2561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At What Age You Got into Bitcoin and also Trading? on: January 04, 2023, 09:03:38 PM
The older people, OP, are not in high numbers because they've embraced the traditional finance system, and are not deeply into new technologies like bitcoin. A major number of older persons still find it difficult to use some social media apps, introducing them into bitcoin would be a hassle and they'll make lots of mistakes. The few of them in this market are tech savvy and understands the goal of bitcoin. Additionally, old people shouldn't go into a risky investment like bitcoin; life savings is what most of them got left after retirement. Throwing them in bitcoin is not a good decision. On the contrary, younger persons are in the era of bitcoin and digital currencies, so their numbers are expected to be higher than older people. And the young investors see many reasons to join bitcoin and understands them easily. However given a little time, the young people of today would be older and such disadvantages won't exist anymore.
2562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your wishes for BTC in coming years? on: January 04, 2023, 08:40:33 PM
My wish for bitcoin is for its ecosystem to have better, responsible people who would care for the long term existence of the network and reduce the high rate of scam. If the bitcoin network is used for good, we wouldn't have been under a bearish market like this one. In the future more people would love to adopt bitcoin, but if they read about the worst outcomes of bitcoin and come to experience it they won't have any purpose to utilize bitcoin again. I wish for a community with honest users that care for fellow citizens money. Greed is killing the bitcoin market which won't take it any far. Looking at how Kwon-Do crashed the market just for greed sake, I wouldn't wish that the bitcoin market experience such people on the long run.
2563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 04, 2023, 01:38:31 AM
So, if sports work for you, OP, no need to bother about others that enjoy playing and winning in slot games. Though sports betting is more popular than slot games, many players prefer to take responsibility for their wins or losses. Such responsibility can only happen in casino games, unlike sports games where I'll have to stake money on the mercy of a player or fighter. Additionally, waiting for the results is quite tiring, watching the match, trills and heavy heartbeats is unwelcoming to me, sports should just be entertainment. Casino games provide fast results, and wins or loss doesn't feel like a hassle anymore. I'd say the casino games are better, enjoyable, and saves time that's why I enjoy playing them.

Basically, everyone has the right to choose and like betting on casino games or sportsbook betting. Basically, both of them have their fans. in fact, it's not uncommon for gamblers to play both of these bets. Most importantly, you are comfortable with what you are doing.
IMO, I'm not in the capacity to compare which one is better. whether it's casino games, or sportsbook. in essence, I like both. I like to bet on football, I often play slots while waiting for the match to start immediately. so, nothing is better than both because I like both.

Playing both is not all that bad, it's encouraged and it's not like I'm against sports betting, just that I don't play it as often as I do on casino games. I'd just prefer watching a football game with a free mind. Your method is a better vehicle to kill boredom of wait-time. I thought it's rare to love both games until I read your response. To me focusing on one is quite productive, and I tend to make good predictions from time to time. Considering that sportbooks have got nice odds to win big even with an average amount, I'd look into it gradually, a bit better than before.
2564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 12:32:52 AM
Free alcoholic drinks, ease of withdrawal machines and ease of which to fund betting/gambling site wallets are serious contributory factors to addictive gambling.
Because no matter how much alcohol a man hard he will know when he reached the finish line and have exceeded his budget in a physical casinos since most of the bets are placed with cash.

I guess you don't take much of alcohol, the more tipsy you get the more you get excited to spend money for fun. The Casino tricked him, by not limiting his intake of alcohol, because they're earning more money from his drunkenness. Probably he'll continue losing money as he won't think of making the right decisions.

In comparison to live casinos, online casinos do not offer free drinks, but if one were to bet from the comfort of his/her zone, and had a fridge or cooler of chilled alcoholic drinks, it shouldn't be a yardstick to get drunk to the point of funding ones betting wallet all just to gamble at that instance of excitement. Also, if one can't get to control the amount of his/her alcoholic intake I don't think such a one can control the excitement that comes from gambling and shouldn't bet, make withdrawals or fund gambling wallets, while drunk.

What other factors do you know contribute to form addictive gambling?

However, playing an online casino with some drinks in the house for a person with strong self control doesn't change anything, for such a man in your story it won't be good for him, yet it's safe for him considering that he is already at home, unlike on a physical casino where he'll have to drive back home drunk. It's not advisable to drink while gambling because one can get carried away, I think after gambling and if it turns out well a gambler can then drink out of his profits.

Other contributors to excessive gambling are drug addiction, anxiety and depression. These are not good for the player and such a person is expected to be taken care of by loved ones to save his life from getting into debt.

2565  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: January 03, 2023, 11:55:16 PM

I'm still comfortable using the browser even though the view has to be enlarged again.
You may try the wap mode which is somehow giving better experience. Usually I do check this forum only from my office desktop. So, I never think about mobile versions. Probably for the people who travel on regular basis, mobile app must be too handy.

I prefer reading the forum on IPad, UI is friendly, the signatures and words appear boldly, and easy to read like on a laptop. Additionally, I spend more time reading the forum on my Ipad compared to my laptop. However, the forum is not user-friendly with phones with small screen resolutions, yet launching a mobile app to make it phone compatible will decrease post quality on the forum from the app users. Writing with a phone can cause multiple mistakes and may not be crosschecked on apps like Grammarly to enable an interesting read. Unless the app is created to be read-only; members can only read as guests, I won't prefer an app for the forum. Things to consider are if it'll be open source or closed source, the forum may now require some payments or donations to maintain the app, especially for core developers. I think the forum is unique, easy to navigate, and less cumbersome this way.
2566  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto Exchange Business on: January 03, 2023, 11:06:53 PM
My plan is to create an app like paypal for people to make online transactions with venders. The app would only host one main coin that I would like to create as a  safecoin for people to use as currency for the venders. The venders that would mainly use this would be marijuana dispensary's which arnt allowed bank accounts. This would provide digital storage of funds for vendors that are cash only at this point and also add the ease of online transactions. Im fairly new to crypto but ive formularized myself with how blockchains work and holding liquidity pools and expect to become proficient in everything crypto. from what ive gathered so far this project is posable all I need is some help with all the details.

First find out what blockchain dude does? and of course you should do your own research on this matter. Also, if what you want is similar to paypal, it means what you want is like E-wallet or E commerce.

The question is how do you do it? because even if you ask a question here in the forum, your strategy is still the one you will definitely follow. I guess you'll just get an idea about this matter in my opinion. But of course you still need a developer for this matter anyway and team too.

Yeah, I think OP is looking out to creating a cryptocurrency wallet between vendors and clients and such wallet won't be able to make payments to another cryptocurrency wallet except to a person that owns the wallet. Considering that paypal can't send money to another app except paypal. Since you are giving out the tip of the iceberg of the idea, It'll be difficult to conclude accurately what solution you need actually. From my perspective, to achieve such, you need a different network, I think you'll have to create the safecoin for it on a different network where users can only make peer to peer payment on the network and you'll be the exchange that'll help them get fiat using a bridge to send the coin to a regular network like blockchain that can enable you change it to fiat.
2567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Dev is not your friend, so be careful. on: January 03, 2023, 10:25:08 PM
A new project should have a community on telegram or discord where every trouble encountered by users can be found. When investing in new projects always reach out to other investors in the community who had a dispute, discuss with them to know their thoughts about the project, how their use case can benefit the cryptocurrency market in the future, and verify with them if their problems were resolved. If the project is a coin, I'd advise you not to purchase yet, unless you have some bucks to throw in after doing your diligence research.

Though recently, the cryptocurrency market is in trouble even real projects are not an exception to the attacks hackers launch every day in the market, as investors we are to capitalize on risks. A new project may not have enough security to secure its users or refund them if there get hacked and money is lost. However, it's a general barrier, some big projects escape with people's money without refunds after getting hacked, but new projects can easily go scot-free unlike established projects.

On the side of developers, many are here to make money, once their project starts attracting people, gradually they'll think of a way to rug pull and run an exit scam. Probably, they'll move ahead to create a fresh project and promote it with all they've made from their previous scam. That's why most time I wonder how fresh projects get to the top easily. Some get investor cool, but others are promoted with scam money. Hence developers are becoming lazy to create a unique web-based project, they're, most a times, going to launch another project that'll look similar to the previous ones. So, investors always watch out for projects that look quite similar; same idea, UI, and goal to scam projects. They're likely to be the same team in another coat.
2568  Other / Meta / Re: This forum will need explicit rules on the use of AI. on: January 03, 2023, 11:00:33 AM
How are you going to identify if the user is using AI in his posts?
I will not disclose any accurate source for my claim but there is actually no way to find that out if someone is using AI, since there are services out there for free making and editing your AI generated content in a way to avoid 99+% detection.
IMO anyone caught using AI generated content as their own should be banned, I wouldn't want to engage in a discussion where the other person is not really a person.

We want to engage and discuss with real people with their own real life achievements. Just as an example, I would like to read the posts of gmaxwell to know him better and more, just imagine if I wanted to follow him as a role-model and later find out or not to find out he was actually an AI behind the account.

What I don't like about this subject is the fact that AI could greatly influence us in the long term without us realizing it.

The same way you wouldn't like to communicate with a person that doesn't write correct grammar or keeps repeating phrases in their content is how AI writing works, users vary. If a person is skilled; knows how to utilize AI like chatGPT their response will be as good as that of a good writer. Additionally, the app can be asked to insert synonyms to a keyword to avoid repetitions. Also, every technology offers a new opportunity for users on the internet, in future skilled Chatgpt users can get hired to do a great writing job including editing.

Moreover, you are not communicating with a bot, as an AI doesn't have a brain it's controlled by humans, it just hurts that the next person is using a third-party app to communicate with you making it easier for him to write, while you chat genuinely with your brain. However, it's sad that AI is hitting hard on the internet, and mainly focusing the heat on writing communities, but in the long run, nothing can be done about it, imagine ChatGPT has over a million users within a short period. It's a technology that needs adoption, and writers don't seem to like the idea, as if it'll take their jobs from them, which is not true, contrarily it'll make their jobs easier.

In a forum like this, it'll be hard not to detect AI-generated contents if the user didn't amend it, but if the changes are correctly done Chatgbt can be said to be used for research purposes - easing the research process for a user. If he edits and publishes the thread, it's not completely AI-generated. You can say to be communicating with a bot if the user published the generated post without proofreading it. Moreover, those answers provided by chatGPT are generated from google, and plagiarism detection all depends on the user and the kind of query they gave to the bot. Like the moderator said; if the user is skilled with the use of AI that it doesn't break any rules then it is not a problem in any form.

I'd suggest that an AI detector is added to the forum to help users crosscheck if a thread is poorly generated by an AI, such a thread can be reported to mods pointing out how it broke a rule in the forum. It'll ease the stress for moderators and keep the community as clean as usual. Finally, what need is it to pay to write in the forum? soon these AI writing apps will get expensive to use regarding the speed people are signing up to utilize them.
2569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 03, 2023, 08:15:07 AM
Not everybody is keen to watch sports games or analyze them, and people lose out on sports betting when sentiments get attached. Staking for their clubs or player, if it's soccer, instead of watching closely who they think would win the game. For instance, the Saudi Arabia win over Argentina was a huge loss for a lot of gamblers because they believed Messi is on the Argentina side. Such mistakes don't happen while playing casino games like dice, baccarat, roulette, etc. It's 100 percent instinct and luck, which brings a high rate of joy when we win games.

Therefore, leaving no disappointments whatsoever on anybody when a bet fails, unlike sports where gamblers tend to blame a player for missing a penalty shoot which led to why they lost out a huge amount of money. I don't know much about sports betting yet I love sports. But if I were to place sports bets I'd go for boxing as it's not as complicated as football with so many players, and my interest in betting on football dropped, not completely, when I got to know that matches are being rigged.

2570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cashless Gambling, your thought? on: January 03, 2023, 07:11:20 AM
This won't affect only cash but electronic money like cryptocurrencies can get terminated too. So, the country seems to fight underage gambling and trace the way citizens place bets. Yet, the Government wants to make profits out of gambling, which is the reason they moved the bill to law real quick. The problem is having other country's Government to adopt such laws, if they realize the huge amount of money made out of the law. Moving forward, though it'll affect Casino owners by paying so much in tax, players will benefit from cash security. Winners on physical Casinos won't bother about theft when leaving the casino. However, the Government watching over every stake by citizens, bridges their privacy and doesn't sit right despite the benefits the law draws to players. On the other hand, I think hackers will be hired this time as they'll be many hacking attempts on casinos' payment systems to derive clients sensitive information, they may from time to time begin to experience what exchanges suffer from hackers.
2571  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Expectation for 2023 on: January 02, 2023, 10:28:18 PM
In cryptocurrency, expectations are different, and you would have pointed out the side your thread belongs to; bullish or bearish expectations. From your tone, you want the bullish run I guess, but for the next person, there are expecting a bear market to enable them to purchase bitcoin at a cheaper rate. Being well aware that the bull market will come again. Saying we should lower our expectations not to be disappointed, is an incomplete statement for cryptocurrency users having known that different entities are in the market for different reasons which include;

  • Taking profits to recover from losses such people have lots of expectations for the cryptocurrency market to go bullish and end up getting disappointed if it doesn't, which could mean that your article is referring to this group.
  • Full-time Hodlers they're people who won't sell bitcoin this year even though the expectancy of the first-named gets even, the market gets an all-time high, they have no reason to be disappointed.
  • Buying the dip Those that expect the market to go so low this year; buying bitcoin at a cheaper rate and waiting for the all-time high so that they'll cash out big.
  • Even they're people that keep buying low or high regardless of the conditions.

I think the expectations for the bitcoin market in 2023 are uncertain and not everybody has the same expectations for the market, we all differ and no need to bother about lowering or lifting our expectations about bitcoin this year. I expect bitcoin to continue striving, achieving its goal, and getting adopted by businesses and people alike. The goals of everyone will be achieved, whether a person wants profits or wishes to buy the dipper dip it's all good for the currency.
2572  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tips: encourage your customers to pay with bitcoin on: January 02, 2023, 08:57:25 PM
Why didn't you mention the Lightning Network? It's fast and cheap, so it must be one of the reasons for Bitcoin owners to get encouraged to pay with Bitcoin. So, it must also be offered.

But it all boils down to what's in it for them if they opt to pay in Bitcoin. You have to take note that the most hassle-free form of payment is still cash. Cash is still the king. So, the only reason for them to be really encouraged to pay in Bitcoin is a discount, a cashback, a ticket or qualification for a raffle, a coupon for something else, or anything that they get out of paying in Bitcoin, a kind of reward for choosing a different payment, something they aren't used to.

Lightening network is fast for merchants, but not all customers have a knowledge of configuring boltcards or NFC chips on cards to make a swift lightening payments through LNURLw. Though, I don't know the current progress of zero conf and RBF debate to better maintain a fast payment for buyers and sellers alike, yet I don't think customers should be encouraged in a way other than what OP said about creating awareness that bitcoin is accepted in the store. Moving an inch forward to lure them into bitcoin due to discount and all, could lead to unsatisfactory service if things go wrong on the clienteles end.

At the moment bitcoin owners should pay with bitcoin and fiat owners pay with cash, unless the person is interested in bitcoin they should ask about what's like. Therefore, giving discounts should be for all customers both fiat and bitcoin owners to make things look balanced; promoting your products and bitcoin at same time, not the other way round, people with fiat will be curious knowing why there are not getting a bonus on the store and jump into bitcoin without making prior research.

2573  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hackers steal $8 million from users running trojanized BitKeep apps on: January 02, 2023, 07:21:27 PM

What does it mean by “transactions not requiring verification” ? This is crazy, and as normal user or non technical person I’m not sure how to keep my funds secure if there are trojans like these which are able to extract the transactions just like that?

Wow, they are actually developing good trojans but it seems Wallet or App makers are not really making any progress with the security huh?

So how does it work, developers focus more on security breaching viruses rather than getting well paid jobs on the other side ?

The application is hijacked probably hacker had replaced the original file, so instead of downloading the official application, users downloaded the malwared version giving the hacker full control of the downloaded wallet's operation.

The file name was hijacked and a replica made out of the original. It's hard not to see loopholes on wallet apps, since it could be managed by greedy people; a person can betray the team and offer the main file name to the hackers.

I don't know where users download the virus-infected hijacked APK from?
If you aren't careful or trust random people on the internet, there are many ways to get infected and phished. Ask about good wallets or exchanges in crypto-related social media channels and groups and you will be bombarded with scam attempts and fake investment opportunities. Many people unfortunately don't realize how dangerous it is to trust such sources. Google isn't helping either with their negligence and willingness to advertise scams on top of search results if you pay them.

At first google was wary about cryptocurrency related adwords on their search engine, but such ads are now allowed, which is quite risky for users. Besides, most of these hackers and malicious app owners have authority websites that promotes their links too, which lure people to download their apps on app stores other than google play store. Moreover, android phones like huawei has its app store which seems to be less secured regarding the need of certificates before installing apps. On the other hand, some people are careless about all these requirements, and go ahead to confirm that they trust the app.

Quote
However, since the current attacks result from users getting scammed by trojanized APKs, it’s unlikely that there will be any refunds.

so since this is as a result of a careless company and uninformed users it's wrong to say that the affected users should be neglected with no refunds, it is suspicious.

Considering that the Company has taken this step to inform users about the hijack, what are their plans of stopping such a continuous attack on affected users, as the news may not get to everybody? The internet is not a place for the less informed, truly. Especially, on the cryptocurrency niche, a group of developers can conjoin and build a project, promote it, gain customers and feel reluctant about their safety. Exposing them to the wild world of hackers.
2574  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is there good wallet decentralized app ? on: January 02, 2023, 07:12:47 AM
This description is like asking for a wallet that can't be attacked in any form. However, Of course, it depends on the type of Card, there exist multiple cards that can be configured to pay in cryptocurrency like Boltcards that can be linked to LNbits to make LN payments. But, that will be on a more technical level. An app generally cannot be fully decentralized and secure, they must be bugs, that is why people suggest open source wallets that is decentralized.

However, if you are referring to a card like MasterCard, it won't make any sense regarding decentralization. It'll be wrong to initiate such features on a decentralized cryptocurrency wallet, it's more like exchanges. In addition the bolt-card above can only work on store that supports LN, not all stores can accept the card payment, which sound abstract from your tone. Seems like you're referring to linking to banks just like Paypal. Far from reality.

Cryptocurrency is a body that won't have anything to do with the bank or any centralized payment body. In cryptocurrency, Atm exists, everything a currency needs to excel can be found in cryptocurrency as it's open source, anybody can contribute. Unless the banks adopts cryptocurrency, reverse won't be possible; cryptocurrency can't adopt the banks.
2575  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Types Of Online Casinos To Avoid.. on: December 30, 2022, 09:35:59 AM
A casino with no provably fair policy is a red flag and players are not expected to use such online Casinos because their betting outcomes is fabricated in favor of the casino, and players tend to loss out massively too. Aside from this forum, Casinomeister is a good forum that reviews the authenticity of an online casino for players. We must avoid any Casino with poor customer representative, and slow to solve a critical problem like payout or withdrawal issues. So, if a casino has a track record of withholding people's money, then its a red flag for players; such Casino shouldn't be patronized.

I agree with you that we should be doing research online before choosing a new casino for us. Reading reviews in forums like bitcointalk is my go to source to determine if a casino is legit or not. Trusting in a forum where you can see the user who wrote about the casino is much better than trusting in any of the many review websites. For example, if a senior or hero member here on the forum has an issue with the casino than I would give that claim much more weight than from an anonymous review online. Checking the provably fair policy is a good start, also looking at the ToS is a good indication how sophisticated the new casino is. The main issue would be of course if there are problems with withdrawals, withholding money from the gamblers is a big red flag and leads me to avoid that casino.

Casinomeister is not just a review site, just like this forum, member on there have their responses on different Casinos. However, I'm skeptic about your response on Hero members or legendary members being a better source to trust than review sites, people differs and one complaint from a reputable member here doesn't make a casino bad. Unless such a dispute is confirmed true and took till the end of time to get resolved. Users can then change their choice. Besides these, it's important to note that these casinos are being operated by different bodies, and can be far from perfection despite the technologies, and man power used to run the business. In essence, what you said about review sites is right on one hand, but on the other hand, not all casino is announced or listed on this forum. So, in such a scenario, online casino reviews can be a strong tool to help players have an internal view of the casino before signing up and depositing money.
2576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 30, 2022, 08:19:53 AM
Nothing, other than; risks, money and mastering my instincts. Getting Addicted to gambling makes me cautious and to follow my instincts while playing games. It's always fun to win some bucks out of a spare cash kept aside for gambling. And slightly sad to lose out the money, and developing a wavering mind or regretting, which is always too late, over other better, beneficial activities the lost money would have gone into. So, my brain after experiencing such mind debates, knowing that I may win or lose money, Keeps going back to cash gambling after winning big on demo gambling. Especially. Additionally Gambling cools off my stress and helps me make a better decision on some real life activities that requires a gamble of thoughts or decision, what to do or not. I'd say that the positive aspect of gambling draws me closer to risk some money, as I learn out of it and always cautious not to delve into the negative repercussions of Gambling.

A.I contents is a restructure of the original article or content. If used in the forum can easily be detected by spam trackers. Unless the user only posts threads, but if used for responses, I don't think A.I uses synonyms, the A.I writer is required to copy someone's comment and shuffle the words to change the context. Before responding. When concretly read the reader can detect easily that they've read such information and trace back to the original response. A.I is mainly used by bloggers and it's not worth to be used on forums.

The ball is in your court, it's certain that the market will go bullish. If you are a hodler keep holding and don't focus completely on the market price. Get busy with other things that can fetch you more bitcoin or altcoins. Though from the negative news on cryptocurrency, the bear market will stay for a longer time, the right move is to accumulate more BTC.

It's a nice thing to share our seeds with spouse in some cases, but the risk differs from persons to persons. Since nobody knows each other's mind it's always thoughtful to share the funds and observe how they spend the Bitcoin. If my spouse proves to be economical with the bitcoin I sent to her, I won't get sceptical to share seeds with her, though the disadvantage comes with divorce.
