Does bitcoin itself need regulation? Questionable. Regulated exchanges by all means until we see decentralised exchanges becoming more popular.

Karma seriously screws you up, there is no escaping.
I'm curious why karma doesn't work for USA presidents... Too funny! Glad to see these thieves are being dealt with ...

So I take it still no news?
Expecting lots of exits as people have had BTC tied up for a long time.

Let the Darwinian competition continue.
Darwin theory is wrong. This world has been existing for 7.5 kiloyears only. Bones of dinosaurs and other stuff was placed there by Satana to test us. Sorry, I didn't resist the temptation to troll in a thread created by a troll.Oh no the nightmares!

CP is an issue that I think 100% of the people here are concerned about. However, adding moderation to the system might become fundamental flaw and negate the entire system. The voting system is something worth looking at. Maybe focusing the system on shipped items versus downloadable items is the solution instead of moderation. That way if a user is selling and shipping CP it will make it somewhat easier for LE to focus their attention on those sales instead of others.
Good way to look at that ... Shipped items will be the bulk of sales anyways from video cards used in mining to clothing. At some point in the near future when the community has come to general consensus on moderation technology then the developers can introduce downloadable content. It would be less of a strain on the network anyways to have to manage uploads and file transfers. By that time we should have reached a critical mass of users on the marketplace and the feedback would be coming from actual use cases instead of speculation on the what or how. I like your thinking ... Certainly gives time to see which way things move

a free market is a free market.
i think the best thing to do would be to make all listings only reachable through keyword searching (limiting a posting to 1-2 keywords) with a small fee for listing.
also, no thumbnails in search results.
if you don't want to see CP, don't search for CP.
This does not solve the issue with CP popping up under categories when you are just searching through the market. I was thinking about a voting system: 1. Seller lists item in category for the first time and it gets posted in a non-filtered version of this category. 2. After X hours the item gets bumped up in the regular category listing unless he receives X votes for placing an item in the wrong category. * users could select whether they would want to see un-filtered results AND filtered or only filtered. * The item will remain in the un-filtered category for X days until another promotion to the regular categories can be requested 3. If a user has sold X items in a certain category the items he posts would get bumped to the regular listings right away. Or does this sound crazy? Sounds reasonable ... Making it work in a decentralised fashion could be something else

One of the ideas we are playing with is the ability to up/down vote and maybe the ability to vote to move items ....
Will this make v1, likely not but we are putting thoughts into how we can empower the people to choose what they want in their decentralised market.
All ideas atm and require lots more thrashing out.

Keep the suggestions coming guys, better still jump on slack so we can discuss in more details.

Is it true that sellers should get their nodes online every 2days at most or their announcement will get deleted?
I have Just read this statement SDC does NOT store offers on the blockchain, you have to have your node up and running at all times to sell your goods. How do we get from ShadowMarket will not being using the blockchain (which I should add is a bad idea) to "you have to have your node up and running at all times to sell your goods"? If you are going to quote something, atleast mention to the user/website/content? there https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=757255.msg10888788#msg10888788I trust you are joking? you are taking advice about a new platform from a competing market? (if you can either call it that ... how on earth does he know the design when only those in the Shadow Team do?)

Hi guys, can you add Navajocoin to this topic? Anon feature is up and running with double encryption. Thanks
Posted From bitcointalk.org Android App
Maybe not ? Because it's a centralized system ? Why not add a row for decentralisation? Its only fair that all the contenders for anon coins are listed fairly and accurately... I respectfully disagree ... Cloak PoSA.v2 was anonymous and decentralised but not trustless.... should we add that too? Once NAV does not require a foundation to run nodes to keep it secure from bad actors then it can be considered for addition, until then I do not consider it a contender (mind you I do not consider DRK a competitor either but meh).

Navajo is a centralized system from my understanding. The nodes are centralized and maintained by the Navajo Coin Foundation. Although they are looking for a method to decentralize it without compromising the anonymity of the network. From their white paper, section 2.2.8: Node Maintenance: The nodes will be decentralized, but to begin with they will be maintained by the Navajo Coin Foundation. We are working to find a secure way that we could distribute the code for users to setup their own nodes, while still being able to guarantee the integrity of the Anonymous Network. http://navajocoin.org/files/navajo_whitepaper_march2015.pdf

They can snoop on your data all day long and you will never know about it... the downside of virtualisation!
Can you explain what is the data that they would snoop after hacking into a masternode? Pretty much anything in/out of that VPS ... so IPs connecting on the drkcoin p2p network, DS transactions, ssh logins, grab the wallet.dat file and pull all the address this MN has used for DS transactions etc etc etc ... now if you have access to lots of MN with this data you could start to slowly piece things together.

Last year the Monero network was hit by one of the most sophisticated attacks ever seen in crypto (at least according to TacoTime). The idea that an NSA-level adversary could not silently compromise masternodes or defeat darksend through statistical analysis is just absurd.
Well let's hear why it's absurd, given they need to compromise 2,000+ nodes across 30+ international borders? Again I'm not being disingenuous, I'd like to know... 30+ borders? that is taking it out of context. Who needs to compromise borders when you can just issue notices to hosting companies? have you ever worked with agencies? I have and they have must easier ways to get access to data from hosting providers than the average joe knows. They can snoop on your data all day long and you will never know about it... the downside of virtualisation!

I must say I fell asleep at the wheel. My good bud trollsroyce kept trying to clue me in, but I didn't listen. At any rate, sdc is pretty incredible. Love what I am seeing thus far. Need to dig deeper, but Love,Love Love, the decentralized exchange and the overall work put in. I feel like this coin has so much to offer. Excellent work ! Needless to say, Im in
Good to see you back buddy .... and welcome to the Shadow family!
