261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When I'm emotional, I LOSS! on: February 20, 2024, 03:35:32 PM
The inability of gamblers to control their emotions in the game is something that usually happens to gamblers who have just started gambling. High curiosity about luck makes gamblers carry out more and more gambling activities.
what is happening is irresponsible gambling. I think this is almost the same as what novice gamblers experience. they don't have good control over their emotions when playing.
I have confidence that those who gamble understand the risks of gambling. they can win or lose. However, not all gamblers understand responsible gambling.

Irresponsible gambling is not common to starters. It is even old gamblers who display reckless gambling. Gamblers who have had a long history of gambling or who have developed gambling habits earlier in life may be more prone to continuing or escalating their gambling behaviour as they gamble. These entrenched patterns of behaviour can contribute to the development of a gambling addiction. Sometimes, old gamblers may fall victim to the gambler’s fallacy, which is the mistaken belief that past outcomes can influence future results in games of chance. This fallacy can lead them to chase losses or believe that they are due for a win, fueling further gambling behaviour.

Most starters are scared of using huge money to gamble because of fear that they can lose it and sometimes when these starters have continued loss they can easily stop since they have not been caught in the gambling fantasy. Without a deep understanding of how gambling works, a starter may not feel as comfortable or confident in engaging in prolonged gambling sessions that could lead to addiction. This is different from an old gambler who may possess personality traits that make him more inclined to take risks and seek out thrilling experiences. These traits can make him more susceptible to developing an addiction to the excitement and uncertainty that gambling provides.
262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: February 20, 2024, 02:52:43 PM
Any good parent would have been angry, but they would also be concerned. The parent should worry about the childs state of mind, when he had to steal from his parents and questions should be answered... on why he did that.

They should determine if the child are addicted to gambling and if he is, then their main concern must be to get help for their son, not on how they will get the money back.  Roll Eyes

How will a child display a behaviour that is frowned upon in society and then you expect his parents to check his state of mind first? In my thinking, that will do no good and will even give the child reasons to misbehave next time on the ground that his parents will not scold him but rather will be considerate and even show unmerited care and attention. This will destroy the child`s morals. What I advocate in this kind of situation is to discipline the child then knowing why he did that should follow next.

I will applaud African mothers on this, an African mom will tell the child to feed himself with that money for some days and then you will see the child crying and making promises that he will not do it again. Please, I respect everyone's belief here but for us who believe in Christianity, the Holy Bible made it clear that “whoever spares the rod hates the child…” which in my opinion talks about the importance of punishing the child when he is wrong because that is the only way he learns. When a child steals and faces consequences, they learn that there are limits to their behaviour and actions.
263  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: February 20, 2024, 02:33:06 PM
You should only use any spare money that you may have, and if you do not have any then you should not gamble, now looking for a second job to get more money is a good option, but gambling should not be the main motivation behind that move, as there are many other activities in which you may use that extra money that could help you a lot more down the line.

Whenever the contention of using spare money to gamble comes up, I preoccupy my mind with some questions, what is spare money? Does a poor man have a spare money? In my understanding, spare money is an amount a gambler is prepared to lose after covering all his life expenses for that period. Now, if I am working with my understanding then a poor man doesn`t have spare money because he cannot cover his expenses then how will he get spare money? Does this mean the poor don`t have a place in the gambling industry?

To me everyone can attempt to gamble and so the poor cannot be exempted from gambling even though we know that the poor cannot gamble with spare money because he doesn’t even have enough not to talk about having spare. To me, every piece of money used by a poor person to gamble is sacrificial and this sacrifice is to aid him in escaping poverty which in my thinking is very wrong thinking but we can't help it. A poor man can't gamble for fun or pretend not to be gambling because of money. I have seen poor gamblers claim to be gambling because they enjoy gambling. To me, such a person is shying away from reality because their only consideration is to make extra cash to guarantee a comfortable living.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: February 20, 2024, 02:10:42 PM
If someone cannot set limits and budget for gambling then I am sure one day it will cause you to become addicted to gambling. I hope you are fine. It is very risky because you are betting on your last money. Everyone certainly has their own attitude and there are some people who can set their own limits when it comes to gambling. They only take the budgeted amount of money and will not gamble again after that. Will you try betting again with your last cash after that? If so I bet you are no longer in the same situation. Because what happened to you some time ago was luck.

Well, setting a limit is not enough but sticking to it is what makes the difference. This is likened to buying a book and not reading it. When you don’t read the book you are no different from the person who doesn’t have the book. This is similar to setting a limit and not sticking to it. Setting limits and sticking to them must go hand in hand before it can impact the gambler's gambling habits. Setting a limit is very easy but sticking to it is where the bulk of the problem lies. Just like how it is easy to tell a girl that you love her but showing that you love her sometimes becomes difficult. There are a lot of challenges faced by a gambler which makes it difficult to stick to the budget he has set and until these challenges or urges are controlled setting budget will be frutile. I remember setting up a personal reading timetable while I was in college but I couldn`t follow the timetable because when I wanted to read my friends kept distracting and sometimes I might not be in the right frame of mind to study and all this killed the reason for drawing up a personal reading timetable.

In gambling, certain factors also trigger the urge to gamble thereby making it challenging to stick to the budget. A gambler tends to be more sensitive to losses than gains. When gamblers are on a losing streak, they may feel compelled to continue playing in the hopes of recouping their losses, even if it means exceeding their set limits. Similarly, near misses, where a gambler comes close to winning but ultimately loses, can also contribute to continued play. These near wins activate the same reward pathways in the brain as actual wins, leading individuals to believe that they are close to hitting the jackpot and encouraging further gambling regardless of the limit set. I think there must be a high level of control before a gambler can stick to the budget.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: February 20, 2024, 01:46:22 PM
I have witnessed first hand a couple like that both spouses were not gamblers, the woman was lured into gambling as the man had promised her to buy some expensive necklace if he won big.I heard them discussing at loud voice in some point as things were not going well in that specific session. In such case the best would be to stop gambling as gambling to this couple was bringing problems to them.
In my opinion when a report is based on lies like this couple had built it usually won't last long and any couple where both partners gamble is destined to fail extremely fast.

If gambling has generated problems for the couple then it is high time they stop as you have noted because if this goes on and on it will result in more problems and even affect their relationship and family at large where their children will start to feel neglected and uncared for because of their gambling habit. There are ways the man can raise funds and buy an expensive necklace for his wife instead of waiting to win big from gambling first. This dependence on gambling will prolong the fulfilment of the promise because no one can boast of knowing when he will win in gambling.

I have been in a similar situation and I know the disappointment that comes from hoping on gambling to fulfil a promise. I remember promising my girlfriend that I would send her money but deep down I was depending on gambling to fulfil the promise so I didn’t win. When she asked for the money I gave her another date with a silly excuse and she waited for the new date yet I didn’t fulfil the promise because I still didn`t. Our relationship soared because she felt I was greedy and didn`t want to help her but deep down my inability to help was because I was hoping to win first and it wasn’t forthcoming. I ended up regretted because the stakes were enough to fulfil the promise and it was so unreasonable to depend on gambling to fulfil the promise.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Escape Debt with Gambling: A Dangerous Cycle on: February 19, 2024, 09:45:11 PM
I often say that making gambling a source of income is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. You won't really be able to win from gambling. Honestly, I think gambling is a game, where there will be winners and there will be winners. And in games the most important thing to look for is to have fun in it. So I'm confused when someone thinks of making gambling their job because they think it's easy to get money if they win. You have forgotten one important aspect of a game, fun.

I don't think any rational-thinking person will make gambling a source of income. Unlike employment, gambling does not involve a level of control or predictability that is necessary for sustainable income generation. In most forms of gambling, outcomes are determined by random chance rather than skill or effort, making it difficult for individuals to influence the results in their favour consistently.

The unpredictable nature of gambling outcomes means that there is a high likelihood of losing money rather than making a profit. Relying on gambling winnings to cover living expenses or financial obligations can lead to financial instability and potential debt problems. The lure of potential winnings can create a cycle of dependency that is difficult to break, further exacerbating the negative consequences associated with relying on gambling for income.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Management on: February 19, 2024, 09:14:43 PM
If we don't know how to gamble, we shouldn't gamble, let alone gamble too often, just to find out how to play it. It will only cost you a lot of money if you do not know how to play it. It would be better if you look for a gambling game that you know so that you don't have difficulty playing it straight away and setting bets that suit you. Nobody forces you to gamble, and you should be able to control your mind and not gamble because you already know that you don't know how to play it. We know that every gambler has the opportunity to win, but we cannot pin our hopes on winning from gambling because it is a difficult thing to do.

Gambling when you don`t understand the game is very risky and should be discouraged. Gambling itself is a game of risk and so it will be profitable to a gambler who understands the nitty-gritty of the game and can easily become a problem to a gambler who is so ignorant of the game. You must lose all the time no two ways. I came across a complaint on Facebook about someone who claimed to stake a game hoping to win because the outcome of the game was what he intended to play but played another option because he didn`t understand the option he staked on. So, understanding options especially for sports bettors is important.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: February 19, 2024, 09:00:45 PM
It is going to be a cycle that they can't get rid off.

When they want to gamble and then for that reason is because they want to recover, they will never recover. Let's say some of them finally have recovered but out of the many, how many actually did? maybe really a few amount of gamblers.

Realizing their state and how gambling works will make them analyze themselves if they're still on track or no longer on it and that's why they need to control no matter how long it will take.
They can break the cycle by not gambling for a while and diverting their minds to doing other things so they never think about gambling. This circle must be broken immediately so that they can see that they still have a chance to overcome their gambling problem, but they must also have a strong desire to solve it. If the reason they want to recover is instead playing gambling again, that will never help but will instead make them unable to heal themselves and there is a possibility that they will experience a gambling addiction. There must be awareness and intention to overcome their gambling problem so that they can start looking for ways to overcome their gambling problem.
That's the question on the thread, that there are gamblers that can quit for a moment but then will still come back when they have to.

Trust me, if these gamblers are going to break the cycle they just can't. And that's because they have the urge to gamble still, no matter how long the break has been.

Awareness is there but, it's more accepting to them just go on and deal with the consequences later on.

Most people who claim to have stopped gambling or taken a break are just statements maybe because they don`t have the funds to fuel the gambling urge at that time and so pretend as though they have stopped. I have a friend who only takes a break from gambling when he is broke but as soon as he is paid you will see him funding his account and placing games.
269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: February 19, 2024, 08:47:14 PM
That's right, it's never too late for things that lead to goodness, even if they have experienced such huge losses but if we have a strong awareness and determination as well as a strong commitment as you said then they can get out of this problem from the zone of losses that cannot be predicted. Because indeed to be able to stop gambling I think they need help also from other people such as from their relatives or their spouses if they are married, because indeed gambling addiction is clear that it will definitely cause losses that cannot be avoided with certainty.

That is the right moment to stop gambling addiction and when that time comes, you must maximize it and not be influenced again. Addiction often attacks the human brain gradually and it cannot be completely controlled properly. Forgetting about gambling will be difficult if we still imagine the offer and we have to be prepared for different situations so that we don't remember it again. Family is the right solution and by remembering the good things from it we are also more likely to avoid gambling.
It is a fact that recognizing the importance of one's family is often the key to overcoming gambling addiction. Many individuals who have reached the point of losing themselves to gambling have found that undergoing rehabilitation and psychological testing is an effective way to recover, as their motivation to return to a healthier and more stable lifestyle is often centered around their loved ones. However, it is important to know that having a supportive family is essential in making this possible.

Family is crucial as you have noted to helping an addictive gambler. In addition to what you noted, a supportive family can provide the necessary emotional support to help the individual navigate through the challenges of addiction. They can offer a listening ear, understanding, and empathy, which can help the person feel less isolated and ashamed of their condition. Emotional support can also help reduce the stress, anxiety, and depression that often accompany gambling addiction. Families can assist in finding appropriate resources, such as therapy, counselling, or support groups, and provide transportation or accompaniment to appointments, monitor their loved one’s progress, recognize early warning signs of relapse, and reinforce positive behaviours.
270  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: February 19, 2024, 08:33:32 PM
Responsible behavior? Absolutely crucial. Approach gambling like a tightrope walk, not a casual stroll. Set limits, stick to them like glue, and never, ever chase losses. Remember, it's entertainment, not a get-rich-quick scheme. Treat it like a fancy dinner, not an all-you-can-eat buffet – enjoy it in moderation, or you'll end up feeling queasy (and broke).

A word is enough for the wise. You have itemized the guides to be a responsible gambler and if followed then gambling will be fun and not a death sentence as some gamblers have made it appear. Setting limits should cover both financial and time limits. Financial limit involves determining how much money you are willing and able to spend on gambling activities. Once a gambler reaches this limit, he should stop gambling for the day or session. With financial limits, a gambler is prevented from overspending and his bankroll is protected. Sticking to the limit is also crucial even if you’re on a winning streak, as chasing losses can lead to further financial difficulties.

Setting a time limit is important as a gambler needs to decide how long he wants to gamble and he can do this by setting a timer in his mind or even setting an alarm if possible to remind him when his time is up. This can help ensure that he doesn’t get carried away and spend too much time gambling, which could negatively impact other aspects of his life, such as work, relationships, or personal well-being.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Wins: Your Money Was Returned to You. on: February 19, 2024, 08:14:17 PM
There have been saying that before you win a game in gambling, you would have lost enough funds and that means you didn't win any new or extra money to yourself but the casino return part of your money which you have lost before to you. And some will still say that what about those who have not playing gamble before and they won in their first day in gambling. Well those people newly converts to the gambling system will still dash the casino company that win again because the first time win is always to lure them to the system and making them to perpetual adoration to gamble. And I don't think someone in the gambling industry has as a win win gambling history. Or you wins are bigger than the loss. And all the experiences I have in gambling I have not seen that and also those of my friends who are gamblers have not to me that they only win and there is no loss record in their gambling history. And all the ones I have seen and known, the loses are more than the wins. And when I carefully look at the argument I also accept the assertion that what you win was part of your loss. Is that true? Make your input.

Some of your conclusions here are incorrect. Some gamblers have recorded more wins than they have lost. Recently, there was a trend on Twitter about a boy who staked $5 and won $15000. So do you think such a gambler has lost up to $15000? I`m not sure. There are so many stories of people who won big and made establishments that they are living on to date. Not everyone who won returned it to the bookie and not everyone who won received a quota for their lose. Not minding that most gamblers are on minus but then it will be unfair to claim that no one has benefitted from gambling.
272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: February 19, 2024, 08:04:39 PM
Yeah, never a good idea for both parents to engage in gambling, as no doubt, this could have a very bad negative impact on the children going while they are growing up to become teenagers, and teenagers into adults, the children could pick that up from their parents and that could turn the entire family into a den of chaos and confusion.

In a family, it's always better it be the man of the house who engages in gambling, knowing fully well that he is the bread winner of the family, and that the responsibility of his family rests on his shoulders, so, he will always know how to go about his gambling in a manner it does affect his family's well being, both in finance and other aspects..
A woman gambling in a family is not good, as it makes the woman appear irresponsible, and even in the society we live today, married women gambling always appears immoral.

Whether both parents gamble shouldn`t be a problem rather the question that should preoccupy our minds is if they are addictive gamblers or reckless gamblers. The response to this question will form the basis of our judgment. I gamble and also my wife enjoys playing Bingo but that hasn`t affected our relationship nor have we been unable to pay our bills. We need to understand that gambling is not bad but it is the gambler which makes it a problem or not.

There are stories of a parent gambling and yet still causing problems in the family. What is bad is reckless gambling and when one of the spouses is addicted it is a problem. So, it is possible to have only one partner gambling and yet make the family uncomfortable and yet you can have both partners gambling and yet the family is at peace.
273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: February 19, 2024, 07:50:45 PM
How could he gamble without a prior plan? In my opinion, it is impossible to play for a month without winning, what is clear is that he will stop if he doesn't win even once.
Winning together can only happen in soccer betting, unlike slots, of course each player has their own random game algorithm.
I always force myself to win at least once a week, if I don't win once in a week I will definitely stop for a while. Or even switch platforms to try another game.
But the aim of winning is not by risking borrowed money or money from selling assets in the hope of being able to live off the winnings from gambling.

It is very possible to bet for a month and don`t win.  I am into sports betting and I haven`t recorded winning this month. It happens. I was close to winning yesterday but Bayern Munich lost and that spoiled my ticket. If you win every week then you are indeed a lucky person but gambling is not so easy and that is why we lose more than we win. Like my friend will jokingly say gambling is the most difficult thing in this world lol. I have also seen people gamble with $10 with the hope of winning $1m and they can go for years without recording a single win. Winning or losing depends on how you gamble. When you gamble without greed you have a chance of winning.
274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What game will you choose for one shot big bet? on: February 19, 2024, 07:40:16 PM
Hypothetically, if you are down with 90% of your bankroll and you want to recover all your losses using your 10% bankroll with one shot bet. What do you think  is the most logical game to do this kind of bet that will give you a x10 bet on one try?

This is hypothetical question which means answering a reasoning like you should save the money, stop gambling and etc. is not allowed because this is not real. The intention of the thread is determine what type of gambling game typically being chosen by players as last resort when they are losing badly.

Answer with specific game and explain why.

I will simply bet on Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester City, Brighton and Liverpool to win because I am into sports betting. These teams are in top form currently and I am 100% certain that my 10% bankroll will give me my returns. Though it might not be so much because most bookies give these teams smaller odds if I stake with my 10% bankroll I am sure of getting X10 if I bet on these teams to win and over 2.5.
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: February 19, 2024, 07:22:35 PM
I have gambled with my all and won some years back but I will not advise anybody to try that because it is not a good feeling. My mind was up till the end of the game and even after the winning it still took me time to ease my temperature. The bet was on football games and I needed to settle a bill of $1500 and I had just $300 which was all I had at that time. Though the bill wasn`t urgent but I wanted to settle it and be relaxed. I staked with the $300 to win $1300. At the start of the last game, the team I gave winning was losing by 2goals and I was demoralized. In the first half the game was 2-1 and by 56mins my team equalized 2-2 and the score line remained like that until 90+ when my team got a penalty and scored. It was a good feeling at last but I will never advise any gambler to take such a risk. Our mental health shouldn`t be traded for anything.
276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling between the past and nowadays on: February 19, 2024, 07:01:37 PM
The gambling world yearned for convenience and so they end up delivering what the people are looking for which is online gambling, you can play your favorite games at the comfort of your own home, it's a good concept and utilization of the Internet after all. I don't think that the past that OP's talking about is that bad compared to the present day because casinos are still ever popular among the businessmen, rich people and socialite because they're the kind of people that wants to physically connect because they have to do so, the future of gambling just so happens to be that it brought gambling to masses at a much more convenient way, which is through the Internet.
Aside from this new innovation that was brought to the gambling industry, which is the online casino, gambling was already closer to people back then. If you may ask me, there were more physical gambling shops back then compared to what we have today.

Due to remote jobs, playing from the comfort of your home, stress safety when it comes to health, and other forms of playing safe, the need for online casinos to be active keeps increasing right now. I think we have more online casinos compared to how many physical traditional gambling houses are active around a particular locality.

But one good thing about the traditional gambling house that will always keep that going is that you don't need to worry about KYC; you go on with your physical cash, place your bet, and when you win a game, you are being paid cash, and nothing about your personal data will be needed.

Despite innovation and online gambling, the presence of casino shops is still evolving. Every day new casinos spring up and so they tend to create shops because offline shops also serve as a source of advertising for these casinos. They have always tried to expand by creating shops in more remote areas to generate more income and reach out to more people especially people who find it difficult to navigate through online casino platforms or enjoy gambling more offline because it offers a wide range of entertainment options such as live shows, concerts and other recreational activities. These establishments have created entertainment hubs that cater to a diverse audience looking for leisure activities beyond traditional gambling.

Casino shops can provide social benefits by offering a space for social interaction and community engagement. They can serve as venues for gatherings, events, and celebrations, fostering a sense of community among patrons. These benefits are the reasons shops are still multiplying not minding the presence of online gambling platforms.
277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: February 19, 2024, 06:48:55 PM
What is the problem and what causes a person to be addicted is the lack of understanding of what gambling really is, they only underline that gambling is a place to change the fate in life by utilizing opportunities, but they do not understand that opportunities are just "possibilities" which means there is absolutely no certainty to become a reality and it will really happen when you are lucky.
Addiction is not always because of a lack of understanding. Sometimes, people who know that gambling is all about possibilities and luck and there are no guaranteed gains get addicted to it and the reason behind that is that they do it excessively, maybe not at the initial stage but later on when they have seen that they can win money from it but it's just not guaranteed but their minds keep telling them to try again, what if you win this time?

When they keep trying, again and again, to see if they can win something significant, this thing makes them addicted eventually, along with the fact that they might keep trying to recover their losses each time they gamble and we know what happens to those who try to recover their losses.

I agree with your view. Most people are aware of the implications of gambling every day and are still caught in the web of addiction. So, addiction doesn`t mean prevention or an escape route. Pete Rose, a former professional baseball player and manager, is one of the most well-known cases of gambling addiction in the sports world. Despite being banned from baseball for betting on games, Rose continued to struggle with gambling addiction for many years. One might wonder how but it did happen. Does it mean Pete Rose doesn`t have an understanding? To me he does but that didn't prevent him from being addicted.

A similar story is that of Archie Karas who is a famous gambler known for his incredible winning streak in the 1990s when he turned $50 into $40 million through high-stakes poker and pool hustling. However, Karas’ story took a dark turn when he lost all his winnings due to his gambling addiction. This is another story to justify that addiction is not a lack of understanding.
278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: February 19, 2024, 07:54:42 AM
Gambling is a choice and I don't think you need experience to start playing. We all started out as novices till we got to know some things and in my country, sometimes gamblers are not up to the age for gambling, as long as they can afford the money to stake games, age is not really a factor.
The way the Op put it made it look as if there are some gamblers who were came with the experience like a manual when they were born.
Some gamblers use emotions when playing because they put too much hope in winning and when it doesn't pan out the way they expected, they get upset that's why it's advisable to play with an amount you can easily let go of.

Yeah, as long as you are above the legal age to gamble, gambling becomes a choice and also doesn't need experience to start gambling as you have noted but then you cannot overemphasize the role of experience in the life of a gambler. Sometimes it is not about winning but how you manage your bankroll. Experienced gamblers are typically better equipped to assess and manage risks effectively. They understand when to take calculated risks and when to walk away, helping them avoid significant losses in the long run. Experienced gamblers are also better at managing their emotions and making rational decisions even under pressure. This emotional resilience can be a significant asset in maintaining composure during both winning streaks and losing streaks.

it's best to stop giving him advice, just let it go and tell him "do whatever you want and be responsible for your actions" this way he will realize more quickly when he has lost everything and he doesn't have any hope, that way his heart will be open and he will gain a very painful experience in that way, of course he will be deterred and get better, he will think about your words

The gambler who get advice from the old gambler should be accepted.Because they will advise based on the experience on the same gambling site. The gambler who take the responsibility for the loss in the gambling site are the professional gamblers. The gambler who take responsibility for each one dollar in the gambling site will make huge from the same gambling site.Because the gambler does not take risk when they take responsibility of the money in the gambling sites. The gamblers who face the loss whose heart will be broken one in the emotion. The broken heart also reason for the loss in the gambling site most likely in random betting.
Of course what you say is very true, but have you ever been with a gambling addict who spent all his money on gambling? irresponsible gambling addicts, they won't care about what we say, even if it's for their own good, it's hard to make them aware, we can only tell them, but the choice is still up to them.

This difficult in adhering to advice stems from the fact that gambling activates the brain’s reward system of an addict by releasing dopamine and this creates a euphoric feeling that reinforces the behaviour, making it difficult for individuals to resist the urge to gamble again. Gambling addiction affects impulse control, decision-making processes, and emotional regulation, making it harder for individuals to resist the urge to gamble.

In some cases, the gambler may be surrounded by friends who also engage in problematic gambling behaviours and this can normalize their addictive tendencies because the gambler will feel that there is nothing wrong with his behaviour. In addition, financial pressures resulting from gambling losses can create a vicious cycle where individuals feel compelled to continue gambling in hopes of recouping their losses. The fear of facing consequences such as bankruptcy can fuel the addictive cycle, making it difficult for individuals to break free from their compulsive gambling habits.

Hello everyone!

Recently, I was thinking about the concept of luck in my life and how lucky I am. And I wondered how other people, especially gamblers, perceive this concept.

It would be interesting to read your thoughts.

You can answer these questions, for example:

  • Do you believe in Luck? If so, how do you describe your perception of this concept?
  • How lucky do you think you are from 1 to 10?
  • Does your sense of luck in regular life correlate with your luck in gambling?
  • Do you believe that some special things or actions can increase your luck?

And do not hesitate to share any other thoughts about it. Let's discuss!

I believe in luck but that doesn`t mean that a gambler should not make an effort to win. Most gamblers believe that they can be lucky and that is why they participate in gambling activities, as they hope to be favoured by fortune. While luck may seem to play a role in short-term outcomes in gambling, the long-term results are more influenced by probability and skill. In casino games like blackjack or poker, players can improve their chances of winning through strategic decision-making and understanding the odds. Over time, skilled players are more likely to come out ahead compared to those who rely solely on luck.

I don't think I am lucky when it comes to gambling. It's been a long time since I had a big win but my friend has been winning big and any day I play his game we don`t win lol. On a scale of 1-10, I will rate myself 2 lol.

In real life, I don`t believe in luck. I believe you can achieve anything if you work hard for it. But in gambling no matter the effort you might still not win. I don't relate my belief in luck in gambling to my everyday activities.

In my opinion, selecting the right game to play can also be considered a factor that may influence luck in gambling. Some players believe that they have better chances of winning in certain games based on their skills, knowledge, or past experiences. Knowledge about the game can help players make informed decisions and avoid common pitfalls. This is important because I have placed a bet on teams I don't know and ended up losing the bet. So it is good to only stake on teams you know. This can increase your chance of winning.
