2561  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Ledger Live? on: October 12, 2018, 07:43:54 PM
okay so i connected my ledger to my computer.  But when i do this, i don't get the message of updating to ledgerlive.  So could i use it as is now or do i have to go directly to the website to download ledgerlive?

also does that mean if you use ledgerlive, its much easier to use?  Example i know if you have other coins besides bitcoin, you need to sign out of the btc wallet and go to another wallet in the chrome app etc.  So ledgerlive is different?
2562  Economy / Gambling / What is the most legit btc casino/sportsbook/poker site? on: October 12, 2018, 05:47:02 PM
By that i mean they pay funds and are not scam.

By that i mean they have casino, sportsbook and poker.  Well even if it doesn't have one of them, thats fine.

The only one that i know is legit is nitrogensports and they have all 3 i believe.  And don't they have the best odds in terms of sportsbooks compared to other btc sportsbooks?  But are there any btc casino/sportsbook that have live dealer like pokerstars, 888poker and partypoker casino etc?  If they do, i assume limits are going to be much higher right?  Those sites minimum bet is like 5 dollars.  Also has anyone here won from a btc sportsbook like nitrogen and got paid with no issues?  I heard they pay very quickly.
2563  Other / Beginners & Help / How to increase bitcoin without trading? on: October 12, 2018, 05:43:25 PM
Well if you buy btc and hold it and it goes up, you sell it for usdt or usd.  Then can wait for btc price to drop and you buy again that way you have more btc.  But that requires trading.  You could also buy btc and then buy altcoin.  And if altcoin goes up you sell it for btc.  But of course if altcoin go up a lot and you sell for btc and you get less btc back, you do get more usdt though.

But what are other ways to increase btc without trading?

The only way that i could think of would be gambling in a btc casino or sportsbook right?  Say you have 2 btc and want to increase it.  Well you could bet sports... say bet 0.05 btc per game etc.  Or sometimes you could bet 0.10 btc or more if you feel more confident.  Of course the risk is if you lose, you lose your btc.  But if you want to increase your btc, is gambling in a btc sportsbook a good idea?  Now i know a casino is not good idea because in long run you lose.  But there are also btc poker as well.  So if you play btc poker and sportsbook and you are good, you could increase btc right?  Thus that would be the way to do it?  Because if you don't trade, what other ways can you acquire more btc?  Obviously this has a lot of risk to it.  But i heard of airdrops and bounty hunting but i don't have a clue on that.  But can someone here list the other ways you could get more btc without trading or of course using money from bank to buy more btc?  And rank it in term of risk?
2564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BountyHunting and Airdrops? on: October 12, 2018, 05:34:27 PM
So i heard a lot about these terms but confused exactly what these mean.  So basically if you own any btc or any altcoin, you could participate in these?  So basically it requires very little money or does it require no money at all for something like this.  I read about how ppl do certain things like post links on facebook and social media etc and then they get rewarded or something like that?  So basically you could do this for income or side income?

I also heard how when people receive an airdrop or another term, they immediately sell it for btc.  Can someone explain this process as basic as possible?

So if someone has free time or doing nothing, they could make money while on the computer with this?  But how much money could one even expect to make if say they could do this 20 hours a week vs say 40 hours a week?  The other thing i heard is if you do this, you could get scammed?  How exactly you get scammed?  They send you airdrop but its to your wallet and then your wallet get hacked?
2565  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Ledger Live? on: October 12, 2018, 05:27:36 PM
hi there.  i mean last time when i plugged my nano ledger into my laptop, there was option to install ledgerlive and because i never seen that, i just clicked don'd update.

so when i do update it, the link i got when clicked my nano ledger s into it is the one to update it right?  well i thought it was updating firmware so i didn't.  okay i will update it to ledgerlive.  so when i do this, is it same thing to log into wallet?  example i keep bitcoin in it so when i log in, i enter my code, then it ask bitcoin or bitcoin cash and segwit or the other thing etc.  Does it ask you same questions or its different?
2566  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency wallets: Can they be hacked?? on: October 12, 2018, 04:03:08 PM
How are you guys protecting your laptops?

Example do almost all of you use a program that encrypts your hard drive where when you turn on it, it requires a password?  Thus example most of us who turn on our laptop, some of us don't even have a password.  Others might have a windows password to log in but i read that doesn't do much.

Anyone here used bitlocker?  Example even if you keep your btc in your hardware wallet for example, im sure many of you use a program like lastpass or keepass right?  But say someone stole your laptop or got access ot it... or say they got access to it and then put a trojan or whatnot on it... then you use it like nothing happened.  Well i read they could record your keystrokes for anything you go into whether lastpass, your email or bank etc.  Then say you have lot of information in lastpass... then they could basically hack every email or account you have etc... is that correct?  If so, how does one protect themselves from this if something happens to your laptop.  I think someone taking your laptop would be much worst than someone having access to it... then putting it right where it belonged right?  Because if someone takes your laptop, well even if they put a virus or trojan on it, if you don't type anything on it anymore it isn't that much harm?  Like say you have wallets on your computer with cryptocurrency but you can't put those in ledger and you keep it in wallet or exchange.  Well whether you click on a link or download something or someone has access to your laptop and install something, how do you protect yourself from all these things.  Obviously if you click on something or download something, that is on you.  But im talking about if someone does it where you do not know.  Or of course it get stolen.  But assuming your wallets are encrypted... well could they still hack your machine?

What program is best used for this/

Im guessing bitlocker because even if someone stole your laptop or has access to your laptop, well if they can't log into it, they can't do anything right?  Does anyone do this and if so, is process hard for someone who is not tech savy?  I always wanted to protect my laptop because when i turn it on... there is no password no nothing.  But my important documents... well you can't open them because i encrypt it with a program like axcrypt.   But my thinking is if someone has access to your program like lastpass or keepass, isn't that pretty much they can do whatever they want?
2567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Exchange KuCoin and KuCoin shares on: October 12, 2018, 03:52:03 PM
So i notice quite a bit of coins are available on kucoin.

1.  Are they safe and good like bittrex and binance?

2.  Is there verification required such as sending them your id etc?  Or only if you want x amount as limit.  I know binance has 2 btc limit without id daily.
2568  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Ledger Live? on: October 12, 2018, 02:13:44 PM
Hi there.  I like to mention that i haven't used my nano ledger in a while.  So thats why when i plugged it into laptop. i notice i got that ledger live update asking me to update it.  But were there previous updates before this?  So how often are there updates?  The thing is some people i read mention say update it otherwise you could have issues later on?

Im going to update it later soon.  So basically when i plug my ledger into my laptop and open it from chrome as i always do, just click on update.  But when i do this, are there any more questions they ask during the update process?  I want to know this before i do anything such as if they ask me something and not sure what the answer is.  Example like when i first set it up, it ask me if what kind of bitcoin wallet i wanted such as segwit or the other option and i dont want to be confused what to do during the installation process.  Also how long is the entire process?  Are there cases where it updates then freezes etc?  Saw someone mention it did for them here...
2569  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to trade altcoins against USD on: October 11, 2018, 08:29:25 PM
Isn't the right way... say you want to buy altcoin... buy btc and then immediately buy that altcoin?  Then when ready to sell the altcoin... sell the altcoin for btc and then immediately sell it for usdt?  Thus thats pretty much the only way to hold it in usd/usdt when you want to cash out?  The only issue would be you are paying an additional fee but isn't that not big of a deal?

Example you want to buy 2000 of an altcoin for 1 dollar each.  Btc is at 6k.  So you buy like 2k worth of btc.  Then buy altcoin.  Then say altcoin goes to 1.50.  Now you sell altcoin for btc.  Now you have roughly 3k worth of btc.  Then sell it immediately for usdt.  That way you have around 3k usdt minus fees so let say 2980 or something like that.  That way when now btc goes up or down... it means nothing to you because you have 2980 usdt.  Now say you want to cash out to bank now.  Sell usdt for btc... then immediately sell it to coinbase or whatever exchange... then bank in account.  But this means you have to pay 2 fees... first one is going from btc to usdt and then usdt to btc to coinbase.  But you could also just have sold the altcoin for btc and immediately sold it for usd at coinbase or whatever site that pays in fiat.  But the point of having usdt was to buy more altcoins.
Thus thats the correct way right?
2570  Other / Archival / Re: Be Safe on: October 11, 2018, 08:23:47 PM
Have any of you use twitter and see when a person like mcafee posts and then a fake one then post about get eth or btc more if you send them x amount later?  The thing is what if you accidentally click on that persons link... but obviously dont send btc or eth... does clicking on that link compromise your phone or computer?
2571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SHIFT - The next 100x potential on: October 11, 2018, 08:20:27 PM
Does anyone here think shift will turn around?
2572  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading outside of crypto? on: October 11, 2018, 12:24:57 AM
If you trade outside of crypto, if market is down, does everyone lose similar to like crypto when everything is down?  Example say all coins are down for a few days etc.  Well could it be possible to be up with other things?
2573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wagerr Coin Inflation/Deflation running total! on: October 11, 2018, 12:20:09 AM
Confused on thread a bit.  So if you have wagerr coins, you can use them to wager on sports?  Example if you want to bet say $100 on something... you need $100 worth of wagerr?
2574  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gemini Verification Questions? on: October 09, 2018, 10:56:34 PM
Hi there thanks.  So in other words, just use any cell number to get the first verification code.  Then change it to google authy or authy and im good right?
2575  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gemini Verification Questions? on: October 09, 2018, 08:21:09 PM
Okay so say i use the sim card and a number to receive text with the code to verify my account.

Could i then use google authenticator or authy afterwards?  The other thing is either of those require it to be connected to phone number right?  I believe so.  If thats the case, then i could use my google voice number?  Because i believe gemini said it has to be the same number used to verify account.  So they are incorrect?
2576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Should I buy more of the same altcoins as price keep dropping? on: October 08, 2018, 11:36:08 PM
I bought several altcoins where many of the value has fallen by at least 50 percent.  Some even close to 80 percent etc.  It seems like the altcoins price is more stable now at least a bit compared to months ago.  Well bitcoin has been very stable lately.  Now let say you bought several coins and each coin was like 1 dollar, 50 cent and 35 cent to make it simple.  Now the coins are now like 60 cents, 25 cents and 15 cents.

If you buy more of the same coin now and the same amount moneywise... well if the prices goes back up, it doesn't have to go all the way back to the original prices where you would break even if you sell.  But the price it needs to hit is a lot lower for you to break even so to speak.  Do many ppl buy coins this way?  Thus its like hey even though i bought lot of that coin at 1 dollar and it dropped in half, well if i get more now, well im getting that coin at a lower average price etc.  But of course the price can even drop more and make it worst.  Example you buy a coin at 80 cents.  Then it dropped to 40 cents.  You buy more because hey i can get it at huge discount.  But price is around that 40 cent mark or even dropped to 20 cents.  Do you buy more at 20 cents?  My thoughts were hey it dropped to 40 cents... buy.  But now it dropped in half to 20 cents.  But if you buy and it drop to 10 cents, you cut your money even more in half.

2577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Wagerr before it's too late on: October 08, 2018, 08:14:27 PM
Is wagerr worth buying now?  It increased quite a bit but i assume its because of nfl football season?

Also im a bit confused here with wagerr.  So if you have wagerr coins, you could use it to wager?
2578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins Down 80+% on: October 08, 2018, 08:01:16 PM
Do you guys think its a good idea to buy more of the same altcoins that already dropped 80%?  Example i bought a few altcoins at prices that were much higher... these dropped at lest 60% minimum already.  So in order to get even, you have to go back up 60%.  But if you buy more now... then it going up say 30% means you breakeven.  Thoughts on this?  Its like averaging it out by buying more when less?
2579  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: October 08, 2018, 06:55:47 PM
Anyone have a bitcoin debit card recommendation for US citizens but want to use it outside the US like say Mexico or Canada?  Are the fees going to be high regardless?  I want to be able to withdraw cash from atms outside the US.
2580  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gdax/Gemini 2FA and Verification on: October 08, 2018, 06:53:57 PM
Okay would like advice on this.  Could i get say a cheap sim card from the us.. say lycamobile for 1 dollar online.  Then i activate my lycamobile sim on my iphone in the US to receive that sms number?  But would i need a plan for it or not?  I only need to do it for account verification.

But after this, would i still need this same phone number to log in everytime?  Or could i use google authy or authy from later on and i no longer need the same sms number i used to activate it?

Because im out of the US most of the time, so the us number lycamobile won't work outside the US.  Because with coinbase, i know a google voice number sms there are no issues.  But gemini does not accept a voice over ip number.  So how do you guys use gemini outside the US then?
