261  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: September 12, 2013, 01:39:39 AM
I asked the other day (per ticket), if the information provided here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179586.msg3024749#msg3024749

were accurate.

In short, the answer is a clear yes. Sturle is backed up by their answer.
Cheers Benjamin (the one who will soon find out, if that holds)

Kris, thank you for your information. No offense and with due
respect, it is not useful without further action.

But: Using the information above about gbgplc and
http://www.gbgplc.com/news/gb-news/bitstamp-selects-gbgroup-to-set-identity-verification-standards-in-bitcoin-trading-market

makes me more confident.

Cheers Benjamin

Sad
I am not saying, I am asking.

Now for the more serious first answer:
It matters to me. Obtaining correct information, no matter how large or
small can help profile an entity. In a financial environment attention to
detail should be a strict requirement.

It looks like they registered with the identity provider gbgroup that itself is registered
as I found out here: http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo
--
GB Group plc
A Company registered in England and Wales, 2415211.

Registered Office Address:
GB House,
Kingsfield Court
Chester Business Park
Chester
CH4 9GB
--

I am checking now, if bitstamp.net is a client of this company. If they really are, it solidifies my
impression of bitstamp.net as a candidate exchange.

Might I ask your trusted-exchange-selection algorithm, please?
264  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitstamp.net 's Legitimacy on: September 10, 2013, 02:20:50 PM
Hello everybody,

I can't find a reference that bitstamp.net truely visited the
bitcoin2013 conference, as they stated on facebook.

Could this be a scheme to gain credibility, or am I over-
looking something?

Your references that help clarify this issue are highly
appreciated.
Yours,
Benjamin

Normally you provide the output of lines like

$ dmesg > bitcoin_qt_error.txt
$ cat /var/log/syslog >> bitcoin_qt_error.txt

or its contents to the developers. It is best to gather the information
closest to your incident. If you cannot figure out your problem by yourself,
you could try to reach the developers via sourceforge.net.

270  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Duration OKPAY to BTC-E in USD on: April 23, 2013, 05:29:55 PM
hey jason,

thank you very much for your answer.
I reconsider doing business with btc-e, given the latest news as read on reddit and here.
It is just sad...

271  Other / Beginners & Help / Duration OKPAY to BTC-E in USD on: April 23, 2013, 11:01:39 AM
hi yall,

i searched around for quite a while, but withtout success.
How long does a transfer in USD from OKPAY to BTC-E take?

The fees are supposed to be 1% taken on the BTC-E side and
0.5% on the OKPAY side, totalling 1.5%.

cheers

My total logged in time has been stuck on 1 hour for a day. I have been on the newbie boards reading and posting..... Sad
Have you tried the old trick: Logging out + Logging back in?
273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: April 18, 2013, 11:00:34 PM
Just saw that this topic even got some mods. Is this some kind of punishment ^^

It's pretty much just me writing the site. If someone wrote something, I try to credit them clearly.
Outstanding! It's been a while since I visited your site, back than I missed a CV Sad
Hey, let's hijack this thread and fill up the required amount of posts quickly.

gwern
hi gwern!
I stumbled over your site some time ago DNB-related.
I was always wandering how many folks contribute content to your site.
However, what a funny coincidence to see you here on my first day Smiley
Kind regards, bnjmnkent.

Hello everybody.

I would like to apply for getting out of the newbie box earlier than required Smiley
I am particularly qualified, as I have read the first sticky on top of the Newbie Section.

Furthermore I am able to apply what I have read there Smiley

Hey, and IF anybody reads that at all: you are awesome!
Now let's unlock the features, as I have to exchange posts with nitrous concerning his mt.gox API v2.

LAWL

If you lawled, too, or at least smiled a little bit -> unlock me Smiley)))

Just joking, will/can do like everybody else here...
