261  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria is set to join BRICS in May 2024. on: March 11, 2024, 07:27:44 PM
Nigeria joining the BRICS may not bring about all round solution to the economic debacles faced by the country , worst of it is the issue of the constant depreciation of the Naira against the Dollar that has been so suppressive to the currency in the international market, but to a large extend such marriage with the BRICS  will foster a much economic growth to Nigeria's strengthening the Naira since both local and international trades will be dealt with using the naira, unlike the dependency relations or the unequal relations  between naira -dollar.

Questions:
1) Why are you not doing deals in naira with other countries right now?
2) What is stopping you buying things from China or Iran or Afghanistan or India with nairas?
3) If nobody wants your naira now because it's worthless and you can't keep it for two days without losing 10% why would anyone accept it after you joined BRICS?

Additional question
If BRICS would help you prop the country currency against the dollar why has the Iranian Rial lost 90% of its value in 4 years?

More importantly, the dependencies condition's from these capitalist countries of the West and Europe through the IMF and World Bank  that have create certain vestiges on Nigeria economy and Africa at large will gradually wither off, because the moment Nigeria is liberated of these vestiges that has been behind the curtain of this unequal interdependence between (Nigeria) Africa and the West conditioning development in the Southern pole by the development and expansion of theirs. Other African countries will follow suit and greater economical change will be felt in the strength of African countries currency's and in all other socioeconomic aspects of the society. I think of the BRICS as a necessary evil Nigeria must be a part of for the sake of her currency strength.

Yeah, worked wonders for South Africa

But be my guest, keep "liberating" yourself, just don't forget the on all fours pose when begging the west to come back like Zimbabwe did!

BRICS is an ambitious project that tries to challenge the dominance of Western economies and especially of the USA.

I always find it funny how it's always labeled western alliance  Grin

You have made your own point clear and hownit suites positively in favour of where you're coming from but the undeniable truth which is not born out of any form of sentiments still remains that the relationship between the West/Europe and those countries of the African continent is widely unequal favourable to the the Northern pole alone.  Like I have said time without number, Africa suffers from  bad leadership that's clothed in greed and this greed has made the leaders to perpetually perpetuate the unequal relations of dependency. Paul Baran in his Political Economy of Growth explains a lot even to a layman's understanding about these developmental issues.

I certainly not against the West or Europe but in the light of things when we continue doing same thing and expecting a different results, it's an act of madness, and that's what makes it necessary for dynamic change in the economical relations of Africa as a whole and not just a unit of Zimbabwe or whatever.

263  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria is set to join BRICS in May 2024. on: March 09, 2024, 06:56:45 PM
BRICS organisation X account made a tweet on Friday which reads 'Nigeria will apply to join BRICS in 2024'. Nigeria has been going through a lot of economic challenges which have caused double-digit inflation and the depreciation of the country's currency the Naira. One of the problems of the country is its over-reliance on the dollar for imports. The dollarisation of the Nigerian economy has put pressure on the Naira causing it to lose much value.

Joining BRICS might not be the only solution to the economic recovery of the country but it will contribute to its economic recovery. This is because if Nigeria eventually becomes a member of BRICS, the West African country would be trading its major exporting product which is oil in Naira and also paying for exports with its local currency, thereby reducing reliance on the dollar.

265  Other / Off-topic / Re: specialty or "Jack of all trade? on: March 09, 2024, 02:21:07 PM
What's your view on this? Is it best to be a specialist in a chosen field or tilt to being the jack of all trades?
There is a paramount reason why it is said, 'a jack of all trades, a master of none. A specialty has a mastery of that which he's specialized in, while a jack of all trades only has a scope of knowledge in different areas and can't be compared to those that are specialty each to those areas, there knowledge is broad.

When someone with knowledge about a program is need a jack of all trades can be called upon, but when the service of a specialty in that area is needed a jack of all trades wouldn't fit it.
266  Economy / Economics / Re: How can it be possible coping with one source of income on: March 09, 2024, 02:04:38 PM
It is very possible to live and cope fine with a single source of income, what is expected in that condition is to discipline oneself to living within the boundaries of what his income could afford and make accessible to him/her. With a good financial planning a single source income earners could make a better life for himself than a multiple sources income earner who's extravagant and wayward in spending. Life is all about budgeting and planning and when you fail to do so, no matter your sources of income you can't be able to cope satisfactorily well.

It’s not advisable to have a single source of income. It may be possible to live and cope fine with a single source of income but with the rate of inflation, your single income would start to be looking small for and wouldn’t be enogh anymore to keep up with living expenses.
How much you earn would be a good determinant on your lifestyle and even if you earn a whole lot of money, it would start to tell on your pockets later on with the rate of inflation and inflation with the prices of goods and services skyrocketing, it’s advisable to have a second means where income incomes in.
Didn't say a single source is advisable or recommendable to relax on with but in a condition where there's only available source of income a frugal lifestyle can be employed to use for an individual or a family man and it will still go to a great length in meeting their needs even under the current state of inflation right now. Moreover, not all that have two or three sources of income might be earning big put together in total, there are persons with a single income source whose earning could be 2x bigger than some others with a multiple income. The bottom line is that, spend according to your income level and Yu won't have a much pressure to complain or worry on.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake loses $615k bet on Joshua-Ngannou bout on: March 09, 2024, 09:15:25 AM
It's the infamous drake again and am not shocked as he's very known for a history of serial gambling losses, although I feel sad for his loss. However, am sure despite how much huge the amount he stakes with was big for some of us, to him Drake it's an amount he can afford to lose going by his financial status and record.

Ngannou was a classical disappointment as many fans had lots of faith in him to pull some strings but he could even go pass a two round and got knocked down by a single punch from Anthony Joshua in the second round that got him glue to the ground.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 08, 2024, 10:32:42 PM
But if Manchester City fails to beat Liverpool on Sunday, it will be difficult for them to top the Premier League table because Liverpool can end up at the top of the Premier League table until the season's end.
Any club that loses the match might not be able to win the premier league again this season, because as we can see, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal are not ready to drop point this season, those three clubs are playing well, so any club that can drop from their current position, they might find it difficult to climb the table back.
That match on Sunday between the two is what can be described as the decider of the EPL winner this season for whoever wins on Sunday. If Liverpool wins they will be 4 points ahead of City, perhaps Manchester City wins they will be 2 points ahead of Liverpool, and in the next matches ahead after this it's very unlikely that any of the team will be losing points as they have manage to either draw or beat those tough teams that would have  obstruct their points. If clopp want to end his career in Liverpool with an EPL trophy this is the match that will decide that on Sunday.
269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I just woke up and saw wins in my gambling app on: March 08, 2024, 09:44:48 PM
I know this is not a new experience for many old gamblers that has been into gambling, but for me it's a new one, I've played a game over a week ago and I didn't even bother to check cause I never expect it to play out or let's say I mostly forgot since it was a busy week, just yesterday I logged it to check out the booking code my friend sent to me so I could fund my account and try it, the nest thign i saw from sporty was a win on my screen, I was shocked thinking it as a network glitch or something then I went to check my balance I had just won some cash, I was happy.

And worst of it, I never expected that game to play it was a rare case of I just tried my luck.

This is another reason why gambling can not be a job or anything like a source of income cause you can't know your games would play out and no predictions is ever accurate.

If you have such experience share it with us let's see the luck guys around.
I can't recall having this kind of experience with any bet wins, but something that came to my mind about you while reading this post is that you used the amount of money that you can afford to lose and that is why you couldn't bother to check on the games neither worry about the results later on. And that's the  peace of mind that comes with gambling responsibly in terms of the amount we use to gamble unlike when we make use of a large sum that we can't let go. Congratulations to you on your win, keep gambling responsibly.

Through out last year I find it hard to get things done with funds despite how my earning was and I find it hard to spend more on my bills around me , though I have been seeing some humans earning and paying bills with one source of income and I do ask myself how is it done

please your advice will be of help

Very possible but you would really be living on the most standard way of living on which everything in budget and really very right. It would be also basing up on the situation because on the time that you do already have a family to feed then this is where story would really be starting to change on which you would really be needing to adjust according into it because if you do have some mouths to feed then it would be totally affecting out
overall about your budget and you would really be surely get short in terms of that. This is why it would really be that best that you should really know on what you are doing because if you are really just sticking into a single job or source of income and seen that you are already that overdropped ? then it would really be that common sense that you would really be looking up for something more.

It would really be just that depending into some individual on how they would really be hovering themselves in speaking about such life condition on which we do know that
majority of us really that having this kind of problem.
Majority of the world's population are surviving under a single source of income status and these are people that are with family, that's children and wife and are still able to take care of their family with that single source of income as it comes either monthly or weekly, it therefore doesn't make a difference if you're single or married with children in the proper maximizing of a single income. If you can be able to know and differentiate the family needs from wants then surviving is possible with that source. The only importance of multiple sources is that you can be able to access and get your Wants and Needs altogether without drop one for the other because the multiple sources can take care of it all at once.

272  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Telegram wallet now has p2p on: March 07, 2024, 09:34:05 PM
I use telegram and am yet to see any feature related to that on mine, but just to advise you better on this, i will say that using a telegram generated wallet is an unsafe practice to do, I've also seem some browsers that does so, but you will have to do this at your own risk and i think they could be even more danger to use than the centralized exchanges because you can easily be hacked and these are not wallets they provides you with the private keys to your funds on the blockchain, just be careful.
That actually true, that is the reason why I don't make use of it often, I just try it only ones and it work fine and fast, just as I said before. But still you are right I won't advice anyone to hold their asset in such platform, because it might not be safe that why I posted it concerning p2p. Putting huge amount in such wallet is not also advisable too. Just felt like updating you guys about it.
Despite how much I hate making use of CEX I could say they are a necessary evil in certain times, even as that,  we should seek to make use of CEX that we have at least a convincing level of confidence on for our p2p trades , it should always be in the habit of transfer and trade ASAP and never to hold coins in them to avoid been a victim in any of it's doom's day, maybe a did done by the cex itself or outsider hack.

OMG, have just finished typing this post, and Slavia Praha also scored a goal.  Grin Grin
Milan - Slavia Praha
    1    -      1

in minute 40
Slavia Praha were very good, started the game very well, they were able to force AC Milan into defending, but after the red card to one of their players, the deficit reduced their advantage. AC Milan were able to make sure that they take good advantage of the ten men and score enough goals before the coach of Slavia will have the opportunity to make the halftime changes. AC Milan are very good scoring with their head.
A red card has the capacity of destabilizing a team initially intended playing pattern and form thereby forcing the deficit team to fall back to a defensive position with a less attacking moves. And this is what Slava Prague is experiencing tonight and AC Milan on their part has capitalized on the advantage to take a lead with a 2 goals difference. What Prague can do best in this game is to tighten it defence to avoid conceiving more goals because they don't have business in winning this game tonight counting on the pressure Milan is mounting on them due to their one mad down disadvantage.

275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: March 07, 2024, 08:51:40 PM
Ive been hearing about situations where someone buys a coin for a certain rate and not quite long after,  the said coin drops in value, or  someone sells his coin for a certain rate and then it appreciates just after.
What's your take on this? Given the period we're in is it buy time or sell time?
Volatility in the market is what we can't trap in a vacuum which is why even after much of research and with your analytical conclusion you still have to tread the market with caution because you can lose so much within a twinkle of an eye and also still can make profit within that twinkle. In as much as we can't see the future let me ready to accept whatever  event that happens after we might have taken a decision in this crypto space, with this we can be able to Dela with regrets and move forward for another trial again hopefully.
276  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dont sell because you feel like selling, give it another thought. on: March 07, 2024, 08:43:48 PM
Yes, I will say it again and again! Don't sell because you want to sell, or maybe others are selling, and if you feel you have made some profit, then you must sell. My dear, give it a second thought. If you don't have a genuine reason for selling, like a deep need for money, or if you want to sell to buy luxurious things when you know that the price of bitcoin has more potential than what it has shown,.

My rule of thumb is, sell if necessary, not just to make profits, but sell when you really need to. Maybe there something important that you need money and regardless of what the market is going to, you have to do it because of emergency.
Agreed, sell when necessary, especially at a demanding need or emergency that required to be met immediately but saying not just for profit makes me want to question the real essence of the holding for long and later calmly want to sell at a loss. What's the need for investing if am to later sell it at a loss. Am sure you won't agree to sell at lost after a long hold.

278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indirect victims of gambling addiction on: March 07, 2024, 08:13:37 AM
As with any addiction, the effects of addiction to games of chance and betting do not fall on the gambler alone. It affects the family, friends, relatives, and everyone around him, and may lead to the deterioration of their conditions.
Gambling indeed has many impacts on its users, but apart from negative impacts, positive impacts have also been felt by the users themselves, including family, friends and also the surrounding environment..
You have just dropped a piece that I have been on with, pondering about it whenever I read about gambling addicts. Is it that they prefer the negative aspect of the impact of gambling on them tuan the positive that a whole lot of gamblers that are not addicts are testifying of . In as much as you don't have to be an addict for you be guaranteed a lump win in gambling I see no reason why gamblers should allow themselve's into addiction.
Its because that is mostly the end game of those gamblers, they will eventually end up being addicted just because they let themselves to let loose and let their greed to take over, but sometimes what's making gamblers addicted is because of tthe regret of losing money from gambling and they will try to recover their loss and eventually without a notice that they are letting themselves to become addicted to gambling, but for those addicted to gambling that letting other people around them involve because of his addiction is the worst, it means that the gambler is not in a good state anymore because he doesn't carr about other people around them, normally their family and friends, worst if they already have their own family imagine the situation that family will be in.

So if you can't control yourselves anymore, at least don't let other people be affected and involved in your problems; they may help you, but if they do wake up, it means they are ready to be involved in your chaotic life just to help you.
it's for the avoidance of the chase of loss to recover money that gamblers are extolled to gamble with the money they won't find hard to let go at a loss of it. The venture for a recovery of money lost while gambling has a very percentage of causing more loses than it can lead to a recovery and this is something past experience and stories of gambler's has proven. Yet some gamblers don't want to learn from those experiences.

Let me speak like a political theorist; politics in the real sense of it is not in the way Op has expressed it to be, it's actually a process of making peace exist within the society, the even distribution of resources and values to society as David Easton posit it. Unfortunately, the so-called politicians are doing the opposite and this is because almost all society's today many people that go into politics for political positions in government do so in their self interest, to pursue and accumulate personal wealth and they do all manner of atrocities and illegalities to sustain their position and ambition. And this attitudes has made people believe that politics is a dirty game due to ithe characters of it's actors.
