I'm more comfortable using bitcointalk using a desktop or laptop than a mobile phone device. I feel more like what I'm talking about here in the forum compared to the mobile device via browsing.

Why? don't you have a desktop or laptop? though, there is no problem if you use a mobile phone when you open bitcointalk. Oh, maybe you are referring to the Bitcointalk that can be downloaded from the play store or apps store because if you ask me, I don't think it's necessary. This browsing style is now better.

I also use bitcointalk on my laptop but that does not mean that it should not have an app. These days most of the popular sites have an mobile app and i wonder why bitcointalk have not thought on these things.

Yes, we can open any browser in mobile and login bitcointalk but still, there is a need for an app. An app is usually designed for mobile and it is actually optimized for mobile usage.

If ever there is any app for bitcointalk, i would more than happy to use it.

I would like a mobile version to be developed that is not light compared to the real forum, I say today the smartphones are very performing so I don't like that it is limited. Among other things, I recently opened the Italian board on telegram since now you can make forum groups and we are trying to get people to write here on bitcointalk.org we don't know if it will work but we try.

i'm comfortable with what i have to do now when i open the bitcointalk forum site so it makes mobile apps for BTT forums pretty useless imo.  apart from that there is no definite purpose for making the BTT application because  believe the majority of the members in this forum open the bitcointalk site with their PC or laptop.  my conclusion is that the bitcointalk application is not an innovation.

I agree with you, what I feel when using the Bitcointalk web on my mobile there are no problems whatsoever and maybe the developers have also simplified it so that the display that is given when using a smartphone I think is quite good and I can open it wherever I want to be and whenever I want without having to use a PC, so what makes that application must be made when the application functions only for that reason.

Well, reading bitcointalk from a mobile browser is not easy and you need to regularly zoom in to see what's written there.  I am ok with it because i only use to read bitcointalk seldomly on a mobile browser as i mainly use a laptop. A mobile app will solve this reading issue as it will be made keeping in view the small screen of the mobile phone and adjusting the font accordingly.

Also, writing post from mobile is more difficult and it becomes even more difficult if you want to quote different replies in a single
post.

If you open bitcointalk.org on a mobile browser, you have to zoom in because the display on your cellphone is a desktop display, so if you want it to be friendlier on Android, maybe you can use this method where you can adjust it to the font on Android so that it's even more comfortable.

I just checked that topic and learnt that is about firefox extension based and not exactly an app for mobile. I guess only theymos decides about mobile app version of this forum then we can get. Otherwise anyone can create unofficial version for "read only" purposes.

You may try the wap mode which is somehow giving better experience. Usually I do check this forum only from my office desktop. So, I never think about mobile versions. Probably for the people who travel on regular basis, mobile app must be too handy.

I prefer reading the forum on IPad, UI is friendly, the signatures and words appear boldly, and easy to read like on a laptop. Additionally, I spend more time reading the forum on my Ipad compared to my laptop. However, the forum is not user-friendly with phones with small screen resolutions, yet launching a mobile app to make it phone compatible will decrease post quality on the forum from the app users. Writing with a phone can cause multiple mistakes and may not be crosschecked on apps like Grammarly to enable an interesting read. Unless the app is created to be read-only; members can only read as guests, I won't prefer an app for the forum. Things to consider are if it'll be open source or closed source, the forum may now require some payments or donations to maintain the app, especially for core developers. I think the forum is unique, easy to navigate, and less cumbersome this way.

The wap mode is really inconvenient for me, it looks like an incomplete feature because it's in wap mode, but when I'm at home of course I prefer to be on the desktop to open forums and the mobile version when I'm traveling but I don't often post on my cellphone because it will makes me uncomfortable in writing words.

Next week I plan to buy an IPad, it looks practical after I saw several reviews about the IPad, the comfort is increasingly satisfied, especially the IPad can also use the keyboard, this will make it easier for me to open forums on the IPad.

I'm not sure that there is a mobile application for forums that can provide more convenience than a website because what I know is a unique forum is a website and it will be different from other forums, maybe you expect something new but it's not the main feature because it's like what you say requires reliable developers to be paid to operate the applications that are made, but I'm sure a mobile application is not a good idea for me.

If the app can contain the same look and feel that we get here, then I will support it surely. However, none of us are low on data that we need a web version of the forum, because this forum only allows images and no videos are allowed to be streamed here, which saves lots of data because even users here snip images to save more data on the forum as well as from their data pack.

From all clear indication i think most people don't buy the idea of using a mobile app including me, i'm actually pretty cool with this design and web version it is very simple smart and user friendly. Maybe you could change your browser or turn it to desktop view to get a very smart view of it using your phone. I believe with mobile app the platform would be too heavy and bulky to operate smoothly.

I see a lot of people saying that it is a bad idea, but what device is with people 24/7? ===> Answer : Their Mobile phone...  I personally think it is a great idea, if it is well executed. I have used different browsers on my Mobile phone and it is a frustrating experience with all of them.

Also, most young people do not even use computers anymore... but they are seldom more than a few yards from their phones. Why not just hire some good developers and just create something more user-friendly that are targeted at Mobile phones. 

When you are away from your home and work ....you still want a good experience visiting Bitcointalk.org... so why not have a App specifically for those instances?

Of course that's a good thing, but try to pay attention to what impact it can have that can damage the forum, with an application that people can easily access with their cellphones of course this is good because it will attract a lot of people to the forum but on the other hand this will cause the focus of discussion the forum becomes a mess because new people rarely read the forum rules so more administrators/managers have to be added to manage and supervise the forum.
However, mobile phones have limited features that make it difficult for readers and translators to understand certain languages meaning that it is not as complete as using the web instead of an application.
I think I'm still very comfortable with a web forum like this because not just anyone can access it and it's managed properly.

   - Honestly speaking, I've experienced logging in using a mobile phone via browsing several times and what I can say is that I'm not comfortable, because it's small and then I have to adjust the zoom just to read what's on the forum that I want to replay.

It's not like a desktop or laptop that has a big monitor and is quite comfortable for our eyes when we open an account here at bitcointalk. Then one, the mobile phone is prone to a virus because it is open to the public, this is only as far as I know. So for me, there is no need to have the Bitcointalk app on a mobile device.

If this app is put on the app store or playstore, we could be onboarding more members onto the forum which could indirectly benefit the crypto ecosystem but like any other big forum name out there... It's best to keep it as is.

Btw a web based app wouldn't be a bad idea as this wouldn't be any different from what we have here but having to build a app that needs a database and the alike would be big no as this would make it a target for possible data breaches.

Well, in short it is better to have bitcointalk mobile app, rather not having any app at all.

I understand that easiest and best way is to use it on your computer/ PC / Laptop, but we are not always in front of our computer. With mobile app, we can also stay in touch with bitcointalk on the mobile. Also, the browser on the mobile can fulfill the same purpose, but a app would be a better option.

Yes they'll be some members that won't use the app at all, which may keep the app on a sideline for phone users only. Some challenges will emerge; illicit developers may decide to create similar apps just to derail people searching for the forum. Though, it'll help the spread of bitcoin as it'll pop up when people search bitcoin on app stores yet the downside is quite bigger compared to the benefits. I'd urge you to get the Ipad as you said, you'd enjoy the forum, and users with lesser screen resolution phones can read the forum then communicate while on laptop. Truly it feels difficult to respond through phones, which may require a mobile app for the forum, but, then, the app may not be as responsive as the forum; it could lag, due to the numerous information on the forum.

I think that extension is pretty good though. You can edit on your own and you just have to switch to Firefox on your Android to use. It's better than running another app which probably gonna do the same thing but requires extra power. Considering the development of the new forum is still going on I'd never count on an official app release anytime soon. If they ever do it at all.

Have you ever tried to type in landscape mode? It's a pain even if your phone has a large screen. Sure you can browse just fine but you won't be able to post comfortably. But at the end of the day, most members probably use a PC/laptop so it is not really a priority.

I really like this idea, since especially younger users are more on their phone than on a computer.
If this app however wants to be an success, they should look at apps like reddit or twitter and not just make a stupid website in an app style application!
