wow. i literally smacked my fucking head on that one.

a retarded phrase i'll never be using.

WTF is a hodler

Do you mean Holder?

Huy guys !

3 quick questions for all you master of GPU mining.

1- I got some GTX 1070 on the way, i will be mining Zcash and other coin. What's the avg best Mod for those kind of cards ?

2- I have a rig on Win 10 using the august blockchain driver, works fine with the 4xx series but for the 5xx serie the voltage mod doesn't work and i'm pumping way too much watt for nothing. I red about installing Afterburner version whatever Beta 16 to manually set the voltage but I would prefer to use another driver that will take the Claymore command.
Any of you use another driver for your RX580 ?

3- I will be using Simple mining for my next farm. Does Simple mining have the issue that I have with win 10 ? (Guess not but who knows Tongue)

Thanks guys

Herb

No mods on the nvidia cards.

If you use simplemining

Try:
. Core +120
Mem   + 550
Watts. 105

Thanks !

Do i need to lower the power also ? TDP something like it ?

Settings he sent you are for SMOS or Hive OS

You are lowering the power - see "Watts. 105" which is limiting your GPU to pulling 105 watts - which is the equiv of TDP Limit one windows w/Afterburner

how much a month for that space

2k/mo - I'm paying roughly 2k/mo for residential electric so saving 1k in electric off the bat, 1k overheard for the space essentially just makes sense.

What's your electricity cost per kwh and size of the unit?

0.10/kw 1500ft2 not the greatest in the US but for LA it's the best I can do.

Residential I'm on SoCal Edison which is tiered and tier 3 is 0.32/kw - outrageous.

Just got a text from a friend to rent out 1/2 the space for storage so I'm down to 750ft, so the space is now paying for itself from the electric savings Smiley Told him it'll be month to month so depending on expansion his stuff will have to go as I need room Smiley

Still expanding all the way. I am flying to my farm with 54 more 1070ti. Probably getting another 50 after setting up. Holding equal value in coins and rigs. With the recent rise in eth I have a surplus of coins waiting to be converted to rigs. Maybe I'll stop expansion 2 months before volta.

However I am not the biggest fan of dagger hashimoto (eth) mining because of potential POS switch and big farms are mining it. Unlikely eth will become more profitable than shitcoins and small cap coins that nvidia does well at. I just buy hold eth instead.  I have enough 1080ti to hash small caps, now getting some equihash optimized cards (1070ti).

For 13 gpu rig, 570 4gb and 1060 3gb has the fastest payback period. I'm not sure if it's possible to run 13x vega yet.

I made a big call today - sold 90% of coins and bought more GPU's.

Right now I'm 'even' cash wise with $20k in equip.

I hear this logic , but those big farms will all switch equihash anyways when POS happens , might as well get the cheapest cards.

two 570s can do the work of 1 1070ti for a lower price
$225 per card

never understood why people buy cards that cost near $600

Nvidia is a lot less work with half to a third of rigs to manage using 1070ti/1080ti. With ccminer it is very easy to mine small caps too. It's also more efficient, more hash power within the same electricity limit. Only 40KW to use per shoplot I rent, maximising hash per shoplot is best with nvidia.

With limited time to manage it's better for me to optimize for 1 type of cards. If I have Polaris + Vega + Nvidia it's triple the effort to optimize. I sold most my vega cards and will be selling the remainder soon. The few polaris cards I have are going to perma mine ETH for hodling. This way I will focus fully on nvidia and coin switching for them.

However I can understand the appeal of polaris. A large farm with employees or a person with a lot of time will make more money with polaris.

I switched to nvidia more hash per watt more hash per mobo.

Zec will go over 1000 by spring , btc may drop and stay at the 17000 level and bcc will rise.

I am just about capped for the garage at 20 amps. I can do. 25 to 26 amps in the winter .

If heat isn't a huge issue you could always just throw a sub panel in Phil - it's what I had my electrician do, I had him install 3 30A breakers in my garage to run my personal miners, going back I would have done 220 instead of 110 but it worked out so no biggie.

Good news is FINALLY got the keys to the new warehouse so expansion and build out can begin! I believe it's a 300A 220v but I didn't see much, there was no power in there we just did a quick walk through so will be setting up electric and scheduling internet in the morning. Most likely will be mining off wifi since power should be up a few weeks before internet.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are 1070 TI's the next best GPU for mining? 4.7 sols per watt on: December 19, 2017, 05:08:07 AM
Only have 1 rig on it - using it for a week now, it's not bad at all.

At the end of the day though I'm going back to windows. I see absolutely no reason to change - I have zero rig stability issues w/windows and now that ethmonitoring and minerstat offer bulk config/wallet updates windows just gives me much more flexibility that linux so that's that.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are 1070 TI's the next best GPU for mining? 4.7 sols per watt on: December 19, 2017, 04:24:12 AM
Zotac Mini in the 1070ti or 1080 models (I don't have their 1070 mini and I have severe worry issues about cooling on the 1080 ti model) both work quite well - but I have no idea if the fans are ball-bearing so I'm not buying any more.

1080 is a little marginal on cooling if you push it but better than the blower-type cards by a nose, I've never pushed the 1070 ti version but it should be a tossup on cooling with the 1080 model given the identical TDP.

I just saw a VoskCoin video where his 6 * Zotac 1080 mini manage 3,000 sols (500 sols each). Does this seem a bit low compared to a 1070ti?

DSTM makes a big difference in pushing these numbers further

Speaking of my latest 1070 TI must have different memory than the one I had to sample because my latest batch is not performing as well

currently have it at 200 core 700 mem and 120 watts on DSTM pushing about 4 sols per watt

Hey mate any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've put 200 core 700 mem 120 watts on all 3 my Gagabyte 1070 TI's on SMOS but all three are hovering around 450 sols only?

I believe the 450 range is what they run out with stock settings. When I first started using SMOS a week ago it was almost like the OC settings I was putting in were not taking, then all of a sudden they started working. I was stuck around 440-450. Then I did a reboot for the who knows what time and it jumped to the 500-510 range on 200/750 if I'm not mistaken.

Personally I'm going to moving away from SMOS as I've had nothing but issues with little help on solving them. Just haven't researched nvOC enough to be comfortable with it. Currently I'm mining just fine with the SMOS installed however it says my rig is offline through their dashboard, which is cool, cause I'm just using their os without paying their fee right now since I cannot get much help from the dev.

I tried Hive it's got a lot of great features and the dev is actual much more responsive that smos' - wifi and new miner support is important, and new miner support on smos is nearly non existent. I've been waiting for Alexis78 for almost a year to no avail.

Phil - I'm really loving the hybrids and just ordered 5 of the new 12 PCIe boards from letine - just really curious how you're going to mount those pesky damn heat sinks - that seems to be my biggest drawback for these, other than that I LOVE the hybrids, solid cooling for sure!

If I mount the 8 in the slots, there will be 8 sinks above those cards, so don't know how I'm going to put the other 4 AND their sinks in.

Right now I just have them jerry rigged on a new tier above them, but if I go with these new 12 card boards, well... guess I'll be able to workshop that issue when they arrive. It's going to be interesting for sure.

But that's what makes rigs fun IMO. I really love tinkering with these things.

spotswood  has a good  setup rack

i posted 2 videos

Yes saw the 2 vids - coming along nicely.

I just don't think it will do the 12 cards.

Visualizing it, it will do the 8 onboard cards, and the radiators will be mounted above those 8 cards on his expensive extra tier, but then I have slots for 4 more cards that need to go where the radiators are, so it won't work.

And not crapping on spotwood, but for $200 for that case you said it took over an hour to build, for $200 that thing better build itself.

The cost of the frame in Phil's videos was $135.

Not sure if it took Phil an hour to build just the frame or the frame and the rig.

With another pair of fan/radiator mounting beams (+$15) you could easily mount another 4x radiators along the top of the frame.

-Rich

Frame and rig  and a learning curve.  I could do it all in under 45 minutes counting the usb 3.0 stick from simple mining.

I have the extra mounting beam in the wrong spot in those video's.

My bad I will be stacking and doing it correctly over the next few days.

No worries Phil you're doing an awesome job - I'm just trying to workshop mounting solutions -

5 Hybrids/ 1 SC2
2 Hybrids on the board slots with 2 radiators on the first shelf - 3 hybrids 2nd shelf and 1 SC2
3 Radiators on the 3rd shelf

It's not pretty but it's in my bedroom test space -

And actually I'm on my way out the door right now to check out the new warehouse I'm moving into! Super excited since the leaser has been delaying this almost 3 weeks.

you guys need to check out ethmonitoring/ethcontrol Smiley

https://ethmonitoring.com

I think the price on ethcontrol is excessive ($2 per rig per month), but if you just run ethmonitoring it's free and it's a pretty good tool.

Author also responds well to polite feedback and is definitely active.

I agree it's definitely too expensive but it is a neat little tool to batch update the farms.

But again, at $2 per rig/mo... way too pricey

Ah I see - I thought it was the dual case  + the gpu rack.

The new b250 boards do 8 onboard and 4 via riser, so would need the extra gpu tier + the extra mounting beams. Still don't see it working though I don't think the cables will be long enough but I won't know till I get the board.

Can we get the latest version of dstm?

As history with smos will tell you - probably not for a long while.

Adding important shit is too slow for me.

A year later still no Alexis78

I got 2 miner crashes that needed to be manually restarted.

Also I call bullshit on the algo switching, I made less with the multi algo switching that mining straight lyrarev2.

I did a full 24 hour test run and calculated the BTC per Mh/s -

Sniffdog was only .005 mBTC/Mh/s which came out to .0021 BTC for 400 MH/s - now according to the profit switcher, ever single coin was always over $45-70/day so MINIMUM earned should have been 0.0031 BTC which it failed miserably.

Cool program and all, but profit switching 100% did not work to increase profits, it actually decreased them by 30%

Interesting findings. Currently using Nemos on 2 rigs and I'm not seeing the expected profits either.

I’m seeing like 40c off prediction per card per day for the past 5 days using sniff

Thanks moondoggie - how many cards are you using - I only dedicated 6 1080 Ti's to it -
Also my switch timing was 5min.

Earnings were just super low.

Switch timing of 5 mins is super short imo. It takes a miner from 10 - 30 seconds to start mining and if the top profit coin keeps changing you could be having a lot of downtime.

Personally I keep it at one algo, if something's more profitable by 20% or more I manually switch and check once a day.

Thank you KaydenC - I just mine single algo - I went to switching just to run a test, I'm back to single algo on that rig. I can definitely confirm your 20%, it was actually a lot more of a loss than 20% (for me) so yes, back to single algo Smiley

Having a issue with SMOS i currently have a 6 rx580  4gb (vbios modified to get roughly 28.5 mh/s) on b250 mining setup and I always get the error "binary file (standard input) matches (error -38)" after 1-2 hours of mining. I searched a lot on the web tried a few things but nothing seems to work.

I was using windows before and rig use to crash few hours into mining just like when using SMOS.

If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I cant tell how many hours ive put into trying to solve this problem.

Thanks.

If it's crashing on both it's your setup - don't know your hardware but I'd recheck your overclock settings might be too high or an issue w/hardware.
