Yeah try 50 % and 593

What you running yours at Phil?

WU is almost at 68K, speed is still climbing (currently ~4840GH average) at 600 while temp stays in at around 53 even with my current 81F ambient (it is still freakishly hot for the end of September-90F or slightly above outside).
HW error 0.0067%. it might be able to overclock, I think, or 600 (default) is optimal for this machine
Remember last summer S2 with WU at 14-15K using 1.1kw.
Gosh, i like scientific progress.

yeah it seems like higher freq net like 50-100GH at most.. but vs higher power draw it might not be worth it for such a small bump.

my troubled s7 running stock settings is slowly climbing after 1.5hrs its at 4725gh and 0.04% HW
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 25, 2015, 04:19:26 PM
has anyone tried any other freq settings?

ive got one that struggles, gets around 4750GH with 0.04 HW rate at stock settings..

and another that seems pretty beastly getting 4900GH at freq612 with 0.009 HW rate

edit: testing 606freq on the good one now, seems to be a sweet spot.. 0.006 HW and similar speed

edit2: also my 2 were pretty dusty. you can tell they werent new and have been running awhile.. even a little moth stuck inside

Pics: http://imgur.com/a/8wOjG

edit3: my second unit (the one that struggles) dropped to 4.66TH (which is what they were emailing ppl about)

So that $40 I had to pay was in fact a "brokerage" fee by UPS.. thats kind of lame they wouldnt tell me that over the phone yesterday instead claiming it was a import fee set by customs.  but the delivery guy told me its a brokerage fee.. and only 1 of my 2 packages had the fee.

oh well, even the delivery guy was kind of perplexed about why it was even there

time to set them up

So talked with a rep on the phone and it looks like US Customs flagged 1 out of 2 total packages and now I have to pay $39.74 in taxes / duties / import fees.

She said customs probably overlooked my other package which is why only one was flagged

I didnt realize we have to pay these fees in the US, and what a bunch of BS that 1 must have made it through without discrepancy, but the other requires this fee? when its the same damn thing

I thought we're not supposed to pay import taxes if it's under $2.5K.

Yeah I'm so confused.. I must be unlucky and/or got a shitty customs agent

Just saw this on my tracking from UPS "The receiver must pay the duties or taxes due on the package."

how much do I have to pay?  Im in Oregon, generally never had to pay any duties or taxes.. but never had anything sent this value before

This is really pissing me off!!!  I ordered nine (9) units myself.  I hope I don't have to pay a hell of a lot on top of what I already paid.  I would like to know what the tax/duties is for?  Damn government.

You shouldn't have to pay duties or taxes if you are in the US.
My tracking showed the same message but then it was later cleared.
It is now in transit currently located in Alaska.
Can't wait till tomorrow.

yeah mine is in alaska now too.. but the one still shows that msg..

chatting with a rep and he said

When it comes to the exception, it indicates that duties, taxes and brokerage fees have been applied to this shipment, the charge is $39.74. You can pay for this using a check or money order payable to UPS upon delivery.

whats weird is, the second unit i ordered doesnt have that note on the tracking at all.. only the first one.. and they are separate tracking numbers so its not a 2 package shipment.

WOW!!!  I've never seen this before either.  How many units did you purchase?  How much do they say you owe in duties/taxes?

i only ordered two... im not sure how much i need to pay.. im going to call them

271  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cat5e versus Cat6 on: September 23, 2015, 05:41:04 PM
What do I need to buy for my miners?  Cat5e or Cat6?  Thanks!

you only need 5e for mining.. since it doesn't take up much bandwidth at all getting cat6 would be pointless
272  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Would i be better off waiting for the 16nm miners? on: September 23, 2015, 04:34:21 PM
from what ive heard the 16nm chips are not that much more efficient than the 28nm fully custom BM1385

droid, do you have a source for the comment that 16nm is not much more efficient than the 28nm BM1385.

All the sources I have seen say there is a considerable performance difference, especially with the 16 nanometer 3D FinFET chips. The target figures at the chip level being quoted by KNC and Bitfury are 0.07J/GHs and 0.06J/GHs respectively.  The BM1385 is 0.216J/GHs.

Presumably only KNC knows the actual specs of the 16nm miners they seem to be rolling out.  The last 4 weeks have seen a 10-15 petahash  increase in the KNC pool.

In summary the 16nm chips could be between 2 and 3 times more efficient and likely around 0.1J/GHs at the system level.  But for the immediate future they will not be available to the public.

no sources, but ive heard from ppl who work at the local intel FAB that their 3D chips are having a prob with efficiency not being as good as they hoped.. plus the heat retention is nuts
273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 04:20:31 PM
sidehack needs to get some of these chips.. 137GH stick miner chip would be nuts.. prob not even possible with USB power
274  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 03:36:18 PM
man this thing is insane.. hard to imagine them coming out with a version for the home miner.. as zvisha said a few pages ago.. consumer mining is a dead horse, this sp50 and whatever else comes next in this large scale is the future.

I hope at least bitmain stays with the home centric gear
275  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 23, 2015, 03:25:04 PM
Pretty sure those of use who ordered S7s will never ROI. SP50s will destroy any chance we had with the massive difficulty increases they will cause.

i dunno, you gotta think people would be upgrading their large scale farms to sp50's which would take down existing gear.. diff will go up but it wont be massive.

unless of course said farms keep existing gear and just add on the sp50's.. or a plethora of new farm's come online
276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any Bitcoin accepted Store around you? on: September 22, 2015, 11:31:57 PM
yeah theres a few shops here... mainly coffee shops and whatnot that want to gain an edge over the competition

He may well still have some financial interests in the BTCS merger, even if he isn't employed full time there. We shouldn't be surprised if he doesn't respond.

yeah that makes sense, i guess we shall see

yeah but its bud.. makes the beer instantly suck, theres no way you could age this beer and expect it to be any good.. only for collectors i guess
