261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is now a good time to store some Bitcoins? on: January 31, 2018, 08:23:39 PM
We can't really tell you whether or not you should invest your money in Bitcoin. We don't want to be blamed later for your loss.
I have bought some BTC when it reached the price of $10000 dollars. It looks like the value of Bitcoin might decrease a bit but it should start to increase again after more people start using the Lightning Network.
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin became more popular in 2017 on: January 31, 2018, 08:07:21 PM
We can't neglect that Bitcoin became extremely popular last year but why did it actually happen? Was it because the price of Bitcoin started to surge or because many people discovered that mining was profitable? It would be great if more people started to use Bitcoin. This could force the governments to start thinking seriously about replacing fiat with their own cryptocurrencies. However, I doubt they would be mineable and limited (supply).
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Government Claims Bitcoin Cash Is ‘Original’ Bitcoin on: January 31, 2018, 07:44:05 PM
That's some interesting news which might cause Bitcoin Cash price to increase (I still haven't checked exchanges). Don't you think that the only purpose of this statement was to pump Bcash which would allow the US Government to exchange BCH fo BTC? Also, I'm quite surprised that they choose SegWit. As far as I remember, SegWit was only a softfork so why would anyone call Bcash to be the original chain when it was a hardfork?
264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this new crash very bad on: January 30, 2018, 10:05:43 PM
I don't think that we could call this small decrease a "crash". There have always been such events where Bitcoin price decreased quite a lot without any particular reason. Right now many people are afraid to invest because they think that the end of cryptocurrencies is close. They have no idea what they are talking about. Bitcoin won't die anytime soon. In fact, the interest in it will continue to grow in the next few years.
265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest now - should or not? on: January 30, 2018, 08:51:48 PM
I think that now it is a good time to invest in Bitcoin. I am certain that Bitcoin price will rise after Lightning Network will be used by more people than it is today. There were many discussions on Bitcoin scalability problem and it seems that it will be fixed soon. We might be able to use Bitcoin for microtransactions really soon. Usually higher demand equalls higher price. I will use Bitcoin everyday after LN becomes a real thing.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people want Bitcoin? on: January 30, 2018, 07:56:04 PM
I am not surprised that people want to use Bitcoin. Some people live in countries where economy is terrible and they are experiencing hyperinflation. Bitcoin is the best choice for them. I personally use Bitcoin because I am tired of giving someone my money. I would like to be responsible for securing my own money. I am not afraid of getting robbed because I know how to protect myself e.g. using a seperate passphrase for my life savings.
267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Governments let Bitcoins and Crypto World survive? on: January 29, 2018, 07:05:35 PM
It may be really tough for cryptocurrencies to survive it but many people seem to be against the idea of banning them. It looks like some governments are in favor of Bitcoin and try to encourage investors to invest in their country. In my opinion, it is a matter of time before people will understand that cryptocurrencies are needed. Unfortunately, some politicians don't understand the purpose of cryptocurrency and try to create some sort of digital money which would be similar to the current system.
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will you do with your Bitcoin in 2018? Will it become more valuable? on: January 29, 2018, 06:27:48 PM
Most of us bitcoiners would hodl onto our coins for the long term. As we've seen BTC's price soar over the course of last year, it is a sign that the pioneer cryptocurrency could rise even more in value in the upcoming years. The high demand and limited supply, will guarantee that the price will go higher within a short time frame. Thus, those who're wise would prefer to hodl most of their Bitcoins into their wallets to reap the profits in the future.

Before we know it, we'll become early adopters of the cryptocurrency, and perhaps millionaires if we save more than what we spend on our coins. The upcoming upgrades such as the Lightning Network, will become a major boost towards Bitcoin's acceptance in the mainstream world. Once people see that fees become dirt cheap, and transactions confirm instantly, they would use more Bitcoin than other altcoins on the market. Also, the addition of sidechains in the Bitcoin network, will improve the functionality of the pioneer cryptocurrency by delivering smart contracts, and more.

Nevertheless, this year would be the most exciting one yet, if Lightning Network becomes active as it would allow Bitcoin to reach a higher price than today's current value. Therefore, all we can do is buy and hodl our Bitcoins for the long term. Just my thoughts Grin

Thank you for your reply! What a shame I have lost access to my old wallet with few bitcoins in it. I had to start over and... the price of Bitcoin started to surge. I was surprised and decided to register on this forum. Can we really call ourselves early adopters? I don't neglect that we started to use Bitcoin before many people knew about it but what about people from 2009 to 2011? I wish I could go back in time and show myself Bitcoin (not only because of potential profit but also because I would have a lot of time to study how it works or even talk to satoshi).
269  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will you do with your Bitcoin in 2018? Will it become more valuable? on: January 28, 2018, 02:53:26 PM
Like many people here, I am definitely going to keep my bitcoins for the next few years. Bitcoin popularity is constantly growing so the demand may grow rapidly in the next few months. People slowly start to understand that cryptocurrencies are needed. Banks and governments are spreading false information that cryptocurrencies are a fraud or too risky to invest in. I am quite curious what will happen to Bitcoin in terms of development. I can't wait to see Lightning Network being used by the vast majority of users.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is privacy ? Why does it matter on: January 28, 2018, 01:32:18 PM
Currently, every government around the world is able to watch almost every transaction. That is why they are trying to convince people to use online banking. Banks have been giving information to the government whenever they wanted for quite a long time now. That is why we need cryptocurrencies. Unfortunately, Bitcoin is not anonymous at all. It is said that the governments have already developed tools which help them to track Bitcoin transactions. I heard about Confidential Transactions but it looks like the development team is now focused on implementing SegWit into their software.
271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Loaded moves 40 000 Bitcoins to a SegWit Address on: January 28, 2018, 12:49:37 PM
SegWit is becoming more and more popular among individual users. It is still not a native SegWit address but unfortunately, most of the services haven't introduced support for bech32 addresses yet. Where are the people who were shouting that Bitcoin transaction fees were too high? Many people were overpaying for their transactions lately. I can't wait to see wider SegWit adoption after Bitcoin Core releases their updated software with bech32 address generated by default (although as far as I know, it's been already merged so anyone can compile their code and test it).
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I would rather have paper money then Bitcoin on: January 28, 2018, 12:03:02 PM
Bitcoin is not accepted everywhere so I am not surprised that you don't won't to use it instead of USD. However, it is a matter of time before Bitcoin will be widely accepted. Transactions fees have gone down a little but we are still far from replacing credit card and fiat with Bitcoin. I will switch to cryptocurrencies right after they become acceptable in the vast majority of shops. I have already put all my life savings into cryptocurrencies because I believe that they can't be stopped.
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at $20K ? on: January 28, 2018, 11:29:15 AM
It is a matter of time before Bitcoin gets back to 20 thousand dollars. Its value has dropped a bit due to Christmas and new year. It happens every year so I wouldn't worry about. Bitcoin value might start rapidly growing after a huge company or merchant introduces Lightning Network which is said to lower transaction fees. A lot of people join Bitcoin community even though is isn't as fast as it used to be. It will be interesting to see what will happen in this year.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your New Year Resolutions for Bitcoin in 2018? on: January 27, 2018, 10:29:18 PM
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies became extremely popular in the past year so I wouldn't be surprised if it hadn't changed in this year. That is why I am going to continue holding my bitcoins. I would like to focus on trading altcoins this year but I think that it is too risky. Even though Bitcoin has reached 20 thousand dollars last month, I'm not going to sell it. Banks and governments are getting more and more serious about Bitcoin, they might see danger in it.
275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you check Bitcoin price everyday? on: January 27, 2018, 09:10:04 PM
Yes, I check Bitcoin price everyday. I usually do it when I have some spare time. Currently, I'm using TabTrader on my Android phone. It allows you to setup alarms and widgets which are quite useful because you don't have to open the app every time you want to check the price. It is quite convenient to have a widget on my homescreen. I don't understand why people check Bitcoin price every ten minutes, it doesn't make any sense especially if you invest long-term.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you optimistic about Ripple? on: January 20, 2018, 09:34:43 AM
I still haven't decided whether or not I should invest in Ripple. As many people here, I would like to earn money easily. I think that Ripple could be pumped even higher. I doubt that Ripple will ever grow bigger than Bitcoin but I also don't want to help it. Does anyone here have different point of view? I would like to know why I should invest in Ripple instead of Bitcoin.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is the currency of the future? hahaha on: January 12, 2018, 09:36:42 PM
Bitcoin is definitely a currency of the future. Fees are quite high but it is a matter of time before they will decrease. They have increased due to large amount of transactions in the mempool and growing Bitcoin value (note that transaction fees in BTC haven't changed). Don't you think that Bitcoin is promising? Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency so it should be obvious that it won't be perfect.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Now Climbing Back Again !! on: January 03, 2018, 02:04:56 PM
Bitcoin will slowly recover. I'm surprised that so many people panic. Many people celebrate Christmas in November so no wonder why many of them decided to sell their BTC. The same thing happened in the past years so I was ready for something like this to happen. I don't expect huge and fast change, it would be better for Bitcoin to increase slowly in the next 2-4 weeks.
279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your plans with your Bitcoin? on: December 26, 2017, 12:40:53 AM
I'm going to hold my bitcoins for a very long time. It looks like that Bitcoin adoption will continue to increase in the next years. Despite the huge transaction fees, Bitcoin has a potential to become accepted in any online shop around the world. Bitcoin is an interesting piece of technology, that's why I decided to invest in it and it looks like I made a good decision. I'm looking forward to seeing Bitcoin as a replacement for USD.
280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not be number one for long on: December 26, 2017, 12:36:15 AM
Bitcoin is still going strong despite all the hard forks. It means that our community can't be easily halved. However, it looks like miners and users can't really get along together. Miners would like to introduce bigger blocks unlike users. Even though that there are many faster and cheaper alternatives, Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency and it will stay like this for a really long time. Don't compare Bitcoin to Ethereum, they are used for different things by different people.
