Edit. BANNED

Can anyone find the source for this?

I can't believe a Newbie went to the trouble of writing this essay but I can't get anything other than the first paragraph in Google cache from a deleted post.

The twofold standard bodes well when you consider that the whole establishments of our fiat economy are reliant on the accomplishment of banks. Henceforth the expression "too huge to bomb; too enormous to imprison". They can make a case of Ross Ulbricht in light of the fact that the US economy won't crumple thus. In the event that the US bolted up each investor that accomplished something incorrectly and fined banks sums that were more proportionate to their violations, they'd successfully be shooting themselves in the foot head. It would be lethal if real banks went under, so they'll continue doing all that they can consider to keep that incident.

Bitcoin is obviously not the fundamental issue, but rather it encourages offenders to laundering cash easier.Bitcoin is in truth use for individuals and hoodlums to conceal cash from governments for some reasons. On the off chance that they needed to utilize US$ the washing is more troublesome. Utilizing Bitcoin the washing is considerably simpler in light of the fact that it can be esteem exchange between people, crosswise over worldwide outskirts, et cetera. Utilizing dollars is simpler to track and catch crooks.

Since bitcoin is ideal device for illegal tax avoidance its modest and exceptionally mysterious no one will exchange you in the event that you will utilize blenders and administration like that.

Clearly the principle reason is on account of bitcoin is way less demanding, less expensive and furthermore its harder to follow than utilizing keeping money framework. Eventhough you can followed the exchanges and the exchanges are recorded, you can never now who possesses it, somebody can have in excess of 100 deliver to flow and shroud exchanges amongst accounts and when you know which one is the correct address, the measure of cash inside as of now been exchanged to elsewhere.

Except if bitcoin is really a substitute for a current cash, the procedure of tax evasion will dependably be; The procedure of usdt-btc-usdt implies that there is dependably a need to go into the managing an account framework where tax evasion is presently entirely directed, and that all bitcoin exchanges on the Internet will leave a decent check. Conversely, the illegal tax avoidance of fine art is more dependable, quicker and more gainful than bitcoin, so regardless of whether somebody is utilizing bitcoin to launder cash, it is accepted to be exceptionally uncommon.

The twofold standard we are discussing isn't without a justifiable reason considering the way that bitcoin due to its decentralize nature can undoubtedly be use as an apparatuses for cash laundering. This is even aggravated more in light of the fact that no legislature have coordinate control of bitcoin and you know people with great influence we normally conflict with what they can't control. Government will dependably support the managing an account framework however it is the real instruments utilized for illegal tax avoidance since they are in coordinate control of the saving money framework through the different arrangements they built up which the keeping money segment executes.

All monetary standards are utilized for illegal tax avoidance regardless or how they are. Bitcoin is only one of the monetary forms and if bitcoin didn't exist there will in any case be individuals laundering cash. Individuals will dependably figure out how to launder cash despite the fact that I don't think it is anything but difficult to launder cash utilizing bitcoin since regardless you need to money out the cash eventually and still utilize banks,

This is on account of bitcoin is a decentralized cash not claimed by any banks or money related institutions. Its genuine that bitcoin is utilized for illicit activities.I believe that these monetary firms are financing media to direct an engendering against bitcoin as they experience the ill effects of bitcoin a ton and simply abuse the media for the advantage of their interests.

I found it best to completely avoid any of the established captcha providers.  Back when I used to run a phpBB, I had a little-known visual captcha called KittenAuth.  It basically gave you 9 pictures in a 3x3 grid and the default setting was to select only the kittens.  But you could change the pictures to something more thematically appropriate for your site.  I found that far more effective than any other captcha I've ever encountered.  Only human beings got through after that.

The safest bet is to make a totally proprietary one.  The more obscure, the better.

I don't how long ago this was but captcha solving has really moved on in just the last 4 or 5 months I've been involved with trying to fight bots. Something like that with a 3x3 grid they would just brute force like they do with reCAPTCHA. There's only a certain number of combinations and they have a powerful backend server just trying until it gets a token to pass to a worker bot.

Back to the matter in hand we already know that these spambots can log in, so they must already have the ability to solve reCAPTHCHA so asking them to do it again to post will not make any difference to them. They just need to add a couple of lines to their script.

The bottom line is if there is a financial incentive to do so someone will find a way to defeat any type of captcha.

@jackg All gambling sites have a high turnover of users and it is obvious that newer accounts are more likely to be active than older ones. Last week was exceptional however because we did get hit by a huge botnet.

Instead of nonsense reply, answer my question!

It is not nonsense to point out that I have already answered the question and you jumped into a conversation by quoting the first post of it and haven't considered the other information in the following replies.

You'll also notice that usually we sell and giveaway about 400 to 500 million tickets but last week was over 1 billion and this week 1.3 billion. Since we've reduced rewards for non-gamblers and restricted the Reward Point redemptions to try and stop the botnets they have switched to buying lottery tickets with their free-roll winnings.

It looks to me like those 8 accounts are likely part of large botnets. We're working on ways to stop them but in the meantime we have disabled the purchase of lottery tickets with free winnings.

We regularly ban botnets so they are new accounts each time. If you look back through the lottery past results you'll see the pattern recently since the botnets gave up on getting to minimum withdrawal and switched to playing the lottery.

usually the number of tickets winners have is covering a wide range. like from 400 tickets to 4 million. but this round it seems like the lucky number was around having 25k tickets. basically every 7 or if we want to stretch it a bit 8 including the first one had near that number of tickets ...

~

Lol, I checked the top 10 of lottery this week and nr 6 won 0.09 BTC with 50 tickets. My hart was pumping as I always buy 50 tickets every round, but I quickly found out that I am not the lucky one  Cheesy. Too bad, would like to win some day (like everybody else on here  Grin)

I like to win with my 200-500 tickets per week which I gain for free. that would feel a lot better Grin

They question is why 99% of winners are new users!
How many times we see old ID in winners? 2 out of 1000 times?

Try reading back what is in between the post you just quoted and this one. That is what we have been discussing.

I don't think I've joined many websites or forums before that didn't require email verification and if captchas are so pointless then why does pretty much every other forum use them? They have their benefits and will stop some bots at least.

I've been doing a lot of antibot work recently and I'm not saying it is pointless because you want to put as many obstacles in the way as possible. I'm just trying to reduce any expectation that either of these will make a difference. Email verification just requires them to run an email server and a script to create the email accounts at the same time as the forum account and then acknowledge the link sent. You can buy software to solve reCAPTCHA for less than $100 a year subscription and the botnets I deal with have written their own solvers.

In finance, an investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or will later be sold at a higher price for a profit.

There are a lot of really good suggestions here so I'm just going to prioritise what I think is most urgent and what will be the most effective in reducing the spam problem.

• Requiring manually whitelisting of all new accounts before they can post. All new users will essentially be shadowbanned until they've been verified by a mod. This will eliminate 99% of bots and spammers before they even start. Spam threads can be trashed on sight before they even become spam megathreads.

This is the only effective way to deal with bots. The other suggestions about captcha and email verification are trivial for botnets and won't even slow them down.

• Require at least one merit to become a Junior Member (bots will never rise past Newbie status then and can be nuked once spotted).

• Remove signatures completely from lower ranks (at least Juniors). Purchasing a Copper Membership (or higher) could still get you one.

Whichever combination of this is implemented doesn't really matter but until members require at least 1 merit to get a signature there will be spambots by the thousand getting paid in shitcoins/tokens. The same requirement to be immune from the nuke button makes sense as well.

• Dedicated sub board mods for most boards that don't have any mods or non-global mods already assigned (Bitcoin Discussion, Beginners & Help, Off Topic etc).
• More patrollers/mods who just handle sig spam or farmers.
• More admins or demi-admins added to help with account recoveries and other admin duties.

All of these are desperately needed at the moment although implementing the first two suggestions may actually reduce the need.

Multi-threading but applied on which part of the system? On the server level, we have load balancers and what not. Doubt if anyone actually writes multi-threading code to handle concurrent requests as most of it is done by the hosting services.

It was a light hearted response to Jet Cash's obviously less than serious post.

Hardware fault at the hosting facility is unlikely to happen. Even if it does, they have back-up servers. The rookiest way to go about it is to do
Code:
sudo service mysql restart
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From a lot of experience in this, I can say that however resilient you make your system, on occasion outages can and will still occur.

Edit: theymos in with the answer while I was typing.

I'm surprised the server has any time to handle the processing of new posts. It has to give priority to the registration of bots, merit analysis calculations, and members searching for decent posts.

Damn lucky someone invented multithreading  Wink

I'd guess either a DDoS attack targeting a particular database function or a hardware fault at the hosting facility. Hopefully, admins will be able to resolve soon.
2592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you stop calling Bitcoin an investment? on: August 15, 2018, 06:59:35 AM
If Bitcoin had a fixed value the majority wouldn't use it as their investment nor as a currency. Bitcoin could be used for the main reasons it was created for. People in need of an alternate currency for cross-border payments, free from any authority. Unbanking all of us to get a total control over our money. The idea of a cryptocurrency originated from anarchists.

And considering Bitcoin as an investment, sorry but there are better investments with your bank and much fewer risks.
I would rather prefer to earn a 6% per annum than to lose 400% in  2 months.

If Bitcoin was just intended to be a payment system why did Satoshi not just create something like Tether?

I posted in a discussion on this theme recently:

[Discussion]How to decentralize the price of the bitcoin? Self-moderated.

It is my opinion that the decentralisation of money creation and supply is more important to Bitcoin than just being a trustless Visa or Paypal.

PS. This is an interesting subject but it is really difficult to discuss with all this signature spam. It is time to make all threads in Bitcoin Discussion self-moderated.

Yea, it was strange to see lots of winners with 25k tickets entered into the Lottery this week.  http://prntscr.com/ki367e
indeed, I noticed that too. it seems like an organized bot behavior buying/collecting ~25k tickets
though I'm curious on the method that they use, did they actually make deposit and play multiple btc?
by my calculation, on a 4x reward weekend, each account needs to wager minimum 0.025 BTC
that gives 5k tickets and 20k RP, then convert RP to ticket for total 25k tickets
or spent 25k satoshi to buy tickets? or used RP for lottery ticket boost on claiming free rolls?

They were not playing dice at all just free-rolls and buying lotto tickets with all the winnings. They organise the bots so that they are referred to other bots but they don't make each network very big so it is difficult for us to find. To get 25k tickets in a week just from free-rolls and referral on free-rolls takes about 10 referrals.

@BTCevo I thought I asked you to stop signature spamming this thread.

2596  Other / Meta / Re: Allowing Mods to Delete Scam Threads (Marketplace) on: August 14, 2018, 04:27:05 PM
I understand your point of view but there are alternatives that won't give such a perception. For example, general rules that don't allow new members to lock new topics in the marketplace sub. I'm just trying to brainstorm here with idea that work for all.
The marketplace needs a big tidy up IMO and I thought that this would be a good place to start.

Not being able to lock topics or make them self-moderated has been suggested many times and I don't really know why that hasn't happened.

if I connect 2fa, I will need to confirm WITHDRAW by mail?

No, 2FA replaces the withdraw email confirmation. I strongly recommend 2FA as it secures your account in the event that your email is hacked. The only email confirmation you will need is to enable the 2FA in the first place.

Great, but I mean buying lottery tickets (claiming every hour included) except Hi-Lo, just lottery tickets will it increases then. Just want to know because i saw a (i) mark right next to minimum prize and was curious to know.

It could do but the calculation is individual to your account history (how much free money we've already given you is also part of that calculation) so I can't say it definitely will.
2599  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: August 14, 2018, 01:03:48 PM
If i only buy lottery tickets, will my minimum prize increases? Yesterday it was 11 and today it's 12.

That's more likely the exchange rate. The base prize is fixed in USD terms and BTC is having a bad day.

Buying lottery tickets, playing Hi-Lo and keeping a higher balance are all positives in the calculation towards full reward (currently 33 sats).

I'd be interested to know who you're talking about here.  I don't dispute that this has happened, because in my time on the forum I've seen members kicked off DT for all sorts of shenanigans.  Quickseller, Master-P, and TECSHARE are two that immediately come to mind, but there are more.  aTriz wasn't on DT, but he was probably close to getting on it and he was a good campaign manager who ruined his reputation by not calling out a scam soon enough.  I'm curious as to who you are referring to, however.

I got aTriz showing as being on DT2 (I temporarily disabled my custom list)

When you see the minus figure on the DT list it doesn't mean that they were previously positive. The (-2) just means that 2 members of DT1 have put an exclusion in place. That could just be a pre-emptive action to stop someone else adding them. AFAIK there is no historical record of who was on DT.
