261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Get one btc right away or 5 btc with a bet? on: March 12, 2024, 07:29:44 PM
I will take 1 BTC right away without thinking twice about it. I doubt there is anyone that will go with the option of 5 BTC with a bet, that does not really sound wise. With the 1 BTC, I can set aside 0.1 BTC for betting will keeping 0.9 BTC safely in my wallet while I think about what to do with the money. The moment I discover what to do with the money like buying a land or investing it into any business, it is entering there already. I can attempt to build the 0.1 BTC to that 5 BTC, it is possible but I do not care if it is lost because by then I will be gambling with what I can afford to lose.
262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A personal view on: March 12, 2024, 07:18:05 PM
I've been around a lot of gamblers and you would find them in all their types according to what they say and do, and there there several arguments and views that they have on different issues, and I'd like to hear your on them too.

👉behind the mask of loving to gamble if you get rich would you still gamble or never again?

Once a gambler always a gambler as that old saying goes.Of course though once you get rich you would think twice to gamble again as from your gambling experience you would have come to some conclusions which overall you would be losing money in the long run and getting rich is something that happens extremely rarely.I personally would stop gambling right away though as I know people who have won lotteries of multi million dollars and still managed to ruin their lives because of their gambling addiction, bad friendship and relatives and many other things that impacted their life,so once you get rich put the money in the bank and call it a day.

Most people often delude themselves that they could leave old habits just like that especially when it was part of what get them rich, I've heard some notorious gamblers that indulge often say if I win a huge amount I won't gamble again but yet when they do they would only increase their stake and even plan to stake more than they do before.

So yeah most people would say they won't but we all know deep down that we would
Most gamblers always use this line to motivate themselves and make it appear like they have a target in their gambling business. Unknown to them is the fact that once you are committed to gambling, it becomes part of you and you can only control your involvement and not stop out rightly especially when you succeed in hitting the jackpot. It is the control that makes one able to utilize winning properly and also what differentiates an addict from none addict. I even noticed that those who plans to quit when they win big money never win the kind of money they target, it is always little wins, some loses and such sequence. Huge wins from gambling always come when not expected, that is the strange thing about gambling.
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: March 12, 2024, 07:39:08 AM
It cannot be denied that buying and holding bitcoins is the safest way to invest in bitcoins, but for those with the ability and skills to trade, trading to increase the amount of bitcoins is not so bad. Just because we can't win at trading doesn't mean everyone is like us. I have a friend who makes a living as a day trader and so far he's been fine. It can be said that everyone has different skills, so we should know who we are and what our strengths are so that we can make appropriate choices that bring the best benefits to us. Don't imitate others just because they are successful that way, each person has a different path to success.
I don't think they were trying to conclusively decide for everyone, they where probably mapping out dangers from their own perspective on the dangers, stress and anxiety to be faced while doing more of trading than holding. What now causes majority people to trade is due to greed and lack of patience to hold for long time, they quickly want to earn profits not even test running if they are capable of doing it and we can see some of them at the very end left with nothing to talk about.
I don't think it is correct that majority of those involved in Bitcoin traders because if you smell the air, you will realise the number of people actively trading Bitcoin have diminished so much following the transition of many traders to short term holders, who I think are in the majority now.

Most people hold just within Bitcoin market cycle of 4 years, buying during the bear season and selling during the bull market like some are already doing now. Some of the whales go about Bitcoin investment this way as well.

Following the realisation that long term holding is actually the best, many people are gradually tilting towards that direction just like it happened between trading and short term holding.
264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: March 11, 2024, 06:18:41 PM
those who like to move to altcoins when they make a profit from selling bitcoin are not worthy of being called a holder, they only make profits from using bitcoin as a means, some whales actually use this method to pump several altcoins in a structured manner
Yeah, your right. I think the main reason they are fucking buying those shitcoins is because they want to diversify there portfolio.
I don't think that is the reason they have, they are ignorant of what shitcoins can do to their finances. If you see the passion and optimism in them when analysing and investing in their chosen shitcoins, you will understand why I said they are ignorant and never learn from experience. Well, history have always repeated itself and that will not change now.

The present bull run have also created so much hype around some shitcoins. Many people are already throwing in good amounts of money into them and it is only a matter of time before we start knowing about the level of losses to scam people have incurred this period.

Investment in BItcoin is always safer and better anytime any day. Those going for shitcoins should be responsible for what happens to their money and should never use their experience to generalise and talk ill about Bitcoin.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you prefer betting your own predictions or from prediction site on: March 11, 2024, 10:31:41 AM
Some prediction sites can actually be very helpful with their free services. I have used them in the past  and won but the problem is the consistency of their prediction which was not as much as I expected. So what I do sometimes is to make some adjustments to their predictions and this has improved the win rate even though sometimes those adjustments spoils the game. Although my major bets are usually my personal predictions. Gambling has to be taken personal and one need to be intentional about it if consistency must be achieved.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has this ever happened to you as a gambler? on: March 09, 2024, 02:40:02 PM
What could cause a gambler to place a bet to the extent that he no longer has money to pay for the games he played?
You don't need to be told that this is a result of gambling addiction. It is only addiction that can make a gambler spend all his income on the gambling shop and still play extra hoping he will win to pay the debt. This is only possible in physical shops though because online gambling will not allow a gambler gamble above his account balance.

This story happened in my presence on Friday, when I visited a physical betting shop to book some games after that my battery ran down in the process of trying to place some bets with my smartphone to bet on a game that will kick-start in some minutes. There I was, there was this gentleman who was there before me playing the visual game and to cut the whole story short at the end, the gambler started having issues with the person who placed the games for him, reason being that after playing the visual game the gambler no longer has the money to pay the person, and he optioned to dropping his smartphone until when he brings the money and the money amounts to about $15+ and this lead to the owner of the shop inviting the police to settle the matter.
This is a regular happenings in physical shops in my neighborhood. There are some people that spend most of their times daily in a gambling shops looking for who to assist them with cash to place their games after losing all they have. They are mostly those who plays virtual games that are settled very fast.

So the question now is: What could really put a gambler in such a situation, addiction, or greediness?
The truth is that this kind of character create bad impression about gamblers, many people see gamblers as destitutes due to the activities of these people that have not first figured and plan their finances before getting too deeply involved in gambling.
267  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dont chase your loss on: March 09, 2024, 02:12:56 PM
It is best you gamble when necessary not because you want to chase your loss and win back you money, many are victim of this circumstances and for me is a bad practice and this might make you not to employe your gambling skills and roles because you inhast in your decision making. What is your opinion on this?
I think this is one of the gambling habits that we have spent so much time discussing on how to avoid. Chasing losses is a very bad habit that every gambler must endeavor to avoid because it does not always end well. I have done this before and I kept sinking in losses, the more I gamble the more I lose because I was not thinking straight and the mistakes were just too much. The best is to know when to stop gambling especially when one come to the realization that luck is not on his side for that day. Using a series of loses as a yardstick could help in determining how lucky the day is. For instance, if after playing 5 hands there is no single win, a gambler should be able to know that that day is not a lucky day and the best is to stop instead of continuing the gambling session.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: March 09, 2024, 10:15:35 AM
This is a normal practice for newbie gamblers and I doubt there will be any exception. It is usually a habit for gamblers to try their lucky when they do not have sufficient amount, hoping to win and solve their needs. It is interesting that it is almost 98% certain that the last cash will be lost. This is the reality that many people would not want to come to terms with. I have done last cash bets many times and I lost all. I stopped doing that when I started making gambling budgets in that case, when I don't have sufficient cash or hope of getting cash, I don't come close to gambling. That way I don't get close to gambling with my last cash.
269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 09, 2024, 10:11:29 AM
Aston Villa - Tottenham is such a tough game to predict as far as I can see.  Sad  Firstly Aston Villa played a Conference League game against Ajax two days ago. However Emery rotated the squad quite much for that game thinking about their Tottenham game ahead. Watkins played for 90 minutes so maybe he might be a little tired now.

Aston Villa beat Tottenham by 2-1 away before if you don't remember. At Tottenham side Richarlison and Pedro Porro's condition is not certain. Tottenham's recent form hasn't been very well honestly and I don't feel like they can win this game. But rather than betting on a side I have bet on both teams to score.  Smiley
Many people will not know that this will one of the most interesting match in the English Premiership this weekend. Ordinarily, Tottenham will be seen as the better side and many people will go for them to win but a little look at their past meetings shows that Aston Villa have been a terror for Tottenham. It will surprise many to know that Aston Villa have defeated them in that last 3 Premiership meetings both home and away. In the current season, Aston Villa have also been doing well whereas Tottenham have not really lived up to the expectation of their status as a big team.

With the scoring pattern of both sides, this might be a very tight match with many goals. Many pundits are predicting a draw and it it happens that way, they it will surely be a score draw. Overall, I expect a very entertaining match that can pull a lot of surprises
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing into Bitcoin as self pension on: March 08, 2024, 03:52:29 PM
This would have been possible for me as I have this figured out but there is a law in my country that makes pension contribution compulsory and only to selected banks. I have made inquiries to know if it is possible and realised it isn't possible to switch to my preferred choice. So what I have been doing so far is to set aside part of my income for DCA outside the mandatory pension contribution. For people in Liberal countries, I think using Bitcoin investment for pension purposes is very much possible.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 08, 2024, 07:38:37 AM
Especially on sports betting we see some racism happening and this happened in most of the league that are popular of which so many persons bet on. It bothers me to ask, that imagine you placed a bet and somehow you have 80% assurance that it would come out successful. And on the process of waiting for the game to end there was some racism manipulation in the game which made you lost the game. It could be football or other sports cause its mostly found in sports.

Next time would you choose to not bet on a particular game because you feel the members of the VAR, or the referee are racist, and you are sure that there would be some manipulation?
Thank you for bringing this up because it has become a thing of concern to me. I noticed that in some leagues, the home team will always win whereas it is not like that in other leagues. I have tried asking questions in the past and I was told that the officials do their best to favor the home sides in order to save their head. I don't know if this can be called racism though.

Even the bookies usually give smaller odds to the home side irrespective of the strength of the away team. So to avoid losses, I usually avoid leagues where I notice this to be a norm. I want to play matches that I know there is fairness in the officiating as that will make me relaxed that the match will follow prediction.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any meme coin has the ability to challenge bitcoin dominance ? on: March 08, 2024, 07:30:18 AM
In last one week, coins like pepe rose by 400% or more. There were other meme coins like dogecoin and shiba inu also growing fast. Lot of bitcoin users would now feel tempted to move their funds to these meme coins for higher profit. At such, do you think that any meme coin has the capacity to challenge bitcoin dominance ?
If there is anything that will challenge Bitcoin, why will it be memecoins? What do memecoins offer? I see memecoin mostly from the angle of entertainment,  I mean something those involved just use to entertain themselves and make themselves feel hyped and pseudo-happy. There is no sustainability in memecoin.

Those who are highly experience and focus on the utility of any coin they put money into only use little fraction of their income for memecoins because they know that the risk in them is multiplied. They can die any day their founders decided that they are satisfied with the money they have made from them. It takes just few of the founders to dump their holding and everything will crash.
273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Simple mistake that makes you lose everything on: March 08, 2024, 07:13:21 AM
I might not have made the mistake you just shared but I think every gambler gave his way of losing owing to simple mistakes that usually become clear when the event have been settled. Personally, I have had countless number of losses that are dependent of mistakes. For instance, there have been days I lose simply I want to get x5 when my favourite could only offer x2.

There was a time I played sports betting and had the bet spoilt by over0.5 goal with an odd of 1.05 even when my mind was telling me to remove that particular event from my slip. I think that mistake is normal and what makes gambling what it is.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are people still using bitcoin ATMs? on: March 07, 2024, 09:48:00 PM
Bitcoin ATM was very popular in the past when the one in my country came on board, the excitement was too much. Unfortunately,  it stopped working and the news about Bitcoin ATM started fading away. I don't know if it will be fair to conclude that that technological innovation is phasing away with the news because should it still be fashionable, we would have been seeing posts about it even in this forum. People would have been dropping their experiences with the machine regularly
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: March 07, 2024, 08:09:29 PM
Like Real Madrid for example as you rightly said the club lack a good striker to deliver the goals, ever since Bezema left that wife, there have not been any good replacements, which is why the club either settles for draw or lose, this is effecting the club greatly in this season.
Even though I'm tempted to agree with you, I think Real Madrid is doing just fine with the advantage of having so many players scoring for them instead of building the entire team around a striker. The few past matches has seen Vinicius Junior, Joselu and Jude Bellingham all scoring great goals that produced good results for Madrid unlike before that all attention will be on Benzema to do the scoring. Even if Real Madrid misses a quality striker like Benzema, I think they have already evolved. Their result is really not that bad because they are still at the top of the La Liga table with 7 points clear from their closes rival Girona. The are still very much in the Champions league tournament so what more could they be asking for? In my opinion, Real Madrid is doing very fine.
276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: March 07, 2024, 06:37:43 PM
Sparta Prague host Liverpool at home.Sparta Prague managed to eliminate Galatasaray, but they are not a team that can do much against Liverpool.I think Liverpool will go through, but at home at least they will show some resistance against their opponent.
Roma will be looking for a win against Brighton.Roma have improved in recent weeks and continue to get good results under De Rossi.Their aim here will be to at least finish the season with a trophy.Brighton are a tough opponent for them, but they will not lose at home against their rivals.
I think they have met their end with Liverpool, such an unfortunate situation.  They are 3 goals down as at first half; an early penalty scored by Alexis Mac Allister and a 25th 45+3 minute goal scored by Darwin Nunex sealed their fate. If they can be this humiliated in their home, you should know what awaits them at Anfield. Anyone paying attention will understand that Liverpool have adjusted so much in terms of their playing and scoring pattern. Now most of their goals is being scored by Darwin Nunex when everybody is looking at Mohamed Salah. If this continues, Salah might finally conclude his move to Saudi Arabia for a share of the oil money.
277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indirect victims of gambling addiction on: March 06, 2024, 10:26:07 PM
Of course, there are many indirect victims of gambling addiction. Can you add more?
When gambling addictions lead to failure in delivering on ones responsibilities and a rapid change in character that make others uncomfortable, then there will be many victims, most of whom might not even been considered to be victims. For instance, a situation where the addicted gambler becomes aggressive to the family members, then the effect will be felt by the children and many others. Children of gambling addicts whose addiction has gotten to the point of making him aggressive to the family, will surely grow up with  thinking that domestic violence is a normal things. So , I agree that there are indirect victims of gambling addiction which include families and loved ones. .
278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 06, 2024, 09:41:21 PM
Only 1 goal scored for Haaland and Real Madrid still 0-0.

What is happening?

By the way the aggregate result for Real is still 1-0 so they are risking of going to extra time.

Real Madrid have to score at least a goal to stay safe. Until now, I find them less threatening in the attack and Leipzig might surprise them.
For Manchester City, they are pretty much safe since the first leg, yet they scored 3 goals against poor Copenhagen.
So far we have Bayern Munich, PSG, Manchester City and most likely Real Madrid in the next round and definitely tomorrow's games will be more interesting.
It is not over yet because Leipzig has just equalized the goal keeping the goal aggregate at 2:1. They are matching Real Madrid with the same force that they are receiving from them hence, Real Madrid could not out play them. From the match match statistics, Leipzig has made more goal attempts than Real Madrid and if they are able to convert some of those attempts might see the match turn in their favor. I must admit that this is one of the most entertaining match I have watched in a long while, fast football and played professionally. I think until the final whistle, it will not be possible to conclude who is going to join PSG, Manchester City and Bayern Munic that have already qualified.
279  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who does gambling addiction affect the most? on: March 06, 2024, 08:47:26 PM
Depending on how much damage are we talking here because if this is temporary damage
then this is for the Gambler that losses His money from time to time but if this is for long term effect
then it is His immediate family because the result of addiction is not for short term.

when time comes that addict even lose his Job then who will suffer the most? it is his
immediate family (WIfe and Children)
I think you are right, the extent of the damage is a factor to consider. It is really sad how many people have concluded that gambling addicts will display character that will be easily seen by others. This is not entirely true because there are some gambling addicts that still perform their duties as fathers and husbands. You will never know that they are addicted to gambling unless they tell you. Deep down they suffer the effect alone and not necessarily the family or dependents. If you are an addict, the fastest way to know is not being able to stop yourself from gambling even when you don't  want to.
280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆Rollbit.com | Champions League Pool | $11,000+ in Prizes ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: March 06, 2024, 08:30:06 PM
I was confident in PSG and I'm glad that I guessed the correct score. I wrote in another topic and now I also think that the bookmakers made a mistake with the quotes in this case, considering Sociedad to be the favorite.
In the Bayern - Lazio game I predicted 3-1 in favor of Bayern (although in Pot B I picked Lazio as all-in), and I was close, but damn Lazio couldn't score a single goal (although they had a couple of good chances).

PSG was surely the favorite in my opinion too, but they had a decent lead from the 1st game so I thought that they will play a boring draw.
The issue with PSG is that their league is weak, so they don't have to preserve energy like most other clubs do. Look at City - they have Liverpool for the weekend and are without 5+ starters whereas PSG was fired up for the game which I did not take into account.
That should be one of the easiest match to predict and like you said, a lot of people got it right. If care is not taken, PSG may finally lift the trophy this year amid rumors of Kylian Mbappe exit from the team. This may be what he will be remembered for in the team, hence the effort his is putting as evident in him scoring in both legs of their encounter with Real Sociedad. I have watched Mbappe closely in several matches including the last world cup and I noticed a major difference between his performance before and during the champions league matches. That can only mean that he wants to keep a record. So a match was never an option for me in that match.
