What happened to the images in the top post?  They are all gone or blocked.

Yes, we found out early on that the Pi 3b drew more current than earlier models.  My Pi wouldn't boot when using the port on the R606.  So a separate P/S is required for Pi's.
263  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMiner 4.1.11 doesn't start mining until 2nd notify on: November 06, 2019, 10:41:10 PM
I don't know what your hash rate is but if it is low then the pool may be setting you to a high difficulty, which is normal, and it may be taking a while for your miner to find the high diff share before it adjusts down to a difficulty more reasonable for your hash rate.

mining.notify message

What do you mean by "mining.notify"?  I've never seen that message.

How to set the minimum difficulty when renting?

Just point your miner to: stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 or port 443

If you use an incompatible rental service that refuses to work on port 3333 try port 4334

Sidehack, thanks for the ./ explanation.  That makes sense.  I'm just used to the DOS/OS2 convention to always look in the current directory first.

not sure why I cannot keep mine up around 1 TH/s after a while it always goes back to 550 no matter what I have the voltage and/or freq set to. I wonder if it has to do with my usb? its not like its hot at my desk, the wife keeps the ac set to 71 its a freaking ice box in here lol

Are you still using Windoze?

Were you using a USB Hub, or are you plugging directly into the USB port?

about the pools I added a second pool server to cgminer, 'failover' should kick in in case the first pool drops, is this a good idea or is it best to just connect to one ? btw I am using de.ckpool.org:3333 and de.ckpool.org:443

Yes it's a good idea to have a backup pool or two.

But you are using the same pool just two different ports on that pool.  So that doesn't help for a  failover pool.

FOUND IT!!: its ./cgminer

not cgminer

Not sure what the ./ is supposed to mean, I guess I should research that, but it's a requirement for Linux.  Glad your working now.  However it's still a mystery where that old version of CGMiner came from.

Your S9 has probably been running a long time though.  And you can always get lucky Smiley

what do you guys think ? do you see any mistakes ? is there room for improvement or should I just let it be ?

should I dial down the r606 vcore voltages ? honestly I didn't get much of a difference by jumping up from 430mV to 460mV.

What frequency are you telling the R606 to try for?  You should be able to do the stock 550Mhz on voltage level 4 and save allot of power.  I would shoot for a target of 750Mhz.

Are you using a USB hub?

[...]

What directory are you doing the "./cgminer" from?

What am i doing wrong here?

Not knowing what you did it's hard to say what you did wrong.  I don't see how you could have followed the Top Post instructions nor mstroziers instructions, by using copy and paste, and ended up with 4.9.2.  I have followed both sets and have gotten the latest CGMiner each time.
270  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: October 13, 2019, 09:04:25 PM

I've not seen that command in any instructions.

Follow the official instructions in the top post or the more step by step instructions found here

I am looking at the latest version for desktop 19.04, is this one ok or should I go with the previous version 18.04 ?

From what I understand the odd versions are like betas and the even numbers are the supported releases.  I would go with the 18.04 LTS (Long Term Support) version.

Those look like instructions for building CGMiner.  But I don't know anything about Mac stuff.  Search through the thread, I think somebody got it to work on a Mac but I don't know how successful they were.

You would probably be better off using Ubuntu or a Pi 4.
273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: October 07, 2019, 10:36:23 PM
You need to use the version of CGMiner VH made for the Gekko equipment which is linked on the top post.  Regular CGMiner does not work with the R606 or sticks. Also the version you are trying to use is ancient so it probably doesn't work with anything current.
274  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NovaBlock, The Most Profitable Mining Pool on: October 06, 2019, 01:27:44 AM
the set amount should be going up, not down. its dropped almost 6% in two weeks. If they are doing this well, I would think it would be higher but I do understand that with PPS it is just the set amount - the only problem with any PPS pool is that it constantly changes, so you really have to check it each day.

Pay Per Share payouts are calculated per each difficulty period.  So PPS Pools payout less each difficulty period when difficulty increases or more if difficulty decreases, which is very rare.  PPS does not change each day.

So if the last difficulty period increased by 6% then that would account for the 6% decrease in payout.  Difficulty gets recalculated approximately every two weeks.

Thanks very much for the info.  I've added a question 6 to my previous post...what do you think to adding the --btc-address xyz for soloing as per the readme?

"--btc-address" is required for solo mining to your local Bitcoin client.  If you are solo mining to a solo pool like solo.ckpool.org it is not required since that is a pool and not your local bitcoin client.

Your R606 numbers look good and inline with what I get at power level 5 on my batch 2 unit.

2.  ASIC's have always gotten Hardware faults, that is pretty much a characteristic of ASIC's.  I don't even look at them anymore as long as my hashrate is decent, and yours is.

3.  You shouldn't need to worry about setting a minimum difficulty for any decent pool.  That setting is just so that an ASIC doesn't flood a pool with diff 1 shares before the pool adjusts to a reasonable value.  Most good pools start at a high value and adjust to a reasonable value that produces around 18 shares per minute. So don't worry about it and let the pool adjust it as the pool will do the adjustment regardless of what you set anyway.

5.  With Gekko gear you need to se VH's versions of CGMiner "."

I do not have the + after is says 2 chip(s) found.
I'm reading the entire thread. Its teaching me how much I do not know. lol pg 20 and 40 more to go

Take the hub out of the mix for now, if that doesn't help with AB then try a test run on solo.ckpool.org as we know that supports AB correctly.

-When I put --gekko-newpac-boost at the end of my syntax(I believe this is what its called) and start cgminer. It says this is unrecognized. how do I fix this?

ASIC Boost is on by default.  There is only a command to disable it for pools that have an incompatible implementation.  You should see a + after the number of chips recognized which denotes AB is enabled.  Read the top post.

I am new to mining, bought a newpac and am following the installation manual, the cgminer link in the bitcointalk forum only goes to an error page.

These links?  They work fine for me.

Windows : cgminer.exe (download and extract the 7z file below)
