261  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: A Good Government Brings Economic Growth on: March 14, 2024, 07:29:59 AM
In the midst of the bunch of bad leaders we have at the different tiers of our governance, we still have lots of good ones that are bringing great projects to the constituencies they are representing. It's just that the bad ones are too many and it's almost becoming deficult to see the good of the minority and some of the minority that are even doing well are just carrying out those project just to get public applaud after which they steal huge public funds without being noticed at all.

From my own end, my LGA boss has brought in great project to the LGA within two years in office that we've never seen for the past ten years of previous administration. It's more of the kind of mindset the leaders have towards their people. There are people that project driven in nature and can't occupy an office without a practical  project being seen and this is one thing that's common with our leaders; each of them has what they see  as the needs of their state and once they come into office, all their attention is solely fucosed on doing it and as long as they've done it, they don't feel bothered about shit again.

You look at someone like WIKe, he is an infrastrural driven person and as long as he is able to build bridges, fly over and schools, he his okay with it. Even before he became the governor and was in charge of the state education, he was still after infrastructure and that led him to build the ultra modern secondary school for all the LGA and community in the state. He's gone to the fct now and the majority of his project is still geared towards infrastrural development. Some others are geared towards education, health and so on and I personally feel that if while facing a particular sector, they torch other sectors also, it would go a long way in bringing an all round development in the country.
262  Economy / Economics / Re: Hardship as a global problem on: March 14, 2024, 07:10:49 AM
Currently in the world today.hardship is every where, it is not just a country problem but a universal phenomenon that is occurring rapidly. It is clearly seen that people are literally not able to eat even a square meal for a day. Especially those in under developed countries.hardship which is now a global spread has taken its roots in the world today. We now seat and face our day to day survival with no hope of what would happen next. Sincerely I think this great problem can be resolved if nations could come together and create a universal solution to it
when it comes to dealing with hardship, it's more of a person work than a government or public responsibility. It's true that the role of the government in providing basic jobs and good environment that will support businesses can't be overemphasized but at the end of the day, the ball is always in your court and the decision is always left for you to take if you r life seriously or not.

If you even look at jobs that are available in different part of the world, you will know that the pay isn't always good enough to Carter for your needs and as someone that's just starting life, looking for what your leaders can do for you or looking out for ready made job will not bring out the best in you. You've got to make use of your thinking ability and think out solutions to the basic problems in your neighborhood and work on solving those problems and by so doing you will not just end up providing jobs for yourself but for people around you.
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Years ago people laughed at me bcz of THIS on: March 14, 2024, 07:01:51 AM
In early days of Covid I wrote this: Everyone laughed at me  Btc was 3k$.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5233202.msg54038680#msg54038680
Now BTC is 73K and everyone understand Im right.
I also wrote other topics which is strange for many in the first day but later they will understand the truth.
Covid Crash is a famous event in history, On that day, the price of Bitcoin dropped more than 50% in less than a few hours and many people sold it and In fact, they gave their bitcoins to whales as a gift.
if you had told me this at the time you claimed to have posted it, I wouldn't have believed you also. I know people can be selfish to get wealth but it doesn't make any sense that you will do such thing just to dump th price of Bitcoin only to buy it at that bearish season. It's even as though you're writing a catton script. True, the global COVID 19 pandemic had effect all all sectors of life and those than made the right plan and leveraged on the advantage of the seasons to investing into assets that dumped momentarily at that time were at serious profit years after which I believe has nothing to do with a single individual or initiatives.

If people knew in March 2020 that the price of Bitcoin would reach $69,000 within a few months, would they have sold it?
yes!
Those that sold there holding at the time of the COVID pandemic did so basically because they needed to stay alive to even talk about their investment. Maybe some of them were working in an environment that was exposed and couldn't do so because of the lockdown and needed to survive throughout the season. Even if they were 💯 certain that in a years time, Bitcoin will get to $100k, it wouldn't make any difference to them at all. During the pandemic, what was important was just how to survive and every other thing was never looked at as anything of value.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: March 13, 2024, 08:48:07 AM
Often people do not think about the possible losses. Gambling is a dangerous thing, and often serious losses of money occur due to excessive gambling. However, you should try to be aware of each of your bets and do not act impulsively. And try to calculate the size of the winnings, otherwise a large number of small losses can easily overlap one large winnings
that's very true. You know, as someone that's used to gambling with something very small, I understand how it could get unnoticed to always ignore our little and regular losses as long as we occasionally win. I know it's not best to always make comparison on how much we've won or lost as it could affect our gambling mindset and put us In position and situation where we might be tempted to trying regaining our lost money by all means but if you take into account how much you've lost maybe on a monthly bases it will guide you to make the right decision if you should continue gambling or give it a break.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Monte Carlo fallacy on: March 13, 2024, 08:27:27 AM
It's theoretically a fallacy of generalization but in reality it does work out for most people. Maybe the theory has a lot to do with what happens with seasons of the year resulting in similar activities happening at every seasons of the year.

In the gambling context, some person has noticed that they normally win in their gambling at particular day of the week and would normally take gambling on set days seriously because it's their lucky day. Spending on their believe systems and whether or not it actually works well for the theory of Monte Carlo isn't fallacy at all.
266  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Human trafficking on: March 13, 2024, 08:14:06 AM
Human trafficking is one of the most lucrative illicit businesses in Europe, with criminal groups making about $3 billion from it per year, making it a considerable criminal business that preys on the world's most marginalized persons
But the profits from these forms of trafficking are reversed: Nearly two-thirds of global profits ($99 billion) come from sex exploitation while $51 billion result from all other forms of forced labor. This goes to show you the amount of degradation we current humans are.
Human trafficking is one major area we've missed as humans and our view on it has almost reduced us to the extent where we no longer have feelings for our fellow humans.

It's sad that sex exploitation is now a normal business  that is common in different part of the world and in most African countries you see different false scholarships that's just designed to lure victims into using them for the purpose of trafficking. It's obviously one of the most profitable business around the world because it's easy to lure an average person from so many part of the developing world into it by promising little peanuts.
267  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Federal government idea on removal of VAT on LPG and it’s effect on Nigerians on: March 13, 2024, 07:54:37 AM
Am talking about we having our own working refineries.it should not just be a bill that is been signed but not put into work. Government should at least make it a reality, because the way things are going it will soon get to a place where people will have no choice but to go back to traditional or local means of cooking ooo.
if our government are directly or indirectly benefiting from our non functional refineries, then there is no guarantee that they signing any bill to that effect will make any difference.

It's sad that we are choked up from all angle and it's obvious we've gotten stranded on what to do at the moment. Gas is now very expensive, kerosene isn't cheap, to even buy ordinary charcoal now na war and light no even de when person for think of using Hot plate. The matter tire everybody and it's just so sad that there is nothing on ground that will possibly bring our economy to her feet any time soon
Everyone is after his belly and if we continue like this, we will get to the stage where war will become our only route to freeing ourselves from this whole mess.
268  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency impact on Economy on: March 13, 2024, 07:39:07 AM
Unemployment:

The increase in population of the developing countries and under developing countries will leads to the unemployment due to human resource surplus. The freelancer of this country uses the cryptocurrency as the one of the income generating resource.
although bitcoin was not to have a direct role to play in reducing the rate of unemployment In most developing countries, it's now a reality that so many youth have benefited from the popularity of the crypto space by engaging in crypto related activities like trading, mining, Holding and some even earning from mere blogging on crypto related stuffs. This is just the phase were we could work and earn from whatever source we want to and that's just where leveraging on the Bitcoin sector to boasting our finance become good.

Poverty:

Poverty is based on the calorie consumed by the individual based on the food consumption. For the food the individual need of steady income to satisfy with the basic need. Now many graduate unemployed people using cryptocurrency in various form to make some money for the food.
well, crypto isn't a job if we look at it from a general perspective and I kind of don't subscribe much to seeing it as a liberation for poverty cause it's basically designed to aid in reducing the level of centralized finance experience through the use of the fiat and not aimed at multiplying it value although by nature of it volatility, it could become profiting in the long run.
269  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / What's up with the regular tarnishing of our reputation ni? on: March 12, 2024, 12:07:40 PM
I don't know why we always assume that whatever we are facing in this country is the worst thing any nation could be going through and we just go all out to speak bad of our nation at any slightest opportunity we have in the public space. If only some of you have the slightest idea on what other nations are going through on a low without bringing it up for the public consumption.  You will all stick to what brought us here.

Is it a big deal to talk about Bitcoin and leave our politicians and whatever shit is going on in a country out of it? Isn't it enough that we have a local board to share whatever stuff that's necessary here?

You go see local board finish you no go gree post that thing when de your mind but na to carry am go public board go talk  about our country go de sweet you. What point are you all trying to prove? To get the public pitying your sorry state or what?

We've said it in the board over and over again that no newbie that's coming to the forum should go all out just to tarnish our image. I've regularly gone through the economy and general discussion board and I have not for once seen any member of another local board writing anything and including the name of their country in it in the negative sense but what you see most of the time is Nigeria This, Nigeria that and so on.

Abeg make we try control ourselves, if you no get wetin to talk try reply to someone's else's post and rest, no be every time you must post abeg.

I create this topic based on so many post I don de see for economy board and the general Bitcoin discussion board when no de speak well about us abeg make we try use our brain. No be our own bad pass.

See the thread here

Could it be because of corruption or bad governance that could inspired the northan Nigeria children to laid curse on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu?
Sincerely speaking, it's so dishearten to see that the children of a nation that are believed to be the leaders of tomorrow to feel so betray by their leader to the extend of laying curse on their president. Going by the present scenery of hardship, hunger and adjected poverty in Nigeria I think the reason of laying curse on Nigeria president by nothern Nigeria children is somehow justifiable because what country right now is as result government policies and incompetent corrupt leaders that have held the country captive for their selfish interest.

you all be going around painting your nation black without sitting your ass down to do something meaning for yourself.
Every nation has it own ups and down and no nation has a perfect leader that has everything figured out but during any slightest provocation you all bring your nasty ass out to paint your nation black in public as though it will help solve the problem of your country.

Some of you all can't even take care of a small responsibility givin to you but you sit back and feel because you're not in position of authority you can easily speak to your leaders any way you like?

Nigerian is a very populated and multi ethnic society and you can't expect whatever policy the leaders are putting in place to get access every citizens. You all have a duty to be responsible for your lives and see how bring out the best out of yourself rather than pointing accusing fingers on your leaders. The lands are fertile and there are countless numbers of invested resources in all your communities but you are sit back and you are waiting for your leaders to bring food to your table?

We all know our leaders haven't leaves that much to thier expected responsibility but regularly bringing it up in a public platform that's totally of a different niche is a no no for me.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Get one btc right away or 5 btc with a bet? on: March 12, 2024, 11:36:51 AM
It's not always easy to make the right decisions. Are you a gambler? If you're offered 1 btc without playing or 5 btc by playing (with a chance of 2 to 1). What do you do?
who is giving out the one BTC? Give me first let me know what to do next.

Like the popular proverb goes, a bird at hand is far better than thousands in the bush so I will always go for certainty above uncertainty. Fine, the five BTC is a big deal and if at the end of the play it finally comes out that I win, I will be happy for it but do you know what will go on in toue mind if you finally discover that you've not won? It's going to be one devasting thing that will hung you down for the whole of your life. I mean, how do you even explain that you had an opportunity of winning up to $72k dollars just by doing nothing and your greed rubbed you off such privilege?

Don't play.
272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you prefer betting your own predictions or from prediction site on: March 12, 2024, 11:28:27 AM
There are gamblers who have great instincts and can forecast games that may end up winning the bet. But they are scared that they may lose. They dont trust their own betting predictions so they would rather go to a gambling prediction site to some daily betting tips.

So i want to know as a gambler that you are, do you feel following those betting predictions from those sites would favour us in gambling more than our own predictions? For me i trust my predictions and i have won more when i predict for myself than letting someone predict for me.
we can't deny the fact the prediction sites sometime gives out sure games but Its not my thing to rely on their prediction. What I do is that after picking the games I will be staking for the week, I occasionally visit those site to look at people's opinions but I have found out that in the long run, it doesn't favour me that  much cause I have to make adjustment to most of my prediction and at the end of the day I end up loosing some of my games.

When it comes to our individual gambling strategy, it's more of doing and sticking with what works best for you cause at the end of the day, gambling isn't product of our instinct or people's popular opinion. It's a product of luck and the outcome of the game.
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't become a big investor by public opinion. on: March 12, 2024, 11:08:06 AM
Bitcoin price as of 2009 was $0.09, imagine holding bitcoin from 2009 till date, that would have been a very huge portfolio.
As an investor you can't afford to think how others do, or structure your investment plans on the opinion of others.
Investment as we all know is risky, because it involves financial asset.
you know, it's easy to look back at how far Bitcoin has come and imagin the profit one could have probably made if he had investment at the time a whole Bitcoin was valued as low as $0.09.  I guess that's the beauty of time cause of some of us were aware of Bitcoin at it onset, it's very possible to look at it as a scam and unrealistic project.

It's good for an investor to think outside the box and probably look into the idea behind a particular project as well as the teams involved in the project to determine the possible worth of the project in the future but such analysis isn't always easy due to a high level of disbelief by the majority of people when the project hasn't gained popularity. What I'm saying in essence is that, we only know that Bitcoin is of this current price today because this is the reality. If we are asked to give a twenty year prediction of the possible future of Bitcoin, some of us wouldn't be able to leave our investment up till that period and lets say we are to luck up our holdings from now till the end of the next 20 years, some of is cant even try that because we cant tell what will play out from now to the next twenty years and that's obviously the reality of life.

Today the bitcoin market have many big firms, investor and holders that  are expanding the ecosystem and the bitcoin network at large.
A coin that was once sold at $0.09 is now $72K.
that's the just the power of time, chances and a bit of Patience. I can bet that most of the earlier people that invested into Bitcoin didn't see this coming but probably did it because they were in the crypto ecosystem or were just fascinated about seeing an alternative to the fiat system of the past and had to subscribe to what looked as an alternative. It's great to see the value of Bitcoin gaining this big and we only hope that it gets more bullish before the end of this halving.
274  Economy / Economics / Re: World fight over resources don't live in country where is a lot natural resource on: March 12, 2024, 06:39:56 AM
As someone who's living in a country with so many natural resources, I can relate 💯 with what you're saying. Maybe you're even presenting this from a distance point of view and that's why you're considering leaving the country entirely. It's always a normal thing that host community to natural resources are always at war with neighbouring communities and leaving peacefully in an environment that's filled with natural resources is always a big issue because greedy politicians would normally want to chase indigins away so as to  take those resource all to themselves.

Of course, most rural indigenous people are always poor and wouldn't want to leave their community for any reason and most of them would prefer to die for their land instead of leaving it to strangers that are only after their resource.

It's the plight of most rural  African inhabitants and most have to leave in a war zone all their lives and watch their resource being taken away in front of them without knowing what and how to go about retrieving it.
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: March 11, 2024, 06:29:24 AM
I spoke to my nephew and he told me that he has never stolen from his mother to gamble. And he gambles with only his savings from his weekly stipend he receives from the family. And he won't gamble if he has no savings to do that. From my observation, he is a responsible gambler that is just enjoying the game and making a little money occasionally. The gambling age in my country is 18+, but his mother is insisting that he must stop. What will be your advice for this young boy?
as much as I believe that everyone has the right to do what works best for him, there are things you shouldn't start doing until you are responsible for your finance.

I wouldn't advice my kid bro to go into gambling when he should be facing his studies and looking for a means of income. If he can't provide for his basic financial needs, he shouldn't look at gambling as a possible option or what the mum suspects will turn out to become a reality. The mum is only trying to be protective of his child and yeah, you should tell him to be face his finance and academics and every other thing could follow.
276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Try to stick to your instincts as a gambler on: March 11, 2024, 06:21:26 AM
This is the thing that bettors hate the most when they don't really believe in their intuition and choose to cash out, but not long after, their intuition turned out to be right and it was very unlucky that they didn't get what they should have gotten. But this is gambling, anything can happen, sometimes we are too sure about something but lose, or conversely we are not too sure but win in the end - it's all luck, so when that happens there's no need to regret it too much.
I'm telling you!
The story would have been the reverse of the case if he had lost and failed to cash out at the time he did. Gambling is a game of luck and their isn't a better way to go about it. If your instinct works for you at this time and you've won, that's good enough but it's not to say it will always work that way. A friend gave me a sure bet that I refused playing because my instinct didn't subscribe to it, it later turned out that the game played and I had to facey reality cause that's what it is.
277  Economy / Economics / Re: Keeping money and keeping bitcoins? are they similar? on: March 11, 2024, 05:57:01 AM
The massive awareness to keep bitcoins for as long as possible promotes people to develop the attitude of saving, just like saving money. Do you agree with this that people who are very good at saving money become very good at keeping bitcoins when they finally start doing cryptocurrency? Or do you feel that there is no similarity between keeping bitcoins and keeping money?
absolutely yes!
If you're good in keeping money you will obvious do well when it comes to holding your Bitcoin. You know, life is networked in such a way that the know you have at point A is what will help you strive and become better at point B.

In my locality, we do have this small saving box when you would bring out a small opening and whenever you have small money you won't be using or someone gift you money, you just put it in the box amd continue putting money whenever you feel like or you choose that every particular day of the week you're going to be putting money in that savings box and if you're able to do that till the end of the year, you will discover that you've successfully saved up a good amount of money. Some that are impatient will within the year break the box and bring out thoseomey during any small financial constraints and those are obviously bad at their saving habit and even if they decide to Hold Bitcoin, at the slightest financial downtime ever, they will use their investment as though it is a reserved fund.
278  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What if the Bitcoin was in note? on: March 11, 2024, 05:40:07 AM
In all countries around the world there currencies are all printed in paper which is called note though there maybe countries who still use coins till now. All around the world money can be misplaced maybe from your pocket, your hand or maybe your wallet may even get lost but still some people don't feel it when their money get lost because it's not that very high in exchange like in Nigeria where we have our highest currency which happens to be 1k and many other currencies like #500, #200, #100 and others most times we misplace this money and others pick it up with joy of having what you didn't work for but in this recent economy everybody has refused to lose money as usual ( laugh ).

What if the Bitcoin was in notes and with the same value as it has now, do you think anyone would misplace it or even walk with it on the street. Eventually you see a Bitcoin note will you return it to the owner. Let's be sincere and also see it as fun.
you've missed a whole lot of point in course of your writeup.

First off, Bitcoin is a decentralized digital  currency and anything that makes it to be printed, it has lost that digital and decentralized nature. If bitcoin is being printed then we have to talk about how much Bitcoin is being printed into circulation and also regulate how they are being pumped so it doesn't get excess or scarce which automatically means it is no longer decentralized.

That being said, the decision to pick someone's misplaced properly on the street is a personal issue and you can't get a general opinion regarding it. Based on the kind of society we live in and looking from the religious and diabolical point of view, it's not advisable to talk up even fiat on the road because the days are evil. If it's a property like phone that you could easily reach back to the owner that misplaced it, then it's not a big deal to take it for that purpose but anything outside of that, it's a no no for me.
279  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: When Self-investment beats every form of investment on: March 11, 2024, 05:29:43 AM
No be small matter you yarn for here oh!
Investing into self get plenty advantages when fit make us stand out for anywhere we find ourselves. If you don ever talk with person when take up different courses and programs, you go observe how matured him thought process de because e get plenty things when you go learn about life from taking up courses.

Na after I do my  HSE programme, come see the way e take help my personal life regarding matters of safety I take know how important and valuable  self development is.

The funny thing be say if you go out for interviews, what most companies will look out for isn't even how good you are in the field you studied because they already know how bad our educational system is but they will look out for those extra knowledge you're able to get outside of your field and how you're able to communicate your point effectively to them which is very much in like with what you're trying to point out.

This is a top notched articulated fact.
280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: March 09, 2024, 05:57:50 AM
After the first knock down, Francis didn't know what to do and all strategies have been throw out of the window and you can see in his facial expression that he has lost already.
right from his statement to the media, it was clear he was missing it all up. Ranting all form of bullshit without putting in the needed work. According to him, it's best to focus on yourself and do what you have to do without knowing what's going on in your opponents mind. And I guess it affected him in the long run cause AJ watched all his previous matches, followed up on his interviews to know what was going on in his and it was all clear that Frances was full of himself and over confident in the fight. If he had faced the fight as an underdog, he would have last longer than been knocked out in all the round.

I predicted AJ to knock him out but didn't know it would come this easy for the champ. Frances was just an easy knot for AJ to crack down.
