It was funny to see all that cautious selling below $6.5. Now they'll have to buy back!
One thing I've learned over the past year, you pretty much always get a chance to buy back below your sell point. If I had sold below $6.5 I wouldn't be worried at all right now.

do you all have any reason being bearish?
The RSI is one reason.

Wow, we made Forbes! Never expected that to happen!
Happens all the time. Matonis frequently posts articles on Forbes online. Last year there was an article in Forbe's print magazine. It was a nice article, IIRC. Pretty sure he meant "we" as in "torwallet" specifically, not Bitcoin in general But yeah, last year's Bitcoin article in Forbes was pretty nice as I recall. Derp. I didn't look at his name.

I think the market is primed for another cool down period of at least a month before it moves up again, and I do think the price will go below $6.

ok so the address it's traceable. but trace to what? no isp no psychical address
That's the thing. Transactions are always traceable. They can be traceable to real world identities and sometimes they cannot be traceable to real world identities, and whether some transactions are traceable or not can depend on whether a person making a transaction wants them to be. Do you even have that choice with the traditional banking system?
|
|
|
I mean, that's really all there is to it. It's backed by a sufficient number of people believing that it has value.
|
|
|
So, let's do an experiment. Here's a transaction that I just randomly picked to Wikileak's public address as you posted it above. And here's the request: Identify the person who made that transaction. GO! that's ridiculous, I do not have a backdoor access to all credit card/bank transactions, all gmail emails, etc like the US agencies do (and thousands of other things I can't think of) and the context is wikileaks, not me who is wikileaks' enemy? the USA. is it easy for them to 'track back to you'? hell yes But you can make bitcoin donations to wikileaks without using credit cards, bank transactions, or traceable email accounts.

Don't forget, there was a $40k wall which sparked the rally out of $5, and enormous walls have been going up and down since -- this isn't organic.
LOL. I dont have that much money, therefor it is not organic... Okay, I guess a tiny group of people people placing $40-100k walls around is "the free market at work." Surely their intent is to do nothing but discover the current value of Bitcoin, and all will be most efficient. ETA: Not to say I'm not bullish short-term. Okay, so its not a 'free market at work' because there happen to be only one or a few high net worth individuals participating? Interesting definition... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_marketA free market is not necessarily a fair market. Adam Smith had some recommendations for the fair and sustainable operation of markets, including regulation against collusion and monopolies. Yeah—we are not doing that successfully. A free market in reality isn't really free (as in anything goes kind of free), but rather it's a market regulated by strictly market consumers therefor it's up to the consumers what kind of a market a "free" market really is. Actually, not everyone gets to choose which markets they participate in. The situation we have is that very wealthy participants get to choose between all markets, and they collude to exclude most people from participating in all the same markets they do. This gives them more leverage in the 'retail' markets compared to the average market participant. In short, consumers get what they are handed. They get to participate 'freely' in a small subset of markets... +1

Bitoins are highly traceable and coming from wikileaks, nothing less. So, let's do an experiment. Here's a transaction that I just randomly picked to Wikileak's public address as you posted it above. And here's the request: Identify the person who made that transaction. GO!

You first. Yeah, Im all in already. Just waitin for you! I've been all in for a few months now, and over the past few weeks I've been buying modest sums fairly regularly on the exchanges. 20BTC here, 40BTC there. I'll probably pick up another 40-50 or so this week sometime.

Thank you, I missed that. Did you send along any info to identify yourself or did he give you a claim status based on the email you sent the request from?
I sent it from email that belonged to my account and gave the login I used on bitcoinica. Thanks.

There aren't enough hours in the day to give a meaningful response to the emails sent to verify@bitcoinica.comWe do however use the information sent to it when checking a claim Any and all information you have should be sent there, but hold off on MtGox codes for now as we are working with them to get that information (with the users consent of course). Ok. I thought I had read that we could request our claim status through that email, and so I had sent a couple request but hadn't heard anything; and now it sounds like we won't get responses through that address. Is that right? Is there any way to check on our status? Genjix offered you can write to his own address ( genjix@riseup.net) for claim status. I did and got answer the next day I think. Thank you, I missed that. Did you send along any info to identify yourself or did he give you a claim status based on the email you sent the request from?

I guess many customers have sent in their MtGox codes that they claim have been used to fund their Bitcoinica account.
ZT / genjix / bitcoinica consultancy: I have offered to do this, but received no reply. Is it advisable to do so? I did this too, but haven't heard anything in response.

Yes. The rally is over. Everyone can relax for a few months. Well, relax after you sell your bitcoins because you're worried the price will go lower. Ammiright?

OMG sell sell sell! Greece voted *for* the Euro at last today. Haha, just as I doubt Greece's situation had much to do with the rise, I doubt it has much to do with the selling going on now. This is just profit taking and attempts to sell and buy more back later, and I think it's going to keep the price in check for a while.
