2561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank of America now treats BTC and ETH as Cash on: July 15, 2020, 03:42:02 PM
Reportedly US Banks are going the treat Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and all crypto purchases same as Cash. In the crypto economy, this move is going to be a milestone. Cool
Don't you think even if it's done then it would effect you negatively too. You can be held for your taxes directly when you earn btc because you are earning money. Moreover it's make easier for them to confiscate your money because now they will be confiscating cash. I don't know why are people Happy on this as it was already legal in US.
2562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess on Sports/eSports betting on: July 15, 2020, 07:44:35 AM
I barely see a popular sports betting platform that includes chess on it. Most of the adults are playing chess so I wonder why there are few sports betting that has it.
Chess is a great game and there are plenty of players on it in lichess.org, chess24.com and chess.com.

Actually, there's a lot of tournament in chess that was implemented during the quarantine and those events are being participated by Grand Masters which has a rating of greater than 2500.
  • Clutch Chess Showdown 2
  • Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge
  • Clutch Chess Champions
  • FIDE Chess.com Online Nations Cup
  • Chess24 MCI Finals

On the side of streaming.

There's a bunch of streamers on twitch that's playing chess right now and you can't believe that it has a lot of viewers. One of those popular streamers is GM Hikaru, he also played on those tournaments that I've mentioned. Even the top 1 overall rating, GM Magnus Carlsen, is also streaming in twitch.

We all knew that most popular games are LoL, CS:GO, Dota 2, and Fornite but recently, a medieval game which is chess, climbed to the top of the most played games in twitch. This game is a sport and can even be considered in eSports since it can be done electronically so I hope there are gambling sites that consider this game on their platform.

GM Hikaru also have a chess battle with popular streamers in other games like @xQc @BoxBox @voyboy @Papaplatte @Yassuo @nymnion and there's a possibility that Twitch will be organized a twitch rival on chess! IMO, it'll be better to have this kind of category since there are many fans of chess all over the world.

Well man chess could such an interesting sport to bet upon. Imagine there is a game going on and we could bet upon the next move of either of players. Result gambling can to be quite interesting. Being a chess player myself this thought is really exciting. But I think the problem is with people who don't know chess. For them watching chess is bouring so that is why people don't make gambling in chess.
Honestly, watching a chess match even if it is an official tournament or not is not as thrilling compared when you are watching other sports or e-sports. And it will not create that much demand if it will be included in sport books.
I think if someone knows how to play chess and plays it at a good level he could be quite thrilled while watching chess and having conversation about it with others while watching. But yes I do agree enthusiasm would be much lower than other sports because it's not that fast game.
2563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the police do if they seize bitcoin from criminals? on: July 14, 2020, 03:00:53 PM
Many criminals choose to use bitcoin for a billion reasons. I don't blame them. In fiat money, if police finds out that a drug dealer sells drugs, they arrest him and then his millions go to government.

If he had (let's say) 1000BTC what would police do? There is no law that says "Police can then take his private keys and move his coins to a government's address". If the police cannot do something with the money then they will leave them to his address. Will these coins get lost? I don't think so. When criminal gets fired from the jail (if he went) he will still have his fortune, right?

In 2013, silk road's owner had saved in bitcoin 400,000$ (by that time's price!!!).
There might not be any law which explicitly says police can take your private keys but I am sure that confiscating all your personal belongings which are valuable is an authority that police has so it might not be that difficult for them to seize anyone's private key legally. But coming to the second question I doubt any government has a cold storage in cryptocurrencies where they make all their cryptocurrencies collection. But I think that they might be auctioned for sure. Or if not auctioned would be sold at a fair market value to someone. But yes I am curious what these small third world nations do because I doubt their police would even be knowing about cryptocurrencies and such stuff.
2564  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell me a reason why I should use online wallet. on: July 14, 2020, 02:55:45 PM
I was having an argument with one guy from the internet. He uses online wallet instead of an offline. I tell him that bitcoin loses its point if you use an online wallet. He's also trying to convince me to use it too because it's more simple than an offline. I doubt. Anyway, I want one, only one reason, that online wallets are better than the offline ones.

The fact that millions of people use blockchain.com pisses me off. I don't know if the majority of users choose online, but they are many for sure.
The thing is that one who earns in cryptos and has most of spendings in cryptos is pretty comfortable with "offline" wallet or basically a wallet of which you hold private key. It's because they don't need any fiat conversion and even if they do they are willing to go a long way because that's occasional. While with online wallets as you say them, they provide swift conversion into fiat and simple UI or Simple might be a wrong word you can say a familiar UI to most of the banking/ payment apps. Even though it's highly risky to use third party wallets, but their investment or holding might be small enough that maybe no hacker/ website would confiscate that for sure. This fiat conversion thing is the main reason I believe most people use bitcoin exchanges/blockchain.com.
2565  Local / India / Signature Campaign earnings and GST | People please pay attention! on: July 14, 2020, 11:13:45 AM
A very crucial topic I was having in mind since many days. We all are pretty aware about our income tax obligations with regards to incomes earned by us in cryptocurrencies. But it has come to my attention that most people were declaring signature campaign/ marketing campaigns/ bounty earnings as Incomes under PGBP/ Other sources. Here there is one pretty big point on which I would like to draw your people's attention and that is GST. This is something over-looked by us because we are of the opinion that GST is merely for people doing businesses. But this is not true!!

Until the Service tax era, (pre-GST era), Export of Services were completely excluded from the space of service tax. This means that you don't have to pay service tax in services exported by you. But now things are not the same. In the IGST Act, I quote:

“Supply of goods or service or both –

(a) when the supplier is located in India and the place of supply is outside India;….. ”

Shall be treated to be a supply of goods or service or both in the course of inter-state trade or commerce.”

This means export of services is treated as interstate supply in GST liable to IGST. Therefore all our services provided to people/ exchanges/ ICO/ Websites located abroad is liable to GST. In general cases these are zero rated supplies subject to certain conditions. Which means either you once have to pay IGST and then apply for refund of GST on such servcies or you have to get Letter of Undertaking and give it to CBIC to avail such exemption. Either ways you would still need to complete all compliance. and in first case even pay tax once before you get refund of it. But we won't be able to get this refund because we will not get our payments in foreign exchange. We will get it in cryptocurrencies.

This means that all of us are doing taxable interstate supplies. But only relief is under the Basic threshold limit where it was cleared by GST council vide: Notification No. 10/2017-IT dated 13-10-17 that people doing only interstate supply of services are not required to get registered under this act if aggregate value of such supplies is below 20 Lakhs.

But remember this is in context of all the services provided by you. This means if you are doing some regular work full time and were thinking that your business doesn't needs GST you should add up your signature campaign earnings in that. Unless they are not in the same business vertical. Moreover if you are giving export of services exceeding 20 lakhs then you have to get registered and issue invoices on the same and pay taxes on such services yourselves.

So before you file your Income Tax return by merely declaring your signature earnings as other source or Business Income. Do keep all these calculations in mind. Alternatively ask help of any CA( because he would understand both Income tax And GST). I would recommend you to go to someone having knowledge of cryptocurrencies many traditional CAs are not aware completely about cryptocurrencies so seek proper help.

No section simply transfer of Bitcoin would be covered under Capital gains as the sales consideration is easily determinable in that scenario. 50D is for calculating Sales Consideration in certain scenario if it's not clear in the transaction. When you receive an inbound transaction of BTC then it's better to directly check the source of that Income. Attribute the correct source and then note the Value on that date. Because if some signature campaign provider paid you xxx btc he might be having certain dollar amount in mind. So better take INR value of BTC on the date you receive it and show it as your income.

Suppose, you did some work and when you received the BTC it's value was 1 lac, and when you actually sold it was 3 lac. So how do you pay on it? Is it under capital gains or in business income?
Once again Disclaimer is that there is no clarity in law so I am going by the existing provision. Webtricks rightly pointed here that one way could be take 1 lac as a income from other source and declare it when you earn it and when you actually sell it 3 lac - 1 lac will become your capital gains. This seems the most legible option in my mind.

Go for declaring the income as business income on basis of FMV of BTC on day you receive it on basis of section 28(via) at 1 lakh(Pay tax in year your earned such income not when you sold it for rupees).

When you sell your bitcoin later on for 3 lakhs. Take the Cost of acquisition as 1 lakhs on the basis of section 49(9). Declare this as capital gain.

I am writing appropriate sections so that you can communicate the same to your CA when you seek representation. Alternatively you can PM me if you want my representation in your return.

As of now, there are two realistic possibilities - New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
The case with New Zealand is very difficult, as NZC has hinted that they are not interested in hosting the tournament. However, the NZ government may be willing to help the BCCI, considering the enormous revenue this tournament can bring to the country.
Sri Lanka is also an optimal choice. This country has remained 100% free of local transmission for the past one month or so. If the BCCI is looks for safety, then it won't get any better than Sri Lanka.
Then if the BCCI is really desperate, then they may go ahead with a tournament in either India or the UAE. But then enormous risks are going to be there.

Sri Lanka is the best choice. If Sri Lanka cricket board want to host IPL. I think Sri Lankan cricket board will be interested about hosting IPL. because they will be able to make much money from it. BCCI has another option, that is UAE, But you know UAE is not yet free from coronavirus. so BCCI may will organize IPL on UAE, but then many cricket boards will not give exemption to their players to play in IPL  due to covid-19 epidemic. so, Sri Lanka is the better option for BCCI.
Even Sri Lanka has 2700 cases. Do you think Sri Lanka would be ready to bring in 500 foreign players, umpires, support staff, franchises, referee and will the interenational boards of these countries be willing to send their players somewhere around the world? Think of it if someone catches covid in between the tour the whole Series would be more or less haunted. Because every team will be playing against each other.
Sri Lanka is the best choice. If Sri Lanka cricket board want to host IPL. I think Sri Lankan cricket board will be interested about hosting IPL. because they will be able to make much money from it. If ICC gives the green signal to conduct the IPL then not many countries will fight over it and restrict the players from participating in the tournament and the ICC is yet to cancel or postponed the T20 World Cup and the reason for the delay in verdict might be because they are expecting the situation to be getting better in a few months which is not going to happen and there is no point in delaying, if the ICC wants to conduct the tournament they need to first get the permission from the Aussie government.
Which I don't really think they would give. Another thing is New Zealand players. They finally are coronavirus free would they be sending their players abroad and take the risk of covid spread again?
2568  Local / India / Re: BTC VS UPI ? on: July 13, 2020, 05:34:24 PM
PS: Google pay scratch cards are a plus too you don't get that in Bitcoin Grin Tongue

Yeah! Giving away data related to my spending habits for 'scratch cards' so that apps like PhonePe or Google Pay can make bucks by selling that to companies like Amazon or Flipkart is surely not a bad idea. Not to forget that you get 'Better Luck Next Time' in 9 out of 10 cases.

Note: For UPI-based payment apps like PhonePe, data mining based on their customers spending habits is the most prominent source of earning. Companies like Amazon and Flipkart are ready to pay millions in order to target right customer base for their products. This is not illegal as data collected by payment apps don't include private information but still it's morally wrong.
Undoubtedly true. I attended a seminar with some company where they clearly demonstrated. How banks themselves are involved in analysing your statement and determination of a person's spending habit. Accordingly they create sort of an algorithm on basis on credits and debits to depict whether such person will face liquidity crunch in near future and this data is then sent to their lending arms who package their products specifically for you so that their turnover rate increases manifold. No doubt this is ethically wrong.

Ps: I always get better luck next time when I transact with you. I guess You are the bad luck. Tongue
2569  Economy / Economics / Re: Maintaining safety measures after pandemic for human -economical- resources on: July 13, 2020, 01:30:21 PM
A nation economy can be sustained/revived by a sustainable human resources -work force-. Human resources are browbeat by
+ Disease and sickness like the covid-19
+ War,
+ drought,
+ disaster,
+ Mortality and more

For flourishing economy, nations should sort means to preserve there human resources -work force-, the pandemic covid-19 has begot a drop In human resources, some ill and at worse mortality rate rises  It has been dark times around the world.

To curtail the spread of the virus world health organization -WHO- had given some guiding safety measures
+ Washing of hand - sanitizer or soap-
+ Social distancing
+ Cover your face while coughing
+ Wear a face mask
+ No hand shake, avoid touching facial orifices
This measures does not make you invisible to the corona virus.

Now to my point there are other highly communicable diseases not just covid-19, disease like tuberculosis, Lassa fever, Ebola virus amongst other leaves you open to contacting them.
The safety measures to the covid-19 virus has made us more civilized and more aware to it dangers. Even my country where you take a bus and encounter more passenger than the bus can carry some standing and clustering now it's more civilized, you go to a restaurant, mall, bar and things are done with consideration to human health.

Measure like wearing of face mask might be asking for much but others can still be maintained for a better living.
I think this is a one time thing. We saw such pandemics in past also but not much has happened to general human psychology of prevention. We take preventive measures only when necessary and once things are back to normal we generally throw these preventive measures away ourselves. Because if what you are saying was true there wouldn't have been covid pandemic at all people might have got much civilized after the Spanish flu but we all know that didn't happen. But yes there is one major communicable disease which needs to end and that is HIV for sure. it's deadly because people don't get symptoms until they are on verge of dying. This is pretty bad.
2570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 13, 2020, 01:25:43 PM
Not expected at all. I guess England is a way better team than West Indies. I didn't watch the match though; kept some update only. Lucky that I was busy with gambling on soccer onlym Otherwise, I would have lost definitely.
It is obvious England are a much better team but the main players was taking an extended break and West Indies was able to capitalize on the situation and win the first match which no one really expected, the major difference in this match was the way in which both captains played and the team they selected and crucial catch Ben Stokes missed in slips which was a straight forward catch off Blackwood, literally the dropped the match.
I think england was still with the best bowling lineup yes their batting lineup looked a bit novice but you have to praise west Indies as to how good they batted. Even west indies team Isn't a much experienced team so all on all i think west indies did play a pretty nice game. The way holder bowled is magnificent and how blackwood Batted in pressure conditions it was great too.
Looking at now, it seems England was bit over confident, that's a only reason they left Broad out. Sloppy fielding made it worse and didn't helped their cause. Blackwood batted well but English fielder gave him 2 chances by dropping his catch early on his inning (5, 20) result he and Roston Chase came up with 4th wicket partnership.

Broad and Joe root will join the playing XI in the next match. so we can hope 1-1 and then series decider on 3rd test match.

,
I still feel that it won't be pretty easy to tackle west Indies now. They now are a bit more confident and hopeful that they can at least get some winning chances from this series. Even with Joe and Broad back. I feel England's batting still would be pretty dependent of Joe Root. Still yes match would be much more interesting to see. But yes Anderson did show off by saying that leaving out Broad shows strength of England bowling and we pretty much saw what happened to it. LOL

Broad and Joe root will join the playing XI in the next match. so we can hope 1-1 and then series decider on 3rd test match.
I don't really feel that these two will make a huge difference currently since they have been out of form in recent times. They will definitely help though. I was surprised to see Anderson not perform well in the 2nd innings.
Well Broad-Anderson is tested and deadly combination in the English condition and no matter how bad form is Joe Root facing (Which he's not) he always produce 40+ runs in each inning, its another discussion that he gets out after that most of the time.

Agreed. Both Broad and Anderson have remained mostly outside the media limelight, despite their achievements. Both these players have a combined 1,100 or so test wickets to their name. Broad is remembered for his horrendous over against Yuvraj Singh. Very few people talk about the 7/72 he had against the West Indies in 2012 (and that too returning from an injury). And regarding Joe Root, there is no doubt that he is one of the best test batsmen currently out there.
Broad is one of the finest bowlers in the World. He was just too unlucky to have been facing Yuvraj Singh that day.

I can't control my laughter after seeing BCCI trying so hard to have an IPL this year. The BCCI came up with the IPL, only because they wanted to destroy the Indian Cricket League (ICL). If the Zee Entertainment Enterprises had not came up with the ICL, then the BCCI would have never considered to launch a franchise league of their own. Now the IPL has grown bigger than any other cricket tournament.
I don't think it's 100% true. I mean yes BCCI might have got some inspiration from ICL but saying that there would have been no IPL if no ICL that is wrong. Cricket took this franchise based league idea actually from football. They could never do this earlier because of 50 over format, but introduction of twenty over game made this idea a reality. But yes that being said BCCI are trying their best to ensure this revenue comes to their pocket this year. Who knows they decide to do two IPLs next year. IPLs are even more profiteer than World Cup. LOL.

Well said brother. I'm agreed with you. I think BCCI is trying hard to organizing an IPL in this year only for revenue. You know that BCCI earn a rich amount of revenue from IPL sponsors and advertisements. they don't want to lose this handsome amount of money. so, they want to organize IPL in this year hardly. but I don't think that BCCI wants to destroy the Indian cricket league.
Fun fact: cancellation of Ipl has caused bcci a loss of more than 3800 crore rupees. So their desperation looks pretty obvious.
But yes it's thousands of crores at stake. I won't be surprised if BCCI gets ready to fight with Government too on this issue.
Prodigal son who turns investments 1000s of times is the secretary. Papa is the Home minister. I don't think if they try to go ahead with it, BCCI is gonna need to "fight" the government. Of course, they will make a show out of it so the news channels have something to talk about. For bending public opinion, we have the famed whatsapp army, which btw, is busy making self-goals these days when it comes to pissing off Nepali citizens.

Politics aside, i think they can go ahead with it anytime they want. Its just that most of the "celebrity owners" are probably not on-board considering the conditions in Mumbai and potential loss of investments as the stadiums won't feel. There is the player fees, auction money, advertisement etc that has to be taken care of. IPL runs really close to the entertainment industry and it is in shambles right now.

Everything depends on whether these stakeholders can turn a profit. From the general perception of the Indian public, it can be safely assumed that very few people would like to go out in a crowd of 60,000 in the stadiums. There is no business case for IPL, even if we count the viewing rights.
Haha oh yes sorry i forgot the connection of bcci with our beloved home minister. What I meant here was courts and not government exactly. But yes you are absolutely right it's about the money but actually 3400 crores of income comes from streaming rights. The income from stadium tickets is meagre 400 crores. This 3400 crores can still be pretty much preserved
~snip~
Yeah, 99% chances (Without spectators; question is where?). I have mentioned numerous times that IPL is first priority for BCCI because its their lifeline. They don't have any other choice, so only 1% chance of cancellation. The way i see it, BCCI waiting for official confirmation from the ICC in regards of T-20 World Cup cancellation. Once they cancel WC, then we can expect some quick action from the BCCI.

I might be dead wrong on my calculation when giving % number in favor of IPL/BCCI here but that's make sense to me right now when i look at the big picture.

I think the sole problem isn't spectator but the teams and support staff too. We have 8 teams with roaster of 20 players each and followed by support staff and few managers from franchises. Even if they decide to keep it in just one city like Mumbai. Still accommodating so many players within a city can be cumbersome. And not to forget that foreign players would have to undergo a long quarantine. I think all the players would be kept in complete isolation for complete series. So all this doesn't makes sense as per current protocols. But yes it's thousands of crores at stake. I won't be surprised if BCCI gets ready to fight with Government too on this issue.
When $500 Millions at stake then anything is possible all they have to do is invest bit more in logistics and safety of players, which they are already aware of and its very much doable IMO. As far as i know Center gov doesn't have much say in it as they already issued a multiple guideline when they unlocked the lock down (except opening Intl air route, BCCI is capable to hire private jets for personal use) so its all comes down to state gov. BCCI would like to see IPL going ahead in India but their first choice is UAE and UAE seems eager to host IPL season. I would like to see IPL in Sri Lanka as its economical good option but UAE is okay too.

yes but I think no matter how much they invest. There is a still a lot of risk involved also when WHO is saying that disease might be airborne. And why would even UAE or Sri Lanka want it to happen in their countries? Without crowd allowed in stadium there won't be much of revenue for them.

$BTC Daily Update

BTC took a rejection right of the Daily Pivot Point.

We now at the Support Cluster (Support Trendline of an Ascending Channel + Mid Line of the Descending Channel). It's an important point to be held, as if we lose this area we will change the Mid-Term Trend.
Hey Just a pro tip. Instead of going at the naked chart why don't you take some indicator handy. I mean if you could put up a RSI or MACD alongside this you could further get some clarity regarding the probable momentum at this point?
Maybe even a volume analysis could help? i feel that it's long consolidation around this point so you could easily expect a lower RSI here below the oversold area. If this is the case BTC could breakout in upward direction.
2575  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Strategies to Face the Next Crisis on: July 10, 2020, 11:00:35 AM
I would like to add some other tips for people in your list:
1. Try to find source of new income. If you are doing job try to get some part time job side by side. Never get over dependent on one source of income. No matter how much overtime you do your employer would still lay you off on the name of Cost Cutting

That seems to be the hardest point for most people to grasp

Because a regular job gives you a false feeling of stability and certainty, which are not there. And it is not even so much about overworking as such (which may make sense in certain circumstances). A lot of people tend to think that it makes them more valuable to the company. However, this is not the case as what extra hours actually contribute to is your employer's certainty that you desperately need to keep this job, i.e. resulting in the opposite result, not the one you may expect and hope for. Really, would you willingly choose to overwork if you didn't depend on the job?
True Indeed! I think quick promotion and appeasing the boss are sole reason why people develop tendency to overwork. What actually should happen is working for a different source of income in that same time. People always remember not to keep all their investment in one Asset. But the same thing applies on sources of Income also. Why keep all your income from one source? Shouldn't we apply the rule of don't keep all eggs in one basket here? I have seen this habit in most of the financially stable people that they never depend upon one source of Income and whatever may happen it's a very low chance that all sources of Income would shut down due to some reason.

Honestly I already lost the hope of watching IPL for this year, now the whole country is afraid of covid 19 effect in the near future.

~snip~
UAE also got decent amount of corona cases but they are good at controlling by giving good regulations but still Do you believe that it is possible to host IPL 2020 successfully?

Just in ... Asia Cup is cancelled, says Ganguly
~edited out~
This is really sad to know that finally Asia cup is cancelled and now it will be held in 2022 in Pakistan. All this is being done to make the IPL possible as Asia cup schedule was conflicting with the IPL. If Asia Cup 2020 postponed due to Covid-19, there should be no way PSL or IPL could take place at the same time.
Yeah, No Asia cup this year. saw some confirmed news of cancellation as well, now they are looking at 2021 Asia cup in Sri lanka. We could argue if its ethical or not but fact is everything comes down at revenue so its shouldn't be that surprising.
2020 is the worst year for sports almost all tournaments are either getting canceled or getting postponed. Already six months have passed in this dreadful year and every day you only are hearing is bad news. I am skeptical, whether it will be possible to conduct Asia cup in 2021 if the pandemic situation is not controlled by that time.
haha don't forget the Olympics. That's the biggest thing that has faced a cancellation this year. I feel pity for these people as they actually do a very long training to participate in this tournament.
2577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 10, 2020, 10:46:25 AM
West Indies should capitalise the start they have got it . They are in good position and tomorrow will be an important day in the test match beacuse if WI does not take a good lead and England bounces back and bats well then it would be an interesting match and if WI can take good lead then England will automatically will be under pressure as then they will play to save the match .
No one can predict about West Indies as they are one of most unpredictable team in cricket today was belong to them but if England bowlers done some good bowling then surely they can fight back as West Indies have to go for last fourth inning and its never been easy for any team weather is also troubling but one thing is sure now we are watching some good and interesting match for next few days.

Its no surprise for me as I said I liked the WI a week before the match started as we need to remember that both teams haven't played cricket for months and that even though the match is played in England I still think it will be even due to not knowing which team will be in form. The WI have done a great job so far and I am hoping they continue on with it and get the win as I have a bet on them to win the first test match. Also last time these teams played the WI played very well so they have shown that they can match it with England.

This is just a surprise performance from west indies players and they shown a great commitment to the match. This is not easy to leave your country in the pandemic and then give such a brilliant start in the first test match which is played after so many months. Not only their bowlers performed well but also their started batting good in the first innings. Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope should take the team to 100+ runs to make the position of WI more strong in this match.
Yes, I am too pretty much surprised with their batting performance so far. No useless shots, they are playing this match pretty much like a test match. Especially Brathwaite he is showing proper experience and is doing his role so nicely. I am really happy to see West Indies coming back in Test Cricket. England is not an easy team to play against and that also at their home. Bowling line-up is Jimmy, Jeofar, wood, stokes. This is really the best bowling line up in the world. I really thought that this series would be too one-sided.
Great to see West Indies restrict a team like England to 204 in a test match. To be fair, the English side is filled with newbies that I have never heard of. Guess they under-estimated the West Indian side here.

If West Indies can somehow amass a 100+ run lead, they have a good chance of winning this one. Hope and Chase are the players to look out for in my opinion.
Actually the batting line-up is pretty noob. I think England has decided to win this series merely on the basis of their bowlers. But so far even the bowlers don't look so good.
2578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin soon will become a boring investment? on: July 10, 2020, 05:19:55 AM
Allot of people are making investment in Bitcoin, even with the risks involved. Everybody want to own Bitcoin. Many have half or more than half of their portfolio invested in Bitcoin already, This digital currency is becoming  almost common to all, when everyone owns a Bitcoin who then will care about it as it will be as common and a boring investment.

I believe this is a treat in the Bitcoin market value, could this actually bring down the market? Or it is a sign for feature increase in the market? Your thoughts are welcome..
This is like a double edged sword. On one side you will get less market volatility when a lot of people begin to hold bitcoin for an increased price but the problem comes when you realise that bitcoin get it's intrinsic value from the fact that people use it as a currency and when people are using it as a mere asset. This creates a sort of paradox. So technically it's price is merely a bubble if people stop using it for underlying utility.
2579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Revolution or Evolution ? on: July 09, 2020, 03:09:06 PM
Did Bitcoin just evolve to satisfy the masses or was the whole project hijacked by the Puppet masters from the traditional Fiat system to stop the revolution and the inevitable change of money as we know it?    Huh

Bitcoin is what its users choose it to be.

The majority of people don't care about its principles or don't understand them. Luckily there are enough people who keep those qualities alive because one day they might be vital.

People usually attempt to bend something new to fit in with what they're comfortable with already. It takes quite some time to get beyond that and let the underlying innovations flourish.

It's far too early to decide whether it's compromised or on its way. These have all been phases we're passing through.
Can't agree more. People will use something with which they are comfortable and the change would come only if the newer thing provides value larger than what the previous was providing. But I think Bitcoin in it's original form has had enough time to showcase whether it can be used as money or not.

Many countries absolutely banned Bitcoin when they realized that it was a threat to their local currencies. Bitcoin survived in countries where they defined it as a commodity and not as a currency.

"many" is an overstatement. i have only heard about 2 or maybe 3 countries that have absolutely banned bitcoin the rest of the 190 or so countries have not!
many countries actually haven't taken any kind of firm stance about bitcoin whether for it or against it. they remain mostly undecided and have allowed it to run its course for now.
some countries have actually accepted it as a currency and have been happy about it.
some countries have called it weird things like commodity, security,... and it was mainly for tax purposes not an agenda.

Ok, this is absolute BS.... Bitcoin was banned in most countries for a very long time... and governments was very hostile towards it. Things only changed a little in the last 6 years or so.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country_or_territory

The tax on bitcoin is not a problem at all... most currencies are taxed with some kind of VAT system... so it is not hard to tax it at all.... it gets tricky when you tax it as a commodity, because capital gains comes into play and also losses incurred in trading. (this makes the tax process more complex)

You have to put a little bit more effort into your posts for the highest paying signature campaign on this forum my friend.  Wink

i think you need to go and take a look at the link you posted here yourself. i counted and there are only 7 cases listed as "illegal" which still doesn't count as "many" when it is out of 190+ countries.
you can also look at the map for a fast visualization. hint: the red is ban cases:

keep in mind that being hostile toward something is not the same as "banning" it and also banks being legally prohibited to invest in bitcoin or the banks prohibiting their users from using their services to buy bitcoin is not called "banned" bitcoin.

as for taxes i didn't say it was a problem, i said their definition is like that for tax purposes because it is easier to tax a commodity,... than to tax a currency.
Actually this could fall like a domino or is much like a magnet effect. I understand that most countries until now haven't banned it. But once the top G-8 or something decides to ban it. It could have a hard time as most of the countries do the same done by these top countries. Like If USA bans it many more will be coming behind it banning cryptocurrencies.
2580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes on Bitcoins: Unreasonable or essential? on: July 09, 2020, 03:03:46 PM
Okay I will give you two aspects of it. First is on a micro scale. Why would you want to pay any taxes on Bitcoins? Obviously it's your hard earned money and government hasn't helped you to earn money. Nor are you keeping the money in any government account or with government security. So why should anyone be liable to pay tax on bitcoin and that too at an exquisite amount percentage of 20-30%. Sounds valid?

But lets take this scenario at a macro scale. Aren't the other citizens paying taxes pretty much the same as you? Why should you get an advantage for merely earning incomes in bitcoin. Think of it that if someone else is earning Income in other mode which is not taxable will you be ready to pay his burden of tax? Moreover on a macro scale. it's for our very own usage. You are using infrastructure set up by your own tax money. So tax on bitcoin is essential unless you are ready to undertake the task of constructing the road besides your house on your own. Or you are ready to invest in power grid of your home on your own.
