261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Recently started to try HDD Mining on: April 04, 2018, 04:32:56 AM

I tryed first mine Burst and hold it. Once it was pumped i sold out all of it. When price dumped, i decided that now is time to change all drives for Storj. And was disappointed. Storj did not use all capacity like burst (so calculator was wrong), but did very high intencity of load on hard disks and cpu. And i return back to burst.

I happen to me few months ago as I tested to mine Storj in 2 weeks with 8 Tb: just few hundred kbs was filled, also it seems like my internet traffic was affected a lot by Storj mining even with that low of renting space.

is it profitable now? could anyone tell me what is the ROI of a storj rig with 40T capacity?

You could have a reference for profitable calculation on this site: https://blocks.fastpool.info/calculator

I suggest that you cut it 20%, so for 40Tb, with current difficulty level, you may get 1314 Burst coin, so 80% of that: 1314*0.8 = 1051 Burst => ~ 17$/month.

The Technically mining process initialy speaking GPU mining is better for profits than HDD mining. However, my thinking is that means getting in at the ground level in HDD mining where GPU mining is crowded. HDD's are always valuable regardless of the crypto market.Assuming you are doing this as an investment I think at the moment it's too soon to get a sensible system. Your electricity costs and potential fees for the static process will probably out spend rewards. Statiprocess can be obtained for free with good admin if you keep on top of the account. If that started should be relevent on HDD mining.

Totally agree with you. I'm mining Burst coin mostly for my hobby, also Burst Coin's community is very nice, I learned a lot from them, and the thing is I could collect around some cheap HDDs. The only thing to do in Burst coin mining is sitting there and wait money back, actually almost no ROI haha.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which Card to Sell? RX580 or GTX1070 on: April 04, 2018, 04:20:20 AM

RX580 8GB or GTX1070 8GB

From what I understand and have currently read about future AMD card releases, ETH ASIC and ETH POS. I'm thinking of selling the RX580's first.  This would be on the basis that the 1070 has more mining potential and possibly a better re-sale in 6 months.

I agreed with you on keeping GTX1070 8Gb for sure. Not only about the thread of ETH asic and PoS to sell RX580 which I'm using a lot, 1070 is very flexible and could achieve high performance for most of algorithms. Before I even used 1070 to mine ETH, then I used it to switch mining between several algorithms which results to quite good profit. For the re-sale in 6 months, I dont think the price of 1070 will be reduced much. I'm also thinking about my RX580: keep them to mine (ETH+XMR) or re-sale to buy some asic miners.

I read thought Eniac whitepaper and as far as I understand your project will develop ENC to implement user's fingerprints, facial geometric data and encrypt coins with signing algorithms, making the data of fingerprints and face a secondary private key. The idea is really nice, but I wonder does this project aim to apply these advance features for e-commerce payments and ID platform?
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Recently started to try HDD Mining on: April 02, 2018, 09:27:16 AM

Rejected shares were GPU shares at first because blago HDD miner can submit shares as soon as its able to. You can only fail to submit if another block gets found before you submit your ongoing shares. Anyway then my connection became completely unstable. I wasn't even able to connect to the internet.

I didn't try it yet with win7, will do it today probably.

That monitor is a 7" raspberry pi monitor. Yes It has an HDMI port. The one in this link.

Thank you very much! That portable Raspberry pi 7 inch LCD is exactly the thing I need now. Whenever I come to check my rigs, I always need to hand a long with 3kg monitor Sad(
For rejected share, I think in most block my miner could not meet the deadline as well, my total plotted files are around 80Tb. But the mined Burst is coming less recently, just ~3200 Burst per month.

OK I made the tests. The rig works stable with Win7 while both HDD's and GPU are connected and mining coins. I am doing one thing different though. Instead of running nicehash, mining Raven now. Don't think it'll change anything. No signs of connection losses since last hour.

I didn't experience it myself till this month and now I know it.

Rumors are right. Win10 is just an incomplete trojan horse which they threw at us for free. Win7 is still the best OS they made.

*Maybe its too early to verify the situation, still gotta wait for a day at least*
Ok waited long enough. Yep w10 is shit.

All of my GPU rigs are using Windows 10 actually, because as far as I know windows 7 has some issues if we add more than 4 GPUs on rig, I think it's quite the same even with windows 8, the only thing I dont like for new update of windows 10 is it contains too large window files (almost 40Gb for OS). My burst mining rig just uses an old mainboard and windows 7, I ever tried to run plotter in windows 10 but window defend stop it right away, even I changed some additional settings, the plotter kept crashing.

267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to defend against asics or prove Metroid wrong on: April 01, 2018, 06:05:40 AM

And how many people can get an ASIC to become miners?

How many people can get gpus AND are willing to invest in them? AMD and nvidia inspires a hell of a lot more trust than Bitmain.

Can you say the next sentence with a straight face? BITMAIN IS A FIGHTER FOR DECENTRALIZATION.

Also for the main reason, immagine how much we can stick it to metroid  Cheesy

We all dont want something like decentralization, I dont own any asic miner as well but Bitmain is too big now, and they have too much money to not only destroy another asics manufacturers also our small GPU miners, to monopolize the market. So we hope now some actions like Monero team who may launch a radical means of combating ASIC-miners through the update of CryptoNight algorithm. But that's all about the efforts of development team, this's quite exciting times, I think Ethereum team also are watching on what happens to Monero. I believe that it would be best practice would be to fork like Sir Phil said.

269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: re: Standard CPU and GPU Temperature (°C) on: March 31, 2018, 04:53:56 AM
Your CPU and GPU temperature both are still fine and very cool indeed, so dont worry. For CPU, you just need to make it below 75C and for GPU, it should be cooled down below 70C. The optimum ranges I always try to set for my rigs are like: CPU 65-70C (for Burst mining rig) and GPU: 55-60C by forcing cooling fan (actually the better solution should be related to ventilation plan), but dont push it too much, One of my GPU fan was defective just after 8 months of mining as I forced it make GPU cool at 45C (GPU is MSI 1070 seahawk hybird cooler).

Code 43 typically regards to Driver or Riser. You may recheck on both: reinstall driver or check is there any faulty riser.

273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: March 30, 2018, 01:16:51 PM
I sold some ETH at 490$, that time, I just planned to grab some 2nd hand GPUs as I saw a lot of people started to sell their rigs.
But it seems like it's better if I wait to buy back ETH at lower price, at this 300$ it means I get profit already with 60%.
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I shut it down tonight boys. on: March 30, 2018, 06:48:16 AM
I still keep mining even my electric is more expensive than yours, it's about 0.075-0.08$/kwh here. Even the ETH price is going lower, I would like to use my self budget to pay electric bill. It's a bit like gambling but I really believe in the future of ETH. Actually some of my friends still keep going with mining, they involved with mining and crypto already more than 3 years, and the interesting is they said that they ever mined BTC without any profit during the last doom day. And of course, they're rich now.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which coin to mine with 1060 3GB now? on: March 30, 2018, 06:42:47 AM
As the fact that 1060 3Gb doesnt have much intensity, so I think the best choice is still keep mining Ethas algo (ETH) and Equihash (ZEC).
I'm not sure which is your GPU, but my EVGA 1060 3Gb could hash 24mh/s. The profit is not much now, but it's ok.

snip

Just to clarify it, those words are for merit abusers, those sentence are before the the date of the report.

Please appeal to the right/appropriate topic, Im going to answer your questions.

Haha why you snip on my merits: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1107745

Anw, I think I'm ok to be listed on your thread. So I dont think I need to discuss any more about your words or your actions. Nothing is perfect so you should not expect a perfect merit system, as I said, people like who like them, that is one of the human nature. I bought a lot of window licenses from dof. as I's building my rigs or for my customers, he helped me through the processes even gave me some bonus., so what's wrong if I gave him or he gave me merits? Btw, as I see, you're looking for some merits from Sir. QuestionAuthority. So you could check on the previous post on that his thread, you will see how he gave me some very wise words. Ok, I stop here.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for a rig frame on: March 29, 2018, 05:21:14 PM
I think you just build your self, an open air frame rig is the best option for me, because it's very cheap with about 25$, very easy to build, convenient for maintenance and movement. For example, most of my rigs look like this:

If you want something look cool, this frame cost around 65$. But I personally dont really like this frame, to build it, I think it may take few hours while I just need to spend 10 minute to make above frame.

I'm out of Merit now, stop talking about that shit now.
Hope you won't come up with a new accusation that hilariousandco is my another alt.  Cheesy
Gotcha, you sent 30 Merits to Mr. Hilariousandco. Its your alt account isn't? Come on admit it.

Just kidding  Grin

I just came across this thread and check 1993jochico's previous posts, it's very funny and interesting that in his thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182306.0, he claimed about me with this "...merit abusers I strongly believe that they dont deserve to stay here anymore they cheat to this forum for a long time" and this "Wether these 2 are friend's or alts this seems still a merit abuse."

I dont think he should judge me with these words. Before writing these words, at least he should do some researches. People like who like them, so they could give merits to anyone they like. Also, I dont think he could make thing better with this kind of actions.
