LEAFcoin was one of the best alt coins. I really enjoyed it.
Unfortunately the game is over, because a market showed up, and the big mining whales started to dump their tens of millions. Price is going rapidly down, and unless there'll be someone to make the sacrifice to try to keep it up, this coins is gone within 1-2 days maximum. And I am sure that NO ONE can keep up with the huge sale which is produced by the big whales.
Anyway, was a nice adventure.
And today in the leaf trading thread: I am interested in buying some LEAFs. PM your offers.
. So you were just spreading fud to get a lower entry point....

Good job windows wallet developer for stupidity !!! You deserve a medal !
We all get banned from freenode because you are bootstrapping through freenode, which is against their TOS. You just screwed a nice coin
Can you explain the issue in layman terms here? For those of us not that technical.

No. Can you point out at least ONE altcoin which didn't lost it's value within a few days being listed on Cryptsy? This is a general problem with altcoins. Unfortunately, no matter how good they are (and as I told I really think LEAF is very very good, and devs made everything they could, didn't just let it hang around), this is what happens with them. Whales don't mine them because they like the coin, they mine because with the easy difficulty level they make 100.000.000 coins/day, which they can sell at a few satoshis, and they make still a lot more money than mining a coin which already has a big difficulty level.
They don't care about the potential, and don't look at it as an investment. For them it's only a quicker, more profitable way for making BTC. They have very large amounts, and they will not risk to wait while their value decrease a lot. If you have 5-10 million of LEAFs, then you probably say: "what the hell, I am going to take my chance, put a sell order at 40 satoshi, and if it hits there it hits, if not then that's it". If you would have on the other hand hundreds of millions, then there is a completely different issue, and you will not play that game. You will start selling, if you have a little brain in smaller chunks, so you don't devalue too much your own coins, but with every sell you just add the new set of coins you want to sell, and so on.
LOT. Started trading at 10 satoshi on here. Now sits on cryptsy at 30. Doge, started as a joke, now around 150. That's without even thinking . For every sale there is a buyer, and for every buyer a seller. At the time of writing of the last 30 trades, 4 were at the buy rate, 26 at the sell rate. That's a 6 to one ratio of buyers to sellers

But should we worry about the massive sell orders?
Hardly massive. There are about 720m a day being mined so its all relative to total coin production and block halving. Finally someone points out an important aspect, which I also pointed out: the big mine whales are not even on the market yet, and a few millions, maybe a few ten millions are already pushing down the price so hard... they will appear immediately as it gets listed on Cryptsy. It would be GREAT if it wouldn't be listed on Cryptsy for a while in my humble opinion, to save this coin. Can you imagine what will happen when they will show up on the market and they'll throw out hundreds of millions of LEAF out there? A whale miner won't stick a hundred million sell on in one lump. They will sell slowly over a period of days to maximise return and ensure their selling doesn't tank the value, otherwise they damage their own profit ppby doing so. Facts remain, this coin has only 20% of the coins doge has, has a quicker block halving, but has same block reward. If the coin was going to die, you wouldn't see dozens of miners with 20-30+ MH/s turning their rigs to this coin. They can all see the buy order book and know it could be filled in a single day, but they still mine it. Because they have all run the figures and can see the upside here.

Reality is that while millions of LEAF are disappearing on the buy orders column, not even a few hundreds are disappearing on the sell order column.
Well I've obviously been trading a different leaf coin then, because I've bought and sold in 1.5m chunks about half a dozen times in the last couple of hours.

Of course it does... the coin will value a few satoshi, with a huge difficulty level, halved block. People, and of course the big whales will move tomorrow, day after tomorrow to the next coin which is going to be lunched. No one is going to mine LEAF, etc. I guess you realize the result of this chain reaction.
Inevitably dead. Too bad, I really felt for this coin, but knew right from the start that this is the only possible outcome.
Really. Same block payout as doge, same block frequency as doge, just 1\5th the level of coins and earlier block halving. Easy maths says this is very cheap now.

Coin is 4 days old.
10% of doge amount mined coins
22 satoshi.. keep'm coming ! Bottom is min at 150 sat soon imho
LOL doge has a big community, this has nothing. 22 satoshi already too expensive. I mined 50miillion of this but have no hope for it. I'll just keep some for my crypto archive. if you think its too high then dump it at 26. sounds like you missed the boat to me. +1 LOL'd him so much hate doge fan but no awesome no brain such rude so no good no awesome anymore I'll try and decipher your retarded mutterings mutant. However i will be making a new dedicated thread to the discussion of this latest instamined scam coin. instamined?? premine was 100 blocks, and ive seen probably 50% given away in the first few hours. why didnt you buy in 1 hr ago and sell for instant 10% ? sour grapes imho, and everyone can see it.

If anyone has wallet sync problems... in the op post is explained why and a ( temporary ) fix to it is there as well.
Thanks.
We are working on this ( setting up own irc and such )
I don't have any sync problem MCG, Wallet is up since first day synced so smooth, more than other coins I tried. Still getting my transfers in about 0.1 sec (for example when I tried faucets) and confirmations come straight up. I have 8 active connection right now. PS: MCG, found graphical bug!! If you right click on your icon in the tray, there is still an occurrence of DOGECOIN original wallet. Please fix in next update MY LEAF ADDRESS: fcRLGb3nqRMKbxz2pSaV3i4WEFfiPs3fVg You may be runing the wrong version, mine shows leafcoin.

Just bought ~1mil. How long should I hold for?
About five minutes - you should sell them to me at 24 satoshi now.
|
|
|
If this gains the interest that doge did, this could be fun.
doge - average per block 500,000 leaf - average per block 500,000
doge block time - 1 minute leaf block time - 1 minute
doge total production - 100 Billion leaf total production - 21 Billion
doge block halving 100,000 leaf block halving 15,000
If people do the maths on that, then 100 satoshi could be considered a lowball offer in a few days.

Now we need LEAF on CRYPTSY!!!!
No we dont. On cryptsy and coinwarz is next, and then it gets autosold into oblivion like everything else. Id want to see at least 1, preferably 2 block halvings before it gets anywhere near as popular as that. It needs to stay the f*ck away from other major exchanges and places like coinwarz until the block halving, otherwise the early adopters are screwed. +1 Too bad the majority don't seem to care about anything but getting to Cryptsy asap. Makes me wonder if all they want is to dump Then dump away on the exchange we have, Im buying. People who want it on cryptsy asap and certainly those that want it on coinwarz just want to watch the world burn.

who gives a shit if its called a lottery or a raffle?
a raffle is something you do down the pub to win meat packs.
In my view i would consider that game a lottery,
may be if the coin was called raffle coin, they would call it a raffle. But seems fitting to call it a lottery, even if its not technically a lottery.
Sorry but thats just misleading. A lottery may have zero winners. A raffle may not. Its a simple explanation as to why people play, then become disilusioned when they see only a few winners. If they knew up front what they were playing, then it would reduce the questioning and negative press the game gets when the draws occur. Until it is described correctly, then the "why are there only 3 winners - is this a scam" type posts will occur every time the raffle is drawn, which does nothing positive for the coin what so ever.

So this old chestnut of a problem.
Sent some coins from my wallet, and there have been zero confirmations. Tried restarting wallet, still no confirmations after an hour. Wallet has been reduced by the number of coins I wanted to send, but they have not arrived at the other end, and there are no confirmations showing.
Have tried launching wallet with -rescan switch, but still no confirmations.
Any advice on what can be done?
can you pm me with the transaction details? i can look at it when i get home No need - a few rescans and reindex and it fixed itself.
