2581  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A New way to scam People || Be aware and don't fall for it. on: February 24, 2023, 12:50:20 AM
Very old method not new
I remember igot such emails about 4 years ago.not sure about the email you got but some use some softwarw to edit the sender email to look the same as your emailso they say check the sender email i logged in tosend this email ect..
4years ago and only got to learn of this, this year wow, surprisingly these scammers are still at it with these tricks and how they pick their victims is a mystery... Maybe compromised email addresses on the darkw*b Huh

Btw early this month a gaming buddy of mine received a very similar email, and thinking it was one of those pranks never took them seriously not until he got signed out of his PSN account, received some spam emails and was only saved from further damage thanks to 2fa and changed all his passwords... Mahn people are out there data mining  Tongue but still, how do they pick their victims, thought my buddy with his habit of game sharing was the cause of this...

As much as I want to agree with the OP it really depends on who you ask... If you are going to ask a government person they certainly will frown over crypto because this is an asset that the government has no control of, and users can use it however the like.

In other circles, if you are to ask sellers when it comes to incorporating btc as a mode of payment, they would actually prefer it as it's not prone to chargeback scams which protects the sellers money but buyers will of course not like it as it's irreversible...

So like I said, these pros and cons all depend on who you ask Smiley
2584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: February 23, 2023, 07:23:45 PM
Manchester City couldn't stick to the plan very well last night honestly. They should have done much better than this.Especially the second half was very bad for Manchester City.
This was not the first time Manchester city has buried their heads in the sand and gone to sleep... If you watched the Nottingham game in the EPL the did the very same thing switching off in the second half allowing their opponents to comeback for an equalizer, with such inconsistencies in performance this could be a sign something is wrong or they got the news of what's to happen with their cases in England which has negatively affected them.

I still think Manchester City will win comfortably in Etihad and finish the job though.
If they come focused on the, City should carry the day easily!

Talking of Manchester, we are a few minutes of a return leg for the Red devils as they seek to finish what the started against Barca and this wont be an easy one but I fancy them winning tonight...maybe with a 2-1 scoreline.
2585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will happen once Hong Kong legalizes bitcoin? on: February 23, 2023, 04:37:47 PM
For a country that is well exposed to technology...

I think bitcoin will fit in well into people's daily lives, and should see a price bump going upwards once this news is made official...

By the way, this is the kind of news that's also influences other countries to get onboard and let the citizens to enjoy the same kind of financial freedom as the new tech adopters, and probably get help on how to regulate these digital currencies.. being a new territory for most.

2587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gamers beware: miners are now painting GPU memory on: February 23, 2023, 02:49:33 PM
Recycling old memory chips has been a trade for China's brands for a while. Not just GPU memory but also others like RAM, and NAND flash memory,...
With the massive semi conductor chip shortage such business practices are expected and not ending any time soon , but not were such is done and sold as brand new instead of refurbished is dishonest trading, probably stealing to a large extent!

You may not know, but some China NVMe SSD also uses shitty or low-yield NAND or even recycled NAND from used SSDs. The same for some questionable Chinese RAM brands like Kingfast or Kingspec (copycat of Kingston name).
Dead VGA cards with untouched VRAM could still fetch a good price even if it not working or are completely dead (ten bucks for RX 470/570 model with 8GB last I check).
Several youtube computer geeks like "linus tech tips "have done speed tests and teardown to see what these GPUs, SSDs are made of and what you said was true as they are mostly knockoffs with a 50/50 chance of working .

To be honest, it was very eco to make use of everything even the old and busted memory of all kinds. Still, advertising it as a brand-new product is dishonest. My advice: don't take anything from China's market at the face value, check reviews from many other customers or broke-down, disassemble reviews like OP mentioned.
People who are privileged to know this information know what to look out for, but who will tell & protect the first time buyers with no knowledge of these refurbishing practices of chip's and what not...
2588  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX Japan resumes fiat and crypto withdrawals today on: February 23, 2023, 03:39:16 AM
Again, this is not FTX doing something positive. This is Japan doing something positive, for the safety and security of its crypto users.
Wait a second, you make it sound like FTX Japan was state owned to have a hand in this latest development that has benefited Ftx clients. .. I understand they might have been regulated there, but are they state run?? And if the state had a hand in all this are business in Japan free to run a business there way  Cry

Japan has regulatory mechanisms that protect its citizens from the dangers and risks involved with the likes of FTX.
Am now interested to learn more of how crypto businesses survive, and from the sound of this, did you just describe an authoritarian govt Roll Eyes of which I believe Japan isn't...

The customers should be aware of this, lest they might indeed "write off all the wrongs done by FTX." But there are no dots to connect. This opening of withdrawal was already planned and scheduled as early as December of last year. And no thanks to FTX or SBF. Credits go to Japanese regulators.
But FTX isn't only in Japan are you also saying other branches of the company are doing the same of allowing clients to withdraw their aledged lost funds.
2589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FIX THE MONEY - FIX THE WORLD #Bitcoin on: February 22, 2023, 08:12:12 PM
I was really interested to read what the thread had on Twitter only to find the guys behind "FIX THE MONEY - FIX THE WORLD" were simply doing some marketing Roll Eyes, but either way, the message is loud and clear!

Btw, if the world was to be fixed using money bitcoin, the real winner here would actually be bitcoin itself...

think about the demand that will storm in and push price up, but of course, this will never be a walk in the park, politicians will always stand in the way of such a noble cause to protect their interests because they know they are the guys behind corruption, kickbacks you name it and allowing bitcoin free entry means cutting their dirty deals out...this is going to war afaik.

And debt is also one tool used as a way to control other entities/counties in need of financial assistance and if they fail to pay back get to pay a thousandfold and the citizens are the victims in the end after the carelessness of a politician.

Only 6 people got 2/2 so far last night. I saw that many of us went for Real Madrid pick, but not many of us chose to go for over 2.5 goals. All recent games between these 2 weren't like yesterday at all.

And of course Napoli, I thought that was the easiest answer of all the quiz so far even though the match reports seem to say it was not easy at all.

Come on Barca!!

Napoli question was really a no brainer for me, but I see a lot of answers that you guys got wrong. I don't follow Napoli but I checked their past results and that's why I'm surprised with so many chose them not to win the game.
For me, the head to head suggested that the Germany team was not going to lose that match come what may, but I guess Napoli got the memo & was in to turn history around Tongue
2591  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX Japan resumes fiat and crypto withdrawals today on: February 22, 2023, 02:26:00 PM
At least they get to do something positive after their unexpected disruption of service.

But looking at how things have turned out, could this move also get their customers to write off all the wrongs done by FTX Huh Because if you connect the dots this kind of looks calculated and they waited for the dust to settle before they emerged trying to look like heros  Tongue

They must then confirm the balance on their FTX Japan account.
Great news for all FTX customers  Cool

But what happens if you can't recall how much is sitting in your account after this long wait to have access to your coins Huh

Quote
“In addition, when resuming the withdrawal and delivery service, it may take some time for our company to process due to the concentration of requests from a large number of customers. Thank you for your understanding. We will inform you about the resumption of other services of FTX Japan at a later time.”
You can't dictate rules when you are owing people... And the panic from the clients is their doing because they do not know when next this withdraw opening will come, better to get it done once and for all for one's peace of mind!

2593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: February 21, 2023, 09:09:18 PM
It seems these teams never learn from history when it comes to playing Real Madrid, how the @%@&k does Liverpool lose an early 2 goal lead against the most decorated team in the Champions League...did they think they had done enough to elimate Madrid Huh

Before I forget, whats happening with our two experienced goalkeepers making schoolboy mistakes... whose two goals weren't suppose to happen by a longshot!!

2nd half is underway and I expect Real Madrid to now come in full force and fix their mistakes to show these boys who are the kings of the Champions League.

@Jeremypwr Question 6 you only gave 3 answers instead of the 4 required....you would want to add 1 more  Wink.

6. "Name the teams from these matchups that will progress to the next round of the Europa League: Roma – Salzburg, Midtylland – Sporting, Nantes – Juventus, Union – Ajax. This is a H2H question, the person that gets more correct wins."

That NBA all-stars question of everyone to score looked easy....

So from all the 359 points scored, De'Aaron Fox is the only player that failed to get a single basket in the 9 minutes played  Tongue No wonder team Lebron lost  Grin

2598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where Do Lost Assets or Coins Go? on: February 21, 2023, 02:33:49 PM
Where do lost assets or coins go? Whenever I try to make cryptocurrency transactions on any of the platforms, there is always a prompt before and even after I have imputed the address to double-check and ensure that the network matches the withdrawal or deposit address and that the platform supports it, as failure to do so may result in the loss of your coin.
Where do lost assets or coins go? And can they ever be recovered? Has anyone had an experience with this?
Well you and me know very well that the thge coins will be sitting on that wallet, but to avoid confusion or being credited with the wrong amount I believe the system works better with specialization in only picking one coin type at a time.

I also think they say you will lose your coins because it's too much work if you look at all generated addresses in their system, and also very few people are given special access to these private keys as a control to prevent theft by servant and you don't want tempting people... Trust no one.

Edit: A suggestion would be if these platform can  be programmed such at once you input an address the network can be automatically detected. Can't this be done as well? Is there a downside to this?
Image source: A screenshot from my Binance app
Technically it can be done programed this way, but I think these guys actually use different addresses for different assets as a safe guard incase a private key is compromised.. instead of losing all coins on that chain only a small proportion will be lost, think of it as them spreading their risk.

2599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there age limits to Bitcoin investment? on: February 21, 2023, 02:12:11 PM
No such thing as age restrictions with crypto investments, if anything the best investment for the young ones comes from the parents as the value of the coins could grow with them and be considered as the best inheritance wealth in the 21st century .

But in cases were a minor wants to buy these crypto assets themselves, this could be subjected to age restrictions because of some outlined regulations these businesses need to follow, and also minors are considered unfit to make sound judgement themselves and as a business you don't want such backfiring on you.

2600  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-12-16] Germany calls for global regulation of the cryptospace on: February 21, 2023, 05:25:26 AM
I don't see it.  If various nation states can't agree amongst themselves on how to regulate other issues like drugs, abortion, euthanasia, gun controls or any other 'political football' you care to name,
Unfortunately all these mentioned topics boarder around the politics of an individual country and what it's citizens believe is good for them...and the fact that we all have different beliefs and cultures as a people we can never agree on these topics....

how will they ever agree on how to regulate crypto?
Unlike the guns, drugs etc crypto does not boarder much on the politics as it exists in no man's land though we pretend this beast can be tamed.

Quote
Particularly considering how they generally understand far less about our ecosystem than they do those other topics.  They won't find any unified agreement, because they'll all be trying to pursue their own agendas, just as they always do.
I suppose this task can't be left to the politicians alone for obvious reasons , it would need players that understand the technology already, talk about the miners, exchanges, crypto influencers, law agencies etc its a longshot but still cryptos success could require regulation to give it a backbone.

In the US alone, even the individual states can't agree on what regulation should look like.  So anything global sounds a little far-fetched in my mind.
Maybe global is far fetched, but a benchmark for a start should do.
