261  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Mt.Gox Multi-plaintiff Suit on: February 25, 2014, 05:44:36 PM
Another German here - not as much to claim, just about 2BTC but I'm still in since this is a lot of money to me, also provided we don't see any positive news over the next few days.
262  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: MtGox geht in Konkurs on: February 25, 2014, 04:29:23 PM
Oh. Da ist die Website wieder. Zwar nur ein "Hey, wir leben noch", aber.. hey, sie leben noch.
263  Other / Meta / Re: Wow, you people are messed up! on: February 25, 2014, 04:22:45 PM
Keep proving my points...

People who will never meet arguing about their egos. How is this even worth your time?!
264  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: MtGox geht in Konkurs on: February 25, 2014, 06:35:38 AM
265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Official End of Mt Gox thread on: February 24, 2014, 06:04:06 PM
Well, I can tell you as much as that the company is still in operation. I just received a reply to a customer service request (which had nothing to do with all this so its contents aren't relevant). It took ages, but obviously someone's still there doing customer service which doesn't guarantee but makes it more probable that everything is running sorta normally, relative to the circumstances.
266  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox removed their tweets. All. on: February 24, 2014, 05:45:02 PM
maybe because 100s of generic "hello, valued customer" tweets made them look bad. there was nothing interesting in there.
267  Other / Meta / Re: Wow, you people are messed up! on: February 24, 2014, 08:44:49 AM
Thanks for your feedback. Maybe I really should start blocking people that annoy me, maybe that helps. I'm however not going to copy some compiled list of supposed bad people, because this definition is most likely subjective and I'd rather decide for myself.

In my experience, the only people to insult this community were the ones who were trying to do it harm.

Yeah, of course. Criticism is always meant to destroy things. I'd rather see this place burn than try to make sense of it, that's why I put effort in starting this discussion. Roll Eyes

Why?

even users of 4chan and Newgrounds have better social behaviour...

I wouldn't go that far.

In any forum I like to follow the list of recent posts to see what's going on, and here, once you filter out the bazillion altcoins (not wanting to get into that atm), every second thread is, as I said, a troll party or similar. Okay, down in the internet gutter there's even more trolls, but.. I don't know, it's more ..predictable there? More fitting, maybe? When you go to the chans you know what to expect and somehow everyone more or less gets along - on a weird, disputable level, but they do. It's different. I don't really know how to explain better. When trolling takes place it's mostly creative and funny, people are doing it "for teh lulz" and for fucking with others' heads. Sure, content is often questionable, but as I said.. that's what you expect from the chans.

Here it's just.. everyone for themselves and against the rest of the world! It just feels like a place full of people talking to themselves while trying to make a profit off others. Maybe I need to take a look at the specific sub-boards instead of trying to make sense of the "recent posts" stream, maybe there's more 'culture' in some of those.
269  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Reason for all this optimism for mtGox? on: February 23, 2014, 11:48:54 PM
To me (yes, I'm stuck there) there's just no viable alternative to optimism right now. Coin withdrawals haven't been working as we all know, I've been unable to withdraw fiat until after the crash (waiting for bank account confirmation), and since it happened while I was asleep my coins went down in value so far that it doesn't make sense to try and cash out now. Either the gates reopen and I can get them out and recoup my losses or I might as well also lose the remaining few percent - the chance that withdrawals will resume is big enough for that risk, because there'd be (almost) nothing left anyway if they don't.
270  Other / Meta / Wow, you people are messed up! on: February 23, 2014, 11:40:49 PM
I know I'm going to step on some feet with this and I'm probably setting myself up for a medium-sized shitstorm in my direction, but I need to get my frustration out.

I came here because I thought I could get interesting info, have constructive disputes and generally read and talk about the progress and future of the cryptocurrency revolution.
What I got:
Scammers trying to dupe people. Liars and trolls spreading FUD, trying to profit off gullible people or just trying to cause havoc for fun. People hating on each other because they have different opinions, insults flying low and pitchforks seemingly always at the ready.

There also appear to be many nice people on here, but by swamping me with a big amount of insufferable posts the (hopefully false) first impression this board gave me and is bound to give anyone is this: Bitcoiners are a greedy, remorseless, partly psychopathic, immature, hateful mob. I am almost sure this is a false impression, but it's what it looks like! Seriously, I have never felt less sympathy for any forum, even users of 4chan and Newgrounds have better social behaviour... and with this kind of culture you want to run a revolution that is supposed to make the world a better place? I honestly fear for the outcome.

Maybe I'm just lurking the wrong subforums, or maybe I'm unlucky to find troll parties in every thread I click on. I hope it's something like that.

Please, someone restore my faith in this subculture!
271  Other / Off-topic / Re: Something As Revolutionary As Bitcoin Is About To Emerge, Net Failed To Notice! on: February 23, 2014, 09:56:18 PM
Hm. I would like to know more technical details.
Obviously this will use some kind of DHT for routing and finding data? How can it still be fast then (esp. in terms of ping)?
How much overhead will a user experience due to relaying other people's data streams?
How do you ensure only a certain user will be able to access their own account(s), what about the risk of those autologin credentials getting stolen via regular internet which the machine will obviously still be connected to?
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: seeing coins on the address in the block chain, but not in client???? on: February 21, 2014, 10:56:49 PM
Are you sure you really used the correct address? no typo etc.?
273  Economy / Speculation / Re: GOX ANNOUNCEMENT - No withdrawals yet! on: February 20, 2014, 01:00:59 PM
I am also wondering why no Japanese police starts investigating this issue.

Just cannot understand.  Huh

Maybe because first some Japanese people would need to go to the police and press charges.

something i noticed while waiting for the news from japan in BTC trollbox this morning -  a big dump happened about 30-60 minutes before the "news" was even announced. what are the odds that a dump happens just right before gox releases their statement? something smells fishy here. i smell a Karp.

Bots. Just before the dump the price randomly decreased a little and stayed there long enough to trigger sell orders - apparently big ones that caused a panic. I smell incompetence and loss of nerves @gox team and mostly paranoia @traders. I may be right or wrong, no idea.

definitely not bots.   bots dont make huge volume trades for no reason.  especially when there were only small trades happening the previous 24+ hrs.

depends. some EMA bots do. Nearly nothing happening for a long time => EMA lines converging - then a small but consistent dip => lines cross, sell everything.

Bad Science Joke Department reporting in!

What song do geologists dance to? Gneiss gneiss baby!

The mathematical functions hold a party. Everyone's having fun - the polynoms, the trigonometric functions, ... but the exponential function is crying in a corner. x² walks up to it and asks: "Hey, what's wrong? Why don't you try to integrate with the others?" - "I already did, it didn't work!"

What's the difference between engineers and structural engineers? Engineers make weapons, structural engineers make targets.
(This one is a blast, huh? Blast, get it?)

What does a major in philosophy enable you to do? You gain the competence to ask people why they want fries with that.

ok, ok, I'm leaving, sorry.

Good luck to your mother, may everything turn out well..
278  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: February 20, 2014, 07:24:31 AM
<opinion>Mm-hm, I must also say that I feel subscription fees should be what pays for continued development. If they just pay for server costs, there should be no initial purchase price. This would especially be true if the old bot would not receive any significant further updates. Maybe a small upgrade fee _could_ be justified (from a customer point of view, of course we don't know about your r&d/maintenance costs and profit margin).</opinion>

Then again: it's your business, so you decide on the price and the customers decide on the resulting demand.
279  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: February 18, 2014, 10:54:37 PM
Hi CC Smiley,
Alt strategies and indicators are part of a new bot not an upgrade. We we aren't sure how or if a discount plan will be implemented for existing license holders for the new bot, so it's hard to answer your question. I'm pretty sure there will be a discounted upgrade plan but I'm not exactly sure how it will work at this point.

Pablo.

Okay, understood - anyway: could I interrupt my subscription for the current bot for a while without having to repurchase it "from scratch" if market conditions improve to maybe make EMA feasible again?
280  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: February 18, 2014, 06:04:15 PM
I've turned the bot off at the moment - still stuck at Gox and I'm not going to let useless lossy trades ruin the profit I'll make as soon as withdrawals work again and the price instantly doubles (at least when I move to Bitstamp they will for me).

Also, I'm starting to not believe in this EMA business at all anymore since by now I'm down more than 50%, so here's a question: if I chose to not renew my license until the update with more indicators and strategies is available, would that still allow me to pay only renewal fees or would I need to repurchase the bot?
