The unique url doesnt lead you to google play or app store, so maybe it is a good way to bypass such scenario.
2543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's vote for a new universal logo for all cryptocurrencies on: March 17, 2015, 09:55:41 AM
Pretty good idea actually, i like zak mcgurk but with a lighter background which is more inviting, although i think more people should try since it can be done better.
2544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 16, 2015, 09:57:17 PM
The url referral link gives a lot of motivation for people to say produce a decent video, blog etc and use the link, suddenly you can have a million friends in theory!

This is pretty big for those who have lots of friends/fans, just give them the link and you have earned yourself a reasonable amount of money.
2545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 16, 2015, 05:55:43 PM
The reason it's there is because we are going to add the referral tracking at the top. If you want more Gemz in your wallet invite friends to join  Smiley

Referrals and gemz earned, guess we are bracing up for the airdrop.

I didn't ever use a QR code but from a visual design perspective I agree with the sentiment of keeping it looking simple, having a picture or icon over the QR code looks messy to my Jonathan ive design loving eyes. But you guys need to follow your instincts not just feedback. I personally like the idea of being simple and graphic but I wonder if some text in the right places could help like pasting an address for example or just acting a bit more like a bitocin android wallet with some boxes and guidlines etc. basically I mean something more like this:

http://www.coinspeaker.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/apple-approves-bitwallet-ios-app-01.jpg

Not everywhere but on the more serious practical sending pages of the app, I think guidlines, text, boxes etc give confidence to users when sending money.

Good decision regarding currency as a setting.

In the end you guys need to follow your own vision for the app.

I actually like just a simple qr code page, in the link you gave i think its just too much propped in one window in the qr screen, this is overwhelming for non tech users and especially those who aren't familiar with crypto. I like more how gems is doing it and how they just keep it simple with a deserted/elegant vibe, remember enough information has yet to be added like the advertisement, airdrop and other things. The customisable qr option is pretty cool aswell, it attracts all kind of people.

Nice update some powerful features added especially the referral program, so with the qr scanner we can pay aswell, this app is now my favorite. Now we just need an in app feature to buy btc/gemz easily, well done.

I thought somebody said at some point we'd get an update every other week.  Well than we're due.

You're right we do get update, but its not certain the features you mentioned will be released in the upcoming update. Nonetheless i always look forward to getgems updates.

True updates every two weeks is the rough plan but I would add to that looking at past update dates you shouldn't set your watch by them.  Smiley

Well looking forward is more fair, setting watches would be for the major features and as always surprises are nice too.

2551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin? on: March 13, 2015, 02:47:11 PM
Agreed ^. Bitcoin runs completely fine without any governmental intrusion or regulation. The network and users regulates itself and that is the beauty of bitcoin. People were using and transacting with it just fine for years without any regulation so I don't see your logic.

How much like a couple thousand? Trust me bitcoin won't go mainstream if its not regulated, 99% of people won't use it.

Have to whole-heartedly agree there.  Bitcoin will die before it's even out of beta, if we don't get things like consumer and fraud protection in place.  Insurance is another factor.

All the Gox'ing, Stamp'ing, Mycoin'ing, Neo and Bees, and continuous scams will prevent Bitcoin from maturing and taking off if only the 200,000 or so Bitcoin users in the world use it.  Need to add a few a more decimals to that figure, and only way to do that is to provide protection.

+1 one of the reasons why bitcoins has been crashing big time and that for a couple times is because unregulated exchanges and incompetent people running those.
2552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Regulation The End For Bitcoin? on: March 13, 2015, 02:45:10 PM
When Bitcoin finally becomes fully regulated and widely used like MasterCard I think many early adopters will sell out their holdings at the first giant price spike and stop coming here to post. Think about it, do you go over and hang out at the MasterCard forum? Of course not because MasterCard isn't trendy-edgy-cool. Bitcoin won't be either at that point.

Can you give reasons why they would do that when bitcoin network effect surpasses that of mastercard? The fact of the matter is bitcoin allows you to make transactions without the middle man so even if its regulated i can still send people money p2p without a middleman.

Regulation is needed or else the whole ecosystem will be a wild west and regular people won't join the network, so there has to be trust.

2556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Startup 21 raises record funding $116 mill, aims at mainstreaming BTC on: March 10, 2015, 06:48:21 PM
$116 million is an impressive number, I think they are the best funded bitcoin start up ever.

Yep it is i think, great news.  This could be it guys hold onto your hats.

Geez wake up man. It's not a bitcoin start up, they will just use the blockchain idea for their own products, not bitcoin or its network.

Wouldn't this blockchain need bitcoin to operate since as far as i know blockchain can't operate without bitcoin or any other crypto.

Hoe zetten jullie die andere (vooral met weinig volume) cryptos om naar euros?

Andrea M. Antonopoulos is far more interested with the possibility of Bitcoin being used on text messaging phones where billions of people are currently using very primitive cash based system of exchange were the economy is suppressed as a result of that friction and where a smartphone can represent not just a communication mechanism but a bank service window, a credit service window...

Is he aware of GetGems? I will tweet him when iOS, airdrop is released.

@ Daniel there was a Threat on r/bitcoin with a request from Chinese users to put the apk file on websites since they don't have access to google play.

As Google Play Store is blocked in China, it is currently impossible for most people here to download your apps. So if you want to tap in to the rapidly-growing Chinese bitcoin user base, please put a direct download link for your .apk file on your website.
