How about just getting a respberry PI for masternodes only and keep it offline?
I 've got one for the purpose of trying this out but have been sidetracked! Would be sweet to have your masternodes on a microsd card. Someone said that those cards have some increased chance of corrupting so it would be a good a idea to have multiple copies.

Congratulations to the new team members! Looks like the list of people you can't get away with talking trash to is getting big. Side note: When you search for "darkcoin foundation" on duckduckgo the title of the foundations official page shows as "Darkcoin Foundation - Just another Wordpress Site" https://duckduckgo.com/?q=darkcoin+foundation

Welcome Patrick McHardy to the team!
Patrick is a freelance Linux kernel networking developer and used to lead the netfilter project (http://www.netfilter.org) until 2013. He's been working on anything related to networking from firewalling, IPv4/v6-stack, QoS to DECT and GSM for the past 14 years.
He's also helped analyze the security of the Masternode network and was responsible for finding two recent security vulnerabilities in DSEE/DSEEP.
https://www.darkcoin.io/about/team-contact/ Awesome~!! Wow, I'm pretty stupid, but it looks like this project basically invented iptables and he is listed as a core developer, and in order to be a core developer you have to submit successful patches for a long period of time and be cool. I may have misread but it seems like he's a badass.

Are there plans for the foundation to setup masternodes with the funds they gather? May be a bit early for this question.
If they have the spare funds then I'm sure they will, no reason not to. It would be badass if they could get enough masternodes to have a healthy daily income. I'm sure that's in the plan somewhere.

LOL, good luck getting that 501 (c), the IRS is putting those in the back of the bottom drawer filing cabinet, LOL. (sorry, I couldn't help myself! LOL) Trying to find the sub-forum on DCT, Vertoe came up with a great idea last night and I want to pull the trigger, need the foundation's blessing first... The forum is not there yet. I talked about it with Propulsion and he was ok with it, but we had no specific date when we discussed. I've written him and I hope we can set that up in the next couple of days. Darksend Demonstration by EduffieldI think many critics of Darkcoin have very little understanding of how Darksend works and why it is better than cryptonote or ZeroKnowledge. This post from Evan from darkcointalk summarizes it very well and demonstrates Darksend for newcomers, please bump every few pages. Good post, bump. I was reading http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/quest-for-quantum-computers-heats-up/ and it reminded me to bump.

p2pool is already easier to use than centralised pools are. No registration or setting up workers, just point your miner at the nearest p2pool node with your Darkcoin address as your username and password anything. Added bonus that the pool op can't run off with or lose your money, plus lower fees. Anyway, solo-mining is a better option IMO, avoids the p2pool dust problem, and the Spreadcoin solution seems to work perfectly so far, and Spreadcoin is based on Darkcoin, just uses a slightly modified X11 algo to get rid of the centralising parasites. My pool needs no registration, DRK wallet for your worker name and anything for password and 5+ months of consistent payments speak for itself. Not to mention you can use SHA & Scrypt asic's to earn DRK. I can understand your passion for P2P but it isn't the be all end all. Cheers Your pool is kind of a special case. I am concerned about blockchain security, not miner income, because that's what users and investors will be concened about too. Nobody is going to put serious money into a currency that depends for security on 2 or 3 poolservers. Not ever. If DRK and other PoW coins don't address this they will remain nothing but toys. @lonecrouton I think your campaign has accomplished its goal of creating awareness about your view on big pools vs p2pool. I also think is unreasonable to expect big pools to disappear or to enforce something into the coin that will exclude them, in my opinion, free market should be king. I don't think anybody disagrees that having a larger percentage of hash power coming through p2pool is a worthy cause. Not everybody agrees on the apocalyptic view on big pools though, so looking to enforce something at the protocol level is not a good strategy for your cause in my opinion. People currently have the choice to use a big pool or p2pool if they want to, people choose to mine with big pools for a couple of reasons: 1. It is what they are used to do and know how to do it and they don't want to go through the hassle of learning how to do it through P2Pool. 2. Big pools have operators that have an interest in promoting their pool and making it attractive for people to mine with them. If you are really serious about this, I think your next action should be to resolve the above issues. Create the Darkcoin Friendly P2Pool guide, or create some sort of website/tool that makes it really easy for people to start mining with P2Pool, with a list of all available nodes and we can all follow that site like we do with drk.mn. Create drkp2pool.mn or something like that, and the site's first goal could be to get to 10% of the hashrate of the network, or something like that. I am sure a lot of people would support that, and people that create new p2pool nodes could easily register them to be promoted on the site. You could have a list of p2pool nodes that people can filter by location and a tool to test latency. I think something in the line of what I describe above could be successful and maybe one day we could see it at the top 3 with other big pools. That could be a great contribution to Darkcoin and a better strategy for your cause. Edit: I am thinking the site could include a tool that would ping the network and give the user their closest p2pool and the exact string they would have to paste on their miner to mine there or something. I don't know if this is possible, but I think it will really help to promote your cause. I'ma bit on the dumb side when it comes to mining. Do I just need to find the p2pool node with the lowest latency and point my small potatoes rig at it? I checked the guides in the mining section of DCT and didn't see anything about p2pool. Even if it is easy I think a guide and consolidation of resources is a very pragmatic idea. Let's push for 10% and then more!

Utter garbage. You won't see Evan in there, but monero's dev? All over it! Looks like the post is 2 days old and didn't get much attention.

wozzek that is the most torturous "music video" I think has ever been made. I left it running for a little while, moving the slider an hour along every minute or so to see what sort of effect it had on me. After a minute I started believing the walls of the room were closing in on me. After a couple of minutes I started unconsciously chewing the lounge chair arm off. After several minutes I realised it wasn't the lounge chair arm I'd been chewing and I'd have to now become left-handed. As I moved the slider to 9:59:00 to see if there was some sort of grand ending, I started thinking the Trololo guy was the sexist man alive. I've only just managed to extricate myself from almost going comatose. Don't ever post that again. I can't stop listening.

shojays a clown. He has become our punching bag because he deserves to be our punching bag. He keeps coming back because he is a die hard darkcoin fanboy and his desperate need to be accepted, but is such a contrarian twat that he can't seem to make anyone like him. The only thing that would be better than him showing up every 4 days to get rejected again would be if suddenly stopped showing up.

is it normal for a darksend transaction to some other drk address (directbet in this case) to show up as 'darksend collateral payment' as description and 'n/a' as address?
The funds did arrive at directbet anyways but i was just wondering.
edit: i was darksend mixing when sending the funds - maybe that matters(?) edit2: i am using the newest wallet version (.16)
I don't send funds when mixing, but I'm not sure if it matters and now want to know! I have not seen the transactions look like that for anything other than mixing purposes. Anyone have any insight?

For anyone who hasn't checked it out, denominating in v0.10.16.16 felt like perfect smooth sailing. It's basically free and progressed through the rounds much more rapidly, no errors at all. This was my experience at least.

using 16.8 on both remote and server plus I deleted peers.dat file but I get inbound port not open (but it is! always has been!) on my local and not capable masternode on my server instead of the usual debug message before you start remote. what could have changed? Thanks for any help!
I got this too and it stumped me. Mine started doing this on version 7, will try on 8. Humm, I just lowered maxconnections to 100 from 256, but no help (per something I read from Evan above...) I hope Evan hasn't left for the day yet! LOL Personnaly to check if port open I do : telnet IP 9999 You should see some hieroglyph. The message from Evan say to put 100+ (so must be higher than 100) I use a different method for checking ports but its wide open just like its always been, max connections set at 256 in the conf. I only updated an already working MN so it's not like starting from scratch, hadn't changed any firewall settings.
