261  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A case study in entry-level mining on: June 05, 2014, 09:20:21 AM
i have read about cloud mining, i am really interested in it now. is that something you would try? looks like you don't have the hassle of building, maintaining, updating a miner, but you can just rent it from those who have comparative advantage: the cloud miners.
look, for example here's a review. https://cloudmining.guru/wp/category/reviews/
the review is even comparing and ranking the existing services.
what do you think?
or is it a dead end? what's the general view on cloud mining services?

They charge you more than you will ever make.
Think about it, why would they sell you a dollar for 75 cents?

Also, start to look at a PoS to urge people to keep the coins in the wallet and not day trade for profit.

PoS discourages people from spending their coins.
Is that the point of a currency, to be exchanged for goods and services.
Other than being the current fad-of-the-week, what exactly does PoS have to recommend it?
It rewards people who build up large pots of money and never do anything with them.
Isn't that just replicating the current banking system?
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CCU Will Be Accepting Mining Rigs For Needy Schools on: June 02, 2014, 09:58:59 AM
I know if I were the Principal of a needy school and someone gave my school a free rig

If I were the principal of a school, and someone sent me a strange box of electronics, I'd probably call the bomb squad.
I certainly wouldn't plug it in.

Stage 1 of the distribution will finish in a couple of weeks. I've decided that stage 1 coins that haven't been distributed will be destroyed (4M+ coins), burning them by sending to an address for which we have no private key.

How will you prove you don't have the private key?

But since he was writing on the time of the facts, when many Romans that were there were alive, he couldn't lie much.

If you stop and think about that, it is obviously wrong.
Both sides in a war lie to make their own part look better.
Look at what is happening in the Ukraine now. The Ukranian version and the Russian version can't both be right, can they? So at least one side is lying, and that is with all the modern communication methods we have available now.
Then, Josephus could have said anything he wanted to his own people, chances are the Romans would never have heard about it, and if they had contradicted him, he would have just said that they were lying.

I was expecting some new facts, but your links basically give speculation. And none of them negates the mass suicide. We basically don't know what happened.

Yes, the story was changed for political reasons. Some crazy assassins, mostly of fellow Jews, were converted on heroes. But they also resisted the Romans, we don't know how much, and many refused to be taken alive.

It's well known that the archaeologists only found 28 skeletons. But since it's clear that 28 persons, including women and children, couldn't resist the Romans, many bodies are missing.

If only 28 bodies were found, a reasonably conclusion is that either there weren't any more than that to start with, or that there were, but most of them got away.
You are starting from an assumption that there were a thousand people resisting in the first place. That isn't a known fact.

You do realise that the British Monarch is not just Protestant, but the head of the Anglican faith?

You do realize that all major religions are nothing but cattle management programs?

What does that have to do with the silllyness of the post I responded to?

The Monarchy, which is merely the glove on the hand of the Vatican, is not accountable with regards to any of these issues.

You do realise that the British Monarch is not just Protestant, but the head of the Anglican faith?
Not exactly hand in glove with the Pope.

What address is the Premine in? I want to check

extract from the first post :
The address for first maildrop  is mWuwabhbmNHyYNLbQ8pzYfnFymHm5JicXf.
The address for the bounties is me4HkydLYfdH3PP2oDudqRYnpFvxuCL3K2.
The rest of the reserve for the other distributions is situated in magsvXHxvJhN3i3pEoSCPGJr5VwzFVgkrF.

I don't think those addresses line up with this?

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/#!rich

The total of the top 5 addresses is additively what I would expect for all the premine. At first I was thinking 2 of those would have to be poloniex and bittrex - but maybe they spread out over smaller wallets for safety.

#1, #2 and #3 on the richlist are definitely coins from the premine, you can trace their transactions (from block 53553) all the way back to block 1.

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mcgeM2eL2XrgpG9K4nCeqvTHf9KXAiidNT.htm receives the 24,334,133 million coins in block 1.
In block 422 almost all are transferred to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mVZDni44JhVnhkKu26TE3Q98uRPrC2Waiq.htm
In block 1050 they are transferred to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?meN5b73QegEppQmwCx9fcNv4TmQTy8bGh9.htm
In block 2068 they are transferred to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mbU4opnpyG5NoPShxCLJawbdzUPKbnnTqw.htm
In block 2070 they are split as ~7M to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mWuwabhbmNHyYNLbQ8pzYfnFymHm5JicXf.htm and ~17M to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mW3ou5vELkqTHs7tvQJYm66rE9u42QPy5n.htm

The address receiving the 7M is one that had been regularly mining, by the look of it.
In block 22297 the 7M transfers to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mYx67d6MCrkbtDeRZHPj6rpWoedmWDFwFb.htm then in block 53373 to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mX99GbGrNxaVDseC6oA1Rkzwi5Mo2bFroP.htm, then in block 53553 (now down to 6M) to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mZXUsuy8SkrtjD5QcKgnvRJ49YPhmzcG9U.htm and in the same block (now down to 5.5M) to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mW15iv1mMh5kN3n2JjPndUXxt6jF1mHv8Z.htm (#2). Basically 500k was split off at each point.

The ~17M was transferred in block 22294 (now down to 16.5M) to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/mun/address.dws?mTtrqAooKh44qSd8G5nQbyZNrVmgzkRFCk.htm (#1)
#3 is formed by funds split off from the movements above.

This all looks like reasonable preparation for coin distribution, breaking the premine down into smaller amount to divide between areas/people.

I think US citizens should just say NO!
"No taxation without representation!"

You have representation, what on earth are you talking about?
The Gov's representation on Bitcoin tax, What right do they have to Tax bitcoin income?

Why should it be treated differently to any other income?
You supply hashes to a mining pool, the pool pays you for those hashes, whether your hash solves a block or not.
You are being paid an amount proportional to the work you have done.
Sounds like income to me.

Well most of things is gonna be changed ... we are working on developers team for maza, we will fork mazacoin and stabilize price finally

Not sure If I'm reading this right but... how do you think this fork "will stabilize price" ?

I read before that some plan on reducing the coins and altering the distribution model.
It sounds more like what the fed is doing not what the free market dictates.

Rather than forking and spooning the coin , why not actively getting involved and promote the coin... or if that is not possible with Payu still in charge ... scalp him!

The main MZC problem is that itīs extremly mined out ( you canīt keep price high when miners always sell more you have) .... When you reduce supply / miners reward than we will stay higher without this problem

Only because there isn't enough demand.
If there was demand, price wouldn't fall.
This is hardly unique to MZC.
273  Economy / Economics / Re: Fractional Reserve Lending IS NOT bad - its unavoidable on: May 17, 2014, 01:02:21 PM

Most people speed and drive drunk without causing accidents.  I have, causing exactly none.  I'm a conscientious and capable drunk driver/speeder.  I don't want some gubermint busybody regulating me just because statistics show there's a higher chance that I might kill someone.  I have caused exactly zero harm, and punishing me for what might happen if I'm not stopped is the very definition of precrime.

Capable drunk driving is impossible. If you consciously and repeatedly drunk drive (while believing you're capable lol) you disregard the safety of others so blatantly and to such an extent that I do not wish to converse with you any further.

Do KNC even have a US operation those lawyers could serve with papers?

From the ToS that you agreed to when you ordered:
Quote
13.2 Applicable law and dispute resolution

13.2 1  This Agreement shall be interpreted and applied in accordance with Swedish law, without regard to any conflict of law. Any disputes are to be settled by ordinary court in Sweden where the District court of Stockholm shall be the first instance.
275  Economy / Economics / Re: Cex.io: the largest Bitcoin cloud mining service, not a profitable investment on: May 16, 2014, 01:02:55 PM
The article headline is very negative biased. In the article itself it discusses the ability to trade the GHS and that is an advantage CEX has over other cloud miners. Just sitting on cloud hashing won't yield a decent enough profit regardless of wjo the provider is, same as just sitting on cash in the bank won't. I've only just tried it out myself, but can see how the mining and trading combnination works very well. .https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=317001.msg6726473#msg6726473

You are just relying on the greater fool theory.
If CEX GHs aren't profitable, then eventually you will run out of fools to trade yours to.

Is there a long-term example in alt-coin crypto...

No.
There is no such thing as long-term alt-coin crypto.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps v1.5.2 Just Released Checkpoint Node New Wallet Design! Please Update on: May 15, 2014, 03:32:58 PM
After the wallet is officially released the PoS will increase until we hit the Max of 200%
Day 1 - 30 Max PoS stays at 1%
Day 31- 60 Max Pos increases to 50%
Day 61 - 90 Max Pos increases to 100%
Day 91 - 120 Max PoS increases to 150%
Day 120+ Max PoS will be 200%

A coin with 200% inflation is a good idea?
Why would anyone ever actually spend any CAP? With this system in place, they would be stupid to, rather than just sit on it and earn more.
So it becomes a network of people sitting on large piles of CAP, with massive inflation, and no actual use.
So why would it have any value? It wouldn't be used for anything, and more and more coins would be constantly being generated.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The CEO of eBay :we are considering intergrating bitcoin actively on: May 15, 2014, 03:19:54 PM
Bitcoin will be mainstream when people are using Bitcoin without even realising it.
When we've got wearable tech that stores our crypto wealth and detects the unique fingerprint that is our heartbeat pattern, that's when crypto will be mainstream.

Take off the bracelet, and your wallet is locked. Your money can't be touched unless your heartbeat is detected.

THE END OF MUGGING. Theft as we know it will be obsolete. That's the future of money. That's what mainstream cryptocurrency looks like.

Possibly the end of theft, but of mugging?
Seems like "Transfer your funds or I'll beat you up" would work just as well as "Withdraw money from the ATM or I'll beat you up".

It's more likely something like 25-35% of the 1% who are homosexual PLUS 5% radical left wing drooling hipsters who just think they are better, smarter and more progressive than other people.

So it is some 5% of the population who want to suppress the rights of the remaining 95%.

How exactly are your rights being suppressed?

Get these minority groups that come out and cry oppression and then everyone has to bend over backwards to make them happy

Yes, like the people who complain that Subway sell Halal food and demand that their own food preferences be enforced on everyone else.
They really should get over themselves.
