Sorry to interrupt the speculation, but I've just made the perfect purchase and I wanted to share the good news Smiley

TorGuard (anonymous VPN) accepts Darkcoin!!

TorGuard is a well known VPN provider. They don't keep logs and support all protocols. They have integrated CoinPayments and now support DRK (and a bunch of other altcoins).

I was trying different services lately, but after seeing this, my decision was made. I have signed up to their service and paid with Darkcoin! I hated to see a few coins go, but it is also great to be able use them and show support. The price for their Anonymous VPN service is 5 USD per month if you pay annually.

This forum is sponsored by TorGuard's biggest competitor, Private Internet Access. Many of us asked them to accept Darkcoin recently and they didn't listen. We now have our alternative Smiley

I'm realizing that it seems we have at the moment, enough masternode setup guides to get everyone involved who wishes to be. Maybe next on the list as far as guides go should be on how to get involved on testnet. I can't pump it out tonight, but if no one beats me to it who is better suited I may give it a shot. There are a lot of new faces around and making it easy for them to help in the dev bug shoot would be a sexy little notch in someones belt.

...

I will be very happy to support you once my existing crowd funding exercise has finished, which hasn't gone too well mind you.  I honestly thought I would get the same level of support that Kristov Atlas got when we crowd funded his analysis, however then I realised, people are more likely to donate when they see something specific being done.

Let's make sure we extend the dev fundraising efforts into the era when anonymization has the stamp of approval again. I can guarantee some donations will free up! And thanks for your work.

I'm not 100% against the idea of subscriptions, i guess the foundation can do its bit and get some T&Cs together and limit the network's liability to the fee - you would have to agree to the T&Cs before you could use the service.

But, its moving away from the idea of cash and into the concept of banking.

The "subscription" could be paid to the miners. In that case, you're paying the mining fees, just all at once. That gets us pretty close to how it works currently.

Solution 3:

Pay per round of Darksend, in a separate transaction, paid directly to the miners as a fee. The masternodes would hold on to them and publish them later on. To double spend attack this, you would need to pay the miners more fees, so it's impossible to double spend against and it's timing attack resistant.

This sounds awesome.

Hmm I wonder if there is a way to use transaction locking to help with randomizing the fees. Have the number of blocks that the fees are frozen for be a randomized number between 3 and 8. The fee is not spendable anymore and will be deducted, but the transaction is off chain until the randomized amount of time? My brain hurts.

Maybe if we had the fee come out of the same wallet address that the mixed coins wind up in? That way you could only *connect the fee paid to the same address that is anon?

Long troll
You are a user who is not to be trusted under any circumstance. New comers will be warned about what you are as soon as you try to engage them. Pretty simple really.

Could someone help me determine
what the return is on Masternodes
as I have enough coins for a few
and not sure IF it's worth all the effort.

Much Thanks...

Sincerely,

MM

But would take longer, cost more? Or what's the catch?
Why would someone want to go for something higher than 100% confirmed?

Combine with multisig and you have the basis for multiparty temporal contracts. Tx locking on the long scale could be just as revolutionary (or at least useful) as on the short scale. Once locked, you have a guarantee that nobody (or no group) can spend the inputs for x blocks.

I think.  Tongue

Woah, Nice!

Testnet is going to be so much fun this time. If we stick with the shades of black for release names, I think the Instantx release will be a good time to unleash "Darkcoin Midnight"   Smiley

It's like, the MN is "vouching" by saying "ok, these coins have 6 confirmations" when they actually have none at the moment. Then, the MN ensures these coins cannot be double spent for the next 6 confirmations through the block chain (the regular confirmation process). Once it's there, I suppose the network takes over and we go back as usual.

In his demo, he chose 6 because that's what exchanges might want, but if you put 2, the MN will "vouch" for only 2 block chain confirmations, if you put 20 it'll last for 20 confirmations etc..

Of course, i'm using "vouch" here when it's actually all trust less.

I hope I'm not spreading wrong infos and that I was clear enough!

This helped for me thanks. I guess those coins stay locked for however many blocks that you have the setting for.

I do recognize where you are coming from, if anything I apologize i just want the best for DRK and everyone involved.
It's a tough one man. One way or another, I will mark that user for the rest of my life. To the detriment of my own reputation if need be. I can give a polite simple community warning, or whatever. But never will I let that reptile pass as human. If the questions come up, I'll refer them to the zip file of his fud.

What is your goal?  Because all you're doing is spamming the thread.  Everyone's read those posts.  I don't deny making them.

Letting new comers know what you are. End of transmission.

I downloaded every comment he ever made a while back so all his trolling is on file, forever.

I think you are doing more harm than good by reposting old stuff, specially now that we have so many newcomers in the thread. In this case they were talking about a scam unrelated to Darkcoin that was kind of uncalled for, just trying to be objective. Lets try to focus on the present and the future that is way better for everyone.

I respect your opinion a great deal, but think the injustice done to dark coin has had a great effect on where we are today. There is a ridiculous amount of misinformation about dark coin that has fervently been spread far and wide, and identifying the sources of that misinformation will make a lot of sense to the new comers that are wondering where the rumors came from. This is a clear cut case of someone lying about darkcoin to the benefit of no one but themselves, and to allow new comers to think this is a reasonable source of information would be a neglect of duty! Nonetheless, I've done my part, carry on.

What does that have to do with me warning people not to install a virus infected QT?

I thought about engaging you in a war of words but I have no desire to clutter the Darkcoin thread with more of that nonsense.  Please continue with your conspiracies regarding me and some alleged long troll. Kiss

Again... from shojay...

Darkcoin and it's largest holders in their greedy quest for masternode profits have become an entity similar to the banking Industry in the United States.  The elite masternode operators are allowed to collect a 20% tax from the miners.  But it gets better, they don't have to do anything to collect that tax.  Darkcoin has it's own network of tax collectors that go around intimidating pool owners into compliance.  These IRS Agents are very aggressive in their tactics.  Using images of men with guns and talking about coming after you if you don't pay.   Some have suggested disrupting their income by launching DDOS attacks.

Where are all the anarchists that were posting in this thread attacking me earlier?  Is this what you envisioned with Darkcoin?  An entity that is no different from Governments and the Big Banks?

Don't let the man bend you over and impose a tax on you.  Cryptocurrency is supposed to be a currency for the people without the constraints of taxes and government interference.  Darkcoin is none of those things.  Some masternode operators boast of making 1 btc in a week.  Where did that btc come from?  A TAX on miners.
