. For other details, it's on her YT channel named "Ali Spagnola" and the link is on the image/thread.

This is just one of the stories of success in relation to bitcoin holding. Like, this woman has no idea of what she's about to receive as a donation. Still, after reading the explanation and being educated just through the email, she's in and held it unintentionally for several years which has blown her during the bull run and it could have gone up to $69k if she has held up to that point and sold. I have no idea what's with that bitcoin she holds now if she still has it through the bear market or sold it on high.

Regardless of that, she's still on the win and profit by having that value of $50 years ago and even if we're in a bear market now, it's still worth around $19k-$20k.
2556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Support Casino Operated By The Bitcointalk Members on: October 09, 2022, 11:22:25 PM
We've seen how the early members have responded to the casinos being backed up by co-member of the forum. And most of them have become reputable and known not just on their own usernames but also to the casino that they've launched. It's just sad to see that some of those reputable casinos owned by our co forum members are starting to be disliked by some of their customers because of the issues that they're facing. But hopefully those new that might be launched in the future will be also getting the same support as what the first casinos have received.
2557  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Sportsbet.io - Flagging account and no communication on: October 09, 2022, 10:33:53 PM
Ask the person that you'll be sending directly that USDT if he has used sportsbet or he has bought with some other sportsbet user as well.
I guess by proving that you're not the same person to whom you're linked with that address will make sportsbet believe that it's not a multi-account that they're suspecting you which is likely a violation on their terms and conditions.

I have asked him and i got super pissed at him even thought it is not his fault.
So i have it confirmed from him and told sportsbet as well.

I understand the terms of sportsbet and i’m not angry about it tbh.
I enjoy betting there and they are a legitimate website in general in my opnion and ofcourse they have to abide by their terms of service but in this case it was a mistake that i could not have foreseen, avoided or done anything about.. i just wanted to cash out to fiat and my kraken that i usually use had just got 2FA added so it had withdrawels paused. Everything is supported by evidence.

All i’m worried and annoyed about is lack of communication from sportsbet side and the fact they don’t reply.. :/
As said, Steve on it so there's nothing to worry about it anymore and you just have to wait on the response of them since they're taking it carefully now.
And he said that he'll back to you so, that's a good sign that you've been heard and that will be taken into account with the case that you've sent them, so a little bit and more of your patience.
2558  Economy / Economics / Re: Take shelter, a storm is coming in October. on: October 09, 2022, 06:01:19 PM
Another news that I've seen a few days ago that could also be threatening was when Tokyo residents has been advised to relocate and warned about the recent missile launched over their city by the North Korea.

Source: Japan residents wake up to rare J-Alert missile warning

We're not even recovered yet from all of the devastation made by the covid pandemic, Ukraine and Russia war and now this. There's also the China-Taiwan that could also pop anytime from now on and there goes the ally of China and Russia which is the North Korea.

North Korea's ballistic missile test is not new, it can be said to happen every year. They are just trying to protect their sovereignty as long as the US and South Korea don't threaten their national security then they have no reason to go to war with anyone. They are an eccentric country but they have never hurt anyone, if America didn't make things tense then nothing would happen.
Yes, it's not new but it's dangerous because nobody knows where it is landing. I don't think that they're even threatened. As you've said, it's happening every year and there's no need for them to test that every year because every country knows what they're up to and they can blast that missile anytime, wherever they want and that's why no intervention is going to happen unless they will be the one to first move. IIRC, there have been many times that they've done this.
China and Taiwan are probably the issues we need to worry about, I predict a war is definitely inevitable. But now that possibility is not possible when China at home is also experiencing economic difficulties so they will not rush to act at this time.
I hope that it won't happen because China is a known alliance for North Korea. As most of the countries are dealing with inflation and economic crisis, I think that's even going to trigger a possible war but I don't wanna talk about its possibilities.
2559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Online casino/gambling projects on: October 08, 2022, 08:26:01 PM
Lots of casino sites have started as small projects but developed and turned into big casino sites in time. Yes, they have been running for a long time and still working until now. It took a lot of courage for them to build up a strong reputation to maintain and keep their site running.
It's no joke on how they've built their brand and reputation. It took them a lot of them until they're able to be noticed and trusted by most of the gamblers that they have.
Most top casino sites nowadays have been running for a long time already.
Yes and one thing that I have seen with them is that they've become consistent. And it's all about how they've given the best that their gamblers wanna have through the typical features like deposits, withdrawals and some giveaways.
